I’ve got a huge thing for Sesame Street, having grown up on it, so I was so excited to get these in the mail last week — 3D Cookie Monster Robeez Booties ($40). Right now my little man isn’t walking more than 4 steps and is in the baby carrier or the stroller when we’re out, so these booties are perfect for keeping his feet warm during this fall weather. Plus they stay on his feet and will keep them nice and cozy! And the fact they have Cookie Monster on them make them even better! [Read more...]

Ju Ju Be’s BFF Diaper Bag
I’m always looking for that perfect diaper bag and I FINALLY think I’ve found it (after 6 years of parenthood!). It’s Ju Ju Be’s BFF Diaper Bag ($165). Why do I love it? Sometimes I take a stroller around, sometimes I wear the baby, and sometimes I run into the New York City and need to be ultra portable. The BFF easily handles all my modes -plus it can be a worn on your shoulder, back, clipped onto a stroller, and it has a great grippy handle (like a carpetbag). It’s got tons of pockets and holds MUCH more than it looks like it can. While the price is a little steep, think of it this way — it’s quality and durable, plus it can function 2 different ways (as backpack and a messenger bag). Dimensions are 6 1/2” x 14” x 12”. Baby Essentials: Warm Milk Baby Hobo Convertible Diaper Bag – Perfect for Nursing Moms
Love your nursing pillow, but don’t want to lug it around every time you leave the house (believe me, I’ve done that). Well, there’s a better solution and it combines a nursing pillow AND a stylish diaper bag.
Warm Milk’s Baby Hobo Convertible Diaper Bag ($95) converts into a nursing pillow. Just take this awesome diaper bag (which we’ll talk about later) and place on your lap (make sure it’s zipped shut first), and then clip it around your waist (using the shoulder strap) and pull it snug. It will fit mommies of all sizes. Then lift up the secured flap and unzip around to reveal the plush pillow. Place baby on the pillow and you’re good to go! [Read more...]
Huggies Slip On Diapers Review & Giveaway
Huggies just introduced a slip on diaper called Huggies Slip-ons– and I want to know why didn’t anyone think of this years before? My youngest child is almost 13 months and has turned from a baby into a toddler who hates to sit down for diaper changes. I’ve always been horrible at “put the diaper on the standing child”, so when I got samples from Huggies to try out, I was psyched.
Basically, it works just like a pull up, but is much more absorbent (as in — your kid can sleep in it and it won’t leak all over the place). You can also just slide it onto a child that’s lying down (there are tabs you can easily take apart to remove (or apply the diaper). We tested the Huggies Slip-ons at home (during playtime, mealtime, naptime and at night), at the park and on the road (we went up to my inlaws’ house in upstate NY) – so I feel we tried out every possible scenario a parent may have and I was really pleased how the Slip-ons performed. No leaks, no blowouts that leaked.
While I’ve used pull-up training diapers with my older children (my 3 1/2 year old still naps and sleeps in them), I know that they are work well.. to a point. They can’t handle what a regular diaper can — but the Huggies Slip-ons did. The cost is more expensive than the regular Huggies diapers I usually use, I found it was worth it to have for those times when my little guy will not lie flat for a diaper change or when we are on the go! And they were absolutely perfect for the park — it was such a relief to just be able to stand my son up and change his diaper at the park with the Slip-ons. If you’ve ever diapered a baby on your lap on in your stroller (we’ve ALL done it), the Huggies Slip-ons will make your life so much easier!
They’re designed for babies from 12 to around 36 months.

Childrens Book of the Month Club Review
My oldest child, Ben, started reading this year. As a teacher (on childcare leave), I’ve always tried to inspire his love of reading and have read to him nightly since he was 3 months old. As the summer days go by, I want to keep Ben, his little sister, and the baby (who just turned 1) interested in books. When I was offered a chance to try out the Children’s Book of The Month Club, I jumped at it. I had asked the company to pick books for me and we were delighted at their selection. They chose Shel Silverstein’s Runny Babbit (I LOVE Shel Silverstein), a Judy Moody Chapter Book (which was cute), How to Twist a Dragon’s Tale by Cressida Cowell (very cute longer chapter book), The Secret Garden (such a classic), and First Words (which the baby loves). And our new favorite book, which is Philadelphia Chickens (with a CD) by Sandra Boynton. My kids devoured every book they sent! This makes a great gift for kids (I hope Grammy’s listening!). Giada De Laurentiis for Target Kitchen
Recently I had an opportunity to attend a preview of Target’s new grocery products, which included Giada De Laurentiis for Target Kitchen. Giada De Laurentiis did two cooking demos for us, using her food and culinary products. I am such a Target fan , plus I worked in production at the food network from 94 to 99 (3 years before she joined the channel), so I was so curious to see if she was as warm as she was on TV.
Giada showed us how to make Linguine with Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Olives and Lemon and Mini Caprese Burgers using the products she developed with Target.
I had a front row view and had a great time watching her cook and hear how she worked with Target. As she did her cooking demo, she chatted with us about kids and dealing with picky eaters (something that I deal with everyday with my oldest child). We found her to be warm and welcoming- plus the food she made was delicious.
Giada told us she prefers to strain her pasta by using a pasta scoop – not just draining a whole heavy pot into a strainer in the sink. She showed us the
one she developed with Target called the Giada De Laurentiis for Target® Scoop and Strain Stainless Steel Colander ($14.99). We were given one to take home and it’s my new favorite kitchen tool. I don’t burn myself with the steam anymore by draining a whole pot of pasta — and since I make pasta for my children just about every day, it’s getting a lot of use. She also showed us her Panini Press and Mezzaluna Knife, as well as her Dutch Oven (which at $89.99 is pretty reasonable). As a mom who cooks every night, her tools (which were affordable and quality) are going to inspire me to create even more fun dishes for my family.
For dealing with picky eaters, Giada recommended making a few pasta shapes together to keep kids interested and to have my oldest child help me in the kitchen. We sampled her new specialty foods — note: you’ve GOT to check out her Charred Tomato Vinaigrette ($2.99) and her Pesto! New for 2011 is Bucatini, Galleti, Fuscilli Corti and Gobetti Pasta. The pasta has fun shapes and is organic. Prices range from $2.49 – $2.79.
I couldn’t possibly mention all the great Giada De Laurentiis for Target Products we saw, plus all the amazing Archer Farms and Target branded foods, but we love the selection and all the different specialty items we saw. One theme was rampant– they were affordable and still had quality ingredients. As Giada told us, “Only Target could have the resources to make her pasta sauce $2.99 and not skimp on good ingredients!”.
Thank you to Target who hosted Giada De Laurentiis’ Cooking Demo. We were given a samples of Target Grocery items to take home.
BabySilk Sunscreen Towelettes
It’s really tough to get sunscreen on a wriggly eleven month old, as well as a wired 3 1/2 year old and an almost 6 year old– so MD MOMS Baby Silk Babysafe Sunscreen Towelettes 30 SPF ($25 for 15 wipes) are a must have in my house. It is so easy to wipe this Broad Spectrum sunscreen (which protects against UVA and UVB rays) on a constantly moving child! They’re water resistant and sweat proof. Best of all, my two older kids can wipe their sunscreen on themselves! I usually use one towelette for each child – and yes, it one wipe will cover a almost 6 year old.
If you want the make the package of sunscreen wipes last longer, use the sunscreen wipes on your child’s face and then use another sunscreen for their arms and legs. These wipes come a couple of sizes, either a package with 15 towelettes for $25 or 3 single towelettes for $7.50. My husband and I love them too (you can hold a baby and still get yourself all sunscreened up!).
The sunscreen wipes contain vitamins E and B5, marine silk, aloe and oat, to protect, soothe and moisturize skin. Dermatologist-approved and hypoallergenic, it contains no phthalates, lanolin, mineral oil, petroleum or waxes, It contains physical sunscreens, titanium and zinc oxide, as the only active ingredients. No chemical sunscreen ingredients.
- UVA rating: PA+++ (provides the highest level of protection against UVA rays)
- Only $1.73 per premeasured application!

Tommee Tippee Introduces Breast Pumps and Teething Aids
It’s no secret that I pretty much love anything that Tommee Tippee comes out with. This British brand just gets it and my 3 and 5 year old are big fans of the bibs, cups, bowls and other products they make. A few weeks ago, we got a peek at their new breastpumps, one electric and one manual, plus their fantastic Chewthers Line for teething babies.
The Electric Single Breast Pump ($149) has four suction levels, which is super easy for a mom to control the speed and suction she wants. The soft silicone flange massages and flexes and stretches to fit. You can choose to plug it in or run it on the battery. It comes with a way to store the milk directly too — which is very smart. You can pump milk directly into [Read more...]

We love Bright Starts Baby’s Play Place Mat ($60). It’s adaptable with walls that can come up or down, due to your baby’s stage (newborn, tummy time, sitting and crawling).

Baby Orajel Naturals Teething Gel: When Your Little One Can’t Handle the Tooth
My baby, Skylar, recently got his first tooth at 10 months of age. As his little tooth was emerging and he was miserable, we were sent a sample of Baby Orajel Naturals Teething Gel to test out. For my older two kids (now 5 1/2 and 3 1/2), we used a very popular natural teething tablet, which has since been recalled. I’ve used Orajel also and was thrilled to hear that they had a natural formula also, as a choice. It’s benzoncaine-free, as well as dye free, paraben free and alcohol free. [Read more...]
SoothTIME’s zzzTime Sleep Solutions
Anything that helps a baby sleep more is a good thing! A swaddle blanket is usually the first step to that, but sometimes can be tricky to configure tightly so your baby doesn’t kick out of it. SootheTIME offers some adorable spruced up swaddles in their new line of infant sleep essentials, zzzTime (pronounced z-time). For newborns, the Snooze Wrap™ Plus ($24.99) is an easy way to swaddle and offers head support, tummy comfort wraps, and the adjustable pocket grows with baby. [Read more...]
Potty Training with My Carry Potty
This mama’s been having a hard time potty training her 3 year old daughter — but My Carry Potty ($32) has made my life a little easier. In fact, my little one, Allegra, is kind of obsessed with it and won’t leave home without it. She loves that it’s hers (since it’s pink, her big brother wants nothing to do with it), she can carry it herself around the apartment and in and out of the car. [Read more...]
Share Your Baby’s First Steps Milestone with Tide and BabyCenter
Do you remember when your little one took their first steps? My oldest child, Ben (now almost 6) took his first steps (without help) at 13 months old. He had been cruising since he was about 10 months old and finally one day he was ready! [Read more...]
Share Your Baby’s First Tooth Milestone with Tide and BabyCenter
Seems after crawling, the milestone we wait for is The First Tooth. My husband’s family is full of dentists, so we were anxious for that first tooth to come out. My oldest child, Ben, got his first tooth at 9 months old. Since he had been teething since around 3-4 months old, we felt it took so long. Then his second one came in at 15 months (we couldn’t believe how long it took for the next tooth!)
Disney Baby Introduces the Cuddly Bodysuit
Disney Baby just introduced their Disney Cuddly Bodysuit line. We love it for several reasons. The biggest reason is that it grows with your baby, with two rows of snaps, one under the other – because we know that babies usually grow longer, rather than wider. We also liked that it easily fits over baby’s head and the two rows of snaps in the bottom area were reinforced and strong. While it comes in standard white cotton rib, it also comes in other textiles – drop needle (sets of 5 lines), and pointelle (a delicate cotton made with a pattern of tiny openings).
