Pearl Swimwear - for Glamourous Moms

Let me recount for you a conversation I had with my 9 year old daughter, last week at the pool:

DD: "Hey Mommy," (pointing boldly at a multi-tatooed mommy in a teeny bikini) "Is that bathing suit sexy or hoochie?"

ME: "Uh...Well..." I'm actually ok with the tats, but I cannot help but notice that the woman's left nipple is a millimeter from daylight. And as she bends to retrieve her toddler, I get way too much of a gander at her bum cleavage. Ew. "I do think it's a little hoochie honey. And don't point at people."

DD: "Ok but Mommy - what about her, is she Sexy?" My daughter jerks her head comically towards a haggard looking mom of twins, wearing a full skirted Lands End ensemble that is billowing all around her in the wading pool.

ME: "Well, she looks fine honey. Comfortable. Go find your friends"

DD: "But Moooom....what about..."

I'll spare you the rest of the conversation but it was more of the same. Why is this relevant? Because I think that when it comes to swimwear (or any wear for that matter) we all struggle with the same problem. Yes we want to look sexy. But we want to look nice sexy. Not sleazy (aka "hoochie" in my house) sexy. It's hard to explain that difference to a 9yo. And harder still to figure it out for yourself in a flourescent lit cubicle at a department store. No wonder swimwear makes us all so nervous. It seems like every suit you try on is either designed for a matronly grandma or Carmen Electra. What a choice!

Enter Pearl Swimwear. Designer Heather Fish is a real mom in the trenches. She knows firsthand how hard it is to look cute, without looking, well... hoochie! And as the active surfer mom of three sons, she was a little uncomfortable with the notion of being "checked out" by her son's friends. But finding a fashionable and flattering one piece suit was so difficult, she decided to design her own.

Drawing on a retro beach babe aesthetic, with a twist of mod 70's chic, Pearl Swimwear suits manage to be that most difficult blend: Sexy and Modest at the same time. I think the word is Glamorous. And there is a lesson here, at least for my curious 9 yo daughter, that there is such a thing as a woman being "good sexy". Just check out the Pearl Swimwear Website, and you will see what I mean.

Hollywood Celebrity Moms and fashionistas are becoming big fans of Pearl Swimwear. Keep your eye on this designer - she is going places! MWS readers who would like to order a suit, send an email and you will receive a free gift with purchase - a signature silver starfish charm to wear with your swimwear.

And don't miss the cute cover-ups. They are fantastic! Even on my sz 16 post baby bod. It's been a while since swimwear made me feel this good or this sexy!

Grocery baby needs: Available EVERYWHERE

Not too long ago, I was talking to a woman in the baby aisle at our local store. We were discussing the fact that Organic Foods are not only healthier, but actually tastes better (its true, I've taste tested!) Her child is very allergic and she had to be so careful of what she was feeding him, that she explained that she can only feed him organics. As we talked, I learned that smaller towns, like the one where her inlaws live, don't have the large grocery stores that carry lots of organics. So, to prepare for her visit with her 8 month old, she was stocking up on organics, and carrying an extra suitcase down with her. I shook my head in disbelief. There had to be a better way!

Thankfully, there is. Organics are a big thing right now--and Lil Ewe'smakes organic baby food available everywhere. The store carries everything from diaper bags to diapers. Their slogan, "all your baby needs, delivered right to your door" speaks for itself.

Hopefully the woman in aisle 8b held on to my business card and is now reading this post. So that the next time she travels, or the next time any of us are in a town like her in laws', they'll order online, and not have to haul an extra bag of baby goods through security onto the plane.

Check out Lil Ewe's for all your home delivery baby needs - they carry not only food, but diapers and wipes, skin care for babies and more. Use coupon code Thanks06 for 15% off a minimum $25 purchase, expiring 8/30/06.

Happy Birthday to me: No more vacuuming

So although I had heard of the Roomba before, I was a skeptic. The idea of some little device scooting around my house and actually doing the floors seemed like a bit much to me.

My mother became a recent Roomba owner, and before I knew it, she gifted me with one for my birthday. When we first turned it on, I thought, no way: too noisy, too clunky, it's going to scare my cats and annoy my son. My Mom made me promise to give it some time, and I did.

I'm happy to report I couldn't have been more wrong. For starters, the cats could care less. My son Nate loves it; and we've learned to ignore the sound completely. "Rosie," as we call her (those of you old enough to have watched the Jetsons will understand), zooms around and picks up all sorts of stuff on a daily basis - which we NEED in our house. With two cats (one long-haired) and my ability to shed more hair than I thought I had on my head, the Roomba is great. It takes care of stray crackers, hairs, dust balls and more.

So you're wondering how it works: it basically goes in a pattern, even though you may not notice it. If it hits and object, it just turns around, again and again until it gets going in a new direction. We've turned it on and left for a few hours to come back to an entire floor having been vacuumed. It comes with a base that it charges on. You have to change it every now and then (obviously) and it beeps to tell you when it needs this. It also comes with "boundaries," in other words, if you have a room or place you don't want it to go, you set these two book-end boundaries and it won't go there.

All in all, it's well worth it and even though it's a little pricey, it's such a nice thing to have as a Mom. I haven't picked up the vacumm in weeks. Check it out on Amazon; it's currently on sale and it ships free. And as a bonus, use coupon code CLEAROUT for $25 off your purchase. (It's good for $25 off all Kitchen and Housewares product over $125)

And an added bonus, my son loves it so much that he loves watching it work. I've used this to my advantage. It inspires him to clean where he otherwise wouldn't be doing anything. I can say, "Nate, Rosie won't be able to clean with your Legos on the ground, quick, pick them up!" and I'll tell you guys, I've never seen his little feet move faster to pick up toys! You have to love that!

Wanna be in an article?

Hey guys - a trade magazine is looking for Mommies to help with an article. If interested, check this out below:

Needed: a mom of one or more school-aged children (ages 6 to 12) to track her back-to-school apparel spending for a national trade magazine that covers children's wear.

Between now and September 5th, we'd like to know: your budget vs what you actually end up spending, the clothes you're buying, where you're shopping and how much you're spending per item/store.

There will be a follow-up interview during the week of the 5th to discuss what your shopping adventures were like, why you shopped where you did, the trends your kids are into, the best deals you found and what they ultimately wore on the first day of school are also welcome. Print quality pictures of your children are welcome as well.

Ultra Chic--Ultra Mommy

Now that the baby is getting older, its been a little easier to actually go out for meals. Sure, we have to go to child friendly places, but we're hitting a couple restaurants that are child-friendly and dressy. I figure, if I'm getting dressed, so is my diaper bag.

And that's when I've been turning to my Timi & Leslie Mommy Chic bag. Its a diaper bag, cleverly disguised as a large, very trendy tote. Made of rich, durable leather, this bag is adorned with gold-colored ornamentation, including a gold-heart charm that hangs from the front pocket. The interior of this bag is a very fun bronze, lizard texture, waterproof lining (notice the lack of the black hole effect in this bag), with the same layout as a Timi & Leslie Large Bebe bag. (You can read the review about this bag to learn more about the interior pockets.) The bag includes the much loved wristlet and another stylish changing pad--this time in a vinyl-laminated brocade print. An upgrade on the interior is the keyclip. While the Large Bebe has a plastic clip, the Mommy Chic includes a metal spring(gold-color, of course!) clip. The flap has a magnetic closure and is weighted down by the metal O-ring. On the reverse is another pocket and the sides have 2 smaller pockets with flap covers and closures--great for a cell phone or sunglasses, or even a matchbox car or two.

Get dressed! and get the Mommy Chic bag at My Little Ducks. Use code SAVE15 to save 15% with free shipping.

Mike and the Bike

We don't watch many sports, but the ones we do, we're pretty passionate about. One of them in particular is cycling. We love the pace, the energy, the way the crazy spectators are allowed to get up close and sometimes personal with the cyclists. And really folks, who can resist all that lycra?

Our kids like watching it too. I remember last year when my daughter was only two yelling, "Go Lance" while pumping her little fist in the air. While I was a little nervous about creating a mini cycling zealot, I had to giggle every time she made a bee-line for the trikes on visits to the local bike shop. Let's face it every kid, be it a boy or a girl, has a fondness for riding a bike.

Enter Mike and the Bike. This is a great little story about a kid and his love for his bike. With an intro by Lance Armstrong and accompanied by a CD reading by Tour de France commentator Phil Liggett, Mike and the Bike is a wonderful bedtime read. It has a great rhythm and is expertly illustrated.

Read it and you might be taken back to your first trip on wheels around the neighborhood--wind in your hair, streamers blowing by and that wonderful little sound the horn made every time you squeezed it. Squak, squak.

Angelina's Not So Little Black Bag

Here's a conundrum. Say you are an international celebrity. Paparazzi hounding your every move, and thousands of moms hauling their sons into hairdressers so their kiddo can have the same signature mohawk sported by your little boy. You have to stay one step ahead of the trends, but that comes easy to you. You are a bit of a free spirit, you go where you want to go and do what you want to do, always looking fantastic, with kids in tow. So now, what kind of a baby bag are you going to carry? Certainly not some flavor of the month mass market affair. Any bag that you carry is going to be special, handcrafted and unique.

Just like Angelina's Jolie's "Suzy" by Hammitt bags.

This is not a bag for the faint of heart or weak of limb. You may require a personal trainer to get yourself into shape for carrying this bag around fully loaded all the time, but then it is so gorgeous, it is worth it. Hammitt's Suzy bags are big. Big enough to hop on a private plane with your three kids, and jet off for the weekend without having to leave behind a single sippy cup or special stuffie. The leather is top notch and the signature brass studs all over say "I am fabulous but I am still humble". It's just too cool to get all blingy and ostentatious.

I can see why Angelina loves this bag. This is the kind of bag you use for decades, and that your kids borrow from you when they head off for college. It will always be cool. And its a practical baby bag too. You could truly take it anywhere, from a five star cruise to the African plains, it's there for you. It is fully lined with waterproof vinyl that color coordinates to the exterior and there is a coordinated vinyl changing mat that comes with. Inside you'll find large slip pockets for wipes, snacks etc, and a zippered compartment for keys and wallet. On the outside you are treated to two flap pockets with magical magnetic closures. They clap shut with such a satisfying clack that it's tempting to just sit and play with them. An excellent toddler airport distraction. And there are two open outside pockets to stash your boarding pass and handwoven Namibian woobies. Aside from the practicality of the bag, there is a quiet classic luxury about it. It's expensive, yes, but its also an investment in quality goods. These bags are never really going to go out of style.

Hammitt bags are made one at a time, handsewn in the USA. Every detail of their construction is a labor of love. Designer Stephenie Hammitt has named her various bags after the women in her life who inspire her. And now inspiring women of the world are carrying her bags. Denise Richards, Courtney Cox and Catherine Zeta Jones have all toted Hammitt bags.

Pimp My Stroller

I still can't believe that the first year of my son's life, we didn't have a jogger. I dreamily gazed at neighbors' joggers, and pushed my... ummm... hefty stroller while all my friends push along their joggers with ease. Yes, I stuck out like a sore thumb on our walks.

The second spring/summer we borrowed a jogger from a very pregnant friend. This thing was our best friend. Seriously. There was never a doubt what stroller to bring on a walk to the pool, on a trip to the beach, anywhere. And when we gave it back, my husband announced that there was no way we could make it through another summer without our own.

So, when our Jeep® Overland Limited Jogging Stroller arrived, there was no secret keeping. My husband and I were walking in style! Before I had hardly a chance to check it out, my husband strapped the baby in and was out the door. And on a several mile walk. About a week later, I finally got to take it out. And, you know what? Even a non-jogger feels compelled to jog with this stroller! The push is so easy and it takes bumps with little effort.

My toddler actually selects this stroller whenever we go outside. (Because, as you may recall, we have a few to select from.) He tells me the seat is comfortable and he loves listening to the music.

You read that right, music. You know the show "Pimp My Ride"? Well, this is "Pimp My Stroller." The stroller comes with a Music On the Move® Parent Tray that connects to your own CD or MP3 Player. It includes speakers, amplifier & jack (but get lots of batteries). There are also 2 cup holders for parents, as well as one for the kids. The basket is really large (perfect for holding all things needed at the pool) and there are several pockets for extra items. It comes with an odometer, but, let's be honest here, I've never used one before, I'm not about to now!

A few other perks:
-have a flat in your 16-inch air tires? No problem! Cleverly hidden in your basket is an air pump!
-avid exerciser? There's a removable weather cover that blocks both wind and rain.

Oh, and this extra special bonus for families like mine (I'm short and my husband's taller), the handlebar adjusts so no one has to be uncomfortable pushing.

Obviously, we love the stroller. Its been a fantastic addition to our summer. We've tested it at the beach, on rough nature-trail terrain as well as the street and sidewalks. And you'll love the price. Its currently on sale for $149.99 at Baby Age. ($20 off).

Cute bedtime story

I am always looking for a new, attention-grabbing book to read to my rambunctious two-year-old before bed. If I don’t rotate his books frequently enough or spruce up our collection with some new enticing tale he becomes a very, very active kid right before bedtime. As you can imagine good bedtime stories are worth gold in our house. I totally understand his point of view, I am right there with him as I also get tired of reading the same stories over and over.

One book none of us tire of is called "Dinosaur, Dinosaur". It's written by Kevin Lewis and illustrated by Dan Kirk. A friend introduced us to this clever author/illustrator team and my family has been totally addicted ever since. Kevin Lewis’ rhyme and rhythm are so catchy and the illustrations are just magical. Every time I read one of their books I discover something new in the illustrations that I didn’t see before, they are just too cute!

Even though we’ve had "Dinosaur, Dinosaur" for a few months it has fast become a classic for our family, my son still asks for this book almost every night. I know I’ll never forget our nighttime readings together or the massive smile on his face when we read this book.

"Dinosaur, Dinosaur" is available on Amazon.com and is eligible for free shipping when you spend $25 or more.

Maternity help: Holding your pants up with Belly Ups

Although they no longer work for me, having a pair of Belly Ups would have been great early on in pregnancy. They look like little suspenders and they serve to hold up your low-rise regular pants for longer than you could normally wear them into pregnancy. As you start to show, you can use the Belly Ups to hold your unbuttoned pants up.

You can also use them on loose fitting maternity clothes that you may fear will come down. They hide right under your shirt and clip to your bra, so no one can tell you're wearing them.

Use coupon code STYLE for 15% off your order through August 15th.

The Stroller SaddleBag--not just for a stroller!

Before we left for vacation, I was given a Saddlebag by Skip*Hop to try out. With only one interior pocket, I wondered how this would work for me. I'm telling you now, it didn't work for me... it worked for my whole family!

The bag is like a briefcase for toddlers. Seriously, the day before we left for our trip, we took an excursion to the library. And my 2 year-old carried his Saddlebag, packed with three 9ish inches by 13ish inches books, to the book return area. There, he opened the messenger flap, unloaded the books, and hurried over to the children's section to fill his bag with more books. It was the cutest little thing I've ever seen! And that one interior pocket? Perfectly fit his book club membership book that he needed to get stamped. Let me tell you, the oohs and aahhs for the youngest member of the library book club were hysterical. No one could get over how cute he was carrying this mini-briefcase--complete with his membership book in its own pocket!

We loaded up the car and were off. For this trip, we took our double stroller, and I made sure to bring along 2 Saddlebags. They fit perfectly on each side of the stroller, so each child can pack his own items and be able to access them. Before I left (yes, while I should have been packing), I also tried the bags out on 4 of my other strollers (ahem... my husband isn't too happy about the number of strollers I actually have). Have to tell you, there wasn't one stroller that the Saddlebag didn't fit!

Wait! It gets better. This bag, which, like I've said, fits easily onto any stroller as access for the kids, also fits onto restaurant chairs and highchairs!!! Yes, we tried it! For meals, we filled the inside of a bag with crayons, coloring book, and a reading book. And in the outside pocket (there's one on the flap) we put a few surprises for the boys, like Matchbox cars. When we arrived at the restaurant, we detatched the bags from our stroller, and used the wide velcro panel on the back of the bag to hang the bag onto the chairs. Easy access once again--which made for very pleasant evenings on our vacation!

Of course, Skip*Hop remembered the mesh bottle pocket. I love this feature! Our double stroller doesn't have a cup holder/tray, and I'm always being asked for a drink... so I have to stop, bend down, get one out of the basket... you know the drill. With the Saddlebag attached, the toddler can just reach down to the bag (on the left side this is easier) and grab his drink from the holder--positioned in perfect reach!

Of course, the bag is available in a variety of colors. I recommend buying a few. Get free shipping from Lets Go Strolling to using code SHMOMS through August 10.

An alternative to the Boppy: the Bosom Baby Nursing Pillow

Bosom Baby makes an upscale version of a Boppy. Slightly bigger, the Bosom Baby Pillow is great for propping baby when you are nursing, or when baby is first learning to sit up and needs a buffer to fall back on.

It comes in some nice solid colors, and I love the material - especially the "plush" which is a soft velour. The ones with dots are great as it gives baby something to hold and rub.

The pillow can also be used as a maternity pillow. Mine conveniently came in the mail just days after my son threw up all over my old one (which of course didn't have a cover on it) so I switched over to the Bosom Baby. As it's a lot longer and bigger than a Boppy, it works well as a maternity pillow as well.

The Bosom Baby website offers a list of retailers where you can purchase the pillow, both online and locally. The pillow runs anywhere from $40 for the regular prints to around $60 for the plush ones.

Celebrity moms like Gwen Stefani are celebrating the new budding loves in their lives with "Grow Strong" jewelry from the Tina Steinberg collection. These special pendant, bracelet and earring sets make such a sweet gift for new moms, reminding them to be like a sheltering tree, protecting their little loved ones. Little silver leaves and gemstones throughout this collection represent new growth and a mother's wish that her children should grow strong.

What's so great about Tina's pieces, is that all of them are custom crafted for the recipient. And as such, all are individual works of art. And in some cases, they are as unique as a fingerprint. No Slippy Hair Clippy

I always dreamed of having a girl and dressing her in the most adorable clothing and hair accessories. Little did I know that finding gorgeous hair clips that would actually stay in my daughter’s thin hair would be such a challenge. Clothing on the other hand as my husband would say, I have found way too much of! I also noticed on the boards recently that several Mommies were looking to find cute hair clips as well. So my search began!

Thanks to No Slippy Hair Clippy my dreams and yours have come true! I have to say that I was totally blown away with their many styles of hair clips and the numerous colors they are available in. They are so fabulous and well made! I put a few of the different clips in my daughter’s hair and waited and waited to see when they would fall out. Guess what? They never did!

No Slippy Hair Clippy has a special velvet lining and tiny magnet in each clip that will make the hair clip stay so well in your daughter’s hair. Best of all their clips are beautiful! There are so many to choose from its overwhelming! Here are a few I think are so pretty and unique: Ashley, Alyssa, Rowan, Julia, Taylor, Allie, Alexis, and Michelle. If your daughter loves animals they have the cutest, most original clips I have seen! I especially love the dog. Dream a Little Dream of....

First of all a note to my mom: Mom, if you are reading this - I think I just heard your phone ringing. And there is a really big sale at www.anyothersitebutthis.com. You need to go check it out. Now!

I've been procrastinating a little in writing a product review of Dream Lotus by Kama Sutra. It's great stuff, but can you blame me? We're talking about s-e-x potions! Its a tough line to tread between prude and freaky soft-porn reality show subject. And then there is my husband's role in all this - he was such an enthusiastic volunteer to assist in the product testing. But as much as he is enjoying my blushing discomfort, I think he is actually a bit worried about what I am going to say. So let's just get that part out of the way shall we? He's a stud folks! A Superstar! Women the world over shoulda' been weeping the day I nabbed him. He's pretty hot.

But still. I am human. And as the mom of three kids, I am a tired human. Often very tired. So tired that even Viggo Mortensen, Joaquin Phoenix and all the combined man-candy from "Lost", parading through my boudior buck nekked, would not speed my pulse. You moms know how that is.

I distinctly remember a day, about four months after I had my son, when I was showering. I was lingering under the warm steady stream, eyes half closed, enjoying an all too rare moment to myself, when I heard a little tap tap tap on the glass. I wiped away the steam to find my husband and baby son on the other side of the door. Four hungry eyes ogled me, wanted me, more of me, all of me... And all I could think was "Ugh! Go Away! Leave me Alone!!!"

I honestly wondered if I was ever going to feel sexy, or like I actually wanted to have sex, again. And just for the record, I do like sex. Really. A Lot! But somehow, at that moment, a hot shower and a good long sleep was so much more appealing. Yes I needed more rest, but I also could have used a little DreamLotus.

The DreamLotus line was created specifically to get women back in touch - sorry for the bad pun - with their sexuality. The line includes massage oils, stimulating gel (which really works well - use sparingly - that's all I am gonna say!), a warming lubricant, and sweet tasting body powder. Most DreamLotus Products are condom safe, edible, and formulated for sensitive skin. All are lightly and pleasantly fragranced, so as not to jar your senses or overpower you. And all of them work by helping you relax, remember and enjoy exactly what it is that is so great about sex, besides the fruit-of-your-loins sleeping soundly (yes!) in the next room.

Aside from the products helping you reconnect with your partner, they help you reconnect with yourself. A self that sometimes goes on hiatus after the birth of a new child or at stressful times in your life. And what a joyful reunion! So nice to know you've still "got it".

If I can get over my embarrassment about posting about my sex life in a public forum, I am sure you can get over yours about trying these products. Sex is healthy and actually quite good for you, not to mention an important part of your relationship. It's too easy to neglect that part of who you are, if you are a tired mom. So if you and your partner have been missing out, treat yourselves to these products. I'd recommend trying the combo of Romantic Bliss Massage oil and Stimulating Gel for a night that's actually better than a shower and sleep. Believe it or not!

Dream Lotus products at Walgreens Pharmacy locations or online. Certain online purchases are eligible for free shipping.

We've traded our ugly duckling highchair for a Svan

Once upon a time, when I had my first child, the high chair you "had to have" was an Italian plastic padded rolling contraption. Oh how I loved that highchair when I first got it. And then oh how I hated it. Granted - it was great for solo bottle feedings, between about 5-9m of age. But then came the food. I hated how the food got stuck in the crevices and how hard it was to clean. I hated how it took up half my kitchen and most of all, I hated how it looked. In my serene beachy wood-and-stone toned kitchen, that hunko hunk of navy and white plastic was an eyesore. It was only a matter of time before it got the boot! Finally with kiddo #3 we are enjoying an upgrade. We've got a Svan.

At first I was worried how my son was going to react to the change. He was somewhat attached to his hand-me-down plastic throne. There were those special little holes for shoving peas in - an activity that had brought him countless hours of joy. I actually felt a little sorry for him as we put our Svan together (note:this was far easier than I thought - the first glance at the directions and all the parts had me panicked!). Fox studied the Svan with much glee and fascination as we assembled it. He smiled and then did the funniest thing. Before it was even completed, he marched over to the Plastic-o highchair and shoved it out of the kitchen, down the hall, all the way to the garage door. He then, singlehandedly, pushed the Svan to the table, and demanded to be seated in it! There should have been a camera rolling. I cannot make this stuff up.

Poor kid, I guess he really wanted to sit at the table with the rest of us. And we kept parking him at a table for one. It's tough being pre-verbal.

Ever since that day, the ol' Plastic-o has moved out to the garage. It's familiar territory for that highchair, and where it has spent most of it's life. The Svan, on the other hand, has taken pride of place and will be sticking around *inside* for years to come. I love how it sleekly morphs from baby highchair to toddler chair to big person chair. There is a video showing the transformation on the product site. We're still using the tray for snacks and even though it is wood, which had me a tidbit worried, its a breeze to clean. Best of all - no icky crevices! Hurray!

Gwen Stefani, Brooke Shields, Jennie Garth and Bill Bellamy are all fans of this chair. If you are thinking of getting one, check out www.ToadsandTulips.com - they offer free shipping on the chair in a choice of four finishes, sure to complement your decor.

No Worries for you Rocker Moms - The perfect bag for your Parenting Gig

Note: If you read my review earlier you may notice that I have just changed it. I oopsied. I got the wrong Blink 182 wife. It's Skye Hoppus who has a Baby Bolsa Bag. Not Shanna Moakler. But these bags are cool enough to outfit all the Blink 182 wives! And a few other bands too. My bad. All better now!

What's a rocker mom like to do when it comes time to tote all her tot's stuff around the town? Surely Skye Hoppus, wife of bandmember Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, would not be caught out at one of her husband's gigs with a regular baby bag on her buff shoulder. Most diaper bags are anything but Rock and Roll. But stylish Skye (she has her own maternity and childrens lines) carries Baby Bolsa bags.

I recently checked out the "Eva Rocker" bag in black and I am here to say, that were I to hop on a Harley, with Junior in the side car, there is no other bag that I would consider carrying.

Okay, so I am not likely to hop on a Harley any time soon, but these bags are still very much worth considering. The American and Italian leather is lovely (I'm coveting the purple bag) and there is a ton of detail on the exterior, with studs, studs and more studs, and some pretty heavy-duty rock and roll zippers trimmed with leather tassels. If you are into hardware, this is a bag you are going to love. Inside there are many sections and pockets to stash stuff and a clip for your keys. The interior is well organized but, I have to be honest, not my #1 personal choice of color & material. It is a solid black cordura nylon-like fabric. Very functional & practical but I was secretly hoping for something a little more colorful - like a wild paisley - as befitting a rock and roll heart.

Nevertheless, this is a big bag, sure to get you through the day, even if you are toting for twins or a toddler and an infant. And a change of clothes for yourself, in case you stay out too long partying at a playdate. It would easily make the transition to "Greatest Hits World Tour" carry-on bag no problem. Just look at it. It hardly screams diaper bag. It looks more like a weekend in Vegas bag. What's in your diaper bag, stays in your diaper bag...

Mommies with Style Readers can carry a bag that says "I'm with the band" at a substantial discount. Enter Code MOMMY at checkout for 20% off your bag. And Rock on.

Britax Roundabouts - great price

Here's another tip from Danielle at CBB. Britax car seats are on sale at egiggle.com.

The Marathons appear to be sold out but they still have tan Roundabouts(normally $220, down to $154)

The Ins and Outs of Style

Quick! Think! You're at a family gathering, all the usual suspects are there. Everyone has a camera, and pictures of all are sure to ensue. Your three-year-old has somehow escaped your clutches and has buddied up to a large, discarded and wholly unattended plate of chocolate cake. He has, of course, eschewed utensils in favor of his fingers, and has now covered his impress-the-relatives shirt in a lovely brown disaster. What's a mommy to do?

Well, if you're me, you will silently curse the fact that you forgot (again) to pack an extra outfit, and when one fails to magically appear (again) at the bottom of the diaper bag, despite your reverent wishing, you will make due with a washcloth fix and hope for the best.

But if you are a much more pulled together mommy, you will smile, shake your head and make some witty comment about how wonderful it is that kids can savor life's small pleasures with so much enthusiasm. Then you will escort your little charge to restroom, wipe off the mess, smartly turn his fully reversible outfit to other other just-as-cute side and head back to the party unscathed and unstressed.

There you go, easy as pie. This supermommy moment was brought to us by innies 'n outies, the Einstein-level geniuses who decided to make a line of kids clothing that was fully prepared for the fact that kids are ... well ... slobs. Each item is fully reversible, hip as can be, and can be mixed and matched with many other coordinating separates in the line. What's NOT to love about that?

Even more to love ... put “mommieswithstyle” in the comment area at checkout and receive a 10% discount off your purchases (to be taken off the invoice (you receive it via email after the order and charge have been fulfilled). Then, innies ‘n outies will make a donation for the same amount (10% of your order total) to The Children's Shelter of Cebu (a Home for Orphaned and Abandoned Children in the Philippines), on behalf of you, Mommies With Style and innies ‘n outies. There you have it. Smart, good looking AND a social conscience. It doesn't get much better than that.

*CSC is the charitable organization chosen by MWS writer, Melissa. Check out their web site for more information. For this program, innies 'n outies donates to many different charities based on the specific organization or publication they are partnering with. Dear Johnnies: Here's to removing the hospital gown frump factor

Seriously, how ugly are those hospital gowns they make you wear. And there you sit - having just given birth, looking exhausted, wearing this big gown that would a 400-pound man with a beer gut, and you're smiling for pictures that will immortalize you for life.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather looked tired but cute in my Dear Johnnies hospital gown than a hospital-issued one. Dear Johnnies makes really simple, cute and feminine-looking hospital gowns that you can wear for delivery and recovery. And the design is great - a tie in the back to help cover you from the rear, and snap down sleeves for ease of breastfeeding (they don't make that for their male patients!!)

The gowns are $65 each (see below for a special discount). You can have them monogrammed and select from four different designs. They come in either a small/medium or large/extra large. (S/M fits up to a size 8 pre-pregnancy and the L/XL is pre-pregnancy sizes 10-16.)

Order your gown on Dear Johnnies. Click through the links we've provided for a special Mommies with Style discount and get the gown for $55 today.

$18 jogging stroller at Kmart

Hey all - received this same tip twice today - once from Danielle of Celebrity Baby Blog and once from MWS reader Shelly (thanks guys!) that several Kmarts nationally are having a crazy sale on InStep Jogging Strollers.

There's no information online so it must be an in-store thing. If you're at your local Kmart, check it out.

It's Model EZ156 (single jogger) and it's priced at $18 (some have them marked down to $13). Apparently if it isn't in the stroller section, you can find it in the bike section.

Worth a stop if you're driving by!

Luna Lou Blankets Bring Back the World of Imagination

I recently got a new blankie in the mail that is so cute and unique that I don't want to let my kids have it. I want to keep it for myself. Bad Mama!

Remember the blankies we had as kids, the ones we dragged everywhere? They were warm but not too warm, soft but not too soft. Colorful but not too colorful. They had interesting textures and patterns but were also a blank canvas for your imagination, effortlessly becoming a fort for one, a magic carpet, a nest, or a hammock for your stuffed animals. They were made out of natural materials, in the classic ways. And they were the only blanket you'd want to take with you when you had your tonsils out.

Luna Lou blankets are those blankies! But hipper.

Since becoming an adult, I can't remember ever seeing a truly fashionable knit cotton blanket for kids. These pop-art tributes are just inspired. And besides that, these blankets are eco friendly. They are knit from soft but sturdy recycled cotton. They are thick enough to withstand a whole lotta loving, but not so thick that they would make your tot feel hot and itchy. The blankets have a patterned side with whimsical characters and quotes such as "Up all night, Silly all day" and "I Dream of Cupcakes" and they reverse to a multicolored side that is like static on your television- the perfect backdrop for a little daydream.

I just love their vibe. Cool but never pretentious. Which is a wonderful thing in a magic carpet/fort/blankie. Order your blanket before 7/15/07 and you'll receive a free book tote. No need to enter a coupon.
