I'm Cuckoo for Cranky Pants

I've been trying to get a hold of a pair of Crankypants to review ever since the very first time I stumbled across them while surfing the web about a year ago. To be honest, I became a little obsessed with seeing them first hand. So much so that I literally chased down a mom at the Baby Celebration LA conference last spring. I saw a flash of monster tooth on her child's cute little butt and it was more exciting to me than a celebrity sighting. I had to get a closer look.

Read on to get the full scoop on these adorable pants and a chance to win your own!

crankymonster280.jpgI guess I made an impression on that mom, because when I spoke to designer/owner/brilliant-mom-with-creative-vision Amy Kett, she said "Oh yeah, I heard about you from my customer". Hmmm. It's a fine line though between product aficionado and product stalker. These pants might easily have pushed me over the edge!

As I type this, I am gratified to tell you that I have a pair of Crankypants in my hot little hands and guess what? They're worth the wait! They live up to the hype! They don't make me feel cranky at all. They make me feel quite happy actually. What could be more smile-worthy, than watching your little one wiggling away with a hand-knit, snaggle toothed monster adorning their bum?

Crankypants are knit from soft merino wool. They were previously only available in extremely limited quantities, due to the very sad fact that there were only so many pairs of pants that Amy could knit. I'm sure her fans have had fantasies about locking Amy up in the attic with the vague promise of ice cream rewards, or perhaps cloning her (instead of some silly wooly sheep). All so she could knit more and more Crankypants. Really, people, the woman has a kid of her own to care for! Fortunately the lockdown/cloning will not be necessary. Very soon Crankypants will be more readily available and Amy might even get a break. Although I doubt she'll rest for long. She's already cranking out some adorable matching monster bibs!

Amy has enlisted the help of other hand knitting moms living in South America, to assist her on her baby-cutification project. She searched far and wide, long and hard to arrange for a responsible and truly fair trade arrangement that could bring more of these pants to you. So you can not only feel good about getting a pair but also about knowing that the job of knitting these pants helps these other moms do something they love, and stay home with their families.

I waited a year for my close encounter with Crankypants but one of you won't have to wait that long. Mommies with Style has one pair of Crankypants to give away to a lucky reader. Just leave a comment below telling us your favorite "term of endearment" for your child when he/she is fussing (no obscenties please!) and you will be entered to win one pair of these beauties in a size 6/12 months, as modeled by my own Mr FussyMcFusserpants.

One lucky winner will be chosen at random on Friday the 12th of September.

Note: Please be sure to check your email in a timely fashion as we will move on to another address if there is no response in 72 hrs. And you'd be cranky to see you missed out!

Those are the most adorable pants!!

I always refer to my sweet baby as "amor," which is spanish for "love." However, when he is fussy, my tone changes.

The Crankmonster

ooh! Me! Me!

We call our toddler Cranky McCrankerton or Fussy Gus. Our daughter is Drama Princess.

Funny that you ask that. Mine is AnnaSmella Crankypants. Miss AnnaSmella Crankypants, to be precise.

She is accompanied by her brother, Grumpy Gus, and her sister, Demon Spawn - kidding!!!

"Miss CrankyMcCrankerson"

I just say 'Someone is not a happy camper' or 'oh it's angry at me!'.

This is going to sound lame, but I've always called my babies "Cranky pants" when they whine-- that is why the review caught my eye!

I love these!! It is so sad that they are all sold out.... hurry and make some more!!!

ONG!!! I myself have been stalking CrankyPants since the 1st time you mentioned them!!! I MUST HAVE THESE PANTS! I'm glad to hear she is closer to getting them produced! They'll be perfect for my son-to-be, aka fussybutt!!

We say Em is "puddling" when she is throwing a fit. She just turns into this, well, little puddle on the floor! Right about then it's time to get HER crankypants on :)

My favorite name for my daughter when she is fussy/cranky is just plain ole' crabby. I will often tell my hubby when he gets home, "She is all yours, she is way too cranky!".

I call him my little stinker. Or stinky pea.

Hee hee...my 'term of endearment' is similar to yours! I call Carolynn Cranky McCranks or Cranky Saurus Rex. I'd LOVE to have a pair of Crankypants! I found out about them on Diaperswappers & I think they are gorgeous! Amy's custom work is amazing as well!

voldemort!

I actually call my daugher Miss Crankypants when she fusses. LOL I think its a bit ironic because the name really does fit her and we have been dying to snag a pair of the pants for so long.

Our little Keely went through a tough second month with all sorts of gas issues before bedtime. When the night fell, she turned into a "Keely Monster" The name truly stuck after my sister babysat one evening. She said, with a smile, that we were being kind by calling her Keely Monster! Thankfully, she is doing much better now; hopefully in the future, we can change her nickname into Cookie Monster.

My 1.5 month old is named Jonas. When he cries/fusses we call it Johoney Boloney. I know. We're crazy clever.

Oh please enter me in the Cranky Pants giveaway!

Thanks, I love your blog!

We call my 2 1/2 yr old son "sass-a-frassy".

Oh goody...I love Cranky Pants too!

I call my son...."Houligan".

I would greatly appreciate being entered in the drawing. Thank you.

I heart crankypants!! My 7 mo old daughter doesn't fuss too much except when she's teething...so I confess I call her TOOTHASAURUS, RARRR! when she's fussing lately. :)

We mostly call the trouble our child gets into,

"Shananigans"....as in... no more Shananigans or else!

May I please be put into the giveaway? Thanks so much.

I would love to be part of our drawing for the Cranky Pants.

My wife and I call my son "LT" for Little Terror.

I love these pants!!! My little girl always seem to get a little fussy before dinner time. My husband and I have come to call her Miss Monsoon as this is the time when she does mostly of her crying.

Today it was Stinky Butt. And since she had a dirty diaper it was appropriate for both her stinky attitude and her pants.

I just got a pair for my toddler and YES they are amazing. Plus, Amy's customer service is great too. It's crazy how addicting they are.

My little man is nicknamed Mr. Penguin Pants when he get going. He still has that little newborn cry and he sounds like a little baby penguin. It's pretty cute;)

Hi! I use the term "Little Miss.Sunshine" when my daughter is having a meltdown ;)

My 7 week old DD Juli, grunts when she's fussy/hungry, so I call her Queen Grunty of Gruntyville!
Thanks for doing this!!
Alana

When my guy gets the fussies we call him a Crankpot. hehe

I often call DD "Tweeters" when she is having a rough time! She can be a Crankypants, but I still love her!

I always say, "Listen here Fussy bucket," whenever my little one is fussing. I would love to put my little fuss bucket into a pair of crankypants and turn that frown upside down!!

I am a knitter and love, love the cranky's please pick me!

We are huge Transformer fans here and my newest name for Sirius is "Bratimus Prime" (not to be confused with his older and gassier brother, "Fartimus Prime"), before that it was the rather bulkier "Sirius Orion brat baby" lol.

When my son is being a fussy man, we call him Mr. StinkyPants and when our daughter is IsabooBooWhoo.

I call my kids "sir cranky men"

My two favorite terms for my kids are "dollbaby" and "P.I.T.A." It's really funny when my little one gets mad and screams "dollbaby" like he's saying something really mean. And, Pita, you may be able to figure out what that stands for, but my kids don't know and when I tell them to stop being a Pita, they reply "I'm not" as if they know. It's pretty amusing to say the least.

I'm embarassed to say that I tell my now 3 year old (as well as his older brothers and once in a blue moon, their Dad as well).. 'Boy, aren't you being a cranky butt today'..lol..

i just call him "you little monster" and RAWR at him. :)

We call my 13 month old "Mr.Fussybritches" when he is fussing or whining and we call him a turkey when he is being goofy. LOVE those cranky pants, though!

Crabby Patty!

well, it's not very creative, but I actually call him Mr Crankypants... lol

We always used stinker or snot.

Yay! Crankypants! We call our little guy fussy butt. Original, i know.

I call my guy "Crabby Biscuit"! I don't know why, but we called our daughter that and now he gets it, too!

We aren't very original: we call DS "Fusser" when he's fussy/cranky.

Haha! Favorites in our house are stinky butt and butt-butt, but I've also been known to call my kids twits when they're really getting on my nerves.

my name for my child when being cranky is brattykin lamb or brattyboyboggs (my last name is boggs)or bratsky boysky.....really he's just my brat!!! lol

I call my little guy monkey butt when he gets fussy. he starts to climb and cling to every thing..just like a monkey. how nice of you to do this giveaway!

Our sure fire term of endearment for my youngest daughter are reading from her favorite book, or even reciting "Good Night Moon". Now my oldest , hmm still trying to figure that one out lol, no she loves singing.

I call my little guy a "crabby patty" when he is fussing. His 5 year old sister loves Spongebob so I hear that name come up quite often. It makes her giggle and me too whenever I say it. Then he stops fussing because we are giggling and he smiles so it works out well :)

Our favorite term of endearment is the one we use for our 6 yo daughter. It is "Chahisser". That name arose when she was a newborn and I was reading Miss Spider's New Car. My dh overheard me making the different sounds, one of them "Chahiss" and that's how it started.

My first 3 sons - NEVER fussed but Son # 4 Came out Crying - He is the Crankiest Baby I have ever met and we tell him he is being a "Stinkerstein" or a "Crankerpotomous"

For my oldest who is 2 1/2 we call him "turd bucket". Sometimes he goes by "fussy butt". Our youngest who is 3 months goes by "Sir CrankyPants.".

I call my kids "Sugar Booger"...because even when they're being boogers, they're still sweet!

I call my kids "Sugar Booger"...because even when they're being boogers, they're still sweet!

"Mr. Beastie Baby"... Although I still haven't given birth to him yet. But I already know that he is a beastly baby for sure-- he (lovingly, mind you) ruined my holiday in Belize with morning sickness.

I call my kids Grumpybuns when they're in a bad mood. It lightens the tone a little and helps me remember they're just babies.

We call our dear son an angry little elf (think "Elf")

TOE for the LO during those cranky times...
Duncan = Dunkie Monkey

Little Miss Screams-a-lot

I call my kids fuddledud or sourpuss :)

Whenever she's being fussy or whiney, we call her "Sweet Budgie Boo". My husband and I started calling each other Budgie Boo long before the baby was born and we've simply carried over the "love".

Ironically even before I knew of cranky pants we've always called my fussy little one either cranky pants or cranky britches. :)

I actually call my little buddha "crankypants," or I tell him to "stop being such a baby." Mind you, he's only 5 1/2 months old!! :-D

Any fussy person in our house is called "Grumpybuns".

I call my little one "Crab Butt" when she is being fussy!

We call our middle (2) Bubby guy.. We always have.. Went you call him by his given name he will always tell you " NO! im Bubby guy!" So we call him it all the time cranky or not

We call my 6 month old 'crabby-patty' because her big brothers love to watch SpongeBob.

We call them poopers... because they're being party poopers.

When my children are cranky we refer to them as Fussy McFussersons or in cases of temper tantrums...emotional terrorists. :D

Well...my son is "Bear". Always, actually. ;) When he is a fuss pot, even from the time he was *small* he would growl. Really! So when he is being "cranky" he's my "grizzly bear", or sometimes just "griz".
Amy knows quite well that I won't stop stalking her until I have some crankypants...so, do you think the promise of ice cream in the attic will really work? ROFL!!

My "term of endearment" for my kiddos is/has always been lil' man/woman. I dunno why, but even my eight year old gets a snuggle and lil man/woman card when upset. They love being snuggled.

This is too awesome! I call my girls crankybutts and fussbuckets whenever they are fussing.

Grumpers.

Senorita Fussypants!pancake

Thanks!

I don't know how this started, but we call our son Turkey Butt when he is cranky!

I literally call her "Crabby Baby"

OMG! Id give half my wahm wares for one of these! OOOH Id DIE if I won!!

Well, we have many nicknames for our little high-needs girl when she is being less sugar and more spice, lol, but I'll stick to one. The easiest way to tell if she's been "testing us" more than usual (I have that on a onesie--"Nothing's wrong--just testing you!"), is that instead of talking about what Chloe did today, we talk about what The Chloe did today. She's not baby Chloe anymore, she's The Chloe, who is a fearsome creature with mighty vocal powers, lol.

Emmyness Fussyness!

Crabbers :)

We love crankypants! When my little man is being cranky, I usually call him smooshy face. His face gets all smooshy when he's mad :)
Thanks!
Jessica

My child is NEVER fussy, so it's not an issue.

YEAH RIGHT! Mr. Cranky is actually what we call him.

When our little darling was being... um... difficult, especially in those early months when the fussing can go on and on... we used to call him "bag of rats". Sometimes sung to a variation of the "Toys R Us" jingle.

He still has "bag of rats" moments, but hey, he's our bag of rats. :-)

I call my son "muffin" so often that I wonder if he knows his real name!

crankaralla is what I call my daughter when she is fussy.

DD has been known as Monster ever since the first time my DH took care of her ON HIS OWN about a week after she was born. She just cried and cried... :-) Now everybody, extended family included, calls her Monster more than her real name.

Ms. Fussbucket

Our personal fave is "smoopsiewhoopsiepoopsieoopsie" - by the time we say it, my dd is all smiles.

My favorite term of endearment for my daughter when she is fussy is "the beast."

Terrifying Turkey Butt :D

Gooby Von Booby

When my newest little one, Marlee, came into our lives she was one big ol' baby! Since then, I have officially dubbed her my Chunk a Dunk. :D

I always call my little guy my little crabby cake!

we would love to win our own pair of crankypants!!

we often call our little guy crabby patty! but bath time usually perks him back up. because when they are crabby you put them in water! ;)

I call my little girl a fussbucketer, lol!

I've always wanted to try a pair of crankypants, but always seem to miss the stockings :( I call my daughter miss crankybottom when she's being a huge fuss monster..lol

I've always wanted to try a pair of crankypants, but always seem to miss the stockings :( I call my daughter miss crankybottom when she's being a huge fuss monster..lol

My adorable DD is rarely fussy ;) but when she is, I sometimes call her a "crankster" or just "grumpy girl".

I love these Crankypants - Amy is amazingly talented!

My favorite term of endearment for my fussy ones is Farfignoogen.

Having all 4 with reflux, I have had a lot of time to perfect this term appropriately. ;)

Its so funny because little boys were always Mr. Crabby Pants whenever they were "cranky"! I'd love to have some cranky pants for my Crabby (and happy) Pants!

We call my 4 yr old "stinky booty" when he is being a litlle "stinker".

When my LO is up set I call her grumpy bum. So I think these Crankypants would look splendid over her grumpybum!!!

I thought it was so clever for her to name the pants this! I found out about them after ds was born and after we had already been calling him Captain Crankypants when he was grumpy (he was quite the fussy baby but it wasn't his fault- he had digestive issues :O( )! Yeah for a contest!! I'm so hoping we win- we would love some cranky's here!!!

Grumplestiltskin

When my son is being a fuss...we either call him "baby butt"--as he is normally doing it being a butt, or my significant other calls him "butt face", as he also has a face he makes specifically when he is whining for something!

I, too, have been lusting after a pair of Crankies for a while.

There are so many little nicknames I call him - fussybutt being one of my favourites.

What fun!
AddyBug! ;)

I call him Peanut :)

Pee Pee Face

we call me 5 month old son Leif Sir Fussington when he's feeling crabby!!

Love these pants! We call our guy our little precious punkin. Or bubby....or monkey mook....so many to name!!!

i call my little one stinkyface. She screws her little face up into big tight frown, and that's just what popped into my head. So now she's "stinkface"

When our son Greyden gets cranky we call him...The Fusser or sometimes Fussy McFarly. Very original pants, they're so cute!!

ooooh, I love crankypants too. don't have any, but love looking at other mama's crankys.

How adorable!

DS gets called "monster" which has now lived up to by grabbing me by the hair and eating my face. Those would be so appropriate for him.

I call my girl "The Goo" It fits her since she melts when she mad and turns completly boneless!

I call my little cranky babe, "Mr. Grump-a-lump"

We call our son "Mr. fussbucket" Thank Goodness he is a wonderful baby, so we don't have to call him that very often!

OOO, how about seniorita cries a lot?

Ever since she was a newborn we have called our daughter "cranky tanky" because she is built so solidly and could have such a cranky time in the evenings.

Fussy Fusserton. :)

I call my little on Fussy McFussertin. Or Fussy Butt. Or Cranky Man. He is high needs and fussy a lot:) so we have lots of names! Hehe!

One daughter is labeled as Sophie Fussbucket, and the other, Helena Hellraiser.

My husband always tells Helena he's going to make a Garbage Pail Kid with her name on it. But I guess that really shows our age...

"Anna, my pretty little sweet, fussy, toasty bug!"

My DD's fussy name is "my little pill".

I love to call my little guy, Crank-a-ma-box or Dh's favorite Ponceroy del whinington :o)

We call our little ones "fussybutts" when they are super fussy. :)

My family's origin is hungarian descended so we lovingly call our son, our little "dupa" when he is being extremely grouchy and cranky. Since "dupa" is slang for butt, it has a two-fold meaning. Whenever we change his pants we always refer to his bum as his dupa and when he gets extremely fussy, he is our "Baby Dupa"!

My oldest son is Turd Bucket when he's crabby. Dunno why, it just came out of either me or DH one day and it stuck! My youngest is Fuss Muffin. Cuter name, but not as funny. :P

We call our little ones a variety of things.. Fussbutt... stinkerbum... naughty nanners ...... I know theres more but thats what I can think of now lol.

We call him bubbybaloo or mister pister when he's cranky. Hee hee!

When my little one is fussy I switch back and forth between stinkerpot and fussy boy.

I call my DD sassafrass and DS sasspot :)

When my son was a week old my husband christened him Captain Tiny (this is his "nickname"). When he's fussing though he gets a demotion and becomes "Lieutenant Lower-lip".

:)

When my little one gets upset, we generally call him hissyfit.

He used to be "Mister Grouchy Bottom" but since I'm a big fan of shortening things, it's usually just "Mister" :)

When our 7 month old, Luke, is a little cranky we like to sing a little song that goes something like:
Lukey loo, fussy poo, please please don't be blue cuz I love you Lukey loo. Gets him smiling most of the time!

Senor Crabby-Pantalones... I have no idea how crabby-pants became pantalones (I don't really even speak Spanish) but the senor seemed appropriate after that :)

oldest daughter crankers, oldest son(3) fussy monster or fuss face same for my younger son(2) and my baby girl (4months)we just call her silly goose when she gets cranky :)

We call our little cranky guy "Grumpy Man".

Please enter us in the Crankypants drawing! TY

we call my baby monkey.

A few of my favs:
Mr. Mad-madigans
FusserButtons
Grumper Butt

Thanks!

Just one? Well we call him Mr. Crankypants for sure...Mr. Fussybutt. Crankyhead. I think it's whatever comes up. Oh, Mr. McCrankster...love that one.

I always try to remember to call my daughter "Miss Viola Swamp" (from Miss Nelson is Missing)...

When my son is grumpy, we call him Crabby Crabcake. LOL I even got him a shirt that says "Crabby, but cute"

This is so generous of you, thank you!
