Since my little guy was born I had all intentions of being on the baby wearing train. It just made perfect sense. You got to keep your baby close to you, as well as have the opportunity to be somewhat productive. Win win right? There are a bunch of different types of carriers, and one type I like at this point is the wrap style. The Baby K’tan Carrier is that type, and makes baby wearing both easy and comfortable.
The Baby K’tan Carriers give you the wrap style without all the “wrapping”. The original carrier ($62.99) is made out of cotton, and the new Breeze style (which I tried $67.99) is made out of both cotton and mesh. This mesh/cotton construction reduces heat and moisture, making it more breathable and comfortable for the infant and caregiver during outdoor active use, while retaining the same stability and ease-of-use as the original.
One thing about wraps is that they can sometimes be difficult to figure out and put on, but The Baby K’tan Carrier makes it easy by using a 2 loop structure. This structure allows you to use the carrier in as many as 9 different ways to suit your needs, and can hold up to 35 pounds. Another good thing about this particular wrap is that it’s not one size fits all. They have different sizes so that you can choose the size that fits you best.
The original carrier comes in four different colors (soft sand, warm cocoa, basic black, sage green), and 2 organic styles (natural, pure honey). The breeze style only comes in 2 colors, white and black. I thought that was the only downside to the Breeze Carrier. Although it is mesh and able to breath I think black is a tough color for hot days since black is known to attract sun. White of course dirties easily which is a definite downside since babies are known to bring messes.
Anything that is said to be good for my baby’s emotional and physical development is good for me. It took some time for our little guy to be comfortable being worn, but it’s starting to stick. I think that as his head gets stronger it will be even better. In the meantime I will continue to use The Baby K’tan Breeze Carrier, and look forward to it even more once the weather turns and I can “wear” my son outside!
I was provided with a Baby K’tan Breeze carrier for the purposes of this review. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
