Calling all Hip Chicks.....

Now you and your little princess can coordinate in style thanks to the Hip Chicks line of clothing available at Hip Chicks Boutique! Hip Chicks mother and daughter outfits are available in infant through size 8 for daughters and in small through x-large and maternity sizes for hip mommies. The small fits sizes 2-4, a medium 6-8, a large 10-12 and an x-large 12-14. Get this - custom sizes are available at no extra charge - how extraordinary is this? You just pick the style and fabric you would like the ensemble in. Each outfit is one of a kind and made with the highest quality materials.

I had a tough time deciding what style to choose let alone in which fabric since there are endless options! The Hip Chicks Skirt Top seems like it would be the most flattering and comfortable skirt. It has a smocked waist which means you can gain or loose 10 lbs. and it still fits! Also, it’s great for pregnancy. Guess what - it also doubles to be worn as a top! How neat is that? There are removable and adjustable straps included that allow it to be worn with a bra and also as a halter top.

I ended up getting a custom made Sonya Skirt for myself in the Hippy Chick fabric and had a coordinating Hip Chicks Mini-Prairie Skirt and Tank made for my daughter. The Mini-Prairie Skirt has three tiers, an adjustable elastic waist band (how cool is that?) and trim along the hem (rick rack for the younger girls and pom-poms for the older girls). The coordinating tank is a classic baby tank and has an appliqué in matching fabric with accenting trim. Also included was a matching headscarf that you can tie around your daughter's head and knot it behind her neck. It is so adorable! My daughter loves how she looks and can't stop staring in the mirror!

The Sonya Skirt has a cute large flower appliqué that wraps around the side of the skirt and has a matching tie on the side. The skirt is available in any size and length. I love how the skirt looks and feels on me. We look so cute together in our matching outfits! We were out taking pictures the other day in the outfits and the neighborhood moms all commented on how hard it is to find cute coordinating outfits like the ones we had on. I have been looking for quite some time, so I know how difficult it is to find matching outfits let alone ones that are so stylish and comfortable!

Hip Chicks Boutique carries the Hip Chicks line as well as other popular designer brands for boys and girls. The owner Denise was such a pleasure to work with and what could be better these days than fabulous customer service?

You can save 15% off your purchase and get FREE shipping by writing Mommies With Style in your ordering instructions and the discount will be refunded to you.

Less plastic and more eco-friendly toys at Worldwide Child (25% off)

There are some familiar and not so familiar toys for sale on Worldwide Child, but all of them are noise and plastic free. My son recently received and adores his Melissa & Doug Sushi Set from Worldwide Child (although all it's done for me is make me crave spicy tuna roll on a daily basis). He's actually really funny with it - he uses his chopsticks to dip his sushi pieces in the soy sauce and everything.

Worldwide Child sells tons of wooden toys, Melissa & Doug and others. They have a great collection of wooden blocks for sale. They sell other natural toys as well made of materials like silk, wool and more.

And here's a great coupon code for them. Use code MWS for 25% off your entire order.

Colorful and stylish: Work doesn't have to be boring!

I've been embarrassing myself for quite a while now by carrying my laptop either by throwing it into regular diaper bag, or carrying it (horrors!) without a bag! I certainly couldn't allow myself to be caught with my husband's boring black laptop bag!

So I was thrilled when I found Kara B bags. They're stylish, reasonable and durable enough to carry my prized laptop. There are several styles to chose from and 3 fabric types -- I have the laminated cotton canvas messenger in green swirl. The fabric is thick and hard--just what I want to protect my laptop. The bag closes with velcro and inside is a padded divider (to protect your laptop and separate it from paper work.) There's also a cell pocket and key-clip (definitely important features when you're running to an appointment) as well as a zippered pocket for your essentials. An outside back pocket for more papers, folders and magazines as well as a small pocket on the side keeps your papers organinzed. Additionally, the bottom has feet to protect the bag and help it stand straight and an adjustable shoulder strap.

The messenger is just one of the bags available. Other products include a backpack, tote and Euro Briefcase as well as accessories.

And for the working mom? You can add the diaper kit: a zippered wet bag with a padded changing pad and 2 elastic bottle holders that will attach to the inside of the bag.

KaraB is offereing 15% off for MWS readers. Enter code MWS15 in the comments section and the discount will be refunded. Offer good through June 30.

If you can't beat 'em get a Petunia Pickle Bottom Bag

I never sat at the popular girls lunch table in high school. Perhaps this is why I was so resistant to Petunia Pickle Bottom diapers bags. They were the bags that all the popular moms were carrying when I had my son. And I was a rebel. I went so far out of my way pretending not to want one, not to need one, that I bought and tossed about six other bags last year, "saving" about the cost of two or three PPB's (yes, the bag is referred to by initials, like a celeb or an institution) .

You'd think a style rebel like myself would be a tough sell for these bags. But after actually taking this diaper bag out for a spin I am falling prey to its charm. I appreciate, for instance, the way the changing pad is attached. When you zip out the front of the bag, you have an instant changing station without icky gaps where your baby's pristine flesh might come in contact with public changing surfaces. Hmmm. That's reassuring. And there are the little things, like a sturdy clip for my keys. I could have used that a few weeks ago at mommy and me. One of the other kids "hid" my unclipped keys and they are still missing.

I also like the light interior of my bag (I have the boxy backpack in velveteen, a little less common than the Asian brocade bags). I can see what is in there. I am still compulsively looking for my keys in the black hole that was the other bag. The metal hardware is nice too, nothing plastic or flimsy. It makes me feel like I am hanging out with old money. People who ride horses and such. I'm comfortable carrying the bag as both a messenger or a backpack, and it is a snap to sling it on both of my strollers. And I have to say, I have been stopped several times by people who have commented on the bag. It's like I joined a club. And I feel... popular!

I won't let it get to my head though. I now know that the PPBs are more than just a pretty bag. They are hardworking, deep and complex. They have many unexplored pockets and the ability to take on even the most undignified tasks (changing my son's diaper) with panache and aplomb. Just like... me! Ok, perhaps I could take a cue from those popular moms and get the frizz ironed out of my hair. But one thing at a time. I'm on my way to mainstream fashion recovery, and Petunia is my flotation device.

Enter the code STYLE at POUT before June 30th and you will receive free ground shipping when you order a PPB bag. And be sure to check out the PPB website for a fab virtual fashion show of their new designs.

A free email account that helps support a cause

I know this isn't a product review, but thought this was a good little bit to post about. I recently received info on BreastCancerMail.com -- a new site and free email service that just launched. A small ad (text-based) is placed at the top of each email (similar Yahoo or others that have text-based ads) that you send.

The advertising money made from these go towards helping to fight Breast Cancer. 100% of the proceeds made on the site are donated to breastcancer.org.

Exquisite One-Of-A-Kind Birth Announcements

Before my second son was born I began searching for that very special birth announcement. With my first child, I had so much difficulty finding something perfect that I actually made my own. I had no time for that this time though with 2 kids! So after a thorough, in-depth search I fell in love with Belly Bean Designs. Belly Bean Designs custom designs each and every photo birth announcement! I thought how incredible is that to have my child’s announcement designed just for him. And I loved the picture layouts and accent colors they used. It was such a simple, easy process to go through. I requested samples and received them in just a few days.

All of the samples blew me away and I knew working with Belly Bean Designs was definitely the right choice for me! Jessica, the owner and designer, works with you one-on-one to create your customized announcement. She was so amazing to work with! She made several proofs for us to choose from which turned out to be incredibly difficult as both my husband and I found all of her ideas to be extraordinarily beautiful.

She also made as many changes as we wanted until we had our perfect announcement! Our final choice was printed on exquisite Endura Metallic 5x5 paper. When the announcements arrived I was so excited I tore open the box and I have to say they absolutely took my breath away. So many people have told me they are the most beautiful announcements they have ever seen.

Belly Bean Designs also offers thank you cards, bookmarks matching your announcements, graduation announcements, christening invitations, party invitations and more! Order with Belly Bean Designs and use the exclusive coupon code for Mommies With Style Readers BBDMWS for 10% off your order!

Diaper Bag Friday: Haiku Bags

Having heard a lot of buzz surrounding the Haiku Bags, I was curious to see one in person.

So I took one look at this bag and my initial thought was that it appeared great for toddler-carrying needs. But then I was surprised by the measurements (14"w x 11"h x 5.5" d), as that isn't toddler-bag size. Basically it's a bag that wears it's size well and does not seem that big, but it's certainly big enough for newborn carrying needs as well.

Organization is great: there's 8 inside pockets (think bottle, sippy, diapers, wipes and more) and a magnetic snap closure really keeps it shut nicely. The inside lining matches the flap pattern (asian or flower)

Use coupon code mommieswithstyle for 15% off your order before June 18, 2006 on any bag not on sale on the site.

Celebrity swag: Julia Roberts owns a Haiku, as does Heidi Klum.

Cuddle up with a Dolly of a Deal!

Clothing and and accessories for these dolls are also on sale for amazingly low prices. I picked up a stroller for less than $3 after the discounts. This sale ends May 30th.

Caffeine-Free and Lovely For Your Lips

Sadly, I read not too long ago that (the large size of) my beloved blended-ice coffee drink from a popular coffee house chain has more calories and saturated fat than a Big Mac! A freaking BIG MAC for crying out loud! I think it may be time for a new treat!!

So I was thrilled to try the Perk Lip Lattes by Crazy Rumors. A yummy coffee fix that is calorie and caffeine free, these lip balms smell and taste like your favorite cup of coffee with lots of flavors (like Amaretto, French Vanilla and Hazelnut). For girls that are more Earl Gray than Mocha Java, check out the Tea Balms (with treats like Ginger Peach and Spiced Chai).

I live in the Midwest, the land of six-month long winters and chapped lips ... so I am a total lip-balm girl. I have one in every jacket pocket, in my gym bag, my car, and several in my purse. These lip balms not only taste great, they are super conditioning. They have definitely won a spot in my regular rotation.

All lip balms are vegan friendly and made with all natural ingredients like Jojoba, Olive and Avocado Oils. The balms are available in both tubes and tins and are a steal at $4 each. Mommies with Style readers can shop with the code mommies and get one free with the purchase of two or more. Enter your desired flavor and packaging in the message section at checkout.

16 weeks pregnant: Zoya nail polish

So several weeks ago ago, I was newly pregnant and finger-deep in those soap and water bowls that they soak your hands in while you're having a manicure. As I was looking around, a sign on the wall in the boutique caught my eye.

It was an advertisement for Zoya nail polish and it was outlining the benefits of using Zoya when pregnant: It's free of all those nasty chemicals in regular polish that supposedly aren't safe to breath in - especially when you aren't pregnant. (The product listing notes these chemicals are: formaldehyde, toluene or dibutyl phthalate.)

I figured what the heck, and selected a color from their selection of Zoya polishes. The first thing I was excited about is that it didn't have the nasty smell of normal nail polish, which was great as I was starting to get morning sickness that was set off by smell. Second, it applied and lasted like normal nail polish - which was my only concern with it. ("Will this peel in two days?" No, it didn't peel any sooner than any other polish on my nails does.)

So I thought I'd pass it along to you all - pregnant or not - as, who wants to smell and use nasty chemicals when there is a more natural option. You can select from an array of colors on Amazon.com, and it ranges from $5-9 a bottle.

Save 20% at Disney

My tiny son is Potty Trained. (YAY!!!) Finding underpants that he likes and fit well has been difficult. But we love the underpants available at Disney Shopping.

Each pair has a different character (girls are available, too) on this set of seven, making getting dressed each morning very exciting. The fit is great--the size twos are just a little big on his 18-24 month body. And they're so much softer than the briefs you find at the big stores.

Already on sale from $19.95 to $12.99, save an extra 20% off all merchandise with code TAKE20 through May 25.

Bohemian Baby - for even the "not so bohemian" types!

I am not the type of mom to buy organic food. As far as baby food is concerned, I'm pretty much a Gerber mom all the way. So I find it interesting that I volunteered to review Bohemian Baby organic baby food. And I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Bohemian Baby is the first fresh organic homemade baby food producer that will deliver to your home. They make everything from "Bo Baby" basics and gourmet meals to yogurt and fruit snacks. You just pick your menu and it's shipped overnight to your house.

My ten-month old son, Cooper, sampled seven different fruits and vegetables: Pure Golden Pears; Pure Fiji Apples; Apple and Oats Blend; Pure Mango; Pear, Blueberry and Raisin Blend; Sweet Potatoes and Kale; and Yellow Squash, Carrot and Broccoli. They come packaged in simple yet very attractive glass jars and the serving size is quite large (5 oz compared to a 4 oz Gerger "Stage 2" jar). Since I never eat vegetables, I let Cooper be the sole judge of the veggies. He really liked them a lot!

But I have to rave about the fruits. Poor Cooper didn't get to eat any of the pears - I ATE THEM ALL. Seriously, they were so good I couldn't stop eating them. My husband thought I was nuts but I still happily gobbled up the entire jar of pears and half of the apples.

I didn't get to sample any of the food for toddlers but the menu looks really cool - basil pesto pasta, cuban black beans and butternut squash and risotto are just three examples. Check out the full line of food.

As for pricing, it's not cheap. If you live in the Los Angeles Area, it is more reasonable because the food does not have to be shipped overnight (or can be picked up). Outside of LA, it must be overnighted for obvious reasons. If you're going on vacation and don't want to pack food with you it could also be a good option. But since cost is all subjective, take a look and decide for yourself what you think.

And don't forget to mention Mommies With Style to get 10% off your first order!

So thanks to Bohemian Baby for changing my thoughts on organic food - who knows, maybe I'll start browsing through the organic aisle at the store now. Brown eggs anyone?

Bugaboo + Carry You = True Stroller Love

I was once a stroller whore. At one point, I counted 12 strollers that had been in my life. And that wasn't even counting the umbrella quickies tossed in airport lobbies the world over.

I knew I was ready for a commitment when I got my Bugaboo, and indeed it was true love. But if there was one thing, one little thing, that caused my eye to wander, it was all those cheap tarty strollers with their sexy little consoles. How could I not feel a pang when I had nowhere convenient to place my keys, sunglasses and frappucino? And had I made the right choice for my son? The other kids had snack trays, and all he had was a lousy foam rubber safety bar to gnaw on.

Enter the Carry You Siena Stroller Console. Made for strollers like the Bugaboos and the Zoopers, and many other with bumper bars, it is an answer to my prayers. A marvel of velcro and nylon, this nifty little snack and drink holder attaches very securely to the bumper in five seconds flat and holds a sippy cup (steadied by adjustable velcro straps), a couple of pieces of fruit and a bag of cheerios no problemo. It also keeps my son from gnawing on the foam, which was actually doing some damage. Better he should gnaw on the fruit!

If I am feeling selfish, the Carry You Siena can be mounted on the parent bar and hold all my stuff. But I don't want to share. I'm going to order my own console. I'm considering the Milan. Both the Siena and Milan Carry You Stroller Consoles can be found at Let's Go Strolling. MWS readers enter the code MWSCYS in the comments when you checkout and receive free shipping on the Sienna. Hurry - this offer expires June 16. But my love for my Bugaboo, I'm glad to report, is still going strong.

Annoucing our summer guide - coupons and more!

CD'S 4 Kids!

We received “My Very Own Music CD” when our daughter was born and were amazed at how excited she was when she heard her name when we played the CD! Now almost 3 years later, she still asks to have it played so she can hear her name in each song on the CD. The songs are adorable and upbeat! The first song is about waking up and the last song ends with a goodnight song. In between are songs that teach about the alphabet, sharing, animals, driving in a car and many more! Each song captures a child's attention and imagination. Everyone in the family can enjoy and even dance to the music. You can choose from over 3,500 names. Labels can be personalized for free to say "With All Our Love, Mommy and Daddy", or anything else you would like to say, with up to 55 letters.

The website has more than just “My Very Own Music CD,” they also feature other personalized song CD's and even storybook personalized CD's that feature Spiderman, Dinosaurs and more. The musical CD's are compiled of between 5 and 10 entertaining songs. With personalized music, children build name recognition and self-esteem through the upbeat songs. Some of the CD's are also available in Spanish and French. I think the quality sounds better on the actual CD than on their website where you can listen to samples of the songs.

Mia Bossi: the diaper bag that doesn't look like a diaper bag

Here's one that doesn't scream "diaper bag." Mia Bossi makes swanky diaper bags that are so stylish you forget their baby function. Yet nothing is compromised in the design: it comes with a changing pad and a zip in and out inside lining, pockets for diapers, wipes and more. There's a keychain and cell phone holder for easy access.

The straps are adjustable, making it easy to clip this bag onto a stroller.

This bag is great - I will say this, it's a lot bigger in person than I had expected. The dimensions are as follows: 11" (h) x 7" (w) x 15" (l) . Compare that to the Fleurville Mothership or a Posh Baby and this bag ranks up there in size. In other words, this is a good bag for heavy packers. Great for a Mom with a newborn or Mom with a toddler and newborn who has serious packing needs.

Check it out - the "Maria" is the diaper bag from Mia Bossi and it comes in Mocha and Tangerine. It retails for $330. They currently do not take orders online, so call the number on the website and mention Mommies with Style through the end of May to receive 10% off your order.

Several celebs are Mia Bossi diaper bag owners, the list includes: Natasha Henstridge, Shanna Moakler, Joely Fisher, Christine Taylor, Britney Spears and more.

I Gotta Wear Shades

I cannot resist a baby wearing sunglasses. They look so cute, like an itsy-bitsy movie star waiting for their close up. And not only are they a fashion statement, sunglasses are important for keeping your little ones safe in the summer sun, as they block their sensitive eyes from harmful UV rays.

But no matter how cute, or how useful they are, anyone who has tried to put sunglasses on a little face (for more than four seconds) knows it's often a no-win situation. The hard plastic edges are hardly safe or comfortable. Not to mention that very few self-respecting babies or toddlers will choose to leave a pair on their face when there are so many other fun things to do with them (say sticking them in their mouth, or whipping them to the ground and then screeching for them to see how many times mommy will actually pick them up!).

But now there's a better alternative. Made of soft material, with a stay-put strap and fun prints like leapord skin, Parker G sunglasses are stylish and functional too. Check out the hats (gotta keep that head protected as well!) with the glasses attached, the Bambino and Shady Baby styles are adorable!

Shop Parker G's with the special MWS code mommiestyle and receive 30% off your order through August 31.

Useful products from Atea Kids at 15% off

These pads from Atea Kids can help to make time-outs consistent (one same spot no matter where you are) and help answer the question of "how much longer" as it comes with a little timer that counts the time down.

The mat zips up for trips and sells for $19.99.

Also check out their other product - the Drop Stop. This is a great little invention, for those of us with toddlers all know how much our kids love to throw their snacks/sippy cups/whatever they are holding over the edge of their seats/stroller. The Drop Stop prevents it from hitting the ground and stops you from having to play the drop and pick it up game. It's $6.95. I gotta say, I LOVE this product for the plane - where everything gets thrown and then lost in the under the seats abyss.

Use coupon style15 for 15% off your order.

Ready, Set, Click!

When my two-year-old was ready to start clicking on Elmo and friends, I found that his hands were too small to control the mouse. Additionally, with the scroll button, back button and left and right click buttons doing different things, learning to click was a complex process for a toddler.

Enter the Kidzmouse, a mini-mouse created for children ages 2-10. Smaller in size than a "normal" computer mouse, the Kidzmouse fits comfortably in my toddlerz palm. While it has 2 buttons (a left- and right-click), I was able to program the mouse so that all buttons act as left clicks. Rather than a tap, the buttons wrap around the mouse and work with a squeeze, the same way a child's hand works.

We use the optical mouse, one that uses laser technology and does not require a mouse ball. It connects with a USB to your computer, allowing your "adult" mouse to work at the same time. Ours came with a CD-rom that contains an educational game. Perfect for learning the use of the mouse (and for some educational-entertainment a little different than turning on the TV.)

Kidzmouse is available at Ergoguys, where the Pooh mouse with software is only $14.95!

Please note: If you order the optical mouse, you will need a mouse pad or wooden surface, as optical mice generally do not work on plastic or glossy surfaces (especially white surfaces).

Emergency Preparedness - It's in the Bag

Living in California, I'm constantly hearing about the need to prepare for "the big one". So I periodically pick up distilled water at the grocery store. Flashlights. Some power bars. However, a week later, the water is in my daughter's fish "Sparky's" fishtank, the power bars are in the bellies of half the kids on the block, the flashlights have been stripped of their batteries in order to re-juice the TiVo remote, and I am back at square one.

That is why I love Emergency Cafe. They offer one stop shopping for all your disaster preparedness needs. What a huge relief for busy moms like me, who hardly have time to buy toilet paper, let alone all the items we'd need in an actual emergency.

Cari Butler, the woman behind Emergency Cafe, is a disaster preparedness expert, and a busy mom. She understands how hard it is for most of us to assemble and organize critical emergency supplies for our families. So she came up with a solution. Cari, who also teaches seminars and consults with several celebrity clients, sells pre-packed kits to busy families nationwide. She has thought of every detail, from water purification tablets, to first aid, food and search and rescue supplies.

I was surprised when I realized that the cost of the kit's ingredients, is actually less than you would spend driving all over town, trying to assemble it all yourself. I also love that it is all self contained in a high quality backpack or duffel, which is less likely to fall prey to those little snack and battery raiders. So sorry Sparky!

MWS readers, email Cari at info@emergencycafe.com when you place your order for a deluxe 4 person kit and you will receive a free earthquake guidebook that will help you and your family prepare a plan for an emergency . Even better than this offer, you will have the peace of mind of knowing you are prepared. That is a feeling any mom can appreciate.

Vegetable Cashmere for Earth Mommies and Babies

Yeah, that's right. Vegetable cashmere. That's what soybean fiber is being touted as by people in the know. And the clothes made from it are not only super soft, they wash well and they're durable and earth-friendly too!

Baby Soy USA makes a trademark line of baby items which features cute and comfy basics like bodysuits, tees and pants, as well as blankets, bibs and hats. In yummy color combinations, it's easy to mix and match your baby's wardrobe with all these basic pieces.

In addition to their private label clothing line, Baby Soy also makes lots of fun gifts and accessories for moms and babes. I'm coveting the Grand Cape (because every kid wants to be a superhero!) and the sweet tutus.

There's also a selection of standard favorites like Baby Bjorn Carriers , Diapees and Wipes, Little Twig bath products and Posh Baby diaper bags. Shop with the code mwstyle and receive 10% off your order through June 15.

Diaper Bag Friday: Love Packin' my Packabe

Sometimes, we need a little pick-me-up, and as a bag lover, I've been known to look to my bags. Standing out amongst the solid browns, pinks and blues is my JuJuBe Packabe diaper bag in Perky Perennials. This bag is screaming "spunky for summer!"

JuJuBe has a great concept--they created several bags and didn't seem to miss a beat. All JuJuBe bags have a Teflon coating on the exterior, not only are they waterproof, but they are stain and spill resistant. And the interior lining is waterproof as well, and a bright or light color, thus no black hole.

The changing pads are probably the nicest I've used. The fabric matches the bag, and sandwiched inside is a memory foam, so that the kids are (semi)comfortable during their changes.

Did I mention that JuJuBe thought about everything? All of their bags have Thinsulate which keeps hot, hot and cold, cold. And the pockets... lets just say there are more pockets than even I know what to do with, including an entire mommy section with zippered and mesh pockets, picture slots and a LONG key clip. And they heard our wishes--no velcro! Just very strong magnets that work in multiple ways.

I've been carrying the Packabe for several weeks, and I keep coming back to it. Partly because of the fun colors, but more for the function. The bag is SO stuffable. I love that I was packing two stuffed diapees and wipees in the main section, plus pajamas for both kids one night last week. Late that night, after changing the kids into their pajamas, I was able to stuff both boys' clothing, including sneakers, into the main section. That's a lot of stuff! The mommy pocket is fantastic. I'm no longer losing my keys because there's a super long key strap, and the keys can also attach to the magnets--double the help! I keep my pretty necklace in the zippered section, and there's a cell holder and several other small pockets.

The back of the bag fits the amazing changing pad, but has additional room for books or magazines.

All this, and the Packabe is convertible! For the longest time I was carrying it as a messenger, different because it is taller than wide. It took a bit of work to figure out, but when I determined how to convert it to a backpack, I surprised myself by becoming a backpack gal afterall! (There are instructions on JuJuBe's website).

JuJuBe's products include 6 bags, including Daddy Bags, as well as a variety of accessories like brag books, paci pods and snack capsules.

Did it pass my pop quiz? Yes! Making me a happy teacher!
_x_ Key Clip
_x_ Stuffable enough for 2 ages 2 and under
_x_ mulitple carrying possibilities
_x_ light interior
_x_ wipable (I've been known to spill a coffee or two in the past)
_x_ easily hangs on stroller bar
_x_ mulitple pockets

The perfect baby shower centerpiece

The whole "diaper cake" concept has been around forever, but I hadn't seen one until recently from Adorable Diaper Cake Designs.

They are appropriately named as these are more adorable than I had imagined. What a fantastic conversation piece and centerpiece one of these diaper cakes would make for a baby shower. They come in pink, yellow and blue, each layer is made up of a swaddling blanket rolled around newborn diapers.

They also make potty training cakes! They are filled with pull-ups and topped with a crown or tiara (depending on the sex) and story about potty training. They currently offer The Princess and the Potty but The Prince and the Potty will also be coming soon.

Aqua Swimwear makes a splash with fab Mommy and Me swimsuits

I have to admit that ever since my mom made those floor length blue gingham matching gowns for me and herself, circa 1978, I have not been a huge fan of mother-daughter sets. So when I first heard about matching mother/daughter swimsuits by Aqua Swimwear, I was skeptical. But I've been won over!

Aqua Swimwear really rose (or should I say floated?) to the occasion and created a collection that any mom and daughter would be proud to sport. Designer Natalie Walker was inspired by her own daughter, and left behind a long history with large companies like Speedo, Nautica and Jones NY, to create her own line.

Suits are cut age appropriately, rather than identically. It is the prints that match up. A good thing since my 6 yr old and I can hardly pull off the same bikini. The suits are fully lined, the fabric is extremely high quality (made to last) and the colorful, gorgeous, graphic prints will make you long for an excuse to take an extended trip to somewhere sunny. Both kids and moms can also choose from coordinated coverup skirts, tees and accessories.

Even though swimsuit shopping usually has me totally anxiety riddled, for once I am ok with it. As long as there is no blue gingham involved

Mamalicious? Check out Paper Mama

If you love those saccharine greeting cards with sweet sentiments and flowers on them, you probably won't like the cards by Paper Mama. But I for one, think they are fabulous!

My favorite one says "Did you ever think your breasts would give you so much trouble?" Just right for your new-mommy girlfriends. Or for that friend that helped you through pregnancy heartburn, colic and potty training? The perfect thank you card ... "What would I do without your help/advice/encouragement? You're my Mama Guru!"

The rest of the family is not left out though, because Paper Mama makes cards for Dads,
Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and (love this!) Big Brothers and Sisters. There's also a section of cards just for Mama's Helpers, with cards made just for your OB ("You rock, Doc. Thanks for making our family bigger and better!"), baby-sitter or teacher. What a great idea!

Mommies with Style readers can shop all the fun cards and gifts at Paper Mama with the code mommieswithstyle and get free domestic shipping on all orders $20 or more through August 31. Check it out!

Control your Toddler!

Well, you may not always be able to control your two year old, but now, at least you can control their hair. Jenerations makes products for good girls and boys. Count me in!

It's ironic that I never needed "product" for my daughters. But my son Fox has fine, curly, blond hair that looks so darling in ringlets and so not darling when he gets up in the a.m. He gets some serious frizzed out bedhead.

And so began my quest for a good, non-sticky, lightweight, clean-rinsing, children's hair gel.

I first learned about Jenerations line of skin and hair products for kids, at the Hollywood "Boom Boom" room. If you recently watched Vh-1's "The Fabulous Life of Celebrity Kids" you might have noticed their gel being touted as a hot product by celebrity stylist Jayneoni. Well now the secret is out.

I have put this product to use on my non-celebrity son with amazingly good results. And last week when we held our photoshoot for my clothing line, the gel was used on several of the little models. Everyone was passing it around, commenting on how great it worked, how nice it smelled (light and fresh, not overpowering) and especially how unsticky it was. It worked to spike straight hair, and to tame flyaways as well as it worked to preserve my son's ringlets. In fact, it was tested and loved by so many kids and moms, that I am going to have to re-order some pronto!

MWS readers get a taste of the Celeb Swag Scene when you order. Mention MWS and you will receive a free 1oz sample of another wonderful product from the Jenerations collection.

Amazing mothers' bracelets from Kennebug Boutique

As many of my friends are working on their second child (or more), I've found myself stumped to find unique baby gifts. It's so easy with #1 since there's usually a registry, or in the least you know they need almost everything. With #2, most Moms are already prepared.

So when one of my friends recently had #2, I decided to go on a search for a nice mothers' bracelet. I ended up on Kennebug Boutique and I'm thrilled with the product and purchase. I got my friend the "Luke/Ryan" and the quality was more than I could hope for.

Choose from an array of styles - from plain silver to braclets adored with crystals (pick babys' birth stones!) Be sure to check out their other items too. I also purchased for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day Grandma's Frame Bracelet and added additional frames for each grandchild.

Use coupon code STYLE10 for 10% off your order (first class shipping is always free).

Strolling for compliments

I'm a people watcher. I'll admit it. So I love when people watch me. And I'm not sure I've ever turned more heads than I have recently when pushing my new Contours Option 3 Wheel Stroller. I'm telling you, I never knew a stroller could be so stylish!

In the 3 weeks I've been using it, I've been stopped by everyone--from the bank teller to a mom at a toy store to a grandmother in a restaurant and a friend at a park. At least 2 stops a day!

The Contours is a great stroller for a baby. It comes with a carrier attachment and can fit most carseat carriers. The seat faces forward and can also convert to backwards facing (so you can see baby as you push.) It has an incredible recline and the seat is so cushioned that baby is nearly swaddled in there.

This has to be one of the smoothest rides. The wheels are rubber, but a really soft rubber so that its similar in push to the air tires of all terrain strollers. The seat even has suspension that allows for a less bumpy ride. And the turning radius is unbelieveable! My son and I have a great time turning circles without moving.

The Contours is great for shopping as well as leisurely walks. The basket is huge and is vinyl--which was wonderful today when an apple juice wasn't closed and made a big puddle--just a wipe and it was clean!

Easy to find and inexpensive, the Contours is only $129.99 at Target, as well as other independent stores.

Fun blingy clothes on Tuni & G; 20% off

Take your pick on the Tuni & G site: clothes for you, clothes for you if pregnant, or clothes for your baby. And more fun: mix and match for a Mommy and Me outfit.

Tuni & G adores shirts and outfits with crystals and fun sayings. The Mommy & Me sets are whimsical and stylish - I love "attitude" for the Mom and "attitude in training" for the baby girl. Or "boy crazy" and "crazy boy" for Mom and son.

Haute Dining ... Toddler Style

As a rule, I try not to patronize any dining establishments with my children that do not also house gigantic, indoor play centers, or that serve food that requires the use of silverware. Over six years of mommyhood has taught me that -- really --it's much better that way for all parties involved. But this handy little set just may change my mind.

Check out this Dining Set by Shoots and Ladders. It comes with a disposable bib, child's spoon and fork and a pack of wet wipes. So cute, it might even make dining with toddlers a pleasant experience.

Shoots & Ladders also makes fun changing pads, wipes cases, burp cloths and totes, all in patterns that range from playful to posh. The totes come in four sizes (the mini is adorable, and makes a great lunch bag when lined with a big ziploc bag and stocked with an ice pack), and can be mongrammed for that personal touch. Shop with the code MWS20 through June 30 and receive 20% off your purchase.

Bubble & Squeak: diaper bags made to ease your life

Now here are some great diaper bags and diaper bag accessories than I can get excited about. Bubble and Squeak makes three "diaper bag" options that are stylish and useful.

The first is the petite diaper bag. This one's great for on-the-go as it can pop over your shoulder and holds all your immediate needs. It's great when you have to run a quick errand with baby - or for Moms of toddlers who are able to seriously downsize. I love this bag. With five pockets, you can fit just about all your needs - wipes case, diapers and more. It has a little ribbon tied around the handles, as well as sterling baby bootie charms that chime as they move - cute! It sells for $48.

The small diapering bag ($40) and large diaper bag ($45) are supplementary to your diaper bag. Basically they organize and make diaper changing convenient - they provide pockets and changing pads all in one spot that you can keep together and grab easily. Both bags also close with a chocolate brown chic grosgrain ribbon.

Each bag comes in some great fabrics - select the item you'd like and click "buy now" to view the available fabrics for each item. Each bag also has a light vinyl covering - easy cleaning with a wipe down from an antibacterial cloth!

Random Acts of Style

"Random means being inspired by everything and following every whim," says Nicole Stevenson, creator of the Random Nicole brand. Based on this philosophy, Nicole designed her line of clothing and accesories for men, women and children. Her designs include hand-screened tees, pieces with hand-adorned appliques, vintage fabrics and modern prints.

I love her kids' line ... hip styles with a slightly vintage flair. My daughter has this adorable chantilly lace skirt (with a matching top) that is cute enough to wear to a party or Sunday school, but comfortable enough for a romp in the park. She's definitely going to be wearing it a lot this summer!

And, hooray! Boys are not left in the dust. Nicole makes tees for little boys (like this Open Road design, which was a hit with my four year old) that are very big-boy cool. (Note: the boys' tees run small.).

Nicole also has a great bags (including these very stylish album cover purses), cute travel pouches (stocked with trial-sized beauty essentials) and screen printed shirts for the guys in your life.

Shop Random Nicole receive 15% off any tee, plus FREE SHIPPING on any order of three items or more. Just note Mommies With Style in your ordering instructions, and the discount will be refunded to you.

Please note: because Random Nicole creates each and every piece one at a time to order, Please allow approximately 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Cupcakes and Diamonds for Mom

There was an abundance of sweetness and frosting in Los Angeles, this Thursday, when Jennie Garth and SoulMate diamonds hosted a special celebrity get-together at the ultra hip maternity store Naissance on Melrose. You can take a look at some of the pictures of the party, courtesy of FilmMagic here. The party was a celebration of motherhood, treating both new moms and those with multiple decorator-covered carseats in the Range Rover, to a selection of goodies just in time for Mother's Day. NOM, well known worldwide for outfitting pregnant celebrities, was open for shopping during the event and 20% of their sales (plus $50 for each SoulMate diamond set sold) were donated to the Children's Defense Fund.

Jennie Garth told me that she was just thrilled that NOM owner Jennifer Noonan provided the space for the stylish event. She mentioned that she shopped there with her previous pregnancies and was so happy to have Soulmate joining her to raise both funds and awareness for kids in need. The Children's Defense fund strives to ensure every child a Healthy start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and a successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. Many other actresses have recently done work for this cause, including Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Cicely Tyson, Regina King, and Deborah Santana, who flew to New Orleans to help children in flood ravished communities.

Jennie also noted the timeliness of Mother's Day and the fitting message of SoulMates unique pendants. The paired sets are made from two special diamonds cut from one single stone, documented and registered so that they will remain forever attached to each other. They are the perfect way to celebrate the eternal love between a mother and a child. These necklaces are already gracing the necks of Hollywood's hottest celebs and their loved ones, including Madonna and Lourdes, Reese Witherspoon and Ava, Joely Fisher and Skyler, Jamie Lynn Sigler and her mom, and of course Jennie and her two daughters who were there to enjoy the festivities.

Luca Bella was looking pretty in a bohemian embroidered peasant top and skirt. She had much fun decorating cupcakes with piles of candy and gummy worms, while little sister Lola Ray, danced around the store in an adorable blingy "Drama Queen" tee. There was a DJ spinning tunes that set the mood, and the adults were grooving as they perused the gorgeous maternity wear and baby goodies. It was beautiful enough to make me want to get knocked up again just so I could justify the shopping. Attendees grazed on gorgeous little sandwiches and fruit kabobs and stayed quenched with Fiji water. There was even an organic baby food buffet courtesy of Bohemian Baby.

Meanwhile, several kids lined up outside to get their faces painted and enjoyed making tees for their dogs. As far as I know, no dogs received SoulMate diamond pendants at this event. Too bad for the pooches. But at least they got some adorable blingy tees from A Wish. The company donates a portion of their proceeds from the sale of their doggie tees to animal rescue. That's good news for man's best friend!

Cheryl Hines picked up a heart pendant from the SoulMate collection for herself and her daughter, and selected "My Mom Rocks" and " I (heart) my Mommy" tees by A Wish for 2 year old daughter Catherine. She plans to put them on her daughter this weekend for Mother's Day. She also mentioned how fortunate she is to have such a sweet and easy kid, and joked "One good one is all you need!".

Also in attendance were Holly Marie Combs and son Finley, Ming Na, Anne Getty and daughter India, Melissa Joan Hart, with her mom Paula and son Mason,Kylie Bax and daughter Lito, and a gorgeously glowing pregnant Emily Rutherford. Emily looked very glam and happy, noting that life has been really great for her lately, and that this is just such a special time. SoulMate diamonds outfitted her with an interlocking puzzle piece pendant for herself and baby. It was fitting as she is waiting till the birth of her child to find out what she is having. Several guests had her pegged for a boy-baby but we'll all have to wait a few more weeks to solve that puzzle.

Of course it wouldn't be a Hollywood party without fab swag, would it? In addition to the SoulMate pendants, celebs mommies in attendance received lavish gifts including strollers and carseats from Peg Perego, Breast pumps from Medela, Petunia Pickle Bottom Bags, an Ergo Baby Carrier, a Baby Bella Maya carrier cover, a "blessing kit" from Two Plums Blessings, and Ebba Soy candles. And all of the guests were treated with goody bags, put together by Grand Avenue Baby. The bags contained prenatal yoga DVD's, Tummy Honey Belly Butter, Bread n Budder buckets, Simply Tiffany Taite Silver spoons, *pretty *little* cards* notecards, Varnish nail products, DiaperMate diaper disposal bags, Luna Bars, Fiji Water and coupons for everything from a Bellyband/Sweetness Pouch from Sweetness Products to glossing treatments from Steam Salon, to invitations and party supplies from Circle The Date.

If you are interested in obtaining a SoulMate pendant of your own, and helping out the Children's Defense Fund in the process, then you won't want to miss the upcoming auctions on Charityfolks.com. Launching on Sunday May 14th (Mother's Day) are auctions for pendants signed by and shared with ten prominent Hollywood moms and celebs, including Jennie Garth, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Rachel Ray, Sarah and Emily Hughes and Cheryl Hines. The winning bidders will forever share a common bond with the celebrity - soulmates together in their commitment to help others in need.

Soulmate pendants can also be purchased at NOM. Even if you can't come to LA and shop with the celebs, you can treat yourself to some of the same styles. Check out their maternity website at www.naissanceonmelrose.com

From One Mama to Another ... 10% Off

You know all those sayings about how you can tell a lot about a person from their hands? Well, If that's true I'm in trouble ... My hands are always in rough shape. With kids, I wash them about a bazillion times a day, and am far too lazy to remember to put lotion on when I should. Besides that, my cuticles and nails are in a sad state of affairs, as I have neither the time, money or inclination to be bothered with manicures.

But I must say, I quite enjoyed the Lucky Chick Mimosa Jasmine and Violet Hand Cream (I figured any lotion that had Mimosa in the name had to be at least worth trying!) I just got. It was super moisturizing, but didn't feel greasy at all. The scent is pretty strong, but it faded a bit after application. (I liked the smell a lot, but if you're a scent-sensitive girl, it may not be your cup of tea). The cream is full of essential oils and other skin-loving ingredients, and the fun packaging makes it a great gift. I'm keeping a tube next to my kitchen sink, as a good faith effort towards prettier hands.

The next thing in my hand beauty booty? A Spiffer Manicure Mini-Pen. This multi-tasker is so very cool, and was the talk of the table at my last girls' night out! It's a four-in-one apparatus: writing pen, cuticle pusher, nail file and nail cleaner. Okay ... so the nail cleaner part is kind of yucky - but as long as you promise not to clean your nails in public - I think it's okay. Another great thing about the Spiffer, is that it's nail file that's actually airline approved (many manicure tools aren't), so it's great for traveling! At a cool two for $5, I think it's a purse must-have. I'm giving it a (now almost well-manicured) thumbs up!

Both of these items can be purchase on-line at Hot Mama Beauty and Style. If you have never checked out Hot Mama, do it now! The site has tons of great finds for moms, babies and even dads. With a wide range of products (including body and skin care, jewelry, lingerie and other great gifts), Hot Mama features a ton of Mommies With Style favorites including Natty Products, Rockin' Baby Slings, BabyBeReady Bags, Pretty Please Originals and AllyZabba Blankets. Shop with the special MWS code stylishmommies and receive 10% off your order through June 12.

A beach chair perfect for your toddler!

We are getting ready for shore season to begin over the next couple weeks...so I have been trying to gather fun items for the beach for my 18 month old. I came across the cutest beach chair and umbrella set, perfect for a toddler or small child.

This picture doesn't show you how cute this really is, because Promises Online, the store that carries these, personalizes them with your childs name in your choice of motifs. I got a blue chair with stars on it... adorable!

The chair, which retails for $35 (including personalization and adorable packaging) makes a great gift for a spring- or summer-time birthday, and folds up for easy transport to the beach. And it comes with an umbrella that is attached, perfect for covering up when eating lunch or resting (if they ever rest!)

Choose between pink or blue, and take a look at all the designs you can choose from for customization. To order, contact Promises with your choice of motif and child's name (or Philly area ladies, stop in their Blue Bell store). If you are not interested in personalization, Baby Center carries the same chair currently at 10% off for $14.36.

Cute items on sale at Oliebollen

I was surfing randomly this morning and came across this Melissa & Doug sushi set that I've been drooling over for awhile. It's currently on sale on Oliebollen for $14.95 (normally $19.95).

I also noticed they are selling the Melissa & Doug Cutting Food Wood Set, which my son received from a friend for his second birthday and LOVES. It's on sale for $15.95, also a great price.

Visit Oliebollen.com to check out their other sales.

Computer Chic

The little black dress is a classic. Timeless and chic, it never gets boring, especially with a bit of accessorizing. Love the little black dress. The little black laptop bag? Not so much.

For all those mommies looking for a fashionable way to carry their laptop to and fro, (not the frumpy, bulky black case that can ruin even the most fabulous of outfits) look no further than Uptown Bella. Fashionista meets function with a splash of color (Lilac Sensation, Juicy Lemon and Sweet Honeydew, just to name a few), padded compartments and lots of well-designed pockets for all your essentials.

If you have already have a bag you love, but that's not quite safe for your laptop, check out the Sarah Sleeve. With easy-access front pockets for your cell phone, PDA or organizers, and yummy hues, it's quite the combo of brains and beauty (the ultimate catch, no?), and slips neatly into any large tote.

Oooh! And speaking of totes, the Jennifer Tote is perfect for busy mommies, with extra room for baby and tot must haves. I'm a sucker for pockets, and this bag has three external ones (one with zipper ... love zippered pockets even more!), a large interior zipped one, as well as a padded compartment for your laptop. So not only will you look cute, you'll be more organized! The bag also comes with a black Sarah Sleeve (though I wish it came with a bright-colored one, it's a nice bonus). Best of all, the Jennifer Tote is currently on sale ... snag it for 20%!

Shop Uptown Bella now through June 30 and receive a free ipod hoodie (a $19 value) with any laptop bag purchase. Use the code FreeMWS630Hoodie at checkout.

Wear it with pride: Adopt Proud t-shirts

Adopt Proud sells t-shirts and other paraphernalia with one simple word to show your support on the subject: Adopt.

Adopt Proud was started by a woman who will soon be traveling to Guatemala shortly to adopt her daughter. She came up with the concept of Adopt Proud because she wanted to have a way to state what was to come - pregnant women have a belly to show off, but this mother was proud too and wanted to be able to share her news, as many adopting families also want to do.

So Adopt Proud is for those people, and to support adoption even for families who don't adopt. A portion of the proceeds are donated to an adoption-related charity.

Shop Adopt Proud - go through this link, the first two shirts have discounted for Mommies with Style and are noted as such.

20% off on Childish Clothing

This one's from Danielle - use promo code "hotmomma" for 20% off your entire order on Childish Clothing before May 15th.

Week 14: Preggers n Proud maternity tees

I'm not yet wearing maternity clothes. I'm at that "is she getting fat or is she pregnant?" stage to all who don't know me. I'm walking around with my pants unbuttoned but I'm not big enough for anything yet... but when I am, I will be wearing a tee from Preggers n Proud to help celebrate my growing belly.

Preggers n Proud makes make maternity, baby and daddy tees with cute sayings on them such as, "Lovin' my Buddha Belly," and "Sexy n Showing." And for you brave unmedicated types, "Epidural Shmepidural."

Celebrity sightings in Preggers n Proud tees include: Kate Hudson in a "Loving my Buddha Belly" tee, and Britney Spears in a "Goddess with a bump" tee.

Be True to Your Shoes ... 15% off at Bags With Style

There's a book we like to read with the kids called You're All My Favorites. It's about three baby bears who ask their parents, "who is your favorite?" and the answer is always "you're all my favorites," and they go on to talk about how each baby bear is wonderful in their own way. Our family loves that book, and of course, all three of my children are my "favorite."

That's also kind of how I feel about my shoes. So many pairs, each one special. Like my tall black boots. I searched for them for two solid years before I finally found the perfect pair ...ones just the right height, that fit my calves nicely and with a heel that was skinny, but not too skinny. Or my cross trainers ... in the awesome orange and silver color combo that I love, and that take me through all my workouts. And of course, my newest darlings, my Born wedge sandals that I have big plans to spend the summer cozied up to. Each pair thrills me in their very own way.

But, I'm sad to say that I'm not very good to my shoes when they don't happen to be on my feet. My treasured black boots spend their summers wadded up at the bottom of my closet. And let's not even talk about how my shoes weather a trip in my suitcase (hastily stuck in a recycled grocery bag and crushed under my pile of clothes if you really must know). Bags With Style offers a little TLC for your beloved shoes, with a bag for every style of footwear. The bags are great for storing shoes in the off season, traveling, or even just taking them to and fro, wherever it is you might be taking them.

These adorable bags are lined in soft flannel to best protect the footwear and come in in many different sizes and styles. The shoe tote bag is great for the gym or taking extra shoes back and forth to work, with two flannel-lined shoe compartments, and room for extra stuff (also makes a great diaper bag!). I'm totally loving the lavender scented shoe stuffers and the cedar boot trees. Available in the same funky fabrics, they keep your shoes and boots in shape and smelling sweet.

Mommies With Style readers can shop with the code style and receive 15% off their order. So check out Bags With Style, and be good to your shoes. Haven't they been good to you?

Free Samples, Free Shipping and Spring Sale at Flower Peddler

I am a product Junkie. I love bath and body products and am always game to try something new. Flower Peddler has a ton of great products, and has something for everyone in your family.

I've found a lot of companies with products for babies, but the ones who offer more than or or two products for kids are few and far between. And while they do also have a full line of baby products, I love that Flower Peddler has a huge variety of cool big-kid stuff, (all free of animal products, petroleum, talc and chemical preservatives).

Summer's coming, which means my kids will spend their days getting dirty and smelly in the sun ... and of course, that also means they'll be spending lots of time getting cleaned up. Fizzy bug bath bombs, confetti bubble bath and yummy-smelling hand and body lotion, (in an amazing TWELVE different scents, including unscented) will make their tub time much more fun!

And, just in time for your Father's Day shopping, Flower Peddler offers lots of manly-man products for the grown-up (or not-so grown-up in some cases) boys on your list. Their Essentials for Him product line is a great choice with no-nonsense packaging, not-too-strong scents and rough-and-tumble names like Power Wash and Grime Fighter. My husband (an honest- to-goodness, soap-and-water-only kind of guy) gave the Elbow Grease lotion his seal of approval (but if you're looking for glowing, detailed product chit chat, I'm afraid you're out of luck. "I like it. Not too smelly. Not greasy" is about the extent of his review).

Of course ... never fear, mommies. Flower Peddler did not forget you! Lotions, bath salts, body polishes and more ... they've got a host of things to make you smooth, moisturized and good smelling!

Mommies With Style readers get FREE SHIPPING with the code MOMMIES. Offer can be combined with their Spring Sale, with many products 10-40% off! And (love this) a generous helping of samples are given with
each and every order. Check it out!

15% off on Sally Spicer bags

You may recognize Sally Spicer bags, as their dragonfly print bag is carried by Sarah Jessica Parker, Marcia Gay Harden and other celebrities, and has been featured in several magazines over the past few years.

They make three different kinds of diaper bags -- a tote, messenger bag and backpack. I personally like the messenger bag for efficiency and the un-Diaper bag look - with two interior pockets and an exterior pocket, it provides the best room for every day packing needs.

The clutch is pretty cute as well - you can mix and match, or match your baby bag with one of these.

Shop Sally Spicer and save 15% off if you place an order before June 15th. When making a purchase, use the following code: momstyle1 on the shopping cart page under order summary. The code should be entered under sales/discounts and you will then receive 15% off your order.

Dr. Bobby's soaps: PURE cleanliness

Dr. Bobby, a pediatric dermatologist, and his partner, a mom of three, has created a product line that parents and children will love--even children with tough to please skin--itchy, scratchy, allergic skin, its all "cleanable" with Dr. Bobby Skin Caring for Kids.

There are no funky colors or perfumes in this line. The only "stuff" in these products is the clean "stuff." The soaps and shampoos gently cleanse and soothe--everything from bug bites to sunburn and dried skin to diaper rash.

Currently, Dr. Bobby Skin Caring for Kids offers Moisturizing Cream, Foaming Hand Wash, Body Wash, Foaming Shampoo and The Stick, a multi-purpose balm for everything that can itch or irritate a child’s skin. In the works are suncare products and toothpaste.

The product line, which was tested for over 2 years, is 100% allergen free and an independent lab has found the same.

But the important part... what's it really like? My 2-year-old is loving it. He has so much fun pumping out the foam handsoap and shampoo. Tonight, while trying out the shampoo, I think we perfected the mohawk! Both are so light and esy to use for kids. The body wash is probably the smoothest I've ever used. Last night, we used The Stick on his chapped lips and there was no complaining about it being too thick or tasting funny.

While the products are made for children ages 2-10, I used the shampoo today on my own hair! Its a little strange smelling my hair and not smelling the flowers that are in my regular shampoo, but my hair has never felt cleaner.

Finally, the moisturizer... ahh... heaven. My 8-month old is learning to crawl and he's knees are so raw that the pediatrician commented that they needed moisturizer. She recommended her's, but it was greasy and heavy. And after a few hours the chappy, red knees were back. The next day, I used Dr. Bobby's moisturizer. I love the results! His knees are soft and the softness lasted more than a few hours. Infact almost a day later, when I reapplied, they were still more smooth than a few hours after I tried the pediatrician's pricey stuff.

No more Droopy Drawers!

If you have ever dressed a baby, you have struggled with the age old problem of droopy drawers. You know what I am talking about. One minute they are crawling along looking merry and cute in their special little suit. And the next - they are flashing you a big 'ol diaper moon. So despite your displeasure with the tucked-in look, you stock up on onesies. That hides the diaper, but does nothing for the drawers. Eventually you resign yourself to a pantless toddler, throwing fashion to the wind and scrubbing knees on an hourly basis. Well suffer no more! Here is a product worthy of three cheers.

Tinybigs by poptrunk baby keeps those pants up and does it with style, no less!

This product falls into the "Oh that's so brilliant, why didn't I think of that!?" category for me. (I'll have to come up with an acronym for that). Instead of messing with annoying suspender straps or uncomfortable belts that bind, Tiny bigs relies on a single clipped on strap, much like what you would attach a pacifier with. Except there is a magic magnet in this tiny strap. You clip the strap to the pants and extend it upwards, on the inside of their shirt. Then you simply attach it to the shirt with a little magnetic applique on the outside. If my description is not painting a great visual picture - see the directions here.

Here's what I love about this whole plan.
1. It's easy, seconds to apply on a wriggly toddler.
2. It has a low impact, fashion wise. You don't have to commit to dressing your child like Mork, from Mork and Mindy.
3. They don't even know it's there. In my own experience, a baby wearing a belt is a little like a dog in an elizbethan collar. Sad, uncomfortable, and determined to get it off! So the less they know about what's keeping their pants on, the better.
4. The designs, while small enough to be discreet, are very cute. You can surely find something to coordinate with your baby's outfits. Choose from trucks, tattoos, butterflies, cherries and more.

Extra flair in the clothes at Pumpkin Noodle

Using ribbons to accessorize their tees, Pumpkin Noodle sells a unique and adorable line of clothes. They offer both boys and girls items, but I'm partial to the girls items as I love the ribbon additions to each top.

What's also special about Pumpkin Noodle is their cool packaging -- each item comes in a cute purple box that's wrapped with a Pumpkin Noodle ribbon.

Does this diaper make me look fat?

I love onesies and tees with cute phrases, like some of the ones for sale on Twin Sisters' Ink. "Does this diaper make me look fat?," "Night Night, see you in two hours," are some of the fun sayings found on these tees.

Gucci Poochie Goo

It was a fiesta of all things cute and fluffy last weekend when the stars showed up at the annual Silver Spoon Hollywood Dog and Baby Buffet to pamper their kids and pets. The 2-day long event raised over $5000 for the Amanda foundation, a pet rescue organization, and offered the newest and most fashionable in baby clothing, toys and furniture along with couture dog fashions, cuisine and grooming.

Attendees included: Tori Spelling ("So noTORIous"), Amber Valletta (Hitch), Taryn Manning (Hustle & Flow), Shannon Elizabeth (“Cuts”), Larenz Tate (Crash), Kelly Hu (X-men II), Lisa Edelstein ("House, M.D."), Tia Carrere ("Dancing With the Stars"), Shanna Moakler (“Meet the Barkers”), Kevin Weisman (“Alias”), Amy Acker (“Alias”, “Angel”), Bill Bellamy (“Fastlane”), Marissa Jaret Winokur (“Stacked”, Tony winner for Hairspray), Bridgette Wilson Sampras (The Wedding Planner), Pete Sampras (Grand Slam Tennis Champion), Danny Pino (“Cold Case”), Jennifer Finnigan (“Close to Home”), Jonathan Silverman (“The Single Guy”), Bobbi Sue Luther (Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo), Melissa Rivers (TV Guide Channel), Victoria Fuller (“The Amazing Race”), Jonathan Baker (The Amazing Race”), socialite Casey Johnson, James Carpinello ("So noTORIous"), Dean McDermott (“Mind Over Murder”), Dick Van Patten (“7th Heaven”), Hilary Shepard (The 40 Year Old Virgin), Michelle Clunie (“Queer as Folk”), Mindy Burbano (“Gilligan's Island: A Pop Culture Phenomenon”), Skye McCole Bartusiak ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"), Tony Hale ("Arrested Development"), Kelli McCarty (“Passions”), David Weintraub (“Sons of Hollywood”), Kylie Bax (supermodel) and Allison Melnick (“The Club”).

Celebs were loving Fooey tees - several of their kids changed right into their cool tees at the event. Toddler Treads’ Gucio Shoes, already worn by the likes of Apple Martin, were spotted on little feet all over the lawn . With all those doggies running around, Snugglebug Baby did mom's a big service - their gorgeous bejeweled pacifier clips kept the binkies from ever hitting the turf. Boosker Babies provided the stars with supersoft chenille blankets and burpees and several celebs, including Tia Carerre and Shanna Moakler were thrilled to recieve plush personalized blankets from Tots and Tails Designs. Grand Avenue Baby also gifted the stars with a selection of goodies including posh fluffy tutus. Little Lubbaloo gave out their popular onesies and tees including "Old Soul", as well as their funky "Francie Pants undershorts", which sure came in handy under the tutus! As one celeb kid uttered "Mum - these are abslolutely brilliant! They keep all the boys from seeing your knickers!".

Celebs also scored witty t-shirts from Little Showoffs, and mod nursery furniture from Scandinavian Child. Sweet Beginnings provided decorator options for outfitting the very swankiest nurseries.

Meanwhile, lucky moms-to-be were able to choose super stylish and comfy maternity fashions from Mommy Go Round. All the new moms snagged Baby Dish "BabyBeReady" diaper bags, colorful survival kits fully equipped with all of a baby’s first year essentials. And moms of all ages were entranced with Nelle & Lizzy's intertwined silver rings as well as Tina Steinberg personalized fingerprint jewelry. Emergency Cafe reminded parents that being prepared can save the day, by handing out fully stocked backpack disaster survival kits

Older tots loaded up on toys including Ty stuffed animals; Yummiland dolls; Mattel Fisher-Price® Little Mommy™ Dolls; Hot Wheels® Radar Guns and Pixel Chix™ Road Trippin’ Cars. They took home DVDs and plush toys from Disney and Buena Vista entertainment, including limited edition "Lady and the Tramp". Bread and Budder's decorative buckets were sure handy to store all those baby toys and essentials in.

And for once, pets did not have to feel displaced by human offspring. From groomers, to pet psychics, the fur-babies got their props. Lucky pooches sported doggy couture items imported from Italy, from Hedy Manon. Oscar Newman gifted custom appliquéd and hand-embroidered beaded dog clothing. Rebel pups indulged in Pet Science Labs’ Petattoos, temporary tattoos. They reveled in their Bark & Britches’ doggie bowls, Christina Said pet products and Haute Diggity Dog beds and chew toys from Chewie Vuitton purses to Jimmy Chew pumps. My own personal pooch went totally bonkers for Dogswell's Happy Hips treats - and the cat has still has his tail in a twist about Fluffy not sharing.

The luckiest dogs, like “So NoTORIious” co-star Mimi La Rue, no longer need to go outside to do their business after scoring a coveted PetaPotty with synthetic grass at the Buffet. Now that's a gift that would certainly be a boon to pooped out new parents who are too tired to walk the dog!

Serve in Style!

Just in time for Mother's Day, I found the perfect gift for my mother-in-law who is a "shoeaholic" and my step-mom who is a huge baker! What gift could accommodate both a shoeaholic and a baker, you ask? The answer is the High Heel Cake Server! The 9-inch utensil comes in an elegant black gift box and has a removable magnetic heel for easy cleaning. This sleek stainless steel cake server slices pies, tarts and cakes cleanly and in high style, while offering itself up as a surefire conversation piece. It makes a great gift for the mom who has everything!

If I only had a Brain...

It's spring, and all the kids on the block are out on the street and the sidewalk, riding their bikes and their scooters, jumping over ramps on their skateboards and roller blades... It's like the x-games, only smaller, more suburban, and hopefully with less head injuries.

I wish I could say the neighbors are all wearing helmets. But sadly, they are not. Some of the worst offenders are the kids in my daughters'age group - the 6-11yos. I'm the crazy lady, always yelling at them to walk home and get their helmets, while my daughters cringe and twitch, mortified, in the driveway.

But I think all that is about to change, thanks to Noginsox.

The concept of Noginsox is really simple. Helmets are boring, and unfun, and yes, let's just face it, "uncool". So the team behind Noginsox decided to deal with all three of these problems head on (sorry!) and produce a decorative product that would eliminate these issues. Like a giant flashing Brain. Or a Tyrannosaurus Rex with glowing eyes. How about a spiked mohawk? What's not cool about that?

Made of molded foam, the helmet toppers attach easily and do not at all effect helmet fit or safety. They work for all kinds of sports helmets and will fit on adult helmets too if you want to get in on the fun. (I'm only restraining myself, because I want the kids to keep thinking its cool - and of course they are somehow not appreciating how cool I am, particularly after the driveway incident). One feature that I especially love about Noginsox is that the flashing lights do much to improve the rider's safety, by making them more visible to drivers at twilight and after dark .

Parents of younger tots, take note, if the dino and the brain look a little scary to your preschoolers, check out the cute friendly ladybug design.

I should end this with a serious note. My brother is a neurosurgeon. I have unfortunately heard enough horror stories from him that it is a wonder that I let my children walk next door with naked unprotected skulls. Please don't let your kids ride a bike or skate without a helmet. Don't make me come out there and yell at you!

As for my block, I don't think I'll have to worry as much about the neighbors anymore. After sending the girls around the block a few times in their flashing and funky pimped helmets, I expect there to be an increased demand for helmets in this hood.

Beautiful Blankets by Rosy Posy

I love boys. I have two, and they are fabulous in a million different ways. But, I have to say, it is so much fun having a little girl. And after living with creatures who do mysterious things (like eat their grilled cheese sandwiches into the shapes of guns and shoot each other with them, or use the lacing strings to tie their beloved bear to the leg of a table ... so much for offering non-violent toy options) it's fun to have a little one, who frankly, makes a bit more sense to me a lot of the time.

And the clothes ... yes, the clothes. Frilly! Pink! Girly-girl attire! It is so much fun to buy! And now, there's one more reason to celebrate having a girl. Rosy Posy blankets. These are no ordinary blankets ... these are posh, high-style blankets for those itsy bitsy fashionistas (and of course, the mommies who love to shop for them). The blankets were created by a mom who, after dressing her little beauty up to the nines, realized that most times (in those early days), her lovely outfit was covered by a not-so-fabulous blanket. Unable to find a one worthy of adoration, she made her own line ... and worthy they are! Check out the silky Asian style brocades (I love these, and have one wrapped and ready for my new niece, due in May) and the fun retro flowers ... very cute!

Blankets are pre-washed and ready to be loved. Matching hats and monogramming also available. Mommies With Style readers will get 20% off their purchase through June 30. Just use the code Rosy Posy in the buyer's note section of the Paypal transaction cart, and you will be refunded the appropriate amount.

Diaper bag Friday: Beca Bags at 15% off

For those of you Moms who love tote-style bags, this one's for you. The Beca Bag is a tote-style diaper bag that comes in some chic metallic colors. It's a simple but functional design and I think the design of these bags is very sharp.

I've seen a bag from the "It collection". It comes in several metallic prints to match your style. Each bag comes with a matching changing pad as well.

This is a very non-traditional looking diaper bag in that it doesn't look like a diaper bag. You could totally use this bag for work, or a weekend trip - gotta love that!

Okay and want to hear the kicker to all of these - the bag is antibacterial. I'm serious! There are antibacterial agents added to the fabric of the bag that help it to resist germs.

There are four outside pockets, 6 larger inside pockets, plenty of room for diaper and baby packing.

The classic "It" collection diaper bag retails for $195. Use coupon code MWS for 15% your order.

13 weeks pregnant: I'm going to be a big bro tee

Searching for an "I'm going to be a big brother" t-shirt was such a treat for me. I'm embarrassed to admit how much I thought about it even while we were trying to get pregnant with #2. The idea of putting one of those cute tees on and surprising grandparents and friends was just such a fun idea for me. So when we finally became pregnant, I went on a mad search to find one I liked.

I ended up on CafePress.com, where you can search for about a bazillion different styled big brother/big sister t-shirts. My favorite, and the one we ended up with for my son, was this one from CafePress.com's "Attached at the Hip" boutique. If that one isn't your style, visit CafePress.com and just do a search on "big brother," "big sister" or whatever phrase you'd like and you'll have an array of options to choose from.

Purchase by May 5th and receive free shipping on any Cafe Press purchase with coupon code MOMSHIP.

Aprons ... Now with Va-Va- Voom!

There was a time when a man's home was his castle. When he came home after a hard day's work to a home-cooked meal, greeted at the door by his doting wife ... smile on her face, cute apron around her waist, and hubby's fresh drink in her well-manicured hand. Ahhh ... Don't you envy those women for the simplicity of those days, now long past? Um, yeah, me neither. Well, except for maybe that apron.

Once the centerpiece of the mommy wardrobe, aprons have lost their thunder in the era of takeout meals and Lean Cuisine. But they are coming back with a flirty, sexy bang, and Kitch *n Glam is leading the charge with apron styles that are way more Desperate Housewives than they are Leave it to Beaver. Trust me, girls, these are not your grandmother's aprons!

I just cannot get over how stylish these aprons are ... I swear they are cuter and more flattering than the last four spring dresses I've tried on! It's decided. You need one. I need (another) one. And every woman we know needs one. Even if she doesn't cook, she can still look fabulous in the kitchen.

These aprons have been spotted on glam mommies like Reese and Sarah Jessica ... you can get yours on the company's website. And since Kitsch *n Glam knows that like cooking, accessorizing is a true art form, they also have a line of coordinating oven mitts and dishtowels.

Mommies With Style readers can use the code MOMMIESTYLE for 15% off their order through Aug. 31. You'll look tres chic coming out of the kitchen at your next dinner soiree (even if the meal came straight out of the microwave!).

"His feet are stylin'! Can I get some?"

exclaimed my husband. And he was 100% sincere.

My son was wearing his new Pediped(TM) Footwear. He has the Harvey's in brown and they look just like Daddy's sandals. But, as my husband shared with me, the Pediped(TM) Footwear may be even better.

They are just SO soft. Pediped(TM) FootwearBaby Soft-soled shoes are made of a soft-pliable leather with a pigskin lining. The soles are two layers of leather, sandwiching a foam cushion to give the baby more comfort. They're handstitched which allows for ventilation and increases the durability.

For ease and comfort, all Pediped(TM) Footwearclose with velcro. That means no elastic bands squeezing those pudgy ankles, plus they're adjustable! Its a secure enough velcro to stay on baby's feet, but its also soft and quiet, so they don't wake the baby when you take them off after a hard day running outside.

That's right, Pediped(TM) Footwearare appropriate for indoor and outdoor use. The bottoms are a black leather -- they'll keep on looking clean even after your little one learns to run in the grass this summer.

There are fabulous styles available. Pediped(TM) Footwearhas over 30 styles -- from loafers to Mary Janes to atheletic-style. I have so many in my shopping cart, I'm having to resist ordering them all!

The quality of these shoes is just unbelieveable. Place your order by August 1 and use the code mws to receive free shipping.

When ordering, keep in mind that Pediped(TM) Footwear seem to run big. My 8 month old is still wearing 0-6 month shoes. They offer wide width shoes as well. Be sure to check out the size chartsbefore ordering your first pair.

From Geek to Chic: What to do with all those old tees....

I've seen countless articles advocating that you save all your kids old tees to make a special blankie. But what about all those, ahem, not so special tees. The ones from school fundraisers, 5 seasons of little league and the truly hideous "souvenier" your inlaws sent back from the islands.... And if that was not enough - there are all the freebie work tees. My husband brings one home every week. They are all geek themed (he works in the tech industry), unfashionably oversized and until recently, destined to polish silver or at best, be worn only while painting.

But get ready to get out your scissors and give those tees a second chance. Megan Nicolay has written a book that allows even the most non-crafty, non-sewers among us to make functional, hip and fabulous garments and accessories from these cast-offs. The book is called Generation Tee - 108 Ways to Transform a Tee Shirt. The directions are simple and straight-foward. And while I can't say I flipped over every idea (t-shirt earrings? I think not), some of the designs are downright inspired.

There is something for everyone, from the conservative girly-girl to risque punk mamas. Several of the styles work equally well for kids clothes. There are even maternity styles and instructions for crafting everything from an ipod holder to yes... a special blankie. The book actually has some useful ideas for recycling tees you've loved long and hard. Into something other than a throw. The best part is, whatever you make, no-one else is ever going to have one quite like it.

Generation T 108 Ways to Transform a Tee Shirt, is available from Amazon.com. You can also check out a couple of projects at the author's website.

Over the River and Through the Woods

Going to grandmother's house? Taking a trip? Or maybe just to daycare? If your bundle of joy is not quite little enough for the porta-crib these days, here's a great option, Pretty Mats by Pretty Please Orginals.

Pretty Mats are a sleeping pad, coordinating toddler pillow and fleece blanket, all rolled into one clever little bundle. It even has a handle attached for easy carrying. The mats come in in a wide range of designs ranging from modern to vintage looking. There are even cool prints for those of us with a boy-child or two. Pretty Mats (which are machine washable) are one-inch thick to provide ample padding ... and the pillow and blanket complete the package for a cozy, comfortable place to sleep. My three little monkeys thought it was the coolest thing ever, and it has been carted all over our house since we got it. (And as a bonus, they are bugging to go sleep over someplace so that they can use it ... SCORE!).

Pretty Please Originals also makes Pretty Packs, which are an all-in-one changing pad/diaper bag made from gorgeous brocade fabrics. With a messenger style strap and compact size, it's great for quick trips, or for inside your larger diaper bag. It's by far the most beautiful changing pad/diaper bag combo I've seen. But the thing I love the most? A removable, zippered pouch. So it's easy to grab small essentials you might need without the hassle of having to open the whole mat and fold it back up again . What a great idea!

Take advantage of this exclusive Mommies With Style discount. Get 15% off any order through August 31 with the code mws2006.

Everything you need in the BabyBeReady

BabyDish makes the BabyBeReady, a diaper bag that's appropriately called the "Diaper Bag survival kit." This is a VERY handy kit as everything is already packed inside. I know from personal experience - when I had my son, it seemed that I was *always* forgetting something when I went out, those first few months - be it a burp cloth, enough diapers or a change of clothes. I quickly learned to pack efficiently - but what would have helped is something like this.

The BabyBeReady is a tote-styled bag that comes packed to go! It includes: a wipes case, diapers, changing pad, pacifier, a sun hat, onesie, a rattle, a bottle and a bib. It zips up neatly and is encased in a vinyl covered bag that comes in various fun patterns.

I love that this makes a quick on-the-go trip really easy. It's also an easy grab-bag for Dad's or grandparents who may be watching your child (doesn't it always seem to take forever to pack a bag for someone else?)

Several celebs have been gifted with the BabyBeReady, including: Angelina Jolie, Mariska Hargitay, Gwyneth Paltrow and Courteney Cox.

The bag costs $125, use coupon code twenty for 20% off your order.

Easy scrapbooking from Little Love Book

The idea of scrapbooking always appealed to me. And when my son was born, I bought some items from Creative Memories with grandiose ideas of how wonderful his scrapbook would be. But the reality ended up being that I just didn't have the time, nor am I as creative as my 2nd grade art teacher would have led me to believe.

Does this story sound familiar to you?

Little Love Book makes a mini personal photo journal where all the work is done for you. Mini-albums provide already designed pages where you can slip your photos right in. They currently offer a girl and boy version. There's space for short journaling notes. This would make a great gift for a grandparent!
