Ladies, Its time for a fitting

You've probably seen clips of the Oprah episode: The Bra Revolution. It was replayed for the 3rd or 4th time last Tuesday. I finally watched on Tuesday. Nordstrom says that 8 of 10 women are in the wrong size.

Me? I was wearing the wrong size. Inspired by Oprah's episode, as well as by the fact that I'm finally out of a nursing bra (and only had 2 "regular" bras), I went to Nordstrom for a fitting on Friday. I wasn't the only woman being measured. I was one of about 4 during my 15 minute fitting. My fitter explained that each time the episode plays, they see a large increase in the number of fittings during that week. They don't take appointments, but she recommended that you head to the bra department right when your store opens, and to go early in the week. They do more measurements closer to the weekends.

Your fitting should be free. Sure, you'll end up buying new bras, but you'll feel great, too. And when you wear the right bra, you not only feel better, you look better! I joked with my sister that I'm much more Barbie-like now. It was painless, too. Even with my shirt on, my fitter was able to guesstimate my size (and she was completely right). After determining my size, she brought me about 15 bras. She would have brought more, but I was pressed for time and explained that I wasn't looking to try on a million, just to determine my size and comfort fit. There was no pressure to purchase--at all.

My cup size was right, though I'm fluctuating between 2 letters. But my measurement was off--only by a size, but what a difference the right size makes.

Nordstrom has a lot of fitting information on their site, but I recommend heading over to get fitted. And if you don't have a Nordstrom around you, there are LOTS of places you can go to be fitted--just contact your local Victoria's Secret or department store, they'll probably do it there, or send you in the right direction.
