I’m sitting here on Thursday afternoon and I realized, whoa, tomorrow’s Friday. Where did this week go? And what should I write about for this Friday’s post?
Looking out the window, I see a bunch of frozen snow that’s not going anywhere and I’m feeling all:
But hey. Isn’t that a cute scarf I’m wearing today? I got it at Banana Republic last year and that exact one isn’t not there anymore but look at all the cute scarves they have on sale right now. Cuz’ ya know, it’s February 28th and we should be shopping for spring only it’s still butt cold and might as well take advantage of the sales and get a couple of cute accessories, right? I love this Heritage Zebra Scarf ($49.50, 40% off with coupon code BRTUNEIN) and this Glenda Scarf (on sale for $39.50, another 40% off with coupon code BRTUNEIN)
I’m also wearing some of my fav Stella & Dot bracelets. The one on the left I’ve had for years and it doesn’t seem to be for sale anymore on the site. The middle one is the Renegade Cluster Bracelet ($59). I got it for my aunt for Christmas and I loved it so much that I just last month ordered one for myself! The one on the right is the Vintage Twist ($39).
Speaking of accessories, I got the cutest sample of flats the other day. I actually got an entire box of goodies for Valentine’s day courtesy of the folks at Tieks.com. They make high-end ballet flats. These things are gorgeous. They come with their own bag that you can use to store them inside of your handbag when you’re out for a night on the town in heels. Once your feet start hurting, you have a cute option to change into! They’re a bit on the pricey side ranging from $165-195 but definitely versatile. I got the Ruby Red Patent Tieks ($195):
I can’t wait to get a chance to wear them when there’s not a sheet of ice and 2 feet of snow all around me that makes me have to wear boots and don’t have other shoe options if I don’t want my toes to freeze off.
Speaking of freezing, I have a random story. So it was pretty bitter today. And my story that is totally unrelated to anything Fashion Friday related (well, it does involve my Banana Republic scarf a little) but talking about being cold reminded me of it.
So I was walking down the street today after a meeting at Barnes & Noble. This crunchy looking 20-something guy approaches me.
“Excuse me, ” he says, “I’m out here campaigning for so-and-so. She’s trying to get on the ballot for blah-blah-blah-political-something-or-other and by any chance do you happen to be a registered Democrat?”
In hindsight, I know I was well within my rights to tell him it was none of his beeswax and that he probably wasn’t allowed to be soliciting in a commercial area like that, but I responded, “No. I’m actually a registered Republican.”
He pauses for a second and says, “Huh. You looked like a Democrat. Well, thanks anyway.”
And then he walked away.
What does a Democrat look like anyway and what made me look like that? Think it was the scarf? Or my awesome smile? Anyway, I thought it was kind of random and was tempted to share on Facebook but didn’t want a political you-know-what-storm to explode on my page which is what pretty much always happens when you talk politics on Facebook so instead I’m sharing here on the blog for Fashion Friday. Cuz ya know, political party preference is soooo fashion forward, right?
That’s it for today. If there’s an award for the randomest Fashion Friday post this week, I win. TGIF people, I promise to be more focused with next week’s post. (Clearly it won’t take much.)
