A tribute to my Kate Spade wallet that has seen better days after today

So after decades of carrying all sorts of bags, I finally find the perfect wallet. I was looking for something that zipped closed (my last wallet was constantly "leaking" change into the bottom of my diaper bag.)

I found what I wanted and more in this Kate Spade wallet (officially called the "vachetta clinton street neda" - I challenge you to say that 10 times fast without tripping up). Not only does it have a separate change section in the middle of the wallet that zips closed, but the entire wallet zips closed around everything. And I love the organization of it all: 12 credit card slots and two sections for bills.

So I found it at Macy's but you can order it online on the Kate Spade site. Of course, the reason I even thought to blog about this today is that I left one of Cole's bottles upside down in my diaper bag awhile I was in class at the gym this morning. So an hour later after I returned to my locker, I found it had leaked all over the bag, the wallet and all of Nate's swim clothes -- the poor kid now smells like soy milk and chlorine. Oh well, one of only many Mommy casualties I've had along the way. (Fingers crossed it dries out okay!)

No Shoes Required with Jazzy Toes Socks

jazzytoes.jpgBaby foot fetish alert! If you find yourself helpless when confronted with cute products for itty bitty baby feet, go throw your wallet in the freezer to cool off right now. Otherwise read on.

I just discovered these socks that look like shoes by Jazzy Toes. I've seen this concept done in socks and booties for girls before but haven't seen as many cute styles for little boys. These socks are particularly well executed. I'm loving the variety pack of all six styles. It's a like a whole little instant foot wardrobe. So when Leo is wearing his Eco friendly tees, I have some birken-socks for him, and when he is flying high in fancy pants, I've got some stretchy knit wingtips. And when he is just lounging around, kickin it with his peeps - we have the soft cotton loafer look to to complete his ensemble. Sneakers, deck shoes, and cowboy boots round out the collection.

Jazzy Toes makes a girly variety pack as well, so don't get your knee hi's in a twist if you only have daughters to dress.

Sold in irresistible sets of six, these super baby socks get two big toes up from my mini product tester. Get yours at the Jazzy Toes site.

Toasty, Dry Toes. Thank you Kamik!

For so long now I've been one of those moms walking around with drenched feet--totally wet in the rain. Jumping puddles, I've learned, is only fun when you aren't wearing canvas or leather.

Sure, I looked at rain boots. Actually, for 2 years I've looked at rainboots. And each year as they got cuter and more fun, I craved them a little bit more. But I still wondered: Is it worth it? Will I really use them?

So, as you may have heard, it poured yesterday. And the first part of it, my cute shoes were quickly soaked; my socks and toes were quickly freezing. As my 2 year old jumped and splashed in puddles, I got shivers and reached for tissues. Returning to my home for dry socks, I remembered my new Kamik Rain Boots. Sitting so pretty in my closet. Dry. Clean. Warm. Time to try them out.

Oh. Wow. I can't believe I didn't have this trend on my toes before today. Wes and I spent a while splashing and jumping in puddles together as the day continued. My feet stayed dry, my socks and toes warm and comfortable. Kamik's rubber boots come in trendy patterns and many versatile colors. They get attention--becuase they look smart. Really. I was probably the only mom at Trader Joes with dry toes.

And they're reasonably priced. Rainboots can be prices, but at Zappos, Kamik's retail for under $60 (free shipping, free returns.) Totally worth the toasty toes on the next rainy day. Check out Kamik's site for the full collection and see where else they're available.

They only come in half sizes, definitely order a size up. This is the first time I've ever been a size 7--and they're perfect. A 6 would be way small.

Another great Mother's Day Gift, how cute to get a Mother/Daughter set? Many of the patterns for Moms are also available for little girls (available in solid colors for boys, too.)

Beautiful modern yet traditional stationary

I’ll be the first to admit I am terrible at writing thank you notes. Don’t get me wrong, I am very gracious and appreciative when I receive gifts and thank the person immediately. However, when a hand-written thank you is in order, it always takes a while for me to get a note out. Call it unappreciative, lazy or whatever you want…but is there anyone out there who loves writing thank you notes? (Call me if you are – you can write mine)!

sill1.jpgSo when I came across the line of stylish stationary products from Etsy storefront Sarah + Abraham, I thought maybe having gorgeous notes to write on, might help a bit! Designer Sarah Tams creates modern yet traditional personalized note cards, prints, invitations, postcards and stickers. The line features unique silhouette images that are just beautiful and breathtaking. I especially like the personalized stickers where you can select a particular color and silhouette image. They are great for thank you stickers on party favors for guests, return address labels or a pretty way to seal up an envelope! The personalized flat and fold over note cards are also completely customizable - you choose the design(s), color(s), and format. I love that you can have each of your children represented with a beautiful silhouette! Think of how easy it will make thank you note writing to the same person from all of your children!

superhero1.JPGAnother unique style of note cards is the Superhero style which is perfect for kids. They are so adorable! Who wouldn’t love writing on these fun cards that feature an initial inside the shape and choice of colors? Need a gift for Mother’s Day or a teacher’s gift? Check out the Monogrammed note cards perfect for gift giving.

No matter which style of stationary you choose, you will love writing on it! Mention "Mommies With Style" in the Comments to Seller section at checkout to receive a free gift with purchase - a set of 4 note cards of your choice.

Catch this Pop Fly!

"Mom? Can you turn up the music?" "Mom, I want number 4" ..."Can you play Pop Fly again?" ... "Hey Dad, I want SUPER KID!!"

This was the depth of conversation we had in our car yesterday. After listening to Justin Robert's new CD Pop Fly for two weeks (it was released on the 17th) my children have memorized the tracks and the words, and are now selecting favorites. In the end, its easier just to play the CD through, because eventually they'll listen to every song, each time.

For those who haven't heard Justin Roberts' so fun music (I was one of you until I got this one), his mix of music genres ventures from folksy to beachy to fun rock and roll. So easy to dance to, so fun to listen to and sing along. I find myself singing 'Pop Fly' at the top of my lungs. But when I was quiet today, I noticed that my four year old sings it just as well (okay... better). The words of Pop Fly, Roberts' 6th family album, are very elementary--as in elementary school. Each song tell a story of which kids of elementary age will surely relate. And the preschoolers and toddlers? No question they're loving it.

Listen to the tracks to get a preview--its easy to get addicted. I'll admit--I'm one of his newest fans. Justin Roberts' Pop Fly is fun fun music for kids and their parents. You'll soon be shouting out about catching a pop fly yourself.

Reese Li Diaper Bags Marry Practical with Chic

ReeselilexingtonbagYou spend your days with kids. Food is flung. Drinks are spilled. Diapers are changed. Lots and lots of diapers. And you are prepared, organized, and ready for action. Plus, your bag always looks great. Because it can be wiped clean. It's all about the bag. Having the right one for the job, is the key.

Right now I am using and loving this eminently wipeable Lexington Baby Bag from Reese Li, in the Black Geo pattern ($150). It's fresh, simple, fabulously mod and it looks great no matter what my darling offspring fling at it or spill on it. It's also incredibly organized -- a pocket lover's dream come true.

The Reese Li Lexington Baby Bag is 14'' wide x 11.5'' tall x 5.5'' deep. It stands on its own and retains it's boxy shape when you reach inside. It also stays clean on the bottom, since it rests on metal feet. The Lexington Baby Bag can be carried as a shoulder tote, using the adjustable straps, but I prefer it as a dedicated stroller bag. The straps feature clips that make attaching and detaching the bag a snap no matter what your stroller.

Reeselilextingtonbag2_2 Inside and out the Lexington Baby Bag has an impressive total of 12 organizing pockets that break down as follows: 2 outside side pockets for water or bottles, 1 outside slip pocket in back that fit a magazine or other papers, 6 inside multipurpose bottle/diaper/wipes pockets, 1 large zippered interior pocket for valuables, 1 cell phone pocket, and 1 pen pocket. There is also a key clip, a waterproof dirty duds zippered pouch and a changing pad that come with. The dirty duds pouch is clear -- a thoughtful touch because I actually like to see what is in there -- nothing worse that stashing and then rediscovering a dirty outfit two weeks later, is there?

The exterior and interior of the bag are waterproof, so leaks, spills etc are never a problem. It's also nice to know that this bag is sized just right for a computer. Because it is so durable that I am pretty sure it will outlive the baby days and I would not want to ditch it! All Reese Li bags are sweatshop free -- made in the USA.

The Reese Li Lexington Baby Bag hanging on my stroller made me feel like I was at the helm of mommy command central. Not only was I perfectly stocked, but I was perfectly organized. Which is a very good feeling when you have food being flung at you, drinks being spilled on you, and yet another diaper to change.

Baby Sparewear is There for You!

Sparewear_2It happens to the best babies. The public blowout, the sudden spit up, the mashed potato mess. And though you try and prepare yourself for the inevitable, it's easy to get caught out without a change of clothes. Even veteran diaper bag packers such as myself have been known to dress their poor soiled babies in little more than a paper napkin and rush home for a change. For shame!

The problem I had in the past was not having a designated disaster preparedness kit like the one that Baby Sparewear so excellently puts together. Sure I have been known to toss an extra tee in the bag, but then my husband uses it and I forget to check when I head out on the next trip and we all know this story has a baby wearing a paper napkin at the end, right? And do you like how I blamed my husband?

The Baby Sparewear kit ($30-$52) comes pre-packed in it's own handy little pouch. Inside you get two tops and a bottom. The clothing is soft and thin and the packed pouch is stylish, sleek and unbulky.Toss one of these in your diaper bag or stash one in your glove compartment and you are good to go. No more leaving the house unprepared. And just to be on the safe side around my stash-raiding hubby, I'm going to be sure to pack a spare Baby Sparewear set in the daddy bag. We currently have the Fashion Fix Cordura Chic set in sky blue ($52). My only concern about it is that the clothes are so soft and adorable that I find myself half hoping the baby will barf on himself so I can change him into them. A little twisted, no?

Several celebs are fans and users of Baby Sparewear. Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie have the Fashion Fix kit in Silver Nightlife ($42) with the chic black 3-piece set. Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony have the same Fashion Fix kits in the Cordura Chic sky blue tie-dye ($52) as well as the blush pink heart($52) for their twins. Salma Hayek is also well prepared for her jet-setting life with a Fashion Fix kit in pink and fuchsia ($42) for little Valentina.

For unlimited creativity: Stubby Pencil Studio

I could pick up a crayon or pencil and play all day. Totally therapeutic, I love the smooth feel of crayon across paper, creating visions and displaying messages.

When I first heard of Soy Crayons I wasn't too sure. I mean, soy? We were all raised on wax, right? So how could soy work as well? Then a friend shared Stubby Pencil Studio, and I (I mean, the kids) were turned on to a lot more than soy crayons. The crayons draw bright and smooth. And they last. We've had them for weeks and while the points have dulled, they haven't shrunk too much.

Stubby Pencil Studio also carries the most amazing scented "Smencils." In a word, YUM! Made from recycled newspapers, they are encased in a plastic casing--don't toss the casing. The gourmet casings are so delish you'll soon be craving Cotton Candy or Bubble Gum like never before. (I've also been told that a few sniffs of chocolate fulfilled a dieter's hunger--Weight Watcher's beware!) Also at Stubby Pencil Studio: eco-friendly pencils, colored pencils and novelty pencils.

Of course, you can use all of these fantastic, Earth-friendly products for any project, but since your'e ordering, check out Stubby Pencil Studios orignal artwork: notecards and personalized stationery. Printed on 100% recycled stock, the vivid images are completely chid friendly. My kids loved sending Nana a birthday greeting last week from the Color'n Kids Interactive Cards line--a card they colored and traced on their own. And the Wink 'n Curtsey Personalized line is adorable as well.

While shopping, check out the Gifts 'n Kits section. There are excellent play ideas there, including Made by Me kits that provided a great afternoon family activity for us a few weeks ago.

Enter bonus code MWS08 at checkout by clicking Questions, comments or BONUS CODE to receive a free set of 12 eco friendly colored pencils with any purchase ($5 value). (note - the coupon code goes in at checkout - on the review your payment page - on the left hand side there is a spot to click. It is easy to miss and they are working on a new e-commerce system that will actually be able to accept discount coupons. If anyone misses putting in the code, they can just email and Kate will include the pencils. No worries.)

Because these socks are a part of my my I have my period/I feel fat/I'm hungover/insert a reason to lay on the couch all day wardrobe. The reason why? Blossumz Soothing Gel Pads = Sweet Relief!

Blossumz016_2 Ahhhh....

This is the sound you will make when you discover and use Blossumz.

Engorgement, mastitis and sore nipples are just a few of the painful breast issues that we women face when our milk comes in after delivery and when we are breast feeding and weaning.

And let me tell you. The pain! It's all worth it of course, but it can be excruciating. And in many cases it can make you temporarily want to give up on breastfeeding all together. Don't give up yet! You may find that everyone has a suggestion for you - from tea bags to frozen peas to cabbage leaves. And you may get some relief from these things. But nothing like the relief you will get from Blossumz.

Placed in the freezer or warmed in the microwave, these handy gel packs are a girls best breast friend. They can be placed in your bra and come with cute fabric covers that keep the gel pack from sticking to you.

See the lady in the picture? If I had two of these I would look just like her (plus or minus a few pounds!). Since I only have one Blossumz I am walking around lopsided. But I don't care. It's worth it for the sweet relief of boob pain! My girls will just have to take turns.

The Latest from Medela, Keeps You in the Swing of Things

swingpump.gifThis past week I took my first trip since having my baby. At six weeks old there was no leaving him behind but I knew I was going to have to spend some time away from him, and that this would require some pumping. Which made it the perfect time to test my new Swing pump from Medela. Believe it or not, since leaving the hospital, I had not had occasion to pump. It was almost like pumping for the first time...again.

In the past, with my other babies, I used a dual electric (now eight years old!) pump that we can now safely refer to as "Ye Olde Electric Pump". This pump is actually quite effective, but so large and cumbersome as to have required its own reservation at the hotel. No way was I lugging that thing along. Alternatively my old handheld single was so slow and laborious to use, it was a severe handcramp waiting to happen. Plus it gave me an inferiority complex as I was never able to get more than a couple of ounces when I used it.

I was not sure how easy the Medela Swing would be for me to use. I barely had time to pack, let alone read the manual so I did like my husband does with new stuff and decided to wing it. I don't recommend this practice to others, You should always read your manuals fellow breast pumpers! But lucky for me the Medela Swing only has four button choices, and two of them are plus/minus signs to adjust the intensity. So I was not all that likely to lose an eye. It really was simple to figure out and I had no problem getting up to pumping speed.

Using the Medela Swing Pump I was pleased to find that it was as powerful as Ye Olde pump. Which was surprising since the Swing is barely bigger than my kids' yoyos. It looks a little like a yoyo too. You can wear it around your neck like big 'ol pendant, which makes pumping easier as well. One of my problems with pumping has always been my lack of four hands. I'm barely coordinated enough to breast feed, when I figure the baby is doing half the work. Holding onto a device, my boob and a breastshield all at once has always been slightly too much for me. So this necklace approach is genius.

The Medela Swing operates in two modes, using patented 2 Phase Expression technology designed to mimic the way babies feed naturally. The first phase is a let down mode and employs gentle, fast suction, and the second is a nursing mode that uses slower, longer and stronger pulses of suction. I'd like my baby to get a memo about this as he usually attacks my breast like a hungry Hoover on steroids. But for the record, the two phase action did a stellar job of painlessly emptying my breasts of their milk, faster and far easier than any other pumps I have used. Clearly my son has something to learn from those nice polite two-phase babies of the world. Note to Medela: if you want to make a pump that sucks like my baby you will have to sell one that only operates on the highest setting and bites me. I'm not sure anyone would buy that one though...

swingpump2.gif With the Medela Swing Pump I was able to pop the pump in my bag and pump virtually anywhere, anytime. The pump works with electricity or can be battery operated for use in the car. Can you imagine me pumping as I cruise down the I-5? Sorry for that visual. Don't worry or call the CHP, by the way -- I'd have a designated driver. I am pretty sure it is not safe to pump and drive.

The Medela Swing Pump worked so well for me on my little trip that I have kept it out and used it a few times since coming home. I'm working on a plan to store away enough milk to go away for a night without my little bundle of joy. A romantic night that involves me, my pillow and ten hrs of uninterrupted sleep. Well, except to spend a few moments Swinging that is. The Swing is the ideal partner for this sort of retreat -- it lets me get right back to sleep after a session!

If you are in the market for an occasional use pump I don't think you could go wrong with this one. As a side note, all the bottles and parts of Medela pumps are Bisphenol A free, something that should allow you to rest easy.

Albee Baby has the Medela Swing Pump on sale currently for $119.00.

Looking GORGEOUS in the kitchen

So you might have figured I'm into cooking. I've gotten lots of cool new tools, always find great recipes and love cookbooks. Besides a few foodie failures, the only real disappointment has been a few unnecessary spills... on my Mommy's so Stylish clothing. NOT good. So another kitchen product I'm beginning to collect is aprons. But, of course, this Mommy needs stylish aprons. And Earth-friendly is a huge bonus.

A few months ago, BaileyBea introduced an amazing assortment of aprons. With around 200 original and unique designs, they use gorgeous decorator fabric to create their assortment. Available in sizes for women and children, these aprons will make a spectacular surprise on Mothers' Day.

Wondering, though, just how they're Earth Friendly? I love this: the fabrics are salvaged. Nancy, the owner of BaileyBea, lives in Austin, not too far from the design district. She learned that a major furniture manufacturer in her area was tossing scraps. TOSSING them. Rather than letting them take up space in landfills, Nancy drove over several times and purchased the leftover fabric--sometimes reams of it. Of course, such gorgeous fabric needed to be put towards something gorgeous that we'd all enjoy.

And enjoy this! Nancy currently has the entire line of aprons on sale--up to 40% off. So these beautiful aprons are selling between $15 and $18, down from $25-30. And, perfect for Mother's Day, there are even a few that make a Mommy/Daughter pair. Cute!

At Stonyfield Farm Every Click Counts and Every Taste is YUM!

My son is a yo-a-holic. No kidding. He loves it. But he's picky. He only loves Stonyfield Farm's YoBaby Yogurt. There's something in the creamy, organic mix that makes him calm, makes him happy. At 2 and a half, you'd think he'd be past yogurt, really. Just how many days can a child eat Yogurt?! So, finally, I tried it. And, you know, he's right. Its creamy. Its yummy.

Wes started eating Yogurt around 9 months. But Stonyfield Farm recently introduced YoBaby Simply Plain. A yogurt approved for babies 6 months and older. Its meant to be an organic easy first food. FIRST food. An introduction to bigger, harder to swallow foods, Simply Plain acts as a transition between formula or breast milk to solids. Its totally healthy and naturally, and includes no sugars, colors or chemicals.

But Stonyfield didn't stop at 6 months. They now offer YoMommy! yogurts: for the Mom-to-Be. An organic, lowfat yogurt, YoMommy! helps pregnant women meet their nutritional needs. It also has an added bonus of DHA and probiotic cultures. I passed my coupon on to a pregnant friend to try out. She enjoyed the flavor and loved the health bonuses.

Try out any, or all, of Stonyfield's Yogurts. Enter your e-mail address to recieve coupons for the entire line: good at your local store.

Stonyfield is also working globally. They recently launched a donation program: click on the baby image here and Stonyfield will donate $ to the Environmental Working Group in its mission to keep harmful chemicals out of our food. You'll also be able to print a free guide to pesticides in produce: a pocket size guide listing 12 fruits and veggies with the most and least amount of pesticides.

Stonyfield will donate up to $20,000 for 20,000 clicks. So click and click and click!

You'll wow them with an Amy Kathryn bag on your shoulder

I have a confession to make: I'm so tired of the diaper bag thing. Four years later, and I'm so over it. I used to be like, "hey check me out - I'm a Mom!!"

Now I want to hide my caffeine hangover under a pair of big Jackie-O sunglasses and be in disguise when I'm out and about. (No, really, I just want to strip away the diapers, the bag, and run barefoot in the grass with only a wallet in my back pocket and a bottle of Pinot Grigio somewhere within reach.)

So shaking off that none of that is going to happen anytime soon, I've been turning towards very untraditional looking bags and diaper bags. For those of you looking to do the same, check out Amy Kathryn Bags. Jen has reviewed her bags before and I've recently been turned onto Amy's bags. I love the look and the style - they're totally different and fun. Plus they're both animal and eco-friendly.

Check out her stuff. And use coupon code MWS20 to receive 20% off your order plus free shipping.

Hat's On to Breastfeeding Moms with MoBoLeez Nursing Bonnets

Moboleez_kitty I thought I had seen it all when it came to nursing cover ups. Basically I thought there were only three varieties: the apron, the blanket/shawl and the poncho. But I was wrong! Because a very, very clever mom has come up with a whole new way to cover up when nursing your baby in public. You might even say that she came up with it right off the top of her head ... the MoBoleez is brilliant!

All kidding aside, when I saw this product I had to crack a great big giant grin. I never would have thought of using a wide brimmed hat to cover my breast while nursing but it makes perfect sense. And it works just perfectly. The reason it works so well is the careful way the hat is crafted. The super soft knit cotton brim is just wide enough, just stable enough and weighted just right to drape perfectly around your exposed breast. Even over my generously sized DD's. The baby's head is loosely covered and the brim sits away from his face so there is plenty of room to breathe. The logo on the outside is cute and simple and the message on the inside of the brim "hi mummy" is a sweet little for-your-eyes-only reminder that your baby loves you for taking such good care of him.

I love using this hat so much more than any of the blanket/poncho/apron style cover ups. It only covers the area that needs covering, and thus your baby is not smothered, you are not likely to overheat and you don't feel awkwardly draped. I never really got the hang of nursing with other cover ups and as a result, have inadvertently exposed myself more times then I could count, whilst breastfeeding over the years. Too bad for any curious lookie-loos who missed out on that sight! Much to the relief of my oldest daughter, and all thanks to MoBoleez, those days are over.

Note, I tested this product out while going over a quote for home improvements with my macho-dude, single and childless general contractor, a guy who really would rather not watch me breastfeed. This was a serious test! And no worries for any of us. I've now got a Moboleez hat tucked into my diaper bag and it is on my short list of fabulous shower presents.

So Cozy hair products for kids

So Cozy makes some fun and eco-friendly hair products. Everything here is are paraben free, recyclable and tear free. And the younger crowd will love the fun flavors that are kid-friendly like berry and apple.

Also worth noting is that they offer a lice away product. Apparently it repells lice, which isn't a bad product to have when you hear that someone in preschool has come down with a case of it. (yuck!)

Baby Bjorn's Eat and Play Smock, Plate and Soft Bib: Don't cry over spilled yogurt!

21zvw4jlwul__aa160_Last week, my toddler and I were at our Mommy & Me class, when they pulled out the green sparkly paint.  Since my laundry load has tripled with the new baby's arrival, I really didn't want to get another outfit dirty at 11am. I also didn't want to get paint all over his jacket, me or our car. So, I had come prepared with our new Baby Bjorn Eat and Play Smock ($25.95). Within seconds, my son was snapped in and fully covered.  Of course he got it dirty with the paint, but that's what smocks are for!  When we were finished, I whipped the smock off, folded it up inside out and sponged it off when got home (the washable paint came right out).  His hands were green, but his clothes were clean!  All the other parents looked at me enviously, as all their kids were covered in paint.  You can wash their hands, but to start wiping down clothes in school...not going to work.  I was impressed with how lightweight the smock's fabric is - I was expecting a heavy, plasticky bib type thing.  It covered from my son's arms to down to his mid-thighs. We can also use this smock for eating (great for when I serve spaghetti and meatballs) or for art projects. Since it was so big as well as durable, it will also work for him in nursery school next year. I also liked that the neckline protected his shirt collar. Since this smock will protect his clothes and save me some laundry duty - just color me happy!

Product_kitchenplate_2We also tested out Baby Bjorn's plate and spoon ($19.95 for a plate with two spoons), as well as their soft bib ($9.95). I loved the plate because it was kind of a bowl hybrid and very sturdy.  It stayed put on our table (and didn't move around as much as our other plastic plates). It worked well for everything from yogurt to waffles to matzoh ball soup.

Baby Bjorn designed it to be child friendly. The company said, "We added a rubber ring on the underside to stop it from sliding around. We made the plate a three-leaf clover shape with corners inside and edges that slope slightly inwards.  This made it easier to scoop food onto the spoon. We made the outer edges of the plate sloping, to make it harder for the child to bang it up and down or to throw it away." The plate is dishwasher and microwave safe. While I'll clean my son's plates and cups in our dishwasher, my rule is never to microwave my son's food in any plastic plate. My son has had a hard time making utensils work for him, so I was happy that the spoon's base was made of rubber and wider on the end, making it easier to grasp. The easier to grasp spoon also came in handy because he switches it between his hands (very common until age 3). I also liked the notch on the underside of the spoon, which stopped it from sliding down into the plate.  Which was great, because my son freaks out if his yogurt gets all over his spoon!

The soft bib was perfect for catching crumbs ( it has a deep pocket) and is very easy to clean. I could even put it in the dishwasher to clean -- but I found it easier to just rinse it in our sink and let it air dry. According to Baby Bjorn, "The neck is designed like a bead necklace with continuous fastening, so it can be individually adjusted to fit a child." It fits my 2 1/2 year old son perfectly and since he likes it, I will get another one to use with our almost 4 month old, when she starts cereal in 2 months. Or maybe at first, I'll try the Eat and Play Smock on her! Either way, will hopefully cut down on my laundry load!

Something little you can do for the Earth, while enjoying coffee and looking chic

Its amazing how often I toss a coffee cup. Each time I feel a ping of guilt. I've tried to remember to bring a clean, reusable mug, but I'd need 7 to make it through the week because, to be honest, I just don't have the hands to remember to bring the dirtied mug inside to clean each day. So, yes, I'm contributing to cardboard pollution each day.

However, I'm also doing a tiny part to help out the Earth while I sip my coffee. I recently purchased a few SQUEEZEs from Dizzle Pop at Etsy. Using fantastically fun fabrics, Gigi makes them to match your outfits, and keep your hands from burning. These cotton coffee-cup holders are lined with a soft fleece to keep your hands from the heat--so much chic-er and more protective than the cardboard ones. I love them for the style. So many people have complimented and asked me where to get them, I just knew I'd have to share it.

So, while I failed to use one of my many reusable travel coffee mugs at the coffee shop today, I am doing my tiny part. Because in addition to dressing my coffee to look cute, I'm keeping about 300 of those cardboard covers from being used and tossed each year. Lets do some math, if 300 people order, that's 90,000 cardboard covers that aren't being used and tossed each year.

They also come with a tiny pocket--perfect for a "frequency" card or a gift card--a great way to present a coffee shop gift certificate! Completely machine washable, you can get away with one.
