This year's been a big one for me. I entered it with an infant and I'm leaving it with a toddler. We also potty trained Nate earlier last winter (had just turned 3); I've enjoyed a full year of not being pregnant (yay), and I spent most of 2007 breastfeeding, ending (sadly) in the late fall. I've been though a gamut of products over the course of the calendar year.
So here's a list of my top ten based on my own experiences - they are listed in no particular order, as ranking them would have been too confusing for my already tired Mommy mind:
Sara Bear Baskets -- I did a mini-review of our Sara Bear Basket the first week of January, when baby was 8 weeks old. This continues to be one of my all time favorites for use with a newborn. As a two-time C-section Mom, I can really appreciate not having to go up and down the stairs to change baby's diaper in his room.
For months, we kept a Sara Bear diaper caddy stocked on the first floor. The liner inside the basket offers different cubbies for necessary items like diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream. I loved the convenience of it. Use coupon code STYLE for 10%. Continental US shipping only. Expires 1/31/2008.
GlamourMom tanks -- So I literally lived in these tank tops the entire time I was breastfeeding. They provide easy access for quick breastfeeding, and what I loved the most is that they kept my stomach covered while I was doing it. I layered up with these in the winter and would wear only these and a tank or tee shirt in the summer. I wrote a full review last February.
You can find them on the Mom 4 Life site. You have to go through this link to get to the homepage, if you do you'll get 10% off. Do a search on "glamourmom" from there. Or, get them on the SuperMomz site, where they are on sale for $37.95 and you can use coupon code mwsfree for free shipping.
I can not rave enough about these tank tops - nursing bras are great but the GlamourMom is a nursing bra and extra coverage in one.
Hooter Hider/Bebe Au Lait - along those same lines, I have to add the Hooter Hider, or Bebe Au Lait. I really wasn't one of those nursing Moms who had to hide myself - I nursed in public like a champ in the end, but I'm a modest person and *I* felt more comfortable if the only one seeing my exposed self was me and the baby. Anyway, the Hooter Hider is also a must-have for any nursing Mama. It loops right over your head and covers baby. The top part of the cover has a wire inside of it, so it bends to allow eye contact with you and your child where no one else can see.
I'm cheating a little because this was also on my best of 2006 list. But I had to list it again - it came a long way with me again in 2007 and I wouldn't feel right leaving it out. It's arguably the baby product I used the most consistently all year long.
Find it at Modern Milk, use coupon code mws for free shipping on orders over $25. Or Mom4Life, go through this link and search for "Hooter Hider" and you'll get 10% off. And here's my original review of it for a longer description.
Wooden, American-made toys -- it's been a crazy year of one recall after another on some big name brand toys. I was skeptical about buying just about anything for Christmas, and I already have one toy that was under the tree that I've since found out has been recalled. To say it's annoying is an understatement.
I've been moving more and more towards wooden and American-made toys that I know are safe for my kids. Melissa & Doug are of course a big one (check out Gummy Lump for a full collection that is all 10% off), but I also liked shopping at Oh-Toys.com for Cuboro blocks and marble runs. And ImagiPlay has some great toys that are not only safe for your children but are eco-friendly. You can use coupon code TopTen0330 for 15% off the ImagiPlay site until March 30, 2008.
Dad Gear backpack - On a recent trip to Florida, both hubby and I carried our own Dad Gear backpacks. I have to say, I don't know how I lived on the plane before using one. This backpack has everything needed for extended travel or big packing days -- a thin changing pad, a built-in wipes case, space for diapers, bottles and so much more. Basically compartments for all sorts of goodies you need when traveling with young children.
Use coupon code MWS15 for 15% off your order of anything on the DadGear site. Hubby's also recently been wearing the Dad Gear Diaper Vest and loving it so be sure to check those out while on the site too.
Svan's High Chair - So my big-bulky-ugly Baby Trend high chair from when Nate was a baby has officially left the house. Yay! I see no reason to ever use it again as we're still adoring the Svan High Chair.
It's easy to clean, takes up very little room in my kitchen and is actually a pleasing-looking piece of furniture. It has different settings to grow with child from baby up to teenager.
You can pick the color wood/stain as well as cushion choice. You can buy it at Albee Baby for $224 and it ships free.
Little Docs by Circle of Friends - this lotion is the only over-the-counter cream I've found that even moderately helps Cole's bad eczema. If we keep up with it and put it on daily, it keeps his dry skin at bay.
I can't say that about any other cream other than the prescribed hydrocortisone cream we have from the pedi. We use the Calming Cream and the Soothing Lotion. I reviewed Little Docs back in June and continue to be thrilled with the results.
Check their local retailers page to see where you can find it near you if you don't want to order it online. They supposedly carry it at some Targets and Walmarts, and when looking up my town I found that it's also carried at Ulta.
Merrell McGinness Handbags - I carried the Merrell McGinness Margaret bag the entire fall and I still love it. I reviewed it in August and spent the entire fall adoring it and receiving all sorts of compliments on it. It's bigger than it looks, although I'm also an efficient packer. But I had plenty of room for diapers, wipes and a sippy or two, plus the rest of the usual necessities. You can check out their entire line at www.merrellbags.com.
Summer Video Monitor -- Hubby calls it "Cole TV." Each night he has to ask, "can you please turn off Cole TV now that he's asleep?" I'm addicted. It's by far the best "channel" we have in the house. I just love watching him play/talk/fall asleep each night.
We got it late in baby terms - we didn't have one with Nate at all, but Cole was a horrible sleeper early on. We co-slept until he was 6 months old and I had a hard time transitioning him to his crib. The monitor was a purchase at that time. It helped tremendously - I could see that he was just fine and it stopped me from running in every five minutes. Plus, we had to cry it out some and "seeing" that he was okay really abated much worry on my part.
The best part now is when he wakes up and waves to the camera. Good morning, Mom! I love it. So worth the $100. You can find it on Amazon (ships for free) or in-store at Babies R Us.
Lascal Buggy Board Maxi - I'm happy to report that we've recently graduated from the double stroller to using the single again, with the addition of a ride on board for the days I have both kids with me.
On our recent plane trip, we had the Buggy board and we were blown away by how much easier it made travel. Nate calls it his "surf board" and gets a kick out of "surfing" while we push. It snaps right onto the back of the stroller (check to see if it's compatible with your single).
Obviously this only works with an older child but it's a great transition product when you have a child that's big but not quite big enough for trips where lots of walking's involved.
MWS special for Let's Go Strolling: Shop before 1/15/08 and save 10% on strollers with code MWS0810 and 15% on diaper bags and accessories with code MWS0815. Please note that certain manufacturers are excluded from this offer.
Runner Ups:
the iPhone. Honestly it should have made by top 10, but no one wanted to hear me blab on and on again about how obsessed I am. So you can read my review from earlier in the year here if you're interested.
Wall Candy Arts - these wall decals are too fun. Kids can draw right on the chalk boards. Read my review from August.
Graco's Baby Einstein Exersaucer - borrowed from Julie, this exersaucer saw a serious amount of play. Two kids later, I have yet to see a more entertaining one. I included it in a mini-review back in May. The only reason it's not in my top ten is that I felt sort of lame doing a plain old exersaucer. But really, this one's fantastic and provides hours of entertainment to baby.
Baby Jogger stroller - and the only reason this is even a runner-up is because I had it in my top ten last year. Still loving using both our single and double City Series.
Little Jules birth necklace - I wear one, my Mom wears one, my sister now wears one (with her nephews birth dates). Simple, classic. Use coupon code MWSGIFT and get $10 off your order.
Cloud B's Twilight Turtle - check out my review from earlier this month. Both boys love this product.
Since I became pregnant in April and starting posting reviews on Mommies With Style in June, I've come across a lot of great products that have made my life easier or made me feel better. Most of my top picks are pregnancy related. Enjoy!
1. Bumpil's On the Way Pillow
I love Bumpil's On the Way Pillow because A) it stopped my leg cramps at 31 weeks for GOOD. B) Now it props me up on the bed and the couch because I'm giving birth very soon. C) After the baby is born, I can use it to prop her up or to support her during breastfeeding and D) It unzips to make a safe area with bumpers for the baby to lie on. I love that you can use it so many different ways. More bang for your buck!
2. Zuma High Chair & M'Home Collection from Inglesina
I love the Zuma High Chair and the rest of the M'Home Collection from Inglesina. The Zuma is funky, stylish, but more importantly a GOOD highchair. The highchair is very sturdy and I loved how easy it was to put together and use. I can't wait to use it with my little girl - she'll be sitting up highwhile chowing down on her first foods this summer! I'm also coveting the Loft Rocker, powered by baby, not a battery. The Spa Changing Table makes me wish I already didn't own a changing table - so cute and you can pick the mattress up to add water to bathe the baby in it.. How cool is that?
When my first child was born 2 years ago, he was 10 days early and we weren't really packed. I didn't want that to happen this time with baby #2. Shari Miller from Birth'a Bag came to my rescue and packed the essentials for labor & delivery for me! She puts in personal care products such as organic deodorant, dental floss, moisturizer, a wooden hairbrush, and snacks for your birthing partner. Turns out I will be having a c-section, but I am ready for recovery and my hospital stay (just needed to throw in a nursing bra, my BINSI Go Go Top to use as a nursing bra, dearjohnnies hospital gown and a going home outfit for baby and me!)

I fell in love with the Bella Band very early in this pregnancy. Basically, every day you will find me wearing one. My favorite is the black lace. My regular pants will not button and the Bella Band hides that. I hate the big maternity panels on my shorts, so the Bella Band covers it up as well. It looks great - no one knows I'm wearing it unless I tell them. It also supports my tummy and I actually feel better when I wear it. Another plus, my 2 year old son always yanks up my shirt to see my tummy - the Bella Band preserves my modesty.
Use coupon code MWS07 for 10% off plus free shipping for any 2 or more Bella Bands.
5. BINSI Birth Apparel
BINSI's Labor and Birth Apparel is perfect for labor and delivery. I am going to a c-section because my baby is breech, but I will be wearing the Go Go Top as a nursing bra during my surgery, underneath my gown so I can nurse as soon as possible afterwards and I will be wearing their Prima Mama Skirt afterwards for comfort reasons. According to BINSI's website, "This clothing line specializes in unique birthing skirts and tops for women who want more comfort, control, and empowerment in the delivery room. The skirt’s unique design is Carri’s own; her expertise isn’t grounded in the clothing or fashion industry, but in working with women as a certified doula. Every BINSI garment is designed to work well for doctors, nurses, anesthesiologist-and most of all mommies! BINSIskirts fit below the belly and were designed, along with all the items, to accommodate any medical equipment- even the epidural.BINSI skirts and tops include such features as: front hooks, snaps, adjustable straps and drawstring waistbands, which allows for easy and quick removal."
Exclusive discount for MWS Readers: BINSI is offering 15% off your entire order with code: style.
Rachel Zinny, the owner of dearjohnnies, sent me a gorgeous hospital gown that actually fit me! I'm loving the plus-sized Mimi Gown ($65) from her Limited Edition collection- which features cool, funky prints.. I liked the snap up back (yeah, no breeze) and that it comfortably fit my hugely pregnant body. The two ribbon ties (a classy pink grosgrain) were secure and tied tightly. No flapping in the breeze! The company suggests you wash it a few times before you use it to make it a little softer. My husband actually picked out the Mimi Gown, which was a mintish green with yellow, blue, orange and pink circles. My tush didn't show either. Since it is a hospital gown, I don't think I'll get a problem from the nurses. You can easily pull down the shoulders for breastfeeding access (a plus!). I will be wearing this as soon as I get into recovery, so I can be comfortable!
Exclusive Discount for MWS Readers: Use MWS20 for 20% off all orders excluding monogramming and shipping charges (discount may not be combined with other discounts). The code expires 1/31/08.
Noodle and Boo's The Balm is the only product ($24 for 6.5 oz) actually moisturizes my super dry feet and feels wonderful. Made with oh-so-rich organic shea butter, sunflower oil and with a blend of billberry, lemon, orange, sugar cane and sugar maple extracts, it smells amazing (but I like that it works!) It also kept the moisture in for hours (something the other lotions I've used just don't do). Treat your feet to this, whether you're pregnant or not! I do not let it out of my sight!
The maternity t-shirts from 2chix are hip, cute and comfortable. How can you beat that? Sassy, but not obnoxious, they celebrate your pregnancy with slogans such as "Haute Mama" tee ($38) in hot pink or black, "Preggo Fabulous" in the long sleeve tee ($52), or "What's Kickin" ($52) in a long sleeve tee in either pink or blue font, I also loved their 40 Week Skirt ($58) - a cute %100 cotton drawstring long skirt for pregnancy and the transition period after. Comes in the army (olive green) color or black. So cute!!
Exclusive for MWS Readers: Use discount code:MommyStyleTop10 for 15% off. Good through March 30, 2008.
Christina Aguilera is a big fan (and so am I). These hip maternity and non-maternity fashions by Hot Mama Ink celebrates your goddess status with hip (and anything BUT boring) shirts, hoodies, pants and tanks, as well as baby slings. They even have two nursing tanks and a pro-nursing shirt. According to their website (and I wholeheartily agree with this), "A HOT MAMA defines herself by the style that she wears, the attitude she declares, and the bond that she shares with her baby. HOT MAMA INK is designed to embrace all that a mother is, and all she wants to be, with its one-of-a-kind artwork, designed for the HOT MAMA in every woman." The clothes were cool and yet very comfortable for my life as a mom to one, with one on the way!
My husband and I are big followers of Dr. Harvey Karp, who recommends swaddling as part of his 5 S's for calming a baby (swaddling, shushing, swinging (NOT SHAKING), sucking (pacis) and side-positioning the baby). With Solana's lightweight blankets made of muslin or gauze, we will be ready to swaddle baby #2 a little better.
Doctors recommend not to swaddle the baby with heavy blankets (risk of overheating). Since our apartment building turns up the heat way too high, especially in the winter, we will be using Solana's Swaddle Wraps to keep our baby comfortable and calm!! These lightweight swaddle blankets are hand-made in Australia. The website also has detailed swaddling directions for those clueless parents like me!

Ahhh... the end of another year. A time for champagne, chick peas, football, countdowns and an endless number of top 10s. Saying sayonara to '07, a look at my top 10 reviews in, of course, no particular order:
Suzanne Myers Jewelry
Of the 350 days since receiving this necklace, I'd be surprised if I didn't wear it 340 days. This gorgeous piece has become a part of my daily ritual. Each day, not only do I carefully put it on, but I stop to admire it in the mirror as I head out of my bedroom, and my kids admire it nearly every time I come to their level--moving the charms around to read their names. I've mentioned before that Suzanne is a lovely woman to work with, one who takes pride in her hand-created art. I've noticed more Suzanne Myers jewels popping up in the neighborhood and preschool as 2007 has progressed, but if you have yet to ask for the scoop of my priceless jewels, check out my original review.
Life is Good Clothing and Accessories
You know the rule of the jeep owner? The one that states that all who drive a Jeep have to wave to each other as they drive by? Have you heard that's also true for Life is Good wearers? I'm not joking. Every time I wear Life is Good and I pass another wearing LiG, we greet each other with a friendly "hello." You see, LiG wearers are a part of a secret society. We enjoy ourselves. So, I'll admit it, I may be obsessed. I didn't realize it at first, it actually took a few weeks until I began being teased by a few of the moms at our preschool. Teased because, apparently, my life is good. And so are the lives of my boys. And everyone knows it. Yes, upon testing out so much of their clothing, I did, indeed, become a bit obsessed. I continued to buy... and buy... and buy. As each new season of clothing is introduced, I'm back on the LiG website, filling up my cart with new "have to wears." And of my newest clothing, I have to tell you that I love love love my knit hat, my snuggle socks and my long sleeve graphic tees. And I'm still drooling over the new full-zip sweater and those slippers; I'm dreaming of lounging back in those.
Mommy Make-Up
Another 2007 addition to my daily routine isMommy Make-up. This fantastic make-up kit has shortened my get-ready time, but lengthened my look--to one that looks like it took a lot more time to apply than it did. The pieces are all there in the kit, and there's no need to scrounge around to determine what will work where and how because it comes with handy directions. And with the mesh cosmetic, this kit comes with me to the gym for a fast fix-up after my post-workout shower.
Grace Table by Jennifer deLong
It began in the summer of '06 when we had our basement finished. A simple quest to design a practical, engaging and useful playroom became, nearly, an obsession. My husband worked to complete shelving before the toys started taking over. We added a kitchen which provides many hours of fun pretend-play, but something was still missing. After incorporating some organization tools, our furnishings were nearly complete. But this summer, the ultimate pieces were incorporated into the playroom: we received a Jennifer DeLong Grace Table and Stools, giving us the final element to make our basement complete. Only a few weeks later, however, this table was moved to "Mommy and Daddy's playroom" (aka our basement family room) when it was needed as a cocktail table. And weeks later, we moved it upstairs to our family room for the boys' birthday party, where it stayed for weeks as a crafting table. A true gem in our home, the style and versatility of the Grace Table have allowed it to move from child's kitchen table to a living room piece, no hiding under a fancy table cloth required.
Animal Bag by Boon
Back in the basement, another key item that we seriously couldn't live without is our Animal Bag by Boon. So much more than a Beanie Bag Pillow (though an excellent ottoman for reading with the kids) the Animal Bag now holds many more stuffed friends than it did in February when I wrote the original review. (We've been through many an Urgent Health Care visit with free bears, 2 birthdays, 1 Christmas, 1 Chanukkah... and how many new stuffed animals!?) And while there was screaming today as Carson unzipped the bag to add yet another Baby Brown Bear and Wes fought him to keep the bear out, at least there is a place where all the animals can gather... and keep them out and away from cluttering my world.
Club Swim Swimwear
A little over a year ago I was ever-so-kindly informed that my bathing suits were made for old ladies and didn't compliment my body--at all. So, before a trip to Mexico, I rushed to the mall for sexy new swimsuits, tossing the old ones out the car window. But returning from Mexico, I becaqme aware that as much as I loathed the tossed ones, they were certainly more practical at Mommy and Me swim class and for catching a jumper in the "deep" end than the teeny-weenies from the beach. Finding Club Swim was dream. These inexpensive suits look good and stay on through the biggest splashes and pulls. Being made for competitive and fitness swimming they were the perfect suits for this summer with the kids--from Mommy and Me to relaxing in the beach pool--this summer I looked good and felt good.
Skip Hop's Triple Bottle Bag
While the purpose of Skip Hop's Triple Bottle Bag may be to keep baby bottles chilled, my 2 year old will soon be "pack-packing" his for lunch at preschool. Its sized perfectly for his back and is very light weight. Plus, this bag puts Aunt Jenny to shame. Remember the episode of Brady Bunch where she pulls more and more gifts for the kids out of her bag? The Triple Bottle Bag has a similar effect. We used it this summer and this somewhat tiny bag easily held more than my kids could eat. I had no problem fitting in their sandwiches, snacks, a SIGG and the cold pack.
Automoblox Minis
After appearing on so many Top 10 lists in 2006, I hesitated to include Automoblox again. But this year's addition to the collection, the Minis are so beloved in our home that I would be remiss to leave them out. We're big fans of Automoblox, have been since they first came out. And ever since my 2 year old got ahold of his Automoblox Mini, its been hard for him to put it down. The size is just perfect for his little hands and he can manipulate this one much easier than the original size. That, and the fact that I can fit a few in a Ziploc bag that's tossed in my bag, make the Automoblox Minis qualify for a spot on 2007's list.
Bumpyname by Inchbug When I introduced the MWS audience to Bumpyname by Inchbug, I praised them for making it easy to tell who was drinking what--a savior for playdates and park days. Little did I know that in the upcoming months one of my boys would be diagnosed Lactose Intolerant and the labels would become a necessity in our house. Just a tablespoon of real milk, and my big guy is sick, unfairly sick. By labeling our cups with Bumpynames, we have yet to have a drink mix-up, and my four-year-old has been healthy since September. My husband may have thanked me for finding the labels, but I thank Inchbug for helping my guy stay healthy.
See Kai Run and Sweet Shoes
At some point during the past 2 years, I became known in some MWS circles as a "shoe guru." Spending hours studying baby shoes will do that, you know? So while Wesley still adores his soft shoes, this year as he grew, he helped me to broaden my shoe-horizons, learning about "big kid" shoes as well. With so many shoes being sampled, our shoe area tends to overwhelm. But finding the most worn wasn't difficult, and rounding out this years Top Ten list is number 10-a: See Kai Run shoes. Not only adorable, I love the flexibility of these shoes. They are also W-I-D-E which is perfect for a little grower and the completely foldable rubber sole allows a beginning walker to still find his footing.
No, that wasn't a typo, SKR was number 10-a, and number 10-b belongs to a shoe that Wes doesn't want not to wear: his Sweet Shoes. Jen reviewed these a few months ago and at first I thought the shoes to be to rocker-ish for my preppy boy's feet. But when we recieved our pair, I realized that the rocker impression, while truly there, is actually adorable. Plus, the shoes fit so well (they run large, Wes wears a size 7.5 shoe and is still in 18-24 month shoes) that he insists on wearing these soft-soled shoes daily--would rather them over any hard soles.
The year was so great, that I couldn't just stop at 10-b. And while I hold special places for all of my reviews, I have to mention a few of the runner-ups:
38 Weeks Pregnant: 1 More Push Labor and Delivery Kits
We're getting down to the wire here, the baby could come any day. While she's still breech, and I am scheduled for a C-section, baby girl could still turn. And if she does, I will be ready for labor.
I feel ready for anything because of 1 More Push's great labor & delivery kit ($55). Even if I have the C-section, all these items can be used before and after in the hospital. They are cutely labeled and made me smile. The Kit contains
A stress ball (definitely would come in handy during contractions - instead of mauling your birthing partner's hand) Back Massager Mints Lip Balm (to combat those lizard lips) Hair Ribbon Ankle Socks (keep your tootsies warm while every other bit of you is hanging out) Washcloth Pen and Pad (always comes in handy - you could write down a list of things to do after baby comes or even start your "To Call/Email" list) Organic Lollipops (to combat dehydration) Newborn Onesie (that says "Going Home")
Lindsey Keller (who's expecting baby #3 in April) and her mom, Lori, are the owners. Lori was diagnosed with cancer in March 2006. Lindsey closed her home daycare business to take care of her mother and together they came up with this idea while her mom was sick ( thankfully she's in remission now).
This makes a great gift for any expectant mom (or snag it for yourself) - I wish I had had thought of putting together a kit like this when I was in labor for so many hours with my first child!!!
Buy the kit from their website (and get free shipping and handling). Shop 1 More Push.

It wasn't easy coming up with my list of favorites for 2007. It's been such a year! A year jam packed with discoveries of products, services and websites that inspired, impressed and delivered beyond my expectations.
In fact, I hold Mommies With Style and all these products at least partially responsible for my current pregnant state. All of these things make me happier than ever to be a mom. Here they are, in no particular order:
The Quinny Buzz Stroller & Let's Go Strolling:
In my review of the Quinny Buzz I proclaimed that the "stroller made me do it". It was the last product I reviewed before I became pregnant, a fact that did not seem so coincidental at the time.
There's so much to love about the Quinny Buzz. I was of course impressed by smooth and easy push of this techno marvel, but it was the bright cheerful colors and squishy neoprene upholstery that had me at hello. This stroller also has a posh back-saving hydraulic system that allows it to unfold automatically, it's like having valet service each and every time you get it out of the car. The matching Dreami bassinet is lined with cozy color coordinated terry cloth and is sure to inspire much envy and admiration. Celebrities who own this stroller include Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gwen Stefani, Jenna Elfman, Mariska Hargitay and Heidi Klum.
For me, it's impossible to even think about strollers, without thinking of Let's Go Strolling. Any time I have a question about strollers in general or one in particular, I know I can turn to Melissa and Jo for advice. They never fail to impress me with their encyclopedic knowledge and dedication on this oft confusing topic. After meeting the pair at the ABC kids show, and watching them in action I can see why! They really care about their customers and love what they do and it shows.
MWS special: Shop before 1/15/08 and save 10% on strollers with code MWS0810 and 15% on diaper bags and accessories with code MWS0815. Please note that certain manufacturers are excluded from this offer.
Aden & Anais Blankets:
Earlier in 2007 I wrote a review of Aden and Anais' muslin swaddling blankets, and then more recently I reviewed their Dream Blankets. I rarely find myself gushing about a baby blanket, but these are the exception. And here I go, raving again about Aden and Anais. This company took off like a rocket in 2007, with their designs sweeping across Hollywood (it's hard to find a celeb who is not a fan) and across stores throughout the USA. The swaddling blankets are just the right size, weight and weft for swaddling a baby withour fear of overheating. Their soft cottony simplicity is just addictive. Their new dream blankets are the perfect size for toddler cuddle time. Multiple layers of puffy muslin keep kids perfectly warm and cozy, but never sweaty. I just can't get enough of these blankets, and can't wait to use them with my new baby.
MWS Special: Save $5 on your order when you enter the coupon code RJ001.
The Ubi Baby Changing Table:
Noone likes changing dirty diapers. Including moi. So whenI stumbled onto Ubi Baby's uber-mod and groovy portable changing station and found myself sort of looking forward to doing the deed, I knew I was onto something big. The genius here is that there is a pop up diaper dispenser built right into the changer. No need to turn away from the squirmy baby and dig around for a loose diaper. It's already right there where you need it. The actual design of the table is gorgeous and would flatter any mod nursery. It's also supremely practical with it's ergonomic and wipe clean surface. The Ubi Baby Changing Table is even cool enough looking to leave out in the living room, which is where I expect to keep ours. Read my review of the Ubi Baby Changing Table here.
The Deglingos:
I used to suffer from stuffie malaise. Shelves full of narcolepsy inducing bears and sheep had me fantasizing about kidnapping the beasts and embarking on covert midnight goodwill drop-off runs. Bad Mommy! But then I discovered the Deglingos. This line of adorable stuffed toys has personality to spare. You can read my review of the Deglingos here. We adore Big Bos the Wolf, and I have a hankering to order a porcupine and a rat for me errrr... my son. Yeah, it's for him. These animals are crafted to the highest safety standards and have the quality crafted feel of a special heirloom toy. Shop at Oompa Toys for a comprehensive selection of the Deglingos.
Tiny Revolutionary:
My son contributes his voice to this pick, as after repeated washings and wearings, the Tiny Revolutionary tees I reviewed last spring, are still amongst his favorites. The blanks that Tiny Revolutionary prints on are some of the softest and nicest out there. And their messages of tolerance, kindness and earth friendly practices are inspirational to both parents and kids. My Russian born daughter and I are in love with their "Chosen Child" adoption tees. This design has been a hit with celeb adoptees as well. Sheryl Crow and Angelina Jolie have these tees for their chosen children. I'm also looking forward to reviewing their new Jewish themed "I survived the bris" tee (though not looking forward to the actual process!!) in 2008.

Nature's Baby Organics:
There came a time early in my pregnancy, when any smell at all would trigger waves of woozy and nauseous. Any smell, except the addictively soothing tangerine vanilla smell of Nature's Baby Organics products. I had a small sample to try on my kids but I admit, I hogged it all to myself. It was too yummy to share. Eventually I got some more of their products and before long, the whole family was hooked. All of their products are extremely pure, gentle and work wonderfully without drying skin or exposing your children to potentially hazardous compounds. Created by a mom for her own kids, this stuff is now a staple in our shower. My top product picks from the line include the shampoo and conditioner and the Organic Soothing Stick that works on everything from chapped lips to minor scrapes. Nicole Richie recently selected their products as a favorite and helped arrange for the company to donate their products to moms in need at the LA free Clinic. For more information about the line, see my review of Nature's Baby products.

The Little Stork
I'm a little proud to say that I have something in common with Gwen Stefani and Brooke Shields. It's not my talent for singing or acting. It's my prepacked delivery bag from The Little Stork that I will be taking with me to the hospital when I go into labor. For an ocd gal like me, this bag is a dream come true. In the past I have spent weeks assembling all the right "stuff" for this important journey. I ran around like a chicken without a head finding everything I needed and spent a fortune. And still I forgot something. These bags are the ultimate shower gift and are an absolute lifesaver for moms on bedrest. There is a certain peace of mind that comes with a well packed bag. It's not a task I'd trust to just anyone, but The Little Stork has outdone themselves, thinking of everything from hairbands for you, to a toiletries kit for your partner. See my review of The Little Stork for more info and details about what's in the bag.

Sakura Bloom Silk Slings:
When it came to slinging my children prior to writing for Mommies With Style, I completely missed the boat. I only began slinging my then 2 year old son, in 2007. Oh how I regretted not starting sooner! Even more so after seeing the utterly beautiful silk ring slings created by Sakura Bloom. The colors! The textiles! See my review of Sakura Blooms slings here. This was not just babywearing. It was couture baby wearing. At first I was worried that the slings would not hold up well, but they wash up like a dream, getting softer each time. Slings like this are not a necessity perhaps, but they are a real treat that both mother and child will cherish. You'll want to wear your child in one of these every day. My one regret now? When my son got too large, I lent my sling to a neighbor. And she liked it so much she has not offerred it back!
Zid Zid:
This Moroccan line of childrens toys, clothing, and furniture cast a spell on me. From the instant I saw their lion pillow, I was completely enchanted. Everything that Zid Zid makes is a little magical. As if you might see the fairy dust in the seams should you look real closely. From their poofs and low tables, to their stuffed animals, this is kid stuff so hip you will be tempted to co-opt it as cool decor for your living room. This stuff is never a problem when it gets left out. I'm partial to their silver poufs, their animal shaped pillows and their sequin embellished slippers, but quite honestly there is nothing in the Zid Zid catalog that I do not want to possess. Almost a year after finding them, their unique blend of artistry and alchemy endures and I remain charmed. Read my review of select Zid Zid Kids items here. Design Public sells a broad selection of their products.
Paul Frank products and My Little Ducks
If there is one single thing I did not review in 2007, that I truly should have, it's Paul Frank clothing items. Because despite what the Chinese calendar might argue, 2007 was the Year of the Monkey in our home. Everyone from my 11 yr old daughter to my 3 yr old son was loco for Julius the monkey and we collected Julius themed tees and accessories like crazy. My son even proclaimed that he himself was a monkey, and refused to wear any tee without Julius for nearly a month. So despite my lack of review, Paul Frank stuff had to be included on my pick list.
And because we go there for all our Paul Frank needs, I must also include My Little Ducks. My Little Ducks has an amazing assortment of clothing for boys infant through size 12 - not just Paul Frank, though these remain our faves. The online shop has recently added a "tomboy" section to the site to include tees and accessories for hip little girls who are not all that into frou frou. This is big news to my daughters, who now know to look up the site on their own to check for tees from Paul Frank, Junk Food, Ed Hardy and more. I'm in big trouble now!

Total high-fashion celeb style, hats are hot this season. Not only do they keep heads warm, but wear the right one and your head will be head-turning.
Even cuter than a hat on you, of course, is a hat on a child. And how hot are these caps by Born to Love Clothing? Available in sizes 6 months through 7T, find your favorite visor beanie for keeping the heat inside. Available in fabrics to match many-a-coat, my favorites are the argyle prints. My hat and hoodie lover can't take his off--a good thing as the weather continues to get colder. I'm biased, he happens to look adorable in it and he's benefiting from covered ears and head.

I am among the more “well endowed.” I love the look of wrap shirts and V-necks which flatter me, except when they are gaping open and offering up a bit too much cleavage. This is especially a problem because Mia loves to hold on to one side of my shirt and pull when being carried. I have tried the double sided tape but its useless when going up against my 15 month old daughter. I have tried in vain to safety pin myself in the efforts to be just a bit more modest. I have to tell you, I am very inept at this task. While I am able to cover up, a tiny silver bar joining the opening of my shirt is not so attractive. I recently discovered the Bosom Button. A fashionable pin to hold together my shirt that is not meant to be hidden. The Bosom Button is a small Swavorski crystal or pearl that you can pierce through your clothing and fasten with a clasp at the back. It can also be used to keep sarongs, wraps, etc in place.
Each Bosom Button is 8mm in diameter , retails for $12 and comes in 10 colors. You can get a set of 3 for $25. Through February 1st, Bosom Button is offering 20% of your purchase. Use code MWS07.

A couple more hot ones for the season that I've either seen or taken note of include:
Arctic Tale (done by the same folks who did March for the Penguins), which is along the same lines as the all-play family movie as it's a documentary. It's narrated by Queen Latifah and it follows the lives of a polar bear and a walrus in the arctic. It may be a little slow for the under-5 crowd but it has it's compelling moments even for them and it's definitely educational.
Randomly, I got Stardust. I had read the book awhile back so I should have known it wasn't "family" as it's labeled. Nonetheless, it's a totally entertaining movie that's fun for the over 13 crowd (adults too) that I thought worthy of a mention as my husband and I were definitely entertained. (And it's one of those movies that's actually not half-bad when compared to the book). It has a good cast which includes Michelle Pfeffier, Robert DeNiro, Claire Danes and Sienna Miller.
So another one is MeerKat Manor. I started Tivoing it recently in preperation of the whole writers' strike/lack of new TV shows for my husband and I. We've only watched one episode but I'm already hooked - the documentary/series follows a family of meerkats in South Africa. They all have names. It's a good show for all ages and makes a good Christmas gift.

It's a tough lesson that every new parent learns. There are two kinds of bibs out there. The cute decorative ones that don't work - thus causing your child's special outfit to be wrecked, and the ones that work, saving the suit but wrecking the whole look with their cheezy slogans or awful colors.
Silly Billyz bibs toe the line between form and function. Their bibs are basic in appearance (solid colors) and come in a range of colors and styles to suit every type of drooler and messmaker. They won't wreck your look. And perhaps most importantly, they won't allow clothes to be wrecked. They have that perfect combo of absorbant front and waterproof back that keeps kids dry, clean and comfy. The bibs are pvc, vinyl and pthalate free, and no worries about lead. They also wash up really well.
I actually subjected this product to unusually tough testing. I have a friend with a special needs daughter who has a tracheotomy. Because of this, she constantly drools. She is not a toddler anymore and finding a bib for her to wear that is not embaressingly juvenile, or utterly useless, is a real challenge. Despite her disabilities, she still likes to look nice. She wears bibs 24/7 and washes them daily, so they need to perform. Her mom was truly impressed with the quality, function and looks of this product.
I was impressed with Silly Billyz' commitment to making an excellent and functional product and how excited they were to talk with my friend and get her input on their bibs. It is clear that they are a small company that cares about their products and all the people who use them.
Check out the assortment of bibs, including biblets, pocket bibs, and long sleeved bibs on the Silly Billyz website. Mommies with Style get free shipping when you enter the code FREESHIP.
I love you to infinity!! Love is an indescribable feeling, something that can't be valued quantitatively. But for children not having a true definition or something to compare love to can be confusing.
Laura Duksta (author) and Karen Keesler (illustrator) created a treasury in I Love You More, a story that compares love to immeasurable, but identifiable objects. Along vibrant images, a mother tells her child of her love for him, as only a mother could: "I love you brighter than the brightest star ever shown."
But when the Mom's details are completed, and tears are falling down the reader's cheeks, knowing that the descriptions of the Mom's love is completely right on, its time to reveal that the story isn't over. Flip the book, and start again. This time, when the mother question's her child's love, the child ansewrs in ways that describe love through a little one's mind: "I love you more than the furthest frog ever leaped."
With dozens more explanations of absolute love, reading I Love You More fills one's hearts and imaginations with the ultimate: LOVE. With a 5-star Amazon rating, this beautiful and real book becomes a treasure on the bookshelves of children of all ages: 0-100.
I'm down to the last couple of weeks in my pregnancy. We just found out that my baby is breech and if she doesn't turn, I will have a c-section on December 31st.
But if my baby turns, I plan on wearing BINSI's Labor and Birth Apparel during the last phases of labor and delivery. When contractions get to be too much and I'm sweating my tuchos off, wearing BINSI's Go Go Top ($38) and Prima Mama Skirt ($55) will make me comfortable (and preserve what's left of my dignity/modesty). And if I end up having a c-section, I will be wearing the Go Go Top and Prima Mama Skirt afterwards for comfort reasons. Either way, its already packed in my bag!
BINSI's birth apparel was created by Carri Grimditch of Boulder, Colorado, in 2005. She's a mom of three, and is also a doula.
Carri's business partner, Kim Taylor was kind enough to send me the Go Go Top and the Prima MamaSkirt (and made sure they would fit my 9+ preggo body). And I LOVE them.
I have been wearing the Go Go Top as a sleep bra for the last few weeks and adore it. You can easily use it after your baby's birth as a comfortable nursing bra - just unhook the straps. It is so comfortable - love the soft cotton. It's available in black mystery or cream epiphany, but only the black is available on the BINSI site right now. It won't get in the way while you are in labor - specific features include: side snaps, two front hooks - so you can get that skin on skin contact and/or breastfeed as soon as possible.
The Prima Mama Skirt is a comfortable cotton adjustable drawstring skirt features: -Side slits for movement -Bend, sit,or squat as needed without an ounce of extra material to get in the way! -Under-belly fit. Made for monitoring and stays off sensitive skin during contractions. -Front snaps allow for a better fit and ease when removed. You can get the skirt in black eclipse, navy moon, purple elara and lavender venus and also comes with 8 colored beads that you can string on yourself. Blue stands for intuition, red for confidence and courage, lavender for love and beauty and green for life. Good for focusing during labor.
Celebrity moms also love BINSI. BINSI Apparel was gifted to Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Garner, Brooke Shields, and Melissa Joan Hart (during her pregnancy with son Mason).
