A message about Mommies with Style from Editor & Founder Whitney Wingerd
Mommies with Style was founded in 2004. I like to say that it all started with a Fleurville diaper bag. While bored during my infant son’s nap one day, I started writing a review on my current flavor of the week diaper bag – a Fleurville Mothership.
As a former Web Producer, Editor & Writer (and Shopaholic) turned stay-at-home-Mom, launching a blog seemed a natural fit me. I was lurking on women’s fashion blogs but had noticed that there were no Mommy product review blogs. When I started searching for other Mom blogs, all I found was a whole lot of unused and yet unregistered domains. I saw a need and room for a review site for Moms – someplace we could share about what we were using, post discounts and coupon codes for products that only Moms would be interested in.
But really, I began Mommies with Style for fun, as an outlet to think beyond smelly diapers and spit-up stains. I loved to shop, I loved to write and post things on the Internet, so there I found myself, registering MommieswithStyle.com and tooling around with blogging software and telling my friends about new hobby. (There was no Facebook and no Twitter, so I informed them of my new venture the old-fashioned way: email.)
And then something happened. People other than my friends and family started reading. I created Message Boards and people started posting. A community of Moms was born.
I’m thankful every day for my blog and my luck in starting this blog when I did. I couldn’t have done it without the help and encouragement from my wonderful friends. I’ve had some amazing opportunities since I began blogging six years ago; it’s been a wild and crazy ride but I wouldn’t change a thing and I look forward to seeing where this blog next takes me.
Whitney’s Bio: Prior to Mommies with Style, Whitney worked in the high-tech industry for seven years as an Online Producer and Editor. She’s been published in the Hartford Courant, worked for CBS and NBC news stations and edited many a story. She’s been quoted in the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Chicago Tribune. She’s offered reviews and feedback for numerous published parenting books.
Currently, she spends her time managing Mommies with Style and writing for various blogs and publications. She is a Parenting Expert and Columnist on AOL Shopping and a former columnist on Disney’s Family.com. Other publications she’s written for include: Nickelodeon’s Parents Connect, the Celebrity Baby Blog, AOL’s Play Savvy, Savvy Mommy, Philly Moms Blog, Clever Parents, Chic Blvd, Car & Caboodle and Design Public.
She’s a Parent Ambassador for Healthy Child, Healthy World, an Ubisoft Champion, a Frigidaire Mom and a Lifetime Mom Affiliate.
Over the years she’s worked with dozens of brands such as Playskool, Mattel, Safety 1st, Britax, Fisher-Price, Hewlett-Packard, Baby Jogger and many, many more. She lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband, two boys (elementary school & preschool aged) and two cats.

Debbie is a Senior Writer and has been writing for Mommies with Style since early 2005. She lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband, daughter (2003) and son (2007).
Nancy lives in New York City. She has a son (2005), a daughter (2007) and recently gave birth to her third child, a son, in August of 2010. Nancy has worked at the Food Network on Emeril Live¯ and two of Robin Leach’s shows, as well as Fox5’s The 10:00 News. She gave that all up in 1999 to become a NYC Elementary School teacher. On extended maternity leave since fall 2005, she spends her days in the park with her toddler, teaches two college night classes and also writes reviews for The Celebrity Baby Blog.
Jen has been with Mommies with Style since 2005 and she lives outside of Philadelphia. She lives in a full house with her hubby, two sons (2004, 2007), Puggle Maggie and cat Belle. Along with writing for Mommies with Style, she co-owns and blogs on The Swanky Pup, a blog for dog lovers. She also owns her own event planning business, Bud to Blossom.

Zareen lives in the burbs outside of Philadelphia. She has two kids, a boy born in 2004 and a girl born in 2006. She has a cat, a fish and she’s co-President of The Associates Advertising, a full service advertising agency focused on the retail market, run with her husband.
