A group of bridesmaids gathered around the bride at a bridesmaid luncheon. All had been told, "I'll provide the jewelry as my appreciation to you", so none of these fashionable ladies brought jewelry for tomorrow's wedding. I just got one of these cute Christmas time tees from Nina & Tom for my almost-3 year old. As soon as I opened the package, he insisted on putting it on. I've actually been surprised by how much I really enjoy cooking. Surprised for several reasons, beginning with my first experience in Home Ec (my goodness, I'm dating myself, I'm sure!) being saltier than the Dead Sea (she said, "a TABLESPOON, not a CUP!!" still echos through my head nearly everytime I cook, or think of Kitchen Team.) One thing I've learned is that organization is a huge piece of the puzzle. So I've found it so helpful to receive a weekly mailing of menus and recipes.
Each Thursday, Menus 4 Moms rings my e-bell. Inside their e-mail is a listing of five relatively simple, family friendly meals. We're not talking gourmet cooking, just simple, downhome yums. Tonight, for example, we're having Crockpot Lasagna, bread and Apple, Grape and Walnut salad. But I can also tell you what we're having for the rest of the week!
On any given Sunday, you'll find me with a print out of the meals, creating my shopping list. Menus 4 Moms actually supplies a list, but I've found that when I make my own, tailored to the layout of my grocery store, its even more organized.
So, after printing my menus, selecting the 4 meals I'll make for the week, creating my list (all on Sunday), we head to the grocery store on Monday morning. After that, I'm set, for the week. It is so rare that I head back to the store to catch up on groceries. And as long as I look ahead to the next day and place whatever was frozen in the fridge for thawing, I'm always prepared to answer that sing-songy, "Mom, what's for dinner?"

I have a little checklist of points, that helps me when I write diaper bag reviews. I've memorized it. And the minute I unwrap a bag, I'm already holding my breath as I tick items off my list. Exterior Appearance? Check. Pockets? Check. I'm pretty demanding, like an Olympic Figure Skating Judge. What's this, I might question? Cheap hardware? Oooh. Too bad. That will be a three point deduction. And the list goes on - How about a key clip? Check. Washable Non-Black Lining? Check. Ok, Ok, but how about this - is this bag going to even attempt to have feet? Hold on... Check.
For me, searching for the bag that manages to pull off all these stunts (and more!) is a breathtaking, heart pounding experience. Like an elusive perfect score, it has long seemed like this fully functional, ideally designed bag does not exist. But I'm here to tell you that there is at least one bag out there with the ability to nail it.

This high quality leather bag was not slapped together in an attempt to jump on the premium bag bandwagon. It was researched for years. And it shows. And the brown lining avoids black hole effect while avoiding showing dirt and also coordinates well to the exterior of the bag. You heard me. You had to suspect there would be a bonus move, a quadruple lutz thrown in for fun at the last minute, to get me so giddy. Without making you look like you are going to a picnic or sporting event (ice skating references aside).

Our family went to the Shedd Aquarium (Chicago) this weekend and it was a lot of fun. The one thing I dread on our little outings are the public restrooms. Yuck!
