Mama Knows Breast and other books to help you breastfeed

World Breastfeeding Week, Day 6:

Where to start? Breastfeeding can be a very overwhelming experience. I know. I stopped up after two weeks with my first son. I was depressed from a bad delivery experience, tired & overwhelmed. I don't regret that I didn't breastfeed him as he's healthy and happy.

But I did have a rewarding and lasting breastfeeding relationship with my second son and I do believe it was because I was empowered with knowledge that I didn't have the first time around. I had a network of friends to support me, a pile of helpful products (see my reviews from this week!) and a couple of books to help me reference along the way. Here are two I found myself returning to often during my experience when I wanted to look something up (these books, and Kellymom.com, which I definitely also recommend):

Mama Knows Breast is a frank, beginners guide to breastfeeding that's an easy read with real life experience.

The Nursing Mother's Companion - my friend Jen recommended this one, it's a great reference guide. A no-nonsense straightforward guide from a lactation consultant with 25 years of experience of working with Moms.

What about you? If you're a breastfeeding mama, what did you use and what would you recommend? Leave us a comment.
