Every month I head to the mailbox and am excited to receive my Julep Maven Box of the month. Around here, we love any company that helps animals. My latest jewlery obsession is with cuff & wrap bracelets. I can’t seem to get enough of them – I keep buying and stacking them on my wrist. Love the look! I want to start this one out by saying that I have NEVER used tanning creams or tanning moisturizers before. I have watched many-a-friend end up with streaks on their skin or orange-colored skin and never thought they were worth it. A friend told me about Jergens Natural Glow, swearing it was different from other tanning creams and I thought I would give it a shot!
It was pretty awesome. Using Jergens Natural Glow daily gradually builds color. It goes slowly so it seems natural as you get only slightly darker each day. And I also thought maybe this is the reason there were no streaks? As I had to put it on each day, I was never applying it in exactly the same way – maybe that’s why no streaks?
Overall, I think this is a great product, especially this time of year when you are trying to get a little bit of a base in a safe way! The only negatives which I noted was also in some of the Amazon reviews – the smell is a bit nasty. But I didn’t find the smell lingered on my skin, it was only slightly noticable at application.

I’ve got a new mantra when I run. It’s pretty simple, it’s: Yes I can.
I’ve been writing a lot more lately about running. I’m not new to running – I’ve been hitting the pavement since high school but I’ve never really progressed with my running and I’ve always been kind of slow. I’ve been a go out and run a couple of miles at most kind of girl and that’s been okay thus far. But especially lately, I’ve had this burning desire to run a little farther and a little faster than ever before.
I work out pretty regularly and would say I’m average fit so I should be able to do this, right? Running is such a mind game. So much of the time it’s about what your mind will allow.
Today, I ran 4 miles. I went to a hilly park I run at often, knowing that the hill definitely slows me down at times. I finished in 43 minutes, for which I was pretty damn proud of myself because 1) I didn’t stop to walk once and 2) I ran 4 miles! I’ve been running 3 miles most of my life but 4-5? Those runs are few.
I want to go farther, regularly, but so much of it is a mind game for me. When 3 miles chimes in via Nike +, I swear my body just tires. The last few weeks, I listen to the conversation in my head. “Omg, I’m dying.” “Omg, this F-ing hill is going to kill me,” and mostly, “I can’t.” To which I’m now telling myself, “Yes I Can.” This will probably come off as sounding totally bizarre but I really do repeat that to myself pretty often these days. Yes. I can. It’s pretty amazing what a couple of empowering words and a great playlist can get you through.
What gets you through? What pushes you to go a little bit farther, a little bit faster?
Recently, I’ve had a bit of a shoe obsession. But I’m also realizing that I’m having a situation where my eyes are a little bigger than my stomach. In other words, I see shoes that I adore and want but they just aren’t practical.
Do you ladies get what I’m saying?
I recently ordered these Nine West Rocha Pumps from Amazon and they came and I thought I’d never be able to wear them. Luckily they ended up being really comfortable.
But I also ordered a pair of these Nine West Jazzmym black pumps at about the same height that ended up being awful. I keep them in my closet because they are just so completely cute, as if sitting there collecting dust will somehow make them more comfortable and I’ll suddenly be able to walk in them?
The bottom line is that it’s important to find shoes that are comfortable – preferable of course are comfortable shoes that are fashionable! I definitely tend to forget that when I get starry-eyed over cute looking shoes. What about you? Do you ever make the unrealistic shoe purchase?
And I will say this – I love spring and summer because I heart wearing wedges – cute AND comfortable!
Sometimes I laugh when I start to say these words but I have to say it: where was this product when my kids were little? It seems like the baby product industry has come so far since my babies were indeed babies and these Quick Install Gates from Munchkin are the kind of example I’m talking about.

LUSH. Man, I just love LUSH. I had never heard of them until a little over a year ago when hubby and I stumbled into their story in Center City Philadelphia while out on a date night.
The wonderful smells coming out of the doors onto the nasty street sidewalk literally lulled us into the shop and I’ve been hooked ever since. LUSH uses fresh organic fruits, vegetables and oils in all of their products. I’ve used their Lemony Flutter ($14.95) on my hands and it’s divine on those cracked dry hands that are so common in cold weather.
A couple of months ago, I was at a friend’s house for a party. A neighbor brought Mac & Cheese muffins, which was basically your regular homemade Mac & Cheese but rather than making it in a baking dish – they were made in a muffin tin. Everyone loved it! Everyone loves Mac & Cheese of course and by making them in the muffin tin they were finger food friendly.
This past weekend I was off to a party and decided to try and make them again with a pretzel crust in honor of National Pretzel Day later this week (April 26th) and a shipment of pretzels I had received from Snyders. They were awesome! I actually made them in the mini-muffin tin to make them even easier to pick up and everyone adored them. Here’s the recipe:
Crunchy Mac & Cheese Mini Muffins
*2 cups cooked elbow macaroni
*2 tablespoons butter
* 2 tablespoons flour
* 1 1/2 cups of shredded chedder cheese
* 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
* 2 cups of milk
* 1 cup chopped pretzel rods
* pinch nutmeg
* pinch cayenne pepper
* pinch ground black pepper
1. Cook the macaroni until done, drain and set side.
2. In a saucepan on the stove, melt the butter and add the flour over medium heat.
3. Add the milk and stir until thickened.
4. Add the cheese slowly and stir until it’s all melted.
5. Add the pinch of nutmeg, cayenne pepper and ground black pepper to taste.
6. Pour the sauce mixture over the macaroni.
7. Spoon small bits of the macaroni mixture into mini muffin tin.
8. Top with the crushed pretzels.
9. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
10. Let the muffins cool for a bit on your counter before you attempt to take them out or they won’t retain shape. But if you wait another 15-20 they will retain their shape and are good to go!
