Fashion Friday: Colorful Jewelry

Recently, I had to research a style piece for jewelry trends for the spring and summer.  The overwhelming consensus with those “in the know” with fashion trends was that colored or colorful jewelry (and bold) is going to be the trend in the coming months.

Why not get a jump start on the spring with some of these colorful pieces of jewelry?  If nothing else, the color will give you a little bright fun during an otherwise snowy or rainy day.

Drop earrings are also in!  I love the look of having dangly earrings with a simple necklace (I like to go simple earrings if my necklace is going to be bold.)  How about these Purple Emerald Drop Earrings from Banana Republic – $35 (Use coupon code BRJANUARY to receive 25% off your entire order at Banana Republic through the end of day January 28th.)

Love this Tory Burch Leather Logo Buckle Bracelet – $125 at Nordstrom.com – especially in orange!

Stella & Dot Marchesa Necklace – $178

The price is right on this Iridescent Necklace for $8.80 at Forever21.com

Long woven Bead Necklace – $99.00 on Athleta.com (but I like it as a wrap bracelet!)

Gorjana Two-Tone Triple Leather Strand Bracelet – $88.00

Fashion Friday: Stylish & Functional Workout Gear

I’ve been pretty much living at the gym lately.  (Not that it’s doing me any good.  Yet.)  Because of that, I’m needing like 5-6 different workout outfits a week and I had a lot less “cute” workout gear than I thought I did.

So I’m in the market for some new workout gear.  Here’s a few pieces I’ve been coveting online:

Flattering cut on this Horizon Tank on Athleta ($59)

Nice kelly green color on this Under Armour Women’s Get it Started Sleeveless Tee ($29.99 at Dick’s Sporting Goods)

I have had the Lucy Hatha Power Pants for a couple of years now and they’ve held up really well.  Now I have the Lucy Hatha Power Capris ($79) in my cart and it’s only a matter of time before I buy ‘em!  The price is steep but the clothes from Lucy are very high quality and made to last.  No coupon codes that I can find right now but keep an eye out for them online because they do come out with 20% off ones from time to time.

prAna Quinn Top, normally $48, on sale for $28.80 (in fact, prAna is having a big 40% off sale from January 18-25 so check it out!)

Lulumon Deep Breath Tank ($58)

Athleta Burnout Headband ($14)

40% off EVERYTHING at AnnTaylor.com

Use coupon code WEEKEND for 40% off your order of $150 or more on AnnTaylor.com.  Free shipping, too!

Fashion Friday: Great Sale Prices on Winter Boots & Shoes

Lots of good sales going right now from retailers trying to suck in the post-holiday sale crowd and it’s definitely getting harder and harder to resist!  I recently scored two awesome pairs of shoes on a trip to my local DSW (when I was supposedly there shopping only for my hubby) because I couldn’t resist the prices.

Here’s a few picks to tempt you to spend:

Charles David Avenger Bootie. Normally $125, currently $69.95.  Use coupon code SHOELOVE to receive $5 off your purchase at DSWShoes.com.

Vince Camuto Braden Boots at Piperlime.com. Normally $149.99, on sale for $99.99.

Not on sale but very reasonably priced and don’t you just love the Dark Blue color on these BCBGeneration “Cielo” Pumps from Nordstrom for $88.95?

These Ugg Ravenna Boots are normally $350, on sale for $249.90 at Zappos.com.  Still steep but what a pair of great staple boots to have in your closet!  These are totally vesitile for dressing up and down and I love the wedge heel!

And while we’re on Zappos.com, how about these Steven Meteour Cognac Leather boots on sale for $149.99?  Love the color.

Oooh or how about these Ugg Josie Stout boots that can be full sized boots, or fold down to be booties?  A girl’s gotta have options, right?  Get the Ugg Josie Stout boot for $149.99 on Zappos.com.

You can’t beat the price on these Women’s Chaka Fur Booties at Sears.  Normally $39.95, they are on sale through end of day January 7th for $29.95 with free shipping (free shipping on all orders over $25)

Fashion Friday: The Card Cubby ($20) – A Must Have Holiday Pick for Women

Last week, I was out shopping with my good friend Jen (and Mommies with Style writer!)  We were talking by one store when she remarked she had a $10 gift card from a few years ago that she wanted to go in and use.  I’m all, “I can’t believe you still have that gift card.  I always lose mine.”  She proceeded to show me her Card Cubby, a product that’s actually sold Debbie, by another Mommies with Style writer on her website, Shopaholics Shop.

Now I had seen the Card Cubby before online but never in person and you ladies have to believe me, you NEED this.  Because if you’re in any way like me, you may be carrying your coupons, gift cards and frequent buyer cards in something like this:

20111212-110641.jpg

Total disaster, right?  And that’s just the ones I was organized enough to put into two Ziplock bags.  I also have gift cards randomly floating around in my wallet in various hidden pockets (and they inevitably sit there and NEVER get used because I forget about them!)

Now, all of my frequent buyer cards, business cards, coupons and gift cards that were totally disorganized in my purse are sitting inside of this, the Card Cubby:

I got it my Card Cubby in Lime Croc.  It’s alphabetized inside with tabs so you can easily find everything.

Here I am pulling out a Children’s Place gift card from the C tab:

20111215-010550.jpg

This is truly a must-have.  It’s trendy looking, it keeps you organized and the price is right – $20.00.  Get the Card Cubby at Shopaholic’s Shop for $20.00 plus shipping (which is around $5).

Guys, this is an AWESOME and affordable gift to get her this holiday season!  Hurry and you can get it in time!

Fashion Friday: Rainbow Colored Pants

Did I lure you in with the title? I’m not actually featuring one pair of pants that has every color of the rainbow for Fashion Friday. Although I’m sure it probably exists and there’s someone out there who can pull off that look. But it’s certainly not me!

That said, colored jeans and pants with a little color are definitely in this season so I got the idea to see if I could find one pair of pants for each color of the rainbow. So without further ado, here we go.  What do you think?  Let me know at the end of the post your thoughts – which of these pants would you wear?

RED:

Morrison Vintage Courduroy Pants – $225 at ShopBop.com

ORANGE:

Vince Crop Skinny Stretch Pants – $225 at Nordstrom.com

YELLOW:

Cheap Monday Casual Pants in Yellow - $47

GREEN:

Green Bootcut Pant in Courduroy from Victoria’s Secret – normally $69.50, on sale for $55.60

Fashion Friday: Gold Jewelry

All my life, I’ve worn silver jewelry.  I remember actually disliking gold jewelry when I was in high school and then in college and beyond, I never considered accessorizing with gold.

But a couple of years ago (with some Mommies with Style influence), I started wearing gold.  I’ve been slowing building up my collection of gold jewelry and I find I go to it more than silver these days.

What about you?  Are you a gold, silver or a little bit of both kind of gal?

Here’s a few fun gold jewelry picks I’ve been coveting from around the web lately:

Hive & Honey Rope Wrap Bracelet – $34 at Piperlime.com

Tinley Road Foil Bangle Braclet – normally $20, on sale for $13.99 at Piperlime.com

Adrienne Mixed Chain Necklace from Stella & Dot – $128.00

Classic Jenna Bracelet from JCrew.com – $88.00

Keeping Warm With Sierra Designs’ Flex Hoody Vest

It’s cold. Usually fall is the nicest time of year where I live – yes, even nicer than summer which can be marred by fog.  After all the tourists have left, fall usually has unusually warm days, afternoons best spent at the beach and long evenings just begging you to come have dinner out on the deck. Except for this fall, which for some reason has been filled with more fog, cold and general fall-ness than normal.

But not to worry. The tea basket has found its place out on the counter, the crockpot is working overtime and my Sierra Designs Flex Hoody Vest has been keeping me warm on our  morning school drop-offs and post-dinner walks.  When Sierra Designs first sent this for me to test out a month or so ago, I honestly didn’t think I’d have a reason to test it for a few months at least – but the weather gods had different plans. So I’ve been giving the Flex Hoody Vest some serious playtime the last few weeks, and I’ve come to find out, there’s lots to love about it.

Warmth – with 650 fill goose down, the Flex Hoody Vest keeps your torso toasty without adding bulk to your arms or decreasing mobility.

Hood – I’ve owned three vests in my lifetime, but none of them has had a hood, a feature I’ve loved for keeping head and ears warm on crisp walks and even when not worn, providing additional neck warmth and wind coverage.

Pockets – like most moms, I always travel with my “stuff” even if I’m just going around the block – my phone, cash, gloss, tissue – so I love the 2 zippered hand pockets and 3 interior pockets (1 zippered) for all the things I need when I’m out with the kids.

Color – I know a warm, down vest should be all about practical things, but it doesn’t hurt that Sierra Designs has some nice color options too. From Fern, Magenta and Sky to Eggplant, Agate and Black, you’ll find a subdued, natural or vibrant color to match your style and personality.

Visit Sierra Designs to learn more about the Flex Hoody Vest and their entire line of outer wear, active wear and gear for all your family’s outdoor adventures.

Fashion Friday: The Great Shoe Sale at Macy’s (15%-30% off All Shoes!)

By the time you guys read this, I’ll be in the car headed north – towards Burlington, Vermont.  My dear cousin Emily is getting married tomorrow to a great guy and I could not be more excited for her!

So I was kind of stumped on what to wear.  Outside wedding in Vermont in the fall… could be cold, could be warm?

I’ll let you all wonder for a week and I’ll be sure to post my outfit after the wedding’s over for next Friday’s Fashion Friday but in the meantime, I wanted to talk boots.  Because one thing I will let on was that I knew I wanted a pair of dressy boots for Emily’s wedding.

Are dressy boots okay for a wedding?  You all can weigh in but I decided they would be by dressing up the rest of my outfit to offset the fact that I wouldn’t be in heels.  And while I have a couple of pairs of black boots, I didn’t have anything I thought was really dressy enough so I went shopping.  (Any excuse, right?)

I ended up with this pair of Enzo Angiolini Karissa Boots.  I loved the heel and they are really comfortable!

Right now Macy’s is having a big Columbus Sale sale  - up to 30% off shoes when you buy in-store.  You can also get 15% off plus free shipping through Monday when you use coupon code SAVEMORE.

Fashion Friday: Football Chic

A couple of years ago, I started doing Fantasy Football with my husband and some good friends.  Already an Eagles fan, being a part of a Fantasy League has only served to make football something even more exciting for our family each fall.  There’s just something to be said for an afternoon on the couch screaming at the tv, eating fattening food, drinking some beer and letting the kids run around with their friends on Sunday afternoons.

So this week, I’m going Football Chic.  Most Sundays in the fall consist of a Philadelphia Eagles jersey and jeans but I often find cute Eagles tees at local stores.  So without further ado (and I apologize in advance for the Philly-heavy features), scream, shot and still look cute with these ideas for Football Chic:

Love the cut of this Women’s Football Short Sleeve Shirt from Reebok – available at Dick’s for $34.99.

I do really love the pink jersey.  It’s girly and it’s great for October, which has now become known as the month to wear pink to show your support of breast cancer awareness.  I have two pink Eagles tees that I bought last year just for that reason and one of these days I’ll cave and get myself a Pink Philadelphia Eagles Jersey like this one from Sports Authority for $64.99.

How completely awesome is this Eagles “Kicker” Maternity Shirt for the pregnant Mom?  It comes with a matching onesie and bib for after the baby comes!  Also from Reebok, the Women’s Kicker Maternity T-Shirt and Onesie is available on Amazon for $44.99. (They of course have other teams than the Eagles so search on yours!)

So Alyssa Milano now has her own line of NFL gear – who knew?  Here she is sporting the Touch by Alyssa Milano New England Patriots Burnout Thermal Long Sleeve T.  Get it on the Nflshop.com for $39.99.  They have all the major teams so pick yours!

And I literally spoke outloud, “Shut the Hell Up” when I spotted this one.  You can Customize your own Jeans with your football teams logos on the back pocket of these jeans!  Women’s Custom NFL Jeans – $74.99 on NFLShop.com.

For $22.99 this Seattle Seahawks Heart Charm Bracelet ($22.99 at FansEdge.com) makes a great gift and is a fun way for a girly football fan to bling it up on Sundays!
