Calling all Hip Chicks.....

Now you and your little princess can coordinate in style thanks to the Hip Chicks line of clothing available at Hip Chicks Boutique! Hip Chicks mother and daughter outfits are available in infant through size 8 for daughters and in small through x-large and maternity sizes for hip mommies. The small fits sizes 2-4, a medium 6-8, a large 10-12 and an x-large 12-14. Get this - custom sizes are available at no extra charge - how extraordinary is this? You just pick the style and fabric you would like the ensemble in. Each outfit is one of a kind and made with the highest quality materials.

I had a tough time deciding what style to choose let alone in which fabric since there are endless options! The Hip Chicks Skirt Top seems like it would be the most flattering and comfortable skirt. It has a smocked waist which means you can gain or loose 10 lbs. and it still fits! Also, it’s great for pregnancy. Guess what - it also doubles to be worn as a top! How neat is that? There are removable and adjustable straps included that allow it to be worn with a bra and also as a halter top.

I ended up getting a custom made Sonya Skirt for myself in the Hippy Chick fabric and had a coordinating Hip Chicks Mini-Prairie Skirt and Tank made for my daughter. The Mini-Prairie Skirt has three tiers, an adjustable elastic waist band (how cool is that?) and trim along the hem (rick rack for the younger girls and pom-poms for the older girls). The coordinating tank is a classic baby tank and has an appliqué in matching fabric with accenting trim. Also included was a matching headscarf that you can tie around your daughter's head and knot it behind her neck. It is so adorable! My daughter loves how she looks and can't stop staring in the mirror!

The Sonya Skirt has a cute large flower appliqué that wraps around the side of the skirt and has a matching tie on the side. The skirt is available in any size and length. I love how the skirt looks and feels on me. We look so cute together in our matching outfits! We were out taking pictures the other day in the outfits and the neighborhood moms all commented on how hard it is to find cute coordinating outfits like the ones we had on. I have been looking for quite some time, so I know how difficult it is to find matching outfits let alone ones that are so stylish and comfortable!

Hip Chicks Boutique carries the Hip Chicks line as well as other popular designer brands for boys and girls. The owner Denise was such a pleasure to work with and what could be better these days than fabulous customer service?

You can save 15% off your purchase and get FREE shipping by writing Mommies With Style in your ordering instructions and the discount will be refunded to you.

Less plastic and more eco-friendly toys at Worldwide Child (25% off)

There are some familiar and not so familiar toys for sale on Worldwide Child, but all of them are noise and plastic free. My son recently received and adores his Melissa & Doug Sushi Set from Worldwide Child (although all it's done for me is make me crave spicy tuna roll on a daily basis). He's actually really funny with it - he uses his chopsticks to dip his sushi pieces in the soy sauce and everything.

Worldwide Child sells tons of wooden toys, Melissa & Doug and others. They have a great collection of wooden blocks for sale. They sell other natural toys as well made of materials like silk, wool and more.

And here's a great coupon code for them. Use code MWS for 25% off your entire order.

Colorful and stylish: Work doesn't have to be boring!

I've been embarrassing myself for quite a while now by carrying my laptop either by throwing it into regular diaper bag, or carrying it (horrors!) without a bag! I certainly couldn't allow myself to be caught with my husband's boring black laptop bag!

So I was thrilled when I found Kara B bags. They're stylish, reasonable and durable enough to carry my prized laptop. There are several styles to chose from and 3 fabric types -- I have the laminated cotton canvas messenger in green swirl. The fabric is thick and hard--just what I want to protect my laptop. The bag closes with velcro and inside is a padded divider (to protect your laptop and separate it from paper work.) There's also a cell pocket and key-clip (definitely important features when you're running to an appointment) as well as a zippered pocket for your essentials. An outside back pocket for more papers, folders and magazines as well as a small pocket on the side keeps your papers organinzed. Additionally, the bottom has feet to protect the bag and help it stand straight and an adjustable shoulder strap.

The messenger is just one of the bags available. Other products include a backpack, tote and Euro Briefcase as well as accessories.

And for the working mom? You can add the diaper kit: a zippered wet bag with a padded changing pad and 2 elastic bottle holders that will attach to the inside of the bag.

KaraB is offereing 15% off for MWS readers. Enter code MWS15 in the comments section and the discount will be refunded. Offer good through June 30.

If you can't beat 'em get a Petunia Pickle Bottom Bag

I never sat at the popular girls lunch table in high school. Perhaps this is why I was so resistant to Petunia Pickle Bottom diapers bags. They were the bags that all the popular moms were carrying when I had my son. And I was a rebel. I went so far out of my way pretending not to want one, not to need one, that I bought and tossed about six other bags last year, "saving" about the cost of two or three PPB's (yes, the bag is referred to by initials, like a celeb or an institution) .

You'd think a style rebel like myself would be a tough sell for these bags. But after actually taking this diaper bag out for a spin I am falling prey to its charm. I appreciate, for instance, the way the changing pad is attached. When you zip out the front of the bag, you have an instant changing station without icky gaps where your baby's pristine flesh might come in contact with public changing surfaces. Hmmm. That's reassuring. And there are the little things, like a sturdy clip for my keys. I could have used that a few weeks ago at mommy and me. One of the other kids "hid" my unclipped keys and they are still missing.

I also like the light interior of my bag (I have the boxy backpack in velveteen, a little less common than the Asian brocade bags). I can see what is in there. I am still compulsively looking for my keys in the black hole that was the other bag. The metal hardware is nice too, nothing plastic or flimsy. It makes me feel like I am hanging out with old money. People who ride horses and such. I'm comfortable carrying the bag as both a messenger or a backpack, and it is a snap to sling it on both of my strollers. And I have to say, I have been stopped several times by people who have commented on the bag. It's like I joined a club. And I feel... popular!

I won't let it get to my head though. I now know that the PPBs are more than just a pretty bag. They are hardworking, deep and complex. They have many unexplored pockets and the ability to take on even the most undignified tasks (changing my son's diaper) with panache and aplomb. Just like... me! Ok, perhaps I could take a cue from those popular moms and get the frizz ironed out of my hair. But one thing at a time. I'm on my way to mainstream fashion recovery, and Petunia is my flotation device.

Enter the code STYLE at POUT before June 30th and you will receive free ground shipping when you order a PPB bag. And be sure to check out the PPB website for a fab virtual fashion show of their new designs.

A free email account that helps support a cause

I know this isn't a product review, but thought this was a good little bit to post about. I recently received info on BreastCancerMail.com -- a new site and free email service that just launched. A small ad (text-based) is placed at the top of each email (similar Yahoo or others that have text-based ads) that you send.

The advertising money made from these go towards helping to fight Breast Cancer. 100% of the proceeds made on the site are donated to breastcancer.org.

Exquisite One-Of-A-Kind Birth Announcements

Before my second son was born I began searching for that very special birth announcement. With my first child, I had so much difficulty finding something perfect that I actually made my own. I had no time for that this time though with 2 kids! So after a thorough, in-depth search I fell in love with Belly Bean Designs. Belly Bean Designs custom designs each and every photo birth announcement! I thought how incredible is that to have my child’s announcement designed just for him. And I loved the picture layouts and accent colors they used. It was such a simple, easy process to go through. I requested samples and received them in just a few days.

All of the samples blew me away and I knew working with Belly Bean Designs was definitely the right choice for me! Jessica, the owner and designer, works with you one-on-one to create your customized announcement. She was so amazing to work with! She made several proofs for us to choose from which turned out to be incredibly difficult as both my husband and I found all of her ideas to be extraordinarily beautiful.

She also made as many changes as we wanted until we had our perfect announcement! Our final choice was printed on exquisite Endura Metallic 5x5 paper. When the announcements arrived I was so excited I tore open the box and I have to say they absolutely took my breath away. So many people have told me they are the most beautiful announcements they have ever seen.

Belly Bean Designs also offers thank you cards, bookmarks matching your announcements, graduation announcements, christening invitations, party invitations and more! Order with Belly Bean Designs and use the exclusive coupon code for Mommies With Style Readers BBDMWS for 10% off your order!

Diaper Bag Friday: Haiku Bags

Having heard a lot of buzz surrounding the Haiku Bags, I was curious to see one in person.

So I took one look at this bag and my initial thought was that it appeared great for toddler-carrying needs. But then I was surprised by the measurements (14"w x 11"h x 5.5" d), as that isn't toddler-bag size. Basically it's a bag that wears it's size well and does not seem that big, but it's certainly big enough for newborn carrying needs as well.

Organization is great: there's 8 inside pockets (think bottle, sippy, diapers, wipes and more) and a magnetic snap closure really keeps it shut nicely. The inside lining matches the flap pattern (asian or flower)

Use coupon code mommieswithstyle for 15% off your order before June 18, 2006 on any bag not on sale on the site.

Celebrity swag: Julia Roberts owns a Haiku, as does Heidi Klum.

Cuddle up with a Dolly of a Deal!

Clothing and and accessories for these dolls are also on sale for amazingly low prices. I picked up a stroller for less than $3 after the discounts. This sale ends May 30th.

Caffeine-Free and Lovely For Your Lips

Sadly, I read not too long ago that (the large size of) my beloved blended-ice coffee drink from a popular coffee house chain has more calories and saturated fat than a Big Mac! A freaking BIG MAC for crying out loud! I think it may be time for a new treat!!

So I was thrilled to try the Perk Lip Lattes by Crazy Rumors. A yummy coffee fix that is calorie and caffeine free, these lip balms smell and taste like your favorite cup of coffee with lots of flavors (like Amaretto, French Vanilla and Hazelnut). For girls that are more Earl Gray than Mocha Java, check out the Tea Balms (with treats like Ginger Peach and Spiced Chai).

I live in the Midwest, the land of six-month long winters and chapped lips ... so I am a total lip-balm girl. I have one in every jacket pocket, in my gym bag, my car, and several in my purse. These lip balms not only taste great, they are super conditioning. They have definitely won a spot in my regular rotation.

All lip balms are vegan friendly and made with all natural ingredients like Jojoba, Olive and Avocado Oils. The balms are available in both tubes and tins and are a steal at $4 each. Mommies with Style readers can shop with the code mommies and get one free with the purchase of two or more. Enter your desired flavor and packaging in the message section at checkout.

16 weeks pregnant: Zoya nail polish

So several weeks ago ago, I was newly pregnant and finger-deep in those soap and water bowls that they soak your hands in while you're having a manicure. As I was looking around, a sign on the wall in the boutique caught my eye.

It was an advertisement for Zoya nail polish and it was outlining the benefits of using Zoya when pregnant: It's free of all those nasty chemicals in regular polish that supposedly aren't safe to breath in - especially when you aren't pregnant. (The product listing notes these chemicals are: formaldehyde, toluene or dibutyl phthalate.)

I figured what the heck, and selected a color from their selection of Zoya polishes. The first thing I was excited about is that it didn't have the nasty smell of normal nail polish, which was great as I was starting to get morning sickness that was set off by smell. Second, it applied and lasted like normal nail polish - which was my only concern with it. ("Will this peel in two days?" No, it didn't peel any sooner than any other polish on my nails does.)

So I thought I'd pass it along to you all - pregnant or not - as, who wants to smell and use nasty chemicals when there is a more natural option. You can select from an array of colors on Amazon.com, and it ranges from $5-9 a bottle.

Save 20% at Disney

My tiny son is Potty Trained. (YAY!!!) Finding underpants that he likes and fit well has been difficult. But we love the underpants available at Disney Shopping.

Each pair has a different character (girls are available, too) on this set of seven, making getting dressed each morning very exciting. The fit is great--the size twos are just a little big on his 18-24 month body. And they're so much softer than the briefs you find at the big stores.

Already on sale from $19.95 to $12.99, save an extra 20% off all merchandise with code TAKE20 through May 25.

Bohemian Baby - for even the "not so bohemian" types!

I am not the type of mom to buy organic food. As far as baby food is concerned, I'm pretty much a Gerber mom all the way. So I find it interesting that I volunteered to review Bohemian Baby organic baby food. And I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Bohemian Baby is the first fresh organic homemade baby food producer that will deliver to your home. They make everything from "Bo Baby" basics and gourmet meals to yogurt and fruit snacks. You just pick your menu and it's shipped overnight to your house.

My ten-month old son, Cooper, sampled seven different fruits and vegetables: Pure Golden Pears; Pure Fiji Apples; Apple and Oats Blend; Pure Mango; Pear, Blueberry and Raisin Blend; Sweet Potatoes and Kale; and Yellow Squash, Carrot and Broccoli. They come packaged in simple yet very attractive glass jars and the serving size is quite large (5 oz compared to a 4 oz Gerger "Stage 2" jar). Since I never eat vegetables, I let Cooper be the sole judge of the veggies. He really liked them a lot!

But I have to rave about the fruits. Poor Cooper didn't get to eat any of the pears - I ATE THEM ALL. Seriously, they were so good I couldn't stop eating them. My husband thought I was nuts but I still happily gobbled up the entire jar of pears and half of the apples.

I didn't get to sample any of the food for toddlers but the menu looks really cool - basil pesto pasta, cuban black beans and butternut squash and risotto are just three examples. Check out the full line of food.

As for pricing, it's not cheap. If you live in the Los Angeles Area, it is more reasonable because the food does not have to be shipped overnight (or can be picked up). Outside of LA, it must be overnighted for obvious reasons. If you're going on vacation and don't want to pack food with you it could also be a good option. But since cost is all subjective, take a look and decide for yourself what you think.

And don't forget to mention Mommies With Style to get 10% off your first order!

So thanks to Bohemian Baby for changing my thoughts on organic food - who knows, maybe I'll start browsing through the organic aisle at the store now. Brown eggs anyone?

Bugaboo + Carry You = True Stroller Love

I was once a stroller whore. At one point, I counted 12 strollers that had been in my life. And that wasn't even counting the umbrella quickies tossed in airport lobbies the world over.

I knew I was ready for a commitment when I got my Bugaboo, and indeed it was true love. But if there was one thing, one little thing, that caused my eye to wander, it was all those cheap tarty strollers with their sexy little consoles. How could I not feel a pang when I had nowhere convenient to place my keys, sunglasses and frappucino? And had I made the right choice for my son? The other kids had snack trays, and all he had was a lousy foam rubber safety bar to gnaw on.

Enter the Carry You Siena Stroller Console. Made for strollers like the Bugaboos and the Zoopers, and many other with bumper bars, it is an answer to my prayers. A marvel of velcro and nylon, this nifty little snack and drink holder attaches very securely to the bumper in five seconds flat and holds a sippy cup (steadied by adjustable velcro straps), a couple of pieces of fruit and a bag of cheerios no problemo. It also keeps my son from gnawing on the foam, which was actually doing some damage. Better he should gnaw on the fruit!

If I am feeling selfish, the Carry You Siena can be mounted on the parent bar and hold all my stuff. But I don't want to share. I'm going to order my own console. I'm considering the Milan. Both the Siena and Milan Carry You Stroller Consoles can be found at Let's Go Strolling. MWS readers enter the code MWSCYS in the comments when you checkout and receive free shipping on the Sienna. Hurry - this offer expires June 16. But my love for my Bugaboo, I'm glad to report, is still going strong.

Annoucing our summer guide - coupons and more!

CD'S 4 Kids!

We received “My Very Own Music CD” when our daughter was born and were amazed at how excited she was when she heard her name when we played the CD! Now almost 3 years later, she still asks to have it played so she can hear her name in each song on the CD. The songs are adorable and upbeat! The first song is about waking up and the last song ends with a goodnight song. In between are songs that teach about the alphabet, sharing, animals, driving in a car and many more! Each song captures a child's attention and imagination. Everyone in the family can enjoy and even dance to the music. You can choose from over 3,500 names. Labels can be personalized for free to say "With All Our Love, Mommy and Daddy", or anything else you would like to say, with up to 55 letters.

The website has more than just “My Very Own Music CD,” they also feature other personalized song CD's and even storybook personalized CD's that feature Spiderman, Dinosaurs and more. The musical CD's are compiled of between 5 and 10 entertaining songs. With personalized music, children build name recognition and self-esteem through the upbeat songs. Some of the CD's are also available in Spanish and French. I think the quality sounds better on the actual CD than on their website where you can listen to samples of the songs.

Mia Bossi: the diaper bag that doesn't look like a diaper bag

Here's one that doesn't scream "diaper bag." Mia Bossi makes swanky diaper bags that are so stylish you forget their baby function. Yet nothing is compromised in the design: it comes with a changing pad and a zip in and out inside lining, pockets for diapers, wipes and more. There's a keychain and cell phone holder for easy access.

The straps are adjustable, making it easy to clip this bag onto a stroller.

This bag is great - I will say this, it's a lot bigger in person than I had expected. The dimensions are as follows: 11" (h) x 7" (w) x 15" (l) . Compare that to the Fleurville Mothership or a Posh Baby and this bag ranks up there in size. In other words, this is a good bag for heavy packers. Great for a Mom with a newborn or Mom with a toddler and newborn who has serious packing needs.

Check it out - the "Maria" is the diaper bag from Mia Bossi and it comes in Mocha and Tangerine. It retails for $330. They currently do not take orders online, so call the number on the website and mention Mommies with Style through the end of May to receive 10% off your order.

Several celebs are Mia Bossi diaper bag owners, the list includes: Natasha Henstridge, Shanna Moakler, Joely Fisher, Christine Taylor, Britney Spears and more.

I Gotta Wear Shades

I cannot resist a baby wearing sunglasses. They look so cute, like an itsy-bitsy movie star waiting for their close up. And not only are they a fashion statement, sunglasses are important for keeping your little ones safe in the summer sun, as they block their sensitive eyes from harmful UV rays.

But no matter how cute, or how useful they are, anyone who has tried to put sunglasses on a little face (for more than four seconds) knows it's often a no-win situation. The hard plastic edges are hardly safe or comfortable. Not to mention that very few self-respecting babies or toddlers will choose to leave a pair on their face when there are so many other fun things to do with them (say sticking them in their mouth, or whipping them to the ground and then screeching for them to see how many times mommy will actually pick them up!).

But now there's a better alternative. Made of soft material, with a stay-put strap and fun prints like leapord skin, Parker G sunglasses are stylish and functional too. Check out the hats (gotta keep that head protected as well!) with the glasses attached, the Bambino and Shady Baby styles are adorable!

Shop Parker G's with the special MWS code mommiestyle and receive 30% off your order through August 31.

Useful products from Atea Kids at 15% off

These pads from Atea Kids can help to make time-outs consistent (one same spot no matter where you are) and help answer the question of "how much longer" as it comes with a little timer that counts the time down.

The mat zips up for trips and sells for $19.99.

Also check out their other product - the Drop Stop. This is a great little invention, for those of us with toddlers all know how much our kids love to throw their snacks/sippy cups/whatever they are holding over the edge of their seats/stroller. The Drop Stop prevents it from hitting the ground and stops you from having to play the drop and pick it up game. It's $6.95. I gotta say, I LOVE this product for the plane - where everything gets thrown and then lost in the under the seats abyss.

Use coupon style15 for 15% off your order.

Ready, Set, Click!

When my two-year-old was ready to start clicking on Elmo and friends, I found that his hands were too small to control the mouse. Additionally, with the scroll button, back button and left and right click buttons doing different things, learning to click was a complex process for a toddler.

Enter the Kidzmouse, a mini-mouse created for children ages 2-10. Smaller in size than a "normal" computer mouse, the Kidzmouse fits comfortably in my toddlerz palm. While it has 2 buttons (a left- and right-click), I was able to program the mouse so that all buttons act as left clicks. Rather than a tap, the buttons wrap around the mouse and work with a squeeze, the same way a child's hand works.

We use the optical mouse, one that uses laser technology and does not require a mouse ball. It connects with a USB to your computer, allowing your "adult" mouse to work at the same time. Ours came with a CD-rom that contains an educational game. Perfect for learning the use of the mouse (and for some educational-entertainment a little different than turning on the TV.)

Kidzmouse is available at Ergoguys, where the Pooh mouse with software is only $14.95!

Please note: If you order the optical mouse, you will need a mouse pad or wooden surface, as optical mice generally do not work on plastic or glossy surfaces (especially white surfaces).

Emergency Preparedness - It's in the Bag

Living in California, I'm constantly hearing about the need to prepare for "the big one". So I periodically pick up distilled water at the grocery store. Flashlights. Some power bars. However, a week later, the water is in my daughter's fish "Sparky's" fishtank, the power bars are in the bellies of half the kids on the block, the flashlights have been stripped of their batteries in order to re-juice the TiVo remote, and I am back at square one.

That is why I love Emergency Cafe. They offer one stop shopping for all your disaster preparedness needs. What a huge relief for busy moms like me, who hardly have time to buy toilet paper, let alone all the items we'd need in an actual emergency.

Cari Butler, the woman behind Emergency Cafe, is a disaster preparedness expert, and a busy mom. She understands how hard it is for most of us to assemble and organize critical emergency supplies for our families. So she came up with a solution. Cari, who also teaches seminars and consults with several celebrity clients, sells pre-packed kits to busy families nationwide. She has thought of every detail, from water purification tablets, to first aid, food and search and rescue supplies.

I was surprised when I realized that the cost of the kit's ingredients, is actually less than you would spend driving all over town, trying to assemble it all yourself. I also love that it is all self contained in a high quality backpack or duffel, which is less likely to fall prey to those little snack and battery raiders. So sorry Sparky!

MWS readers, email Cari at info@emergencycafe.com when you place your order for a deluxe 4 person kit and you will receive a free earthquake guidebook that will help you and your family prepare a plan for an emergency . Even better than this offer, you will have the peace of mind of knowing you are prepared. That is a feeling any mom can appreciate.

Vegetable Cashmere for Earth Mommies and Babies

Yeah, that's right. Vegetable cashmere. That's what soybean fiber is being touted as by people in the know. And the clothes made from it are not only super soft, they wash well and they're durable and earth-friendly too!

Baby Soy USA makes a trademark line of baby items which features cute and comfy basics like bodysuits, tees and pants, as well as blankets, bibs and hats. In yummy color combinations, it's easy to mix and match your baby's wardrobe with all these basic pieces.

In addition to their private label clothing line, Baby Soy also makes lots of fun gifts and accessories for moms and babes. I'm coveting the Grand Cape (because every kid wants to be a superhero!) and the sweet tutus.

There's also a selection of standard favorites like Baby Bjorn Carriers , Diapees and Wipes, Little Twig bath products and Posh Baby diaper bags. Shop with the code mwstyle and receive 10% off your order through June 15.

Diaper Bag Friday: Love Packin' my Packabe

Sometimes, we need a little pick-me-up, and as a bag lover, I've been known to look to my bags. Standing out amongst the solid browns, pinks and blues is my JuJuBe Packabe diaper bag in Perky Perennials. This bag is screaming "spunky for summer!"

JuJuBe has a great concept--they created several bags and didn't seem to miss a beat. All JuJuBe bags have a Teflon coating on the exterior, not only are they waterproof, but they are stain and spill resistant. And the interior lining is waterproof as well, and a bright or light color, thus no black hole.

The changing pads are probably the nicest I've used. The fabric matches the bag, and sandwiched inside is a memory foam, so that the kids are (semi)comfortable during their changes.

Did I mention that JuJuBe thought about everything? All of their bags have Thinsulate which keeps hot, hot and cold, cold. And the pockets... lets just say there are more pockets than even I know what to do with, including an entire mommy section with zippered and mesh pockets, picture slots and a LONG key clip. And they heard our wishes--no velcro! Just very strong magnets that work in multiple ways.

I've been carrying the Packabe for several weeks, and I keep coming back to it. Partly because of the fun colors, but more for the function. The bag is SO stuffable. I love that I was packing two stuffed diapees and wipees in the main section, plus pajamas for both kids one night last week. Late that night, after changing the kids into their pajamas, I was able to stuff both boys' clothing, including sneakers, into the main section. That's a lot of stuff! The mommy pocket is fantastic. I'm no longer losing my keys because there's a super long key strap, and the keys can also attach to the magnets--double the help! I keep my pretty necklace in the zippered section, and there's a cell holder and several other small pockets.

The back of the bag fits the amazing changing pad, but has additional room for books or magazines.

All this, and the Packabe is convertible! For the longest time I was carrying it as a messenger, different because it is taller than wide. It took a bit of work to figure out, but when I determined how to convert it to a backpack, I surprised myself by becoming a backpack gal afterall! (There are instructions on JuJuBe's website).

JuJuBe's products include 6 bags, including Daddy Bags, as well as a variety of accessories like brag books, paci pods and snack capsules.

Did it pass my pop quiz? Yes! Making me a happy teacher!
_x_ Key Clip
_x_ Stuffable enough for 2 ages 2 and under
_x_ mulitple carrying possibilities
_x_ light interior
_x_ wipable (I've been known to spill a coffee or two in the past)
_x_ easily hangs on stroller bar
_x_ mulitple pockets

The perfect baby shower centerpiece

The whole "diaper cake" concept has been around forever, but I hadn't seen one until recently from Adorable Diaper Cake Designs.

They are appropriately named as these are more adorable than I had imagined. What a fantastic conversation piece and centerpiece one of these diaper cakes would make for a baby shower. They come in pink, yellow and blue, each layer is made up of a swaddling blanket rolled around newborn diapers.

They also make potty training cakes! They are filled with pull-ups and topped with a crown or tiara (depending on the sex) and story about potty training. They currently offer The Princess and the Potty but The Prince and the Potty will also be coming soon.

Aqua Swimwear makes a splash with fab Mommy and Me swimsuits

I have to admit that ever since my mom made those floor length blue gingham matching gowns for me and herself, circa 1978, I have not been a huge fan of mother-daughter sets. So when I first heard about matching mother/daughter swimsuits by Aqua Swimwear, I was skeptical. But I've been won over!

Aqua Swimwear really rose (or should I say floated?) to the occasion and created a collection that any mom and daughter would be proud to sport. Designer Natalie Walker was inspired by her own daughter, and left behind a long history with large companies like Speedo, Nautica and Jones NY, to create her own line.

Suits are cut age appropriately, rather than identically. It is the prints that match up. A good thing since my 6 yr old and I can hardly pull off the same bikini. The suits are fully lined, the fabric is extremely high quality (made to last) and the colorful, gorgeous, graphic prints will make you long for an excuse to take an extended trip to somewhere sunny. Both kids and moms can also choose from coordinated coverup skirts, tees and accessories.

Even though swimsuit shopping usually has me totally anxiety riddled, for once I am ok with it. As long as there is no blue gingham involved

Mamalicious? Check out Paper Mama

If you love those saccharine greeting cards with sweet sentiments and flowers on them, you probably won't like the cards by Paper Mama. But I for one, think they are fabulous!

My favorite one says "Did you ever think your breasts would give you so much trouble?" Just right for your new-mommy girlfriends. Or for that friend that helped you through pregnancy heartburn, colic and potty training? The perfect thank you card ... "What would I do without your help/advice/encouragement? You're my Mama Guru!"

The rest of the family is not left out though, because Paper Mama makes cards for Dads,
Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and (love this!) Big Brothers and Sisters. There's also a section of cards just for Mama's Helpers, with cards made just for your OB ("You rock, Doc. Thanks for making our family bigger and better!"), baby-sitter or teacher. What a great idea!

Mommies with Style readers can shop all the fun cards and gifts at Paper Mama with the code mommieswithstyle and get free domestic shipping on all orders $20 or more through August 31. Check it out!

Control your Toddler!

Well, you may not always be able to control your two year old, but now, at least you can control their hair. Jenerations makes products for good girls and boys. Count me in!

It's ironic that I never needed "product" for my daughters. But my son Fox has fine, curly, blond hair that looks so darling in ringlets and so not darling when he gets up in the a.m. He gets some serious frizzed out bedhead.

And so began my quest for a good, non-sticky, lightweight, clean-rinsing, children's hair gel.

I first learned about Jenerations line of skin and hair products for kids, at the Hollywood "Boom Boom" room. If you recently watched Vh-1's "The Fabulous Life of Celebrity Kids" you might have noticed their gel being touted as a hot product by celebrity stylist Jayneoni. Well now the secret is out.

I have put this product to use on my non-celebrity son with amazingly good results. And last week when we held our photoshoot for my clothing line, the gel was used on several of the little models. Everyone was passing it around, commenting on how great it worked, how nice it smelled (light and fresh, not overpowering) and especially how unsticky it was. It worked to spike straight hair, and to tame flyaways as well as it worked to preserve my son's ringlets. In fact, it was tested and loved by so many kids and moms, that I am going to have to re-order some pronto!

MWS readers get a taste of the Celeb Swag Scene when you order. Mention MWS and you will receive a free 1oz sample of another wonderful product from the Jenerations collection.

Amazing mothers' bracelets from Kennebug Boutique

As many of my friends are working on their second child (or more), I've found myself stumped to find unique baby gifts. It's so easy with #1 since there's usually a registry, or in the least you know they need almost everything. With #2, most Moms are already prepared.

So when one of my friends recently had #2, I decided to go on a search for a nice mothers' bracelet. I ended up on Kennebug Boutique and I'm thrilled with the product and purchase. I got my friend the "Luke/Ryan" and the quality was more than I could hope for.

Choose from an array of styles - from plain silver to braclets adored with crystals (pick babys' birth stones!) Be sure to check out their other items too. I also purchased for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day Grandma's Frame Bracelet and added additional frames for each grandchild.

Strolling for compliments

I'm a people watcher. I'll admit it. So I love when people watch me. And I'm not sure I've ever turned more heads than I have recently when pushing my new Contours Option 3 Wheel Stroller. I'm telling you, I never knew a stroller could be so stylish!

In the 3 weeks I've been using it, I've been stopped by everyone--from the bank teller to a mom at a toy store to a grandmother in a restaurant and a friend at a park. At least 2 stops a day!

The Contours is a great stroller for a baby. It comes with a carrier attachment and can fit most carseat carriers. The seat faces forward and can also convert to backwards facing (so you can see baby as you push.) It has an incredible recline and the seat is so cushioned that baby is nearly swaddled in there.

This has to be one of the smoothest rides. The wheels are rubber, but a really soft rubber so that its similar in push to the air tires of all terrain strollers. The seat even has suspension that allows for a less bumpy ride. And the turning radius is unbelieveable! My son and I have a great time turning circles without moving.

The Contours is great for shopping as well as leisurely walks. The basket is huge and is vinyl--which was wonderful today when an apple juice wasn't closed and made a big puddle--just a wipe and it was clean!

Easy to find and inexpensive, the Contours is only $129.99 at Target, as well as other independent stores.

Fun blingy clothes on Tuni & G; 20% off

Take your pick on the Tuni & G site: clothes for you, clothes for you if pregnant, or clothes for your baby. And more fun: mix and match for a Mommy and Me outfit.

Tuni & G adores shirts and outfits with crystals and fun sayings. The Mommy & Me sets are whimsical and stylish - I love "attitude" for the Mom and "attitude in training" for the baby girl. Or "boy crazy" and "crazy boy" for Mom and son.

Haute Dining ... Toddler Style

As a rule, I try not to patronize any dining establishments with my children that do not also house gigantic, indoor play centers, or that serve food that requires the use of silverware. Over six years of mommyhood has taught me that -- really --it's much better that way for all parties involved. But this handy little set just may change my mind.

Check out this Dining Set by Shoots and Ladders. It comes with a disposable bib, child's spoon and fork and a pack of wet wipes. So cute, it might even make dining with toddlers a pleasant experience.

Shoots & Ladders also makes fun changing pads, wipes cases, burp cloths and totes, all in patterns that range from playful to posh. The totes come in four sizes (the mini is adorable, and makes a great lunch bag when lined with a big ziploc bag and stocked with an ice pack), and can be mongrammed for that personal touch. Shop with the code MWS20 through June 30 and receive 20% off your purchase.

Bubble & Squeak: diaper bags made to ease your life

Now here are some great diaper bags and diaper bag accessories than I can get excited about. Bubble and Squeak makes three "diaper bag" options that are stylish and useful.

The first is the petite diaper bag. This one's great for on-the-go as it can pop over your shoulder and holds all your immediate needs. It's great when you have to run a quick errand with baby - or for Moms of toddlers who are able to seriously downsize. I love this bag. With five pockets, you can fit just about all your needs - wipes case, diapers and more. It has a little ribbon tied around the handles, as well as sterling baby bootie charms that chime as they move - cute! It sells for $48.

The small diapering bag ($40) and large diaper bag ($45) are supplementary to your diaper bag. Basically they organize and make diaper changing convenient - they provide pockets and changing pads all in one spot that you can keep together and grab easily. Both bags also close with a chocolate brown chic grosgrain ribbon.

Each bag comes in some great fabrics - select the item you'd like and click "buy now" to view the available fabrics for each item. Each bag also has a light vinyl covering - easy cleaning with a wipe down from an antibacterial cloth!

Random Acts of Style

"Random means being inspired by everything and following every whim," says Nicole Stevenson, creator of the Random Nicole brand. Based on this philosophy, Nicole designed her line of clothing and accesories for men, women and children. Her designs include hand-screened tees, pieces with hand-adorned appliques, vintage fabrics and modern prints.

I love her kids' line ... hip styles with a slightly vintage flair. My daughter has this adorable chantilly lace skirt (with a matching top) that is cute enough to wear to a party or Sunday school, but comfortable enough for a romp in the park. She's definitely going to be wearing it a lot this summer!

And, hooray! Boys are not left in the dust. Nicole makes tees for little boys (like this Open Road design, which was a hit with my four year old) that are very big-boy cool. (Note: the boys' tees run small.).

Nicole also has a great bags (including these very stylish album cover purses), cute travel pouches (stocked with trial-sized beauty
