Adorable Must-Have Baby Toys from Bright Starts

Two of the cutest new baby toys out from Bright Starts include the Bright Starts Having A Ball Alphabet Pop Top (Amazon, $29.99) and the Bright Starts Roll & Chase Bumblebee (Amazon, $25).

Cole (5) took one look at the Alphabet Pop Top and proclaimed that baby toys were much better today than they were when he was a baby.  (All those maaaaaaaaaaany years ago!)  But I have to admit, this little toy is definitely compelling.  Even Cole sat by the box to play with it for a bit.  It plays fun music that you can turn on or off (Moms everywhere thank you for the “off” option, Bright Starts) and baby/toddler can press on the various colorful buttons to hear different songs and do different things.

As you guys can see in the picture, the animals on the bottom “pop” off at random which I am sure would delight any baby.

We didn’t play with the Chase Bumblebee but I would imagine this would also make any crawling or newly walking toddler very happy.  Press the buttons to get the toy to roll around, encouraging baby to move/crawl/walk after the Bumblebee.  Adorable, right?

Love These Snuggly Baby Carriers from Pognae

Sometimes I see a baby product and I think, man, I wish I had that when my kids were younger!  The Pognae Baby Carrier is one of them.  Soft and comfy, this baby carrier is one both you and your baby will love!  I was a huge fan of baby carrying with my youngest – it’s so key to be hands free when you have more than one you have to deal with when you’re out and about.

One of the key things to look for with a carrier is comfortable straps.  Depending on how much your baby weighs, you want something that’s going to support that baby weight.  Love these padded straps from Pognae to help support carrying the baby.

There’s also a mesh cooling vent to help keep you and baby cool (it can be a workout to carry baby around).

Disney Baby Cuddly Baby Suit Comes to Target, Plus $3 Off!

Last spring, Disney Baby announced a new line of adorable Cuddly Bodysuits for baby.  The bodysuits were only available on Amazon until today!  Starting this weekend, the Disney Baby Cuddly Bodysuit is now available with national distribution at your local Target.

In addition, they are launching new styles that will exclusively be available at Target including two styles with the Muppets, just in time for The Muppets movie which is being released on Nov. 23.  How cute are these new designs?   I’m literally laughed out loud at the gray “Party Animal” now – that’s just so perfect for a little baby boy.

My one beef with baby gear is often how short of a time it actually gets used. So I have a special place in my heart for gear that grows with your child or that is multipurpose. One of my latest finds is the mydlink-enabled Wireless N Network Camera (DCS-930L) from D-Link.

When you’re shopping for a baby monitor, you’re more likely to end up at Babies R’ Us than at Best Buy, but here’s why you might want to consider this wireless network camera for your nursery.

Multi-purpose. Yes, it can work as a baby video monitor, but it can also function as a nanny cam, a homework time checker, a cat-better-stay-off-the-couch watcher, a who-really-is-eating-cookies-at-night viewer, a grandparents-in-Florida-can-watch-Junior’s-birthday-party device and a security camera. Plus with the built-in microphone, you can see and hear everything that’s going on.

Plug and play. D-Link makes set-up simple with their plug-n-play technology which only requires 3 easy steps to set the camera up. No configuring routers, no complicated wires. Simple, easy and done in minutes.

6 weeks old: What did I do before without a video monitor?

My daughter is almost 6 weeks old, and since we brought her home from the hospital, we have been using, enjoying, and relying on the Slim&Secure Handheld color video monitor by Summer Infant. What did we do without this with our other two children?! I am fully convinced now that all parents should have a video monitor!

With my first two children, we had a basic audio monitor and thought it was fine. I thought, at the time, that a video monitor was a frivolous purchase and not necessary. But after using the Slim&Secure video monitor, I have changed my tune. There are a number of reasons why.

We have been having my daughter sleep in her crib in her room from day one. With my other two children, I kept them in the bassinet, partly for convenience, but also because I wanted to be able to see them. This time, though, because of this video monitor, I have the confidence and peace of mind to leave her in her room. I can see and hear exactly what is happening with a crystal clear picture (in color, no less!) and crisp sound. Even in the dark at night, the picture changes to night view in black and white and is super clear and very easy to see. I never have to sneak into my daughters room to check in on her, I can just look at my monitor! (And I can see a much better picture on the monitor in the dark than I can if I were to sneak in the room!) Also, unlike my audio monitor, I have yet to have any interruption or cross-signal with my cordless phone or other electronic devices.

My baby boy won’t let go of his Jack the Seal teether ($6.45).  This water-sealed teether can be refrigerated for an anesthetic effect. There are a ton of websites out there that sell baby products, but how many can say that they also help to serve a cause?? I don’t know the exact number, but if I had to guess I’d say NOT MANY! Diapers.com Releases Top 10 Car Seat & Stroller List

Having a new baby in the house can be daunting for about a zillion reasons, just two of which are picking the right stroller and car seat.

Wall Candy Arts: The Only Time It’s Okay To Let Your Kids Draw on the Walls

We’ve been a fan of Wall Candy Arts for years now.  We have several of their chalkboards from them in our basement that the kids love to draw on.  Here’s what neat about Wall Candy Arts – these are stickers.  They peel right off of paper and onto your walls.

Even better, there’s no damage or pulling to your paint or wallpaper when you want to remove these.  We’ve tested it out several times!  (Chalk also wipes right off the walls with a damp paper towel!)

A couple of months ago, Wall Candy Arts send us this Baby Elephant and we finally put it up in Cole’s room – he loves it.  Both kids have been spending a good hour decorating the elephant every night before bed.  They peel the chicks on and off the walls and it’s a nice non-electronic toy that I love having in the house.

Baby Einstein Discovery Kits: Kid Friendly TV! (with Giveaway)

I had heard of the Baby Einstein in the past, but had yet to ever seen a video. I knew that they were videos with fun sounds and colors, and I was extremely excited to try out a video for myself once my little boy was here. I was even more excited to find out that Baby Einstein has come out with what they call Discovery Kits, which are innovative new interactive experiences to help parents introduce babies to the beautiful music, nature and animals for which the company’s products are known. It all sounds pretty good to me!

Each Discovery kit ($19.99)  features a DVD, a music CD and a picture book or Discovery Cards. Each element complements the others. The new kits encourage parents to take what they and their child have seen on screen, in the book or on the discovery cards, or listened to on the CD and apply it to baby’s every day life. They were created to grow with babies and are organized in a way that offers three distinct levels of discovery: Experience, Explore, and Expression. With my baby being a newborn, we started out with the experience level: Baby Mozart.

The Baby Mozart DVD is great! My little guy is still very young, but once I put him down in front of the TV to watch the DVD his eyes lit up with all the vibrant colors. The soundtrack to the DVD complements it perfectly, and the Mozart music is a great way to stimulate your little one. I am not a big believer in plopping your child down in front of the TV, but I have heard how important it is to stimulate your child’s developing brain, and I think this DVD is a great way to do that!

You have to put the bouncer together- but that is pretty easy to do. It was really easy to take this to Thanksgiving dinner, so my baby had a place to sit. The only thing I would change is the color scheme —  I wish the seat base and the patterns were a little cuter.
