Downward Facing Mommy
I love yoga class. I love the music, I love the atmosphere. I love that I get to spend the last three minutes of class lying in corpse pose, and that I'm not supposed to do anything except relax my face and focus on my breath. How great is that? But the getting there was always kind of hectic. I was usually the one running into the gym two minutes before class started, in my last clean T-shirt with my unrolled yoga mat tucked hastily under my arm. After getting my kindergartener on the bus and dropping my preschooler off before the start of circle time, I was left darting around like a maniac so I could leave my toddler in the childcare center, get to the studio, set down my mat and find some inner peace.
I have, however, found one thing to make those morning jaunts to yoga at least a bit less crazy, and a lot more stylish (though I confess, I'm still wearing the same pair of ratty black yoga pants I've had for years) ... a yoga mat bag. It's Bagnificent makes fabulous ones (yoga and pilates style) that are cute and functional.
I purchased a bag when I finally grew tired of fishing my unrolled mat from the cavernous, dusty recesses of my minivan ... and I'll tell you, I'm like a new yogi! I always get tons of compliments on my mat bag (I have the Good and Plenty pattern shown below), and it's way cuter than the usual suspects you see at Target. And at only $20-25 each, the price is comparable to discount store wares, and much cheaper than higher-end styles I've seen. They come in so many great patterns, have a drawstring closure to keep your mat from sliding out, and (best of all) a sturdy strap for easy carrying. Now my mat stays rolled up and clean, and my hands are free to carry other things (or children, as the case usually is).
In addition to the mat bags, the designer also does custom orders, including gym and tote bags (you can match your mat bag or go for an entirely different print!). She can also customize a mat bag to fit extra towels, yoga bricks or straps. Prices for custom orders vary, but average at around $40.
Mommies With Style readers will get a free pocket or free monogramming with any mat bag order. Just order on-line as usual, then send an email to the address on the site and note that you found them through Mommies With Style. So check it out ... a more centered mommy might just be in your future. Namaste.

Father's Day isn't too long from now, and we're starting to worry, "what is the perfect gift for a dad?" Put yourself in Daddy's shoes: you're married to a Mommy with Style who obsesses over the BEST diaper bag to fit her lifestyle... and it has to look cute and sassy. Hmmmm... what's a dad to do?
About 2 stops later, I didn't have a need to carry my adorable bag--he was all about the
Talk about ease, in addition to the 2 mesh side pockets on the outside of the bag, there are also 2 zippered bottle pockets on the sides--that camoflauge their use and just look like normal pockets. In the front of the bag is a, are you sitting down?, wipes holder! You just thread the wipes through and when you need one, pull down the velcro flap and--tada!--you have a nice, clean wipe popping out at you!! No need to rummage with those dirty hands when you NEED a wipe. (Come on, we have husbands, you know what they're like when they NEED a wipe!)

I never realized the multitude of options available to keep my baby's feet warm and clean. With my first, I stuck to socks--didn't even bother to explore soft-soled shoes. Comparably, my baby's feet are SO spoiled!

I'm in pocket heaven. Ladies, let me tell you, this bag has pockets-- over 15 pockets! On the back are two large, flat pockets (one, which is about as large as the single pocket on the back of the regular Duo, holds the traditional Skip*Hop changing pad; the other is about half the size.) The front of the bag has 3 pockets, all about the same size, and they close with magnetic snaps, which means no messing around with velcro. A diapee and wipee will easily fit in each. {As I'm writing the review, I'm finding even more pockets!} Inside one of these pockets is a smaller pocket--perfect for your cell. And inside another are pen holders. The next pocket is along the top of the bag. This pocket zippers shut and is a shallow pocket--very long--similar to the zippered pockets along the top of the other Skip-Hops, only a lot longer. And it includes an absolute necessity for any bag -- a key clip!!!

What little girl doesn't love to raid Mommy's jewelry box to "primp and fuss?" Upon first seeing jewelry from Fairy Tale Jewels, I thought, "this is the ultimate in dress-up."

I love spring! I love the flowers, the t-shirts and shorts, running in the park, and park days and picnics! Always looking for ways to make my days easier, I'm so glad I found

Even with digital cameras, it happens. The piles of photos that were ordered start collecting. Each is too cute, too sweet, or too funny to toss. And, so, the shoe boxes fill. And every once in a while, someone will find a shoe box and spend hours pouring over it, rubbing fresh thumbprints over older ones, dog-earring the favorites, and even covering them with crumbs from cookies and buttery grease from popcorn. There MUST be a better way!
Before my oldest was born, I was shocked I didn't receive any memory books or albums. This is a gift that all new moms will treasure. There is nothing like preserving a memory.

Before I had kids, I never would have considered wearing them. I looked at mamas who slung their babies and thought, "ewww... that's just so unattractive, and unappealing." But I've learned that baby wearing can be both cool and stylish--and so helpful for you and your baby.
This is one of my favorite posts of the season--I've been holding off purchasing my son's sandals, because I knew this sale was coming.
