Disney’s Princess & the Frog releases tomorrow: Plus $10 off coupon

15. March 2010

It’s been hard to miss, but in case you have, Disney’s latest release:  The Princess and the Frog, is coming out tomorrow on DVD.  It’s a cute family film that’s good for all ages.  Normally my boys would run screaming from anything that has the word “Princess” in the title, but they stuck around because of the “Frog” and they weren’t disappointed.

Also true to Disney, there’s plenty of adult humor mixed throughout the movie so we were entertained watching it as well.

Get the single-disc DVD on Amazon for $16.99 with free shipping, or the 3-Disc combo w/Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Copy for $27.99.

Even better, if you plan on heading out to the stores to get it in person, be sure to print out this coupon to receive $10 off the 3-Disc combo in person.  (FYI, if you have trouble getting it to load, try Firefox.  It wouldn’t load for me in IE but will load in Firefox.)

Image and video hosting by TinyPicMy time at the Toy Fair in NYC was kicked off by Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 3 Event, showcasing the more than 250 new Toy Story 3 Toys. The newest Toy Story movie will be released on June 18.

In the film, Andy is now 18 and going off to college. His parents donate his toys to the Sunnyside Day Care Center — which looks terrific…. at first. Things quickly deteriorate and the toys need to be rescued. Will Andy get there in time? Click here to watch the trailer.

To unveil the Toy Story 3 toys, the Green Army Men repelled from the ceiling in “take-over” mode to look at some of the new toys releasing this Summer and into the 2010 Holiday season.  John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, Lee Unkrich, director, Toy Story 3, Darla K. Anderson, producer, Toy Story 3 and John Ratzenberger, voice of Hamm, were on hand to introduce the new toys.

Fun movie release: the Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD

15. February 2010

While I don’t know that there is such a thing as too-much-Disney, I will say that it was refreshing to watch some un-Disney characters on the flight home from Disney World last week.  My boys watched the new Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD as we flew home from a fun-filled week in Disney World, and I have to say I was laughing right along side them at some of the takes in this movie.

You probably remember the Penguins from the Madagascar movie – I know that they were personal favorites of mine.  While watching this movie, I was reminded of how I used to love watching the Tracy Ullman show for the short Simpsons skits all those years ago.  The Penguins definitely steal the show and continue to entertain in Operation: DVD, the first full DVD feature the Penguins have to themselves.

It’s a steal at $11.99 on Amazon right now ($26.99 retail) – and fyi, it’s a full 2-hour feature so you are definitely getting a movie out of this purchase.

Tommee Tippee Truly Spill-Proof Straw Cup & Water Bottle

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Got a leaky straw cup? For a true spill-proof version, check out Tommee Tippee’s Truly Spill-Proof Straw Cup ($7.99 for a 2 pack). I reviewed several of Tommee Tippee’s products last month and loved them – click here to read my post.

My two children, ages 4 and 2, use straw cups constantly. While we love one very popular brand, I am sick of seeing milk dribbled on my carpet. Tommee Tippee’s Truly Spill-Proof Straw Cup were truly spill-proof — nothing my children (or I) did made these cups leak! I turned them upside down, shook them and I was thrilled to see no leaks! The 9 oz cup is BPA-free and suitable for children ages 12 months and up. In fact, all Tommee Tippee’s products are BPA-free.

Funky Monkey Snacks: 100% Natural Freeze-dried Fruit That is 100% Delish!

25. January 2010

Image and video hosting by TinyPicI’m always on a hunt for healthy snacks for my kids. We recently received some samples of Funky Monkey Snacks - 100% natural freeze-dried fruit with no added sugar, colors, flavors or preservatives. Each 1 oz. bag contains 3 servings of fruit.

We tried their 3 new flavors: Applemon (freeze-dried apple and organic cinnamon), MangOJ (freeze-dried mango and orange juice), and Pink Pineapple (freeze-dried organic pineapple and guava). All of Funky Monkey Snacks’ freeze-dried fruit snacks are gluten-free, dairy free and wheat free. It’s also kosher (parve), vegan and a raw food.

Applemon made the biggest impression on my children and two of my nieces. At my daughter’s 2nd birthday, I tried to make the snacks healthy. I put out baked blue tortilla chips (a success) and carrots w/ hummus (not a success). As a last ditch option, I put the Applemon out. My very picky 4 year old son and his 4 year old cousin could not stop eating it! They loved the naturally sweet crunchiness.

The MangOJ and Pink Pineapple were yummy too. Since the pieces were a little bigger than the freeze-dried fruit I usually buy, my son did not have the same enthuisasm for those flavors and wouldn’t even try them. But my 2 year old daughter and I happily enjoyed them. More for us!

Funky Monkey is definitely worth your time — click here to find where to buy Funky Monkey Snacks.

The company sent us some samples for review purposes.
