Helping New Moms Get a Grip!

I can laugh now, but the first time I had to bathe my baby, I was so nervous that I was in tears. I actually ushered my very unclean child and an ergodynamically designed plastic tub out of the bathroom and into the car. And then I drove to a trusted friends house rather than attempt such a tricky operation solo.

So I was interested to hear about the Cuddle n' Cover Bath Apron and Bath Essentials kit from Marlo's Inspirations. It addresses all those awkward nerve-rattling new baby bathing moments. Look inside and you will find:

1. An infant towel that snaps onto you like an apron. You are protected from splashes and both hands are free to lift baby out of the tub. No more holding the towel with your teeth!

2. Soft terry gloves. These do double duty - letting you wash gently behind baby's ears with your pinkies and also making it easier and safer to lift your slippy little one out of the tub.

3. A muffin cap to keep baby's head warm. It may not be as essential but it sure looks adorable on!

This set, available trimmed in pink, blue and yellow, would make such a thoughtful gift for a new mom. MWS readers receive 10% off when you place your order and reference this article.

Free burp cloths with a Modest Mums nursing cover

Another good nursing cover alternative is this one from Modest Mums. It offers a strap that goes around your neck to help ensure it doesn't slip off during nursing. You can breastfeed in public comfortably with one of these covers as the fabric draps over you and baby with ample room for privacy!

The Modest Mums neckline bends to offer you a direct line of sight to your baby as it eats, making baby feel safe since she can see you - and helping you to bond together.

This nursing cover is available in two materials: a light, cotton fabric, or silk. It comes in a wide array of fabrics - there's something for everyone here.

They are a great price - $34 each for the cotton version and $48 for silk brocade. Enter coupon code MommiesSpecial to receive a free set of burp cloths with your order.

Pooki & Co

Introducing you to a new world of whimsical and endearing creatures.......Pooki & Co features a collection of funky plush animals as well as bags and backpacks illustrated with these creatures. All designs are inspired by the illustrations of Marie Joxe-Collins.

I received the super cute toddler backpack and my daughter had to wear it immediately and hasn't taken it off much ever since! It fits perfectly on her back and has the character Lola on it. Lola's mood is ever changing. She can be extremely well behaved at times, but extremely mischievous at others. Don't be fooled by the cute little barrettes, she is up to something. Exactly what, is up to you.

The other characters include: Pooki who has unusual eyes and a bewildered look, Pablo who some mistake for a rhinoceros, while others for a dinosaur and Totor whose thick eyebrows and sideways gaze make him look mysterious.

Wondering where you can buy these creative creatures? Check out these retail stores that carry this line as well as these online retailers.

The Diaper Bag Apprentice

It's not every day that a diaper bag intimidates me. Most diaper bags are purely functional. A select few are also luxurious and attractive. But until I met the Elizabeth Bag from Cameron Nicole, I never knew a diaper bag could be so proper. So Formidable. And yet, so functional, luxurious, and attractive at the same time. Dressed to impress in three choices of color, including golden-flecked, croco embossed leather, Elizabeth comes off as cool and aloof as a European supermodel. No surprise that she's on Heidi Klum's "in" list. Her bones are strong and fine (no floppy totes here) and her lines are sleek and lithe. She weighs surprisingly little. She's all business and she won't suffer fools. Don't mess - although if you did, it probably wouldn't even stick to her. She's got a glossy spill proof coating on the inside.

Elizabeth makes me want to go out and get the kind of job where I'd sit in boardrooms and attend formal international conferences, just so I can hang out with her and be her apprentice. Even Donald Trump would not fire Elizabeth. He could see she has all the right answers. And I can totally picture Melania, wearing some ferocious heels, with Elizabeth hanging smartly on her shoulder as she and baby Trump board the family jet.

Although I've not personally put the bag through the paces, it does look like it would function really well. Gorgeous and intelligent too. Figures. There are numerous internal pockets for bottles and wipes, a light white and orange paisley oilcloth lining, and a handy brass key clip. Due to it's classic shape and extreme high quality, this bag would definitely make the transition to laptop bag or briefcase post baby - you'll want to use this beauty for years to come if you are lucky enough to own one.

Cameron Nicole has many gorgeous bags to choose from on her website, many of which are named after famous powerful women, such as Evita, Thatcher and of course Elizabeth. And in honor of Independence Day she is having a spectacular sale. Grab your bag quick - the sale ends July 15th. Elizabeth is 40% off! Reference MWS when you order and you will also receive free shipping.

Cool Summer Shoes from Toddler Treads

I have a bit of a shoe fetish. I get all goofy around fine European leather and have been known to plonk down considerable amounts of cash for that "perfect pair". But unlike Carrie from Sex in the City, much of the footwear I covet is in miniature. It's made for the five and under set. "Their feet are growing, its a medical expense!" I rationalize. Yeah right. Oilily boots are a medical expense. Someone please explain this to my husband?

Fortunate for my marriage, and in time for warmer weather, I recently discovered Toddler Treads' summer shoes.

What I like: These fab and funky shoes are the perfect union of form, function and price ($47.99) in fine euro-toddler footwear. With their signature yellow soles and array of bright but not too bright colors - they are instant eye candy. And get this - my almost two year old comes to me and sticks out his foot obediently when I say it is time for him to put on these shoes! That is nothing short of a miracle. Have you tried to convince a 2yo to put on their shoes recently? The leather is soft and pliable and the retro-mod desert boot design looks hip and fresh with all Fox's clothes. I dig ( just looking at these makes me say silly 70s stuff like "I dig") all the delicious colors including Ginger, Chocolate and Olive. These shoes have a "healthy foot" certification btw. That's a nice technical bonus.

What Fox Likes: The attention! People stop in their tracks to comment on him and his shoes and all the cuteness. He's all over that. But even better than the passel of admirers is the lack of socks. Fox truly hates socks. And the leather lining on the Toddler Treads is sufficiently soft to go without. Breezy toe vents let in the air, keeping his tooties cool and dry, but his toes are still protected from stubs and trips. (What's with toddlers suddenly tripping over their own feet when you put them in sandals, anyway?)

While recently perusing Us Magazine, I noticed that Brad & Angelina's kids own Toddler Treads. And Fox's future girlfriend, Apple Martin was photographed out and about in her shoes this spring as well. Guess Apple and Fox will have something to talk about on their first date.

Lose the Diapers, Keep the Not Rational Bag...

Ever since my first moment of motherhood, I have cringed at the phrase "Diaper Bag". Why, as mothers, must we resign ourselves to carrying something on our person, every single day, that is hello? a big old Poop Sack? Pre kids would you have wanted to carry a Poop Sack to the mall? To your friend's house? Out to dinner? I think not. So what's up with you now? From the burbs to the city, sleep deprived and slightly befuddled mamas are walking around with plastic coated beach-totesque mega-purses. Why? Perhaps we wear the bags as a sign of our membership in the good mommy club. See how practical and unselfish we are?

Not me. I'm fighting back. I've had it with the vinyl coatings, the weird webbing straps, the toddler friendly colors and textures. Enough about stimulating their senses - I want my own five senses back! I want to smell some fine leather, to see some sexy adult styling. To hear the buzz of admirers whispering in my wake.

Fortunately for me, a few LA designers that cater to the stars are stepping up. Like the designer of Not Rational Bags. She was already making spectacular bags. Bags that select celebs are thrilled to be seen toting down Robertson, and that fashion mags and paparazzi take frequent note of. One of them, aptly named the FAB bag, just happens to be offered in a nod-to-mom version. It comes outfitted with a yummy leather changing pad, some kitschy bebe accessories (bottle and binky) and a form that will work quite well for all that kid stuff we moms have to lug around. But here is the best part. You can lose all the cute accessories and it is still a bag, ladies. A gorgeous, hot, bag that you want to carry. A bag that fashionable people without children are happily buying on its own. That deserved a closer look. But looking can lead to more, as my mom always warned me. Be warned - if you have a bag-addictive personality, you should stop reading now.

The first time I saw a Not Rational Diaper bag, and felt the leather, I had such a moment of such pure consumer bliss that I wanted to go straight to bed and take the bag with me. Everything, just everything, about it felt right. The multiple handy exterior pockets and snappy belts for clipping pacis, keys, whatever you need to clip on. The generous (but not duffel bag!) size. I felt jealously protective. Like it was my baby and I did not want anyone else to touch. "Mine!" I thought. I can honestly say that I have never had that kind of strong reaction to a Poop Sack.

I've still not completely come to my senses. I guess the bag is aptly named. I'm Not Rational about it. It's practically a revelation.

They are not cheap. But then a $120 bag whose ultimate destiny, next year, is to carry firewood and beach towels, is not exactly a bargain either. So what you need to do is clear your mind, have a zen moment and remember who this bag is for. It's for *you* baby. The you who is drooling at the remembered whiff of fine leather and dreaming about that buttery touch. Stop daydreaming about the bag you're gonna get for yourself when the kids lose the diapers and treat yourself to a proper purse (plus!) now. I'm pretty sure you won't get kicked out of the Mom's club. But you may make some of those other gals pretty envious.

Christy Turlington has the Not Rational Bag in a rich purple leather - available at Kitson. But if you are a more camo casual girl, check out the Camo bag at Scoop NYC. And there are several leather choices on zappos, which offers free shipping.

Go On the Go

Admit it, its your worst nightmare. Enjoying a wonderful and relaxing day at the park, gazing into the meadow of green grass while your 3-year-old, slides down the slide magically and easily... "MOOOOOMMMMM! I HAVE TO GO POOOOOOTTTTTTTYYYYY!!!!"

Snapped out of your dream, "oh shoot!" you think. Frantically turning your head, looking for an accessible outlet, tree, private area; you find... no where for your preschooler to go. At risk of soiling yet another cute pair of shorts from your favorite online boutique, you grab your child's hand and run. "Hold it... please Buddy... can you hold it?"

I've seen it happen far too often. And, if they're lucky enough to know me, I've saved this mother from the wet pants a few times. I have a Potette: On the Go Portable Potty. A tiny potty that folds out in an instant, where the potty-trained-one can sit, relax, and go. Clean-up is simple, too. Attach the specially made, absorbant liners to the potty and when your potty-prince is finished, just pull the bag off, knot it, and dump it in the trash can. The Potette even comes in durable bag with a sinch closure. It collapses small enough to fit in your diaper bag or stroller basket so that no one would ever know you're carrying a potty around with you.

Go ahead... relax at the park. Get the Potette On the Go Portable Potty at 10% off, and pick up a pack or two of liners at 15% off at Kid Surplus. (No Coupon Necessary.)

At 30+, I've finally learning make-up

Yes, you guys read that right. I really haven't worn much make-up for most of my life. I just never really learned how to put it on, what to look for, and to be honest, didn't have the motivation to sit there and paint my face in the morning. In and out of college, it wasn't much of a problem.

But the reality is, motherhood hasn't given me back my youth. And recently I was nervous for a 10-year college reunion (with a growing pregnant belly and active toddler, I wasn't going to bedazzle anyone with my svelte figure and hip clothes.)

So I did all I could do to look good - which included a trip to Nordstrom with some make-up savvy friends. They brought me to the Laura Mercier counter, where I had a makeover and ended up buying a bunch of products that I'm now obsessed with.

Here are some of my favorites from the purchase:

-The Tinted Moisturizer, which is really thick, easy to apply and only requires a tiny dab ("Best of Beauty" award in Allure Magazine)

-The Secret Concealer, for those nasty bags under my eyes, also goes on very thickly and also only requires the tiniest bit

-Eye Basics, so I had never tried "wet" eyeshadow before and I love this. It applies really evenly and it's so easy to blend

-The Lip Glace, yum!

All these links to go Sephora, where you get free shipping on all orders over $75.

19 weeks pregnant: Bug & Pickle Belly Cream

So I was one of the lucky ones with my last pregnancy - I didn't get any stretch marks. (I figure I deserved at least that after my weight gain.) I did make sure to use a cream throughout my entire pregnancy though. I'm not sure if that's what did it - or genetics - but either way I'm not willing to risk it this second time around.

So I recently tried and really enjoy this Bug & Pickle Belly Cream. It's a soft cream with a light, really nice lavender smell that I've been rubbing over my belly each night before going to bed.

They make several other products, including a nipple cream - designed to be used in the last trimester to help prepare you, and then after baby is born to help with breastfeeding. They also have a very nice baby lotion which is also soft for baby's skin.

Order the Belly Cream ($20) or other Bug & Pickle products at My Little Ducks and receive 15% off your order with coupon code save15. Free shipping on all orders over $75.

This is the bag I'm telling my non-mommy friends about

When Holly Aiken designed her bags, she must have had durability, comfort, ease and style at the top of her list.

Lately, when I have a big day ahead of me, I've been packing my Holly Aiken Bomber Diaperbag. Its a large tote with several big pockets that are large and open enough that its easy to reach in and see what you're looking for. Though the interior is black, I haven't found the "black hole effect" because the tote is so open.

We went to Sesame Place yesterday. Without hesitation, I packed up my Bomber. It easily held a change of clothes for me and both boys, an extra swimsuit and 2 beach towels, all in the large tote section. Of course, I made expert use of the pockets, too. The interior pockets held diapers and wipes, as well as baby food and feeding accesories. And the mandatory coloring book that all moms know they'll need (yes, there are flat pockets big enough for this!) The 2 exterior bottle pockets held sunblock on one side and my keys and cell on the other. These pockets, like all the pockets in the Holly Aiken Bomber, are deep--so that they can hold a lot more than just a bottle. I also recently used this bag for a trip to the beach. It packed up just as easily... and I was stylin'.

For days when you aren't carrying as much, the bag camoflauges into a smaller tote. It has clever hidden snaps at the top of the bag on the sides (above the bottle pockets) that will pinch it in to give it a thinner shape. It also comes with a large changing pad, made in the same wipable vinyl as the rest of the bag.

How do I dare take a nice bag on trips like this? Holly Aiken Bags are made of vinyl, so they pretty much wipe clean with a little soap and water and nasty stains will wipe off with a little alcohol. Its a thick vinyl that looks almost like leather--so it holds things well, no matter how heavy, and its soft and flexible, while keeping the bag's general shape.

The color combos are to die for. I love the bold simplicity of the bags. They scream "notice me--I'm cool and SO not obnoxious."

So, why am I telling my non-mommy friends about a diaper bag?? Because I can totally imagine working with this bag! With the long pockets, it would fit file folders and papers perfectly, while keeping them organized. You could even slip your laptop inside with plenty of room for your personal items in the smaller pockets. And the bag closes with a large velcro strap, that will hold in the important documents.

Holly Aiken has created 2 diaper bags: the Bomber and the Airlift. Additionally, there are a number of other types of bags--from totes to messengers to accessories. All just as styled and unique looking and all made of the fantastic, versatile, bold vinyl colors that are really great for everything from a night out to the beach.

Receive 10% off the purchase of Holly Aiken Airlift and Bomber Diaper Bags with code mommieswithstyle. Additionally, through June 30, receive free shipping on all orders.

Ma'am? Step Away from the Toys!

I was so proud of myself for stashing the toys I'd acquired at the various Mattel gifting suites I've attended over the past few months. I was sure my already spoiled kids did not need any new toys. I'd congratulated myself on the restraint shown by my decision to donate some items to charity and perhaps use the rest for birthday party gifts for other peoples spoiled kids...

Well here I am, not even 24 hrs into my kids summer break and I am a broken woman. I was desperate for something, anything, to keep them occupied and from bickering and from uttering those three little dreaded words that turn me into a snarling beast: "Mom! I'm bored".

So. I've dipped into the stash. But the irony is that *I* cannot stop playing with these toys!

First off we have the Hot Wheels Radar Gun from Mattel. Selling for $24.99 , it is a realistic looking device that measure the speed of your Hot Wheels cars. But it can also measure how fast your kid is riding a bike, or how fast she is running after the ice cream truck, or my own personal favorite - How fast my annoying speed demon neighbors are driving down the street! Yes, there is no longer any need to speculate whether they are going 40 or 50 mph in a 15mph zone. I have my own, er, I mean my kids have their own radar gun. So when is Mattel coming out with realistic looking tickets?

Second we have the Barbie Diaries Secret Fortune Teller, also by Mattel. It retails for $17.99. Remember good ol' Cootie Catchers? This is the electronic version of the origami contraptions we all made as kids. You hold it much the same and open and shut to pick a color and a number, and then Barbie tells you your fortune. Mine was "Bad Hair Day!" How did Barbie know?! Before you lament the death of creativity, you should know that the toy lets you record your own fortunes. My kids got pretty creative with it. In fact they spent three and a half hours recording fortunes and prepared a script for me to read/record.

My actual prediction came out a little different though. Someone, somewhere, is going to hear the following fortune this week: "If you tell your mom you are bored one more time, you will be cleaning toilets".

Adorable hairclips for the tiniest of hair

Don't tell my husband, but my baby boy was wearing the most darling hairclips today. And, while they didn't match his rough n tumble t-shirt, the clips were adorable!

I recently received samples of Giddy Giddy Hairclips. The felt designs are hand-stitched with great attention to details. And while they look delicate, they're holding up well. Giddy Giddy has created over 30 unique styles for baby girls, and is just recently launched a line for older girls as well.

Attached to little clippies, Giddy Giddy hairclips are small enough for thin baby hair, to tame the flyaways and first longer lengths of hair. Perfect for keeping bangs out of eyes. Get a few to match all of her cute clothes at Chloe in Style.

Another adorable product that's making me yearn to try for a third baby!

Lighten my Labor giveaway: guess the sex of my baby!

Here's one I hope will be fun. I have my "big" ultrasound next week - the one where they check the baby to make sure all is okay and will tell you the sex if they are able to and you'd like to know. As we certainly want to know, I'm hoping this baby will cooperate! So I thought we'd tie in this week's giveaway to my ultrasound.

What am I having? Come visit our chat boards and visit the MOMMY LOUNGE, and take a guess! Of those people who guess right, I'll draw names for two winners. (Note: if the baby doesn't cooperate, I'll pick a name from everyone who has entered)

As my ultrasound is Tuesday, June 20th, this contest will end at the close of that day and I'll pick the winner after that.

Visit our chat boards in the Mommy Lounge forum to place your vote. Two lucky winners will win a Lighten my Labor Comfort Collection pack - a cute box filled with items designed by a former Maternity Ward nurse that are made to help ease labor and delivery (and delivery recovery!)

Crocs a doodle doo - Jewelry for your Shoe

Crocs fever is sweeping through my So.Cal town like wildfire. All signs indicate that the current shoe fad is bigger than the "summer of Reef flip flops" and "Uggs Mania" combined . Children and adults alike have been affected with an obsession for these comfy clogs. Symptoms include choosing brightly colored clothing, based on which Crocs you have, and entering Nordstroms (all three local stores) into your speed-dial list, so you can check daily if they got the turquoise Caymans in your size yet.

Here in our household, we resisted almost through the entire month of May. But we were unprepared for the secondary infection. A sneaky offshoot of the Crocs bug has taken us down in one fell swoop. It is called Jibbitz and it manifests as an obsession with sticking small charming objects into the holes of said shoes.

We may in fact be the first family in Ladera to be infected with Jibbitz. But I am predicting that sightings of these addictively collectible and and adorable shoe charms will be spreading and multiplying all summer long in cities from coast to coast. Keep your eyes peeled, you might spy a poodle or a Mrs Potato head popping up on a foot near you.

Meanwhile, I am putting out Crocs fever fires here on the frontlines. My kids are bickering over who gets the pink jewels and who gets the smiley faces to go with their yellow crocs. Good thing that the charms are so easy to pop in and out of their shoes. Just doing that daily redecorating should keep them a little busy this summer. But it is not just them.... With so many charms to choose from, I want, I need, I must have them all! I am clearly sick. But really, the girls need the "Best Friends" charms. And I need more Gems. And the Pirates for my son Fox.

I think it is too late for me, folks, I cannot be saved.

The good news is that MWS readers who are suffering a similar ailment can mention this article when you shop at Jibbitz, and receive free shipping. Lets just call that a therapeutic shoe treatment.

EarCheck: a must-have for every parent

One of my mother's catch phrases growing up was, "if I had a nickel for every ear infection Whitney had, I'd be a millionaire by now," because unfortunately for me, I seemed to always be suffering from one.

So I'm always on the look-out for my son and so far so good - I don't think he's had more than his "average" share of ear infections. To be safe, I now own an EarCheck, something my mother probably would have loved to own.

The EarCheck is a nifty little device that will tell you within seconds whether or not your child has an ear infection. It can be used from 6 months through adult hood. Using some kind of sound wave technology (my husband and I tested it out on each other, it makes a small noise as you press the button) it measures the level of fluid and returns results anywhere from a Level 1 -normal - to a Level 5 - call the doctor.

For me, this is great as it eliminates those visits to the doctor when I "suspected" my son had an ear infection but did not.

It's very easy to use. I have to note, it was much easier for my husband and I to use it on each other as it was my son. We had to do some shifting around with his ear lobe to get it inserted correctly (it inserts much more easily into an adult ear, given that it's bigger.)

You can buy the EarCheck on either the EarCheck site (they have daily discounts and coupons so check for today's), it sells for $49.95 there; or on Drugstore.com for $49.49 with free shipping.

ratedG features whimsical nursery art, modern art for baby, and an apparel line designed to allow your children and your family to express themselves.

As the mom of an extremely active toddler who keeps me on my feet all day, I love the "run" tee shirt which very acurately describes what my son loves to do most (and what I deal with every day!).

And how cool is The MyMei line, designed to celebrate togetherness with a focus on adoptive families?!

Please note that proceeds from ratedG not only support a working mom, but also aide owner Diane and her family in bringing home their second daughter from China!

Sassy and roomy diaper bags from Dante Beatrix

Another great diaper bag designer is Dante Beatrix. Several diaper bag choices are available from the icon tote and Baby Beatrix Messanger for smaller parking needs, to the Baby Beatrix Tote and Baby Beatrix Luxe for bigger needs. There's ample space provided in all the bags.

My favorite is the Luxe. It's similar to the Tote, only scaled down slightly. The outside is made of a quilted pattern -- all leather. It sells for $300.

The Tote has leather handles and you can get it in nylon with quilted pockets or all nylon. Plenty of pockets for all your needs - diapers, wipes, bottles, cell phones and more.

All the Dante Beatrix diaper bags come in gender-neutral, classy colors - take your pick from black, tan, chocolate and more. Shop Dante Beatrix and enter coupon code MWS at checkout in the Notes section and 20% of your purchase (including shipping) will be refunded after purchase.

Cute Baby Shoes: Exactly

We're all after a cute look for our kids, head to toe. Cute Baby Shoes covers the toes for us. Their soft-soled shoes haven't saturated the market, so you won't see your babies feet matching all the other kids at your music class this week. But they just might match a celeb's feet, as they were gifted to Tomkat's Suri this spring.

What makes Cute Baby Shoes different? The leather used on this shoe is softer than "buttah" -- possibly as soft as your baby's skin. With Black-suede soles, the shoe continues to look clean, even after a walk and tumble in the park. My favorite feature is that this shoe is lined with a cotton lining, which will save all of your baby's perfectly white socks from any dye-transfer and it means kids can comfortably wear them without socks--its like they're built right in!

Moms, you can even match the shoes to your brocade bags as Cute Baby Shoes are also available in brocade styles.

I Did It Myself......

The kids light switch extender makes it easy for a child to turn on a light in their bedroom, bathroom or any room! Since we stared using them, my daughter has gone to the bathroom numerous times all by herself since she can now turn the lights on and off. She is thrilled to be able to do this all by herself! The switch glows in the dark, so it’s easy to find when the room is dark. It helps kids build self-esteem by reinforcing their independence. The adjustable switch extenders are easy to attach to any wall plate. Just use the two screws included and you’re all set!

Use coupon code BABYSAVE to save 15% off your purchase of $75 or more.

Entertainment on the go: Aunt Art at 10% off

Here are some cool chalk mats: Aunt Art makes a Picasso chalk mat that's low in cost ($15.00) and provides endless entertainment for your kids.

I've seen several chalk mats and what I like about this one is the size - it's quite large, making the place mat size ample enough for the space needed when eating out, as the front side of it is a place mat. And while you wait for food, flip it over and the back side is a chalk mat that the kids can draw on until their food arrives.

It comes in some cool patterns and is available on the Aunt Art site for $15.00. Spend $25 or more and receive free shipping.

Use coupon code SassyMom for 10% off your order.

Don't Make a Stink

Picture this: You are at a (childless) pal's house one day, having polite adult conversation, enjoying some coffee, and your little bundle of joy is behaving like such a little gent or lady that you feel inclined to beam with pride at your parenting prowess. Then you hear it. A loud audible passage of gas, followed by a stench that is anything but ladylike. You rush to change the offensive diaper, and your dear pal makes a compassionate face that says, at the same time "I feel so bad for you" and "how long is my place gonna stink like that!?"

Thankfully there is no need to make your pal scrabble around under the sink for empty grocery bags or double strength Hefty Cinch sacs. Just whip out your diapermates scented disposal sacs and order (and freshness) are returned to the universe faster than you dreamed possible. I've tried diaper mates on my gentlemanly son's stinkiest diapers and they really do contain those pesky odors. Celebs swear by them for dealing with their pooches byproducts too. I'm not leaving home without them! Diapermates cost $3.99 for 75 conveniently packaged bags. Use the code "mate" at Let's Go Strolling when you buy a diaper bag and receive one package of diapermate disposal bags free. This coupon is good till 7/31.

Flash those Pearly Little Whites

The other day when I was in Hollywood at a celeb swag event, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a product that was all flash, but not a lot of cash. Why haven't I seen these before?

The Dr.Fresh Float'n Firefly toothbrush for kids has a sparkly light that flashes for a minute. That way your kids always know whether they've brushed long enough. What an awesome idea! Of course the brushes are so cute with their mesmerizing little critters floating in sparkly water, and that magical light, that they may actually want to brush twice.

Anything that twinkles or sparkles is a huge hit in my house. Especially when it costs a mere $2.99. Get one today for even less from Drugstore.com - they are currently on sale for $2.49.

Timi & Leslie: Vintage, Hip, Style and Function

Probably before the time that most of us entered Mommyhood, but not too many years ago (1999), the only diaper bags that could be found were, ummm, unstylish. You know the one's I'm talking about: festooned with little cartoon characters in mixes of soft pastels over bulky bags. No one was looking out for Mommy's style! That all changed when comedienne Leslie Newton, and her former partner, Timi, took their creative bag design to the next level--the mommy level.

Oh... thank goodness they did! Blame Timi & Leslie for the eyerolls our husbands offer when we get another cool bag. Go ahead. But recognize the talent of these designers. Timi & Leslie bags deserve the original spot in the diaper bag Hall of Fame. (and, yes, there will be a Hall of Fame, even if I have to create it.)

My Gwyneth Large Diaper Bag (shown here), has been nothing short of a pleasure to carry. The gorgeous toile fabric is covered in a clear vinyl (much like Grandma's couch in the 1970s). In this case, though, the vinyl is a fantastic cover for a gorgeous fabric--a fabric to precious to endure the spills of children. The vinyl allows for easy clean-up and no stains.

My favorite feature of this roomy bag is the wristlet that is included. The wristlet, which I'm carrying with and without my kids, easily fits my cell, fat wallet (I may have a bit of "George Costanza"-itis), several lipsticks and my keys. Its a grab and go that fits in my Gwyneth as well as easily hangs from my wrist. Since acquiring this bag, the rest of my wristlets have joined the "formerly used bag shelf" in my closet. Also included is a matching changing pad with vinyl covering the toile on one side and a water-resistant nylon liner on the opposite.

The interior of the T&L (which Timi & Leslie is affectionately referred as) is a water-resistant liner--which makes my concerns about spills getting caught between the liner and the vinyl naught. There are ample pockets including an insulated bottle pocket and a key-clip (yes... its passing that test again) on the inside and a zipper pocket and 2 more bottle pockets on the outside. The messenger flap closes with a magnetic snap and the bag has metal feet on the bottom.

I also love that the bag isn't a floppy bag. It stands perfectly well. And it has an adjustable messenger strap in the same fabric as the rest of the bag--laminated toile in this case.

Timi and Leslie products include a large selection of other bags like backpacks and totes. In the past year, they've donated over $1400 to the Wildlife Conservation Society from proceeds from Will Ferrel signed Curious George Bags. And this year, they introduced the "high end" Mommy Chic bag, which I'll be reviewing in a few weeks.

Use code SAVE15 at My Little Ducks for 15% off any order and get free shipping with orders over $75. My Little Ducks will also special order any Timi & Leslie bags if you are interested in a fabric that's not listed on the site.

Platinum Luxury Mom

Last week I had the pleasure of hanging out for a brief but blissful couple of hours in Beverly Hills at the Platinum Luxury Suites. I have to say, this posh and exclusive suite in honor of the MTV movie awards really delivered the goodies! They had me at hello with Xocai (guilt free, healthy lo-cal chocolate) and Elixer Health Tonics. And the buzz just got better as I made my way through the star studded crowd. Click here to walk on through with me with images courtesy of wireimage.com

Although this was not a specifically baby/mommy centered event, there were plenty of moms there - including megabucks mommy-with-style, Kathy Hilton. Kathy sat down in the Mattel Barbie suite to have a tea party with Dancing with the Star's Stacey Kiebler. Who wouldn't want to play Barbies with Paris'Mom?! I just want to know which blond got to be Barbie. My money's on Kathy. But it was Stacy that everyone wanted to see trying out the DDR "Dance Dance Revolution" Game pads. They work with Xbox and Playstation platforms to get you off the couch and trying out some new moves. Which is a good thing and not likely a problem for Stacey!

Outside on the patio, Kristian Alfonso (Days of our Lives), , and Amber Reese (The OC), got "Solective" with sunscreen and Bronzing products from Nature's Gate. Celebs also scored high tech Dr. approved skincare products from Procyte. Back at Mattel, Lacy Chabert checked out the Barbie Teen Diaries (one can only imagine what her Mean Girls character would have to say about that) and Jose Canseco's daughter Josie loaded up on the Barbie Mermaidia DVD and toys.

Michele Rodriguez (Lost), fresh out of time-out, er...jail, showed up too. She looked luminous and demonstrated her softer more charitable side, signing a Vespa and a Hummer Laptop to be auctioned off to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation . Other signees included Shannon Elizabeth, Ludacris, Nick Cannon, Corey Feldman, Wayne Brady and Desperate Housewives' Shawn Pyfrom (Bree's Son) - who is a cutie in person, far less evil than his character.

Also in attendance was new daddy Kevin Dillon (Entourage). Lets hope he picked up some of the great goodies for his wife. Like funky denim couture from Henry III, and the Pocket Surfer from Edgetech, so she can go online anytime, anywhere and connect with other new moms on great sites like www.mommieswithstyle.com and www.celebrity-babies.com

By the end of the day I was coming down off my tonic and chocolate high but had to go back out to the patio to check out the products that were generating the most buzz and more than a few giggles. What else but Kama Sutra? They passed out everything from mint massage oil to chocolate paint. Their weekender kit is a great reminder to lovers everywhere that there is more to making love than making babies! 'Nuff said.

Just What the Doctor Ordered

Every mommy knows that when you have kids, you inevitably get LOTS of unwanted advice.

"Let him cry it out!"
"Put a hat on that baby!"
"Breastfeed until she's seven!"

Most moms learn to filter through the crap and only listen to the advice from the people who count. For me (and for most other moms I know) the top of that list included my pediatrician, and other mommy friends who've been through the parenting trenches too.

That's why MD Moms might just be the perfect skin care products for babies and kids. They are designed by two board-certified pediatricians who are also mothers ... the perfect combination of smarts and TLC.

The doctors in them designed pure and gentle, hypoallergenic products that are perfect for your little one's skin. The moms in them made sure their products came with thoughtful, mom-friendly, baby-safe packaging like flip top caps (for one-handed applications), wide-bottom bottles (so they won't tip over), and also thought of mess-free alternatives like single-application cord care swabs (for that newborn belly button stump) and sunscreen in no-spill, easy-on wipes (love these!).

Shop through the summer (through August 31) with the code MWSSUMMER and receive a special flat shipping price of only $4.

Free shipping on cool products at Confetti Kidz

This boutique is so cute. Confetti Kidz offers an array of stylish products - high-end baby bedding, boys and girls clothing, great furniture and decorative pieces for your baby or child's room.

I've seen a pair of these vintage hangers, and they are adorable - perfect for hanging a nice dress or outfit in your child's closet. Or if I had a little girl, I'd be all over these "baby's first hair clips" as they are too cute, soft and easy to clip into baby's hair (no matter how little there is!)

You name it, they have it - cribs, bedding, furniture decor, clothing and more. The items at Confetti Kidz are unique and stylish. Check them out and use coupon code "Style" for free shipping on your order.

Totally Coordinated Baby

I first met Janille Hudson, of Boosker Babies, at the LA Textile show. She was elbow deep in the fabric at Michael Miller, another perennial favorite of mine.

Forgive me, but when I hear "burps and bibs" I don't always get excited. Too many people out there, selling bizarrely coordinated, poorly sewn stuff. You've seen those random ebay listings for "boutique style" minkee & terry cloth bibs mated with a crooked clown blanket? For the love of all that is fashionable, Why?! Someone please explain! It's child fashion abuse.

To make matters worse, when you finally find attractive burps and bibs, you cannot find a blanket that is the same. No consistency. This makes me nutso. I'm obsessively matchy match when it comes to my baby and kid gear. Even more so when buying items for a gift.

So cut to a few days later when I run into Janille at a celeb event and get a first hand look at her wares. Simple and well coordinated (consistent) fabric choices, and good sturdy stitchery have earned her burps, bibs and blankets the right to be called a collection. Celeb Mommies like Tia Carrere and Shanna Moakler loved her stuff. And I was actually a little excited about burps and bibs. Possibly a first for me!

Boosker's offerings include a hearty menu of fabric choices for your burps, bibs, blankies and my personal fave - "Bum Buddies" which work as a changing pad or travel "wooby", and tie up in a neat little bundle with a coordinated grosgrain ribbon. My favorite print is the retro dot in chocolate and pastels. And mention MWS at checkout and you will get a free onesie just like the ones handed out in a recent Hollywood Swag Bag.

Leather Mally bibs at 15% off

I know what you're thinking: a nice leather bib for my baby who is going to spit up all over it? I thought the same when I had heard of leather bibs before. But then I got my hands on a Mally Bib and understood why there is a market for them.

These bibs are made of leather, making them sturdy so they hold up well. And the food isn't as much of an issue as I thought: since they are leather, they wipe off a lot more easily than a cotton bib! It closes with a magnetic bib, so you can hang it on the fridge after they are done too for convenience. They also come in some very cute designs.

Use coupon code SMILE for 15% off your Mally Bib order on Fred and Lulu.

They Grow Up So Quickly!

Time flies, doesn't it? It doesn't seem too long ago when I had a tiny newborn to take care of. Now I have an extremely active little boy who runs all over and is growing by leaps and bounds.

I recently realized that I need to start capturing all of this growth so that we can remember how little he once was (and how big he is going to become!). So my quest for a growth chart began. After looking at tons of websites and stores (and seeing lots of cheesy options), I came across a custom-created, personalized growth chart at Teacups and Tadpoles (run by one of our very own MWS members, Ashley!).

This personalized canvas growth chart is uniquely designed by Donna Ingemanson and reproduced just for your little one using the giclée printing process. {During this process high quality digital prints of the original artwork are printed directly onto canvas...giving them the look and feel of the orginal painting.} The growth chart can be personalized for no extra charge, and comes complete with grosgrain ribbon, decorative nails, instructions for hanging, and information on the artist.

I ended up getting the sports growth chart with my son's name on it, and couldn't have been happier with the product (beautiful colors!) and customer service I received from Ashley.

Watch your own little ones grow and take 10% your order at Teacups and Tadpoles by entering coupon code MWSGALS. Enjoy!

See Jane Work

As a multi-tasker, few things reign as supreme as my desk. Unfortunately, I frequently forget to tend to it. I get so caught up in the day to day that I overlook its need for a little TLC every now and again. To illustrate my point: In addition to the computer, I had a stack of CDs left over from a photoshoot, a pile of extra invites to my son’s first birthday party, sales tax forms, monkey stickers, Cinderella crayons and a stuffed pink poodle all taking up residence on a beautiful chocolate brown desk.

My beautiful desk begged to be unearthed. I heard its call and set out on a mission: to find pieces that would make both my desk and I happy. My desk demanded fashionable products and I needed function. Or was that the other way around? Anyway, off I went to See Jane Work. See Jane Work has everything a stylish and trendy desk and its owner could ever want.

Just check out this CD holder. My unattractive pile of photo CDs is now transformed. And those tax files? They deserve no less than the Spotted Groove File Folders. Gosh, these folders almost make me excited to look at tax documents.

No longer cluttered. No longer hidden. My desk is ready to be seen by the masses or at least the occasional pop in neighbor. I know if my desk could talk, she’d thank me. You’re welcome, little desk. You’re welcome.

Playing Dress up? Great Discounts at Ann Taylor Loft

I love to shop, but when it comes to dressy clothes, I'm pathetic. I have two dresses in my wardrobe. Two. I've had them both for like three years. They're both black and white. And floral. And have spaghetti straps (nothing like a bit of originality, huh?). In the winter they get covered up with a cardigan and worn with nylons. In the summer I go bare and wear them with stappy sandals. They are cute dresses, but I'm pretty sure that everyone I know is on to me, and that my poor, overworked dresses have made way too many rounds of showers, wedding and other miscellaneous events that require slightly dressy attire.

Don't get me wrong, I love wearing dresses. I just hate shopping for them. And I especially hate trying them on. It's a constant reminder that people do not design dresses for very short girls who are both petite and curvy. They never fit right. And I also hate plopping down the money (but I suppose since I wear dresses until their slow, painful demise, it's probably worth a few bucks).

I'm thinking of taking the plunge and buying a couple more dresses. Here's a great discount from one of my favorite stores, Ann Taylor Loft, who has lots of cute ones. 15% off any purchase $75 or more or 20% off $15o or more. You also get FREE SHIPPING with any purchase of $75 or more. Use the code 44600001 at checkout. This offer is on-line only and not redeemable in stores. Offer valid through July 4.

Because Dad is a Team Player...

He may not be a dad quite yet, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be gifted this father's day. And here is the perfect present: The Delivery Coach's Kit from Blossoming Babes.

I'm so loving this cleverly boxed set! Here's a peek at what's inside:
* A Team Jersey - the "Storks" of course. Note: for a kickin' keepsake, get the hospital to put your new baby's footprints on the tee.
* A Stopwatch - to time contractions
* A "Scorecard" and golf pencil to record contactions(or list last minute name ideas for the rookie)
* A Dad's Checklist - what to pack in his bag?
* Massage Oil - for Mom, but Dad does the honors!

Second Note: I also love this gift kit as a "Honey Guess what...". Can you imagine handing it to your guy to break the good news?

In honor of Father's day, MWS readers click here for a 15% discount on the Delivery Coach's Kit. While you are on the Blossoming Babes website, check out all their other nifty sets. They sell gift-boxed kits to occupy proud new sibs and a stylish hospital wardrobe kit for mom as well. Third Note/Request: I'm crossing my fingers for a Grandma kit for my MIL, in the unlikely event that I should have any more kids. She needs to be kept busy too, preferably in the waiting room! In the meantime, these are my new shower gift staples!

10-50% off at All Aboard Toys

So we were out at a local toy store today when my son spotted the Backyardigans Uniqua in a pile of Beanie Babies. Of course there was no letting go once spotted, so we purchased her, along with Pablo and Tyrone.

And seeing as I can't have part of a set, I came home to do a search for the other two characters (Austin and Tasha), only to find out that they aren't made yet. But I did find many sites carrying the Beanie Babies, including All Aboard Toys.

I got hooked on their site as they are having a fantastic sale. It says it was to have ended Saturday, June 3rd but all the prices are still heavily discounted. They have all sorts of great specialty toys and character items including Dora, Thomas, Clifford, Jay Jay, Bob the Builder and more. I have way more in my cart than I'll ever admit to my husband.

Check them out - most items are 10-50% off and there is free shipping on orders of $69 or more.

By the way, the Backyardigans Beanie Babies are bigger than your aaverage Beanie Babies toy and they are on sale for $4.77 each. (I paid more in-store!)

Tees with a little pizzazz and creativity

I first heard about Dirty Laundry Tees at a Children's Show I attended late in the winter. Another vendor told me to check out their tees as something original. I was intrigued as there are a lot of cute children's tees out there but sometimes they all seem to look the same to me after awhile.

Dirty Laundry Tees are definitely unlike others I've seen. They are imaginative and artsy: each tee has felt-type pieces that are applied either by heat press or stitching. Their designs feel very modern meets chic to me. They have all sorts of designs for both boys and girls from size newborn up to age 8. They've been featured in US Weekly, Earnshaw's, Elle, Child Magazine and more.

If you are looking for something different, be sure to check them out. You can order online on Dirty Laundry Tees - or for free shipping (they are based in Canada so this is nice!) contact Erika directly at erika@dirtylaundrytees.com .

Monkey on my Back

I have never been one of those side-slinging, monkey-on-your-back wearing moms. I don't have a problem with baby wearing. It was the fabrics the carriers were made of. Most of them reminded me of a bad cross between a gym bag and an itchy old sofa. Thanks, but no!

And then, at the LA Textile show, across a crowded showroom floor, I spied a mom carrying a cooing newborn in a Mei Tai Carrier made out of one of my fave retro Alexander Henry prints. I had to get the 411! That's how I met Robyn Collar, the designer of Baby Hawk .

Robyn, a fabric junkie after my own heart, has the most extensive selection of fabric choices that I have ever seen from a baby carrier company. There is truly something for everyone. And their spouse. Hubby wants camo and you prefer a mod floral? Not a problem. Baby Hawk can make you a reversible carrier. You say your baby is touchy about texture? Consider a minkee lining. Oh the options!

I subjected the BabyHawk to a vigorous 29lb 21 mo tester. To Trader Joes and beyond, as a front carrier and with my son Fox on my back, the BabyHawk performed remarkably. I never felt strained, even after marathon Costco shopping. That's amazing considering I have been caught whining about having to carry my son from the car into the house lately.

Another thoughtful custom feature that won me over was that this carrier can be made with a big, deep pocket. Big enough for a small wallet, keys, a diaper and some wipes. Suddenly it's not just a carrier - it's also a purse! Woo hoo! No need to schlep a bag. That means true hands free freedom. And I should mention that the construction of my carrier was impeccable. That's something that I, as a manufacturer, am super picky about.

MWS readers enter the code MOMMYSTYLE when you place your Baby Hawk order and you'll receive free shipping. Meanwhile, If you're out at Costco - I might be that mom with the little blond monkey on her back.

A sobering post: Emergency Contacts

Driving along with her children in the car, Misty Traveller was hit, head on, by a vehicle in the opposite lane. The other driver had fallen asleep at the wheel and drifted into oncoming traffic. When the emergency workers arrived, Misty was unconscious and her children were fine (they were safely strapped in.) Misty's husband was at work and her children unable to recite their address, phone number, even Daddy's name or where he worked.

But Misty thought ahead and was prepared. Very prepared. On her keyring was a small piece of plastic, similar to a membership card to her healthclub and her grocery store membership cards. But this card led the emergency workers to emergencycontacts.com. In her wallet, she had a matching membership card, as well as a window sticker on her car. All included her membership number. Her son's backpack even had an Emergency Contacts.com tag (much safer than carrying his name and address on his backpack for everyone to see.)

The emergency crew quickly contacted Emergency Contacts.com and learned that Misty had an allergy to Penicillan and were given emergency numbers to call. They contacted Misty's husband, neighbor and parents. The children were taken care of, and Misty's doctor was able to meet her at the hospital (where she recovered beautifully.)

What would become of you and your family if you were in a similar situation? I know, sobering thought. Be like Misty, think ahead. Pay just $34.95 per year to join Emergency Contacts.com. It only takes a few minutes. The forms are simple. Enter up to 6 family members on one account. Each family member gets a unique membership number and has his own list of contacts and emergency medical information--even your pets can be included.

This product has your name written all over it

Literally. Teacups and Tadpoles makes these cute notecards with your name on it. What you can't see is that the design isn't printed but made up of materials (it's a thread and some fabric) and it's really nice looking in person. The Connie Mac and the ChiChi are the two styles available.

They are $28 for 8 notecards - all hand-designed. No two cards are the same but pick a style and each card will come with the same color combination and similar look.

Use coupon code MWSGALS for 10% off your order of anything on Teacups and Tadpoles. Be sure to check out all their other fantastic items - they have a whole collection of great items for sale, elegant Mom bracelets, cute aprons, splat mats and more.

Picaboo! I'll remember you!

Alright readers, this weekend, you're going to have some homework. Your assignment: a family scrapbook.

Windows 2000 and XP owners, get ready. You'll be using Picaboo, an online digital scrapbooking software and printer that will hook you in. Just minutes after I downloaded the free software, I knew I was hooked. Easy to use, you can actually create a themed book within seconds. Seriously. Just select the pictures for your book and a theme and Picaboo will drop the images in. For those of you who feel more creative or want to incorporate a story, there are numbers of free backgrounds, fonts and layouts--so you can select and drag-and-drop your images where you want them, as well as "journal" your book.

Love scrapbooking? Welcome to the world of digital scrapbooking. Using your photo-editing software, you'll be amazed at the pages you can create. And Picaboo has forums where you can show-off your books and pages, get inspiration, and ask questions from the pros. By the end of my first night, I had already created a page using photoshop that impressed the strongest of my graphic friends. Then, just drag-and-drop that page right into your book!

You can share your books with others (for free!) I made a class yearbook for my son's preschool class, shared it with the moms, and they were all able to order copies.

Books are bound and available in two sizes. The large book is an 11x9 hard-back book with a photo window that peaks into the first page. The medium books are 5x7 and available with a soft cover with the same window.

The cost is SO reasonable. To make a twenty page scrapbook at home, whether printing on your computer or making one by hand would cost, well, a lot. (I'd never dare take my husband down the embellishments aisle at a craft store--his math skills are way too fast!) At Picaboo, the scrapping and software is free--no membership fees. When its time to order, the large book is $29.99 with 20 pages and the medium is only $9.99. That's less expensive than prints! And for a limited time, when you order a large book, you get a medium for free!

So... here's your homework. Download the free software today and play around this weekend. Then, join us on our boards and post links to your books. We want to see!!! Just be careful. This is a dangerous assignment.

Its completely addicting.

Conversation starters: Little Lubbaloo tees

Our very own Mommies with Style writer and member Ciaran owns and sells these tees from Little Lubbaloo. And she didn't ask for this review but I just had to do it as I just adore her tees. My son has several from Little Lubbaloo and I get stopped *all* the time and asked about them when he does.

The latest was when he was wearing his "safety expert" tee (pictured is an electrical outlet next to a fork) when someone at the gym stopped me to tell me all about her son and how he tries to put forks into plugs and OH-MY-GOD how she had to have the tee shirt. We also own "Beam me up Mommy," and "Dump Him, I'm Cuter" (pictured is a dump truck.)

These are all original designs and the tees are great quality - we're talking thick cotton that holds up in the wash (pet peeve: those thin Old Navy tees that you wash once and they show wear and shrink to the size of a mouse) These are soft and durable.

Use coupon code MWSFREE for free shipping on some of Little Lubbaloo's other clothing lines. To shop the t-shirts and entire line, visit Tutti-Bella.
