Rolling in Dough

I am a control freak of unimaginable proportions. For example, I have a strict, no-color-mixing rule when it comes to play dough. So staunchly do I enforce this rule, that when my kids play at other kids’ houses, and they mix colors, they are wholly astounded … it blows their mind. But despite my army-general-like tendencies, my kids still love playing with play dough. It’s one thing that keeps all three of my kids happily occupied, and one thing that always tempts me to stop and play along.
marys-dough.jpg Mary’s Soft Dough, made by Terrapin Toys is ultra soft non-crumbly and, when stored property, lasts up to a year without drying out!
The soft dough comes in a ton of great colors, (including my daughter’s favorite: glittery colors, as well as glow-in-the-dark colors) and smell great. Now, I must admit, I was skeptical about the good-smelling dough … after all, isn’t this an irresistible invitation to EAT the play things? However, My kids loved the smells, and not one of them tried to eat it (however if you have more orally fixated little ones, you may want to steer clear, though the substance is non-toxic). The soft dough comes in standard four-ounce tubs or giant, rainbow-or solid-colored tubs.
Mommies with Style will receive a FREE GIFT with order.

Card Shark: Mommy Cards by Fruition Designs

polkadot.jpg I really think that mommy cards are among the great modern inventions known to man and mommy. In my opinion, they are up there with the Medela Pump In Style, Angie’s wipes containers and fashionable maternity and nursing wear.
My obsession with these small, rectangular cuties has been well documented here on Mommies With Style. So there should be no surprise when I tell you all that I’ve fallen in love with some truly beautiful cards from Fruition Designs.
The heavy-weight stock and creative card designs caught my eye. But rounded corners and back-side printing (each available for a small extra fee) give these cards an extra distinctive look and offer lots of options. LOVE THEM! In fact, I love them SO MUCH, that I’m giving these cards (in a field of stellar and super-fab competitors!) top honors. They just might be my all-time FAVORITE of all the mommy cards I’ve reviewed so far (and you know, Mommies, I’ve reviewed more than my share!).
And, here’s the great thing. You too can partake in this mommy card obsession! Fruition Designs is offering Mommies With Style Readers a great deal! Receive 15% off all orders and FREE SHIPPING with the U.S. through June 30 with the code MWS15. Upon ordering, you will received a Paypal invoice with the adjusted amount.

The Next Fig Thing

I love buying clothes for my kids as much as the next Mommy With Style. But anything close to haute couture attempts for the newborn set always gives me a serious case of the heebeejeebees. You know what I mean? The teeny-tiny boy in the argyle vest and the hat. The itty-bitty girl in the ruffled, lacey dress and the gigantic hairbow. Call me crazy, but it just seems a bit unnatural … not to mention profoundly impractical … in light of diaper blowouts, spit-up debacles and the like.
figleaf.jpg That’s why I love the clothes from Fig Leaf Baby. They get back to the basics, with ultra-soft Peruvian Pima cotton seperates that are cute, comfortable and just the thing to wrap up that perfect little bundle of boy (or girl!). And never fear … all this comfort and quality comes with a heavy dose of sassy … with fun sayings like Play Dating and Fresh Squeezed and (my personal favorite for your preemie) Preemie Donna.
Not just for babies, though, Fig Leaf’s collection includes sizes for toddlers too. Plus! A great summer-sun bonus, all white garments have a UV/Stain protection to keep little ones extra safe!
Fig Leaf Baby is offering Mommies With Style readers 20% off any purchase. Use the code MWS07 through August 8. And triple your shopping pleasure … you may use the code up to three times to receive the discount!

Liberty Does it Again!

libby.jpg You know how we love Liberty Worth. Her skirts. Her necklaces. She’s our very own Mommies With Style IT GIRL! Well, our Liberty is not just a pretty skirt. She’s also designer committed to a zero-waste principle.
So while she worked on her skirts, all busy as a bee, she saved. She saved all her scraps, until the perfect solution presented itself.
The result? A whole line of fabric bags in the same line of reversible, lovely prints as the skirts that we first fell in love with. Make certain you check out the Super Cute Saddle Bags. Not only are they aptly named, they are a great size, fun shape and just in time for spring and summer bights!
Liberty is giving Mommies With Style free shipping through the end of May with the code MOMSTYLE. Walk don’t run girls. You know it’s gotta be good.

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie

really-rosie.jpgIf you’re ready to take a trip down memory lane, I have the soundtrack for you! I could not be more excited about Carole King’s Really Rosie, the soundtrack to the Maurice Sendack television special circa about 1975.
These songs totally took me back. One Was Johnny, Chicken Soup With Rice, and Alligators All Around are three of my favorites.
You can get the full, digitally mastered soundtrack on amazon. Or, download the album or individual songs on iTunes. Take a listen. Huge waves of nostalgia are certain to ensue.

A Shirt By Any Other Name ….

tank1.jpg I am finally coming to grips with the idea that all the stuff I loved as a child is now retro cool. I am officially old.
But thankfully, there is a definite up side. Perhaps you HAVE to be officially old to fully appreciate these cherry-scented shirts that hearken (yup, I said hearken, remember, I’m old?) back to the days when Scratch and Sniff Stickers were all the rage. Nostalgic? Just a little bit.
tank2.jpg If you, like me, were a child of the 80′s, you’ll love these shirts. Babesta is introducing a limited number of these totally radical tanks in size two, four and six toddler. Get first dibs and $2 off by following this link through Friday. Just put your favorite Scratch and Sniff scent (mine was bubble gum, hands down!) in the comments section.

Erbaorganics for Mama and Baby

I love Target. Love it. And not just because it’s headquartered here in Minnesota … the Land of 10,000 Lakes and about 10,000 Target Stores. It’s that they always have great stuff. And they are always getting NEW things, which is such fun for my tiny attention span.
erba.jpg Target’s newest line of spring products has just hit shelves, and I have been faithfully trolling the aisles for bright and shiny things that might catch my ever-ready eye.
My favorite find as of late has been the Erbaorganics line for Mom and Baby. Not just another pretty face in the organic, eco-friendly mama and baby care world, Erbaorganics is a company with some heart. As an adoptive mommy of a daughter born across the ocean, I love that they donate a full 15% of their profits to the World Wide Orphans Foundation, which raises money for disadvantaged children across the world. And when you consider that most of the world exists on less than TWO DOLLARS A DAY, that’s a great thing.
This would make a great gift for any baby, but would be especially thoughtful for those parents who have brought children home through adoption! Check out Erbaorganics on-line or at your local Target.

lucy2.jpg So how are those New Year’s resolutions holding up? Hopefully, if you resolved to eat better and exercise more, you are full steam ahead towards a healthier body! Diaper Bag Confidential

stella2.jpg
Check out this jaunty little clutch. Very hip, very sparkly and (even though there are 15 inches of snow – and counting – in my backyard) very get- me- in-the mood-for-spring chic. Oh. And did I mention? It’s a diaper bag!
This Stella Clutch by Offhand Designs is a super-practical, quick-change diaper bag masquerading as a flirty, oh-so-unmommy-like purse. Magnetic snap closure, roomy zippered interior pocket and matching changing pad make it great for day-to-day with baby. A shiny exterior, sleek velvet handle and details like grosgrain piping give it staying power as a cosmetic or travel bag for those post-potty training years (yes, I promise, they actually exist!).
Find them in lots of lovely, jewel-like hues (the one pictured is Sky Sparkle) at InStyle Moms, and score 15% off (this discount is site-wide!) with MWS15 through March 10.

Draw Your Sword

They say the pen is mightier than the sword. And while most of my communication these days flows from my keyboard, rather than my ballpoint, I have to admit that e-mail just can’t compete with the warmth of a hand-written note.
push.gif Here’s a great reason to put that pen to paper. In addition to the 15% at Push the Envelope that Mommies With Style already get (MWS15), you can now receive FREE SHIPPING through March 30 with the code BOUNJOUR07.
I just love these super-fun mama-to-be notecards. And, make sure you check out the Stock Up for 2007 section for great prices … including personalized notecards starting at only $15.
