My Mom got my three year old a subscription to Highlights High Five magazine for a year for Christmas. It's a classic, I remember reading the older version (Highlights) in my grandfather's waiting room when I was younger.

Anyway, it hasn't changed and my son gets so excited when it comes in the mail each month. Some favorites are the "Hidden Picture" section where they search and find images in a scenic picture, the puzzles and the read aloud section. (Educational AND fun, works for me!)

You can get it off Amazon for $29.64 for 12 issues - not exactly "cheap" as far as some magazine deals go but it's fun and makes a great gift. And it's kind of neat to see him all excited when I come in from the mailbox with a pile of magazines and there's one for him.
