How it works
Jellyfish’s Smack is a reverse auction: as time
passes, price drops. It’s like Woot!
on steroids, but instead of one product in one day – it’s several
products in an even shorter amount of time. The game is to buy the product at the lowest price
possible. Towards the end it can get as low as 100% off. The trick is
that you don’t know how many units are in stock, so if you wait too
long… you lose out.
In the beginning of each event, the cash back amount increases every second
until a hidden quantity of items is sold out (or until the cash back
amount reaches 100% – at which point, it’s free). The deal gets better
every second that goes by, but if you wait too long the product is gone
forever and the deal is over. (Think of it like "Deal or No Deal" for
shopping.) While you wait for the price to drop, you can chat with others.
At checkout, players pay full price, but receive the cash back via
check within 60 days. Your credit card is charged by and sent from the
vendor, not Jellyfish. The vendors are sites you know and trust like
BabyCenter.com.
The shopping event will probably last two hours.
