This is the sound you will make when you discover and use Blossumz.
Engorgement, mastitis and sore nipples are just a few of the painful breast issues that we women face when our milk comes in after delivery and when we are breast feeding and weaning.
And let me tell you. The pain! It's all worth it of course, but it can be excruciating. And in many cases it can make you temporarily want to give up on breastfeeding all together. Don't give up yet! You may find that everyone has a suggestion for you - from tea bags to frozen peas to cabbage leaves. And you may get some relief from these things. But nothing like the relief you will get from Blossumz.
Placed in the freezer or warmed in the microwave, these handy gel packs are a girls best breast friend. They can be placed in your bra and come with cute fabric covers that keep the gel pack from sticking to you.
See the lady in the picture? If I had two of these I would look just like her (plus or minus a few pounds!). Since I only have one Blossumz I am walking around lopsided. But I don't care. It's worth it for the sweet relief of boob pain! My girls will just have to take turns.

Hat's On to Breastfeeding Moms with MoBoLeez Nursing Bonnets
I thought I had seen it all when it came to nursing cover ups. Basically I thought there were only three varieties: the apron, the blanket/shawl and the poncho. But I was wrong! Because a very, very clever mom has come up with a whole new way to cover up when nursing your baby in public. You might even say that she came up with it right off the top of her head ... the MoBoleez is brilliant!
All kidding aside, when I saw this product I had to crack a great big giant grin. I never would have thought of using a wide brimmed hat to cover my breast while nursing but it makes perfect sense. And it works just perfectly. The reason it works so well is the careful way the hat is crafted. The super soft knit cotton brim is just wide enough, just stable enough and weighted just right to drape perfectly around your exposed breast. Even over my generously sized DD's. The baby's head is loosely covered and the brim sits away from his face so there is plenty of room to breathe. The logo on the outside is cute and simple and the message on the inside of the brim "hi mummy" is a sweet little for-your-eyes-only reminder that your baby loves you for taking such good care of him.
I love using this hat so much more than any of the blanket/poncho/apron style cover ups. It only covers the area that needs covering, and thus your baby is not smothered, you are not likely to overheat and you don't feel awkwardly draped. I never really got the hang of nursing with other cover ups and as a result, have inadvertently exposed myself more times then I could count, whilst breastfeeding over the years. Too bad for any curious lookie-loos who missed out on that sight! Much to the relief of my oldest daughter, and all thanks to MoBoleez, those days are over.
Note, I tested this product out while going over a quote for home improvements with my macho-dude, single and childless general contractor, a guy who really would rather not watch me breastfeed. This was a serious test! And no worries for any of us. I've now got a Moboleez hat tucked into my diaper bag and it is on my short list of fabulous shower presents.
Whenever I've been in need of a snappy outfit, I've known to head for classic at Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft. A dress for a semi-formal, interview suits, casual picnics to formal evening events, even bridesmaids' dresses, they've all been so easy to find with the classic style, fit and oh-so-reasonable price.
But during my pregnancies, I was stuck. I'd peek in at Ann Taylor dreaming that the classy cobalt blue shift dress would fit my round belly, wondering just how I would find an alternative.
Those of you pregnant in '08 and beyond, consider yourselves back in class. Ann Taylor Loft has caught up with the maternity craze of its shoppers and introduced their own maternity line. I received my samples a few weeks ago and Saturday, while getting dressed to go out, actually grabbed the top, just to see if it wouldn't be too big. On my non-preggo body, it was, but on your pregnant body, you would have looked devine.
Haven't seen or touched it yet? Its the same fine quality of ATLoft items. The same thickness in material you've come to expect. And just as well made. If the outfit I have didn't have room for a belly, I'd expect to see it on a mannequin in a Loft store. (and if you have a ATLoft store with Maternity, you probably will!)
The fit is very true to size--you shouldn't have to venture beyond your regular AT size, XXS to XXL (aka 00 to 18). Colors this season at Ann Taylor Loft are bright and springy: lots of bright pinks, some blues, greens and purples, and many blacks, whites and browns. And as with most Ann Taylor Loft clothing, the maternity line is very mixy-matchy, so its a great value when you can get 5 pieces and have about 8 outfits.
Maternity is currently only available in some of the Ann Taylor Loft stores (one near me--wahoo for all my pregnant friends!) Of course, you can also find it online. And, get this, you'll get free standard shipping on all orders of $100 or more, no coupon necessary. So you don't even need a maternity store near by. Better yet, Ann Taylor is offering their first ever Friends and Family promotion: 25% off today through Sunday, April 20: Use code 10701100 or print out this coupon for in store savings. The coupon can be used for Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, Ann Taylor Loft Maternity and Ann Taylor Factory Store.
They also have a lot of cute maternity clothing on sale--like a sleeveless dress for $49.99 (originally $74) and my very cute top for $29.99 (originally $49.00).
Okay so I'm not pregnant, but I was very tempted to eat the entire bag of these new Belly Bar Chews. Made by Nutrabella and the same folks who make the Belly Bar (which you've probably seen in the aisle at the grocery store next to the Power Bars), Belly Bar Chews are small "candies" made to satisfy that sweet craving you have while pregnant - but the icing on the cake is that they are full of all sorts of nutritional goodies your body and baby will love. They're basically packed with prenatal vitamins like iron, calcium, protein and vegetarian Omega-3 DHA. All great stuff for a pregnant or nursing Mama to ingest.
Right now they come in two yummy flavors - Citrus on Board and Chocolate Cuddles. Take your pick pregnant Moms (or get both!). Each bag contains 30 pieces and they range from $8.99-11.99 depending on where you buy them. Find them in store at Babies R US or online at the Nutrabella website. If you buy them in-store, be sure to click on "download a coupon" on the bottom right of this page to print out a coupon and receive a discount.
And in case you all are wondering, although I was very tempted to keep the bag for myself (yum), I did pass it along to a brave Mommy friend of mine who is thirteen weeks into her third pregnancy.
It's not the tents in Bryant Park at Fashion Week in New York City, but when your latest creation makes their big premiere, you don't have to skimp on style. You'll be strolling (or rolling) down the maternity halls in haute style, with a personalized gown from Girlie Gowns.
It's a new trend in maternity - dressing for your delivery. But it makes perfect sense given the fact that you will likely be photographed and will of course want to look and feel your best. Who wants to wear a grungy borrowed gown that has been through a hundred deliveries (don't even think about it!) when you can wear something that is cute and monogrammed and your very own, instead?
Girlie Gowns delivers style to your doorstep that will see you through the big day. With three styles of perkily polka dotted gowns that can be monogrammed (to add that extra special touch) you can rest assured you will look marvelous. The gowns are made from crisp cottons in vibrant colors sure to make you feel fashionable. They are hospital friendly and provide access for breastfeeding and epidurals and they also keep your bum covered. And they tie closed with a cute little bow.

Pronounced like the word "sigh," Psi Bands are wrist bands designed and worn to help curb nausea. They're made to provide relief to anyone experiencing nausea for a number of reasons -- pregnancy/morning sickness, motion sickness, chemotherapy or whatever reason may exist for feeling queasy.
They work by triggering pressure points in your wrist that help the wearer tolerate and prevent nausea and vomiting. You've probably seen similar products at the drug store before. I know I actually wore a pair of similar ones (much uglier!) years ago on a cruise. They didn't work for me but I had actually split them up with a friend who was also sick - she wore one and I wore the other - all the while, no one told us you had to wear both to feel the effects! (I'm sure the folks working the cruise got a good chuckle out of us.) So don't make that mistake if you purchase these - wear both.
What makes these wrist bands better than the ones you can get at your local drug store is that they are so cute and stylish. It doesn't even really look like you're wearing any sort of medical bracelet or something that's in any way hokey looking - in fact, I doubt anyone would even know why you are wearing these, they're so cute looking.
Check them out on the Psi Bands website; each set sells for $19.99. Pick based on your style - they have plain black too which are certainly both-gender-friendly for Dads experiencing sympathy morning sickness... (do those guys really exist?)

34.5 Weeks Pregnant - Living in Lulu B Maternity/Nursing Wear
During pregnancy and immediately afterwards your body goes through so many changes. Sometimes you don't feel so pretty, and often you don't feel so comfy. But glammy-chic loungewear from Lulu B.Maternity and Nursing Loungewear is a quick fix to this problem. It's so beautiful and so comfortable that you'll look for excuses to wear these items everyday. Not that you need an excuse, or need to stay at home - this loungewear is pretty enough to go out shopping in, it's acceptable daywear as well.
Lulu B. Maternity Loungewear is sure to serve you well both during and after pregnancy, but you'll want to be sure to check out Lulu B.Nursing Loungewear as well. The nursing loungewear is especially thoughtfully designed to help breastfeeding moms achieve success without sacrificing their sense of style. Tops are crafted from soft fabrics in either prints (I love the zebra!) or juicy solid colors with coordintating trim.
Like the maternity tops, breastfeeding tops are made to be worn bra-less and provide support thanks to a soft elastic band that fits under the bust. I am rather full chested and found the tops provided enough support to be comfortable throughout a day of light activity. The top portion of the nursing top differs from the maternity styles in that it is layered and lifts, to expose an underneath layer with circular cut outs.
I can really appreciate that you can lift just the top portion of the shirt, one handed, and have fast and easy access for feedings without uncovering your entire torso and exposing yourself or catching a chilll. The tops are also triple lined and include handy special pockets for holding your breast pads - so they have you covered.
One other thing I love about the designs is that they are forgiving and flattering to your shape, both while pregnant, and postpartum. If you are into matchy-wear, check out their adorable matching infant onesies as well.
I'm so in love with this line. It's a great treat for any expecting or new mom. Lulu B. Nursing and Maternity Loungewear is sure to make you feel super special and lovely. And as a mom to be who has been on bedrest for the last seven weeks, I cannot recommend this line enough! It's made the darkest days seem much brighter and helped me retain my sense of style through it all.

I swear, someone is conspiring against me and my happy to not be pregnant self. Tempting me with adorable maternity items.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think it was my dear hubby who is on a quest to convince me that we should have a third baby. But since I know the odds of him being a maternity clothes designer on the sly are pretty slim, I'm gonna have to blame the folks at Love my Belly Maternity for my latest temptation.
Just in time for Valentine's Day, they have this matching heart tank for Mommy & Me. It's currently on sale for $20 (44% off!) plus they've extended a coupon to Mommies with Style readers, MWS30 for 30% off your purchase.
They also have it in long sleeve - you have to love the Mommy version, big heart on the front and a tiny one on the bottom in the back. (And what a great deal with the 30% off.)
34 Weeks Pregnant: B.Y.O.G. = Super Cute Hospital Gowns
Most of us want to dress nice on special days. We shop obsessively for wedding dresses, birthday party clothes, clothes to travel in. So when you think about it, doesn't it make sense to take the time to shop for clothes to give birth in? Few days in your life are more meaningful. Or more photographed.
I'm in the homestretch now and really starting to think about delivering my baby. I've had my hospital bag packed for a while now but the one thing that was missing, was a cute hospital gown. Not anymore! I've discovered B.Y.O.G.!
"Cute hospital gown" was once an oxymoron but no longer. There are a few companies out there now that have stepped up to the challenge of making your baby's premeire appearance into more of a fashion "do". B.Y.O.G. ("Bring your own gown") is by far my favorite choice. Their hospital gowns are so attractive and fun, that I will happily wear mine at home, after I deliver. I had a hard time choosing which gowns I liked best. I went with two for my own delivery - "Pink Lady" and "Appletini".
What I love most about the B.Y.O.G. gowns, aside from the lovely fabric selections and great customer service, is their unique cut. Never before have I seen a hospital gown styled with a slightly scooped and gathered peasant neckline, gently gathered sleeves and flattering (optional) sash that creates a slimming empire waistline. Their slightly retro chic feeling reminds me a little of the fabulous bedjackets and house frocks my grandma and great aunts would have worn. These inspirational ladies were far too chic to ever be phototgraphed in their old PJs or worse - a public issue gown.
Still - as fashionable as these gowns are, hospital functionality is not sacrificed. A line of snaps goes all the way up the back of this gown, allowing for easy opening without risking rear end exposure. Hidden in the gently gathered sleeves are a line of clever snaps that allow you to discreetly open the entire sleeve and drop it down to breastfeed.
You're going to take a million pictures when you have your baby, and you are going to want to be comfortable. I can't think of a better way to do that than with a gown from B.Y.O.G. and I just cannot wait to wear mine!

Looking for a more fashionable and edgy maternity tee? Bump babies (Baby under manufacturing process) Maroc tees are crafted from a luxurious and high quality cotton and have definite fashionista attitude. They cost a bit more than your average tees but the fit and style, as well as the materials are worth the splurge. Side ruching, v necks, and bell shaped tees give these tees a distinctive and flattering look.
I love my super soft ringspun cotton "WigglyBump" tee and lately it is especially appropriate. There are times when my belly wiggles so much it actually gets startled looks from passerby.
BumpBabies has a cute tee on sale for Valentines Day as well. Check out the LoveBump!
33 Weeks Pregnant - Belli Pregnancy Eases the Home Stretch
I'm in the home stretch now! And my belly is stretching faster than it has the entire pregnany. It amazes me how fast it has grown the past few weeks. My skin is itchy all over and I am finding myself cranky.
But I am also finding that high quality skincare products from Belli Pregnancy go a long way to ease the itchies, stretchies and crankies.
Made from pure and natural ingredients, Belli products are the only pregnancy skincare products on the market that are thoroughly researched to contain no ingredients that are potentially harmful to your developing baby. See the site for a list of potentially dangerous common skincare ingredients that can cross the placenta. They are proud to be the #1 recommended skincare solution by ob/gyns.
I received the Belli Pregnancy Gift Box ($42) and have been loving every product that came with. The gift set comes with 4 oz. sizes of Pampered Pregnancy Body Wash and All Day Moisture Body Lotion as well as 2 oz. sizes of Elasticity Belly Oil, Skin Smoothing Body Exfoliator and Foot Relief Cream. My favorites are the Belly oil and Foot Relief creams. The scent of the products are soothing and calming, with a hint of mint and lavender. The scent was designed with nauseated moms needs in mind and is sure not to upset even the most delicate senses.
One more product that I cannot rave enough about Belli's Eye Brightening Cream($28). I'm using it now due to sleepless third trimester nights and I can see it becoming a staple in my bag of mommy tricks. It really helps me fake a rested look. Not sure how it works, but it is magic!
Pamper yourself and protect your baby. Shop for Belli Products on the Belli site.
What is it about a pregnancy bump that invites conversation?
Get the discussion going with these playful tees from BellyFlirt. They have a bunch of fun quotes on their super soft and stretchy tees, sure to keep you smiling. I like "Sugar Mommy" and "I used to be a Size 0." (Umm...I wish. But hey, if I can blame the baby for my belly, why not blame him for my butt too?)
Of course my favorite for a soon to be mom of 4 such as myself is their "Breeder" tee.
I love nursing my babies. It really is a special time of bonding and a chance to help my little angel grow. It does however, like everything else, come along with some unique challenges. Like what on earth to wear while your nursing your precious little treasure.
If your babies are anything like mine, when they're hungry, they don't have much patience for you fumbling around with bulky and cumbersome non-nursing friendly clothing. And if you are anything like me, you want to wear clothing that is fashionable, yet still offers you that quick-access convenience you need for impatient nursers. Not to mention a little bit of coverage for Mommy. I said I love nursing, but I don't love showing everyone in the room that I'm nursing.
Thankfully the lovely people at Maternalove understand this.
With Maternalove's wide range of nursing tops you can look great, feel comfortable and enjoy convenient functionality while breastfeeding. They've created some really great designs for convenient nursing.
Check out their latest fashions and make life a little bit easier, for you and your baby.
I've officially entered my third trimester this week and I have also experienced a bout with preterm labor that has me on strict bedrest. One thing that my doctors have insisted upon is that I vigilantly track my baby's movements and record them in a log. This is an important thing for every pregnant woman to do but in my case, with increased risk, it's even more important. Most doctors recommend that you start tracking your babies kicks from 24 weeks onward.
For those who are unfamiliar with kick tracking, it is a way for moms and their doctors to gage the relative health of the baby. You pick a time each day, preferably an hour when your baby is most active, and simply note how long it takes for them to move or kick ten times. A lack of movement or dramatically slowed down movements, can indicate complications. And the sooner that this is checked out the better. While counting kicks is a simple enough task, it is also one that requires some amount of attention and accuracy. With my past pregnancies I sat with a pen, watch, and logbook, noting each kick, and the time between. It was tedious. I was prepared for the lecture from my doctor's nurse, about how I should be sure I was not distracted by anything, and had a good stopwatch to use with the paper logbook they were supplying,
What the nurse did not know was that this time I have it much easier. My Babykick KickTrak device takes the tedium and much of the tension away. This handy little electronic unit has made what used to seem like a chore, almost a pleasure. I am free to watch tv or type on the computer as I time my kicks. Yes I have to pay attention to the kicks, but I am free to ignore the clock. I have only to press a button each time I feel the baby move and the device keeps track of everything else. It stores my last ten sessions for me. Later,I can quickly and easily transfer this data to the log book for the doctor to keep. If at any time, the pattern of my baby's movements has changed and I need to call my doctor, the Babykick KickTrak sounds an alarm. With all that I have to worry about, it is a tremendous relief to have this little device working on my behalf.
The BabyKick KickTrak also keeps a calendar for me, showing exactly how many weeks and days are left in my pregnancy. So when someone asks whether I am 29 or 30 weeks now, and I have lost track, I know where to look for the answer. When I do go into labor, it can be used to time my contractions.
The nurses at my ob/gyn's office were very impressed with this device and asked me whether I could get them some literature about how they could supply these units to all of their patients. If you or a friend are pregnant, kick counting is going to be an inevitable task. Do yourself, or your friend a favor and get one of these. $39.95 is a small price to pay for peace of mind. You can purchase the Babykick Kicktrak on their site.
Almost 39 Weeks Pregnant: Earth Mama Angel Baby Pregnancy Relief
Editor's Note: Nancy's already given birth but had written this review beforehand so we're airing it now - scroll down the blog for info on Nancy and her new baby:
I'm really close to giving birth. I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant and frankly not doing so well right now. I have felt so amazing this pregnancy, so I guess if the last week stinks, I'll have to deal! Right now I can barely keep anything down because I'm nauseous all the time and my heartburn is awful too. I am taking something OTC, but it doesn't always work. My ankles are also very swollen and my blood pressure is high (but thankfully not as high as with my first pregnancy). Sleeping is another issue (or rather not sleeping). But our sweet baby girl will be with us very soon!
Just the other day, I got a package from Earth Mama Angel Baby that completely lifted my spirits! The kind Earth Mamas sent me some relief. This is the first time I actually teared up when I got a product to review in the mail!!!
I just started using their Earth Mama Heartburn Tea - a delicious organic herbal tea to combat heartburn. It made me so feel much better. It was also yummy and it was easy to use the loose tea to make it. Their website give directions on how to make tea using loose tea. I have also been soothing my aching back with their Hot Spot Labor Sock - a NICE microwavable herb- filled labor companion (made of rice and calming lavender blossoms). Tonight, as soon as my son is in bed, I will also soaking my swollen ankles in their Happy Feet (an organic Foot Soak for tire, swollen, tootsies).
Their products are amazing and I will be using their C-Section Healing Kit and their Breastfeeding Kit after I have the baby- I will be posting reviews on each of these.
Thank you Earth Mamas! I also used your birth plan template to make my birth plan (yes, you can even do them for C-Sections!)
38 Weeks Pregnant: 1 More Push Labor and Delivery Kits
We're getting down to the wire here, the baby could come any day. While she's still breech, and I am scheduled for a C-section, baby girl could still turn. And if she does, I will be ready for labor.
I feel ready for anything because of 1 More Push's great labor & delivery kit ($55). Even if I have the C-section, all these items can be used before and after in the hospital. They are cutely labeled and made me smile. The Kit contains
A stress ball (definitely would come in handy during contractions - instead of mauling your birthing partner's hand) Back Massager Mints Lip Balm (to combat those lizard lips) Hair Ribbon Ankle Socks (keep your tootsies warm while every other bit of you is hanging out) Washcloth Pen and Pad (always comes in handy - you could write down a list of things to do after baby comes or even start your "To Call/Email" list) Organic Lollipops (to combat dehydration) Newborn Onesie (that says "Going Home")
Lindsey Keller (who's expecting baby #3 in April) and her mom, Lori, are the owners. Lori was diagnosed with cancer in March 2006. Lindsey closed her home daycare business to take care of her mother and together they came up with this idea while her mom was sick ( thankfully she's in remission now).
This makes a great gift for any expectant mom (or snag it for yourself) - I wish I had had thought of putting together a kit like this when I was in labor for so many hours with my first child!!!
Buy the kit from their website (and get free shipping and handling). Shop 1 More Push.
I'm down to the last couple of weeks in my pregnancy. We just found out that my baby is breech and if she doesn't turn, I will have a c-section on December 31st.
But if my baby turns, I plan on wearing BINSI's Labor and Birth Apparel during the last phases of labor and delivery. When contractions get to be too much and I'm sweating my tuchos off, wearing BINSI's Go Go Top ($38) and Prima Mama Skirt ($55) will make me comfortable (and preserve what's left of my dignity/modesty). And if I end up having a c-section, I will be wearing the Go Go Top and Prima Mama Skirt afterwards for comfort reasons. Either way, its already packed in my bag!
BINSI's birth apparel was created by Carri Grimditch of Boulder, Colorado, in 2005. She's a mom of three, and is also a doula. According to BINSI's website, "This clothing line specializes in unique birthing skirts and tops for women who want more comfort, control, and empowerment in the delivery room. The skirt’s unique design is Carri’s own; her expertise isn’t grounded in the clothing or fashion industry, but in working with women as a certified doula. Every BINSI garment is designed to work well for doctors, nurses, anesthesiologist-and most of all mommies! BINSIskirts fit below the belly and were designed, along with all the items, to accommodate any medical equipment- even the epidural.BINSI skirts and tops include such features as: front hooks, snaps, adjustable straps and drawstring waistbands, which allows for easy and quick removal."
Carri's business partner, Kim Taylor was kind enough to send me the Go Go Top and the Prima MamaSkirt (and made sure they would fit my 9+ preggo body). And I LOVE them.
I have been wearing the Go Go Top as a sleep bra for the last few weeks and adore it. You can easily use it after your baby's birth as a comfortable nursing bra - just unhook the straps. It is so comfortable - love the soft cotton. It's available in black mystery or cream epiphany, but only the black is available on the BINSI site right now. It won't get in the way while you are in labor - specific features include: side snaps, two front hooks - so you can get that skin on skin contact and/or breastfeed as soon as possible.
The Prima Mama Skirt is a comfortable cotton adjustable drawstring skirt features: -Side slits for movement -Bend, sit,or squat as needed without an ounce of extra material to get in the way! -Under-belly fit. Made for monitoring and stays off sensitive skin during contractions. -Front snaps allow for a better fit and ease when removed. You can get the skirt in black eclipse, navy moon, purple elara and lavender venus and also comes with 8 colored beads that you can string on yourself. Blue stands for intuition, red for confidence and courage, lavender for love and beauty and green for life. Good for focusing during labor.
Celebrity moms also love BINSI. BINSI Apparel was gifted to Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Garner, Brooke Shields, and Melissa Joan Hart (during her pregnancy with son Mason).
36 Weeks Pregnant: The Birth'a Bag - the Already Packed Hospital Bag
When you are about to give birth (no matter if it's your first time or not) it's hard to make sure you have everything you need packed for the hospital. During the first time I was in labor (with my son) two years ago, I didn't have everything ready, since I went into labor at 38.5 weeks and was frankly clueless anyway.
I didn't think to bring anything except some clothes, toiletries, and books. While they were maternity, I didn't take into account that maternity jeans would not be comfortable for someone who just gave birth- ouch!. I forgot my razor, shampoo and conditioner (which I needed for the days after when I felt grubby and wanted to take a shower). I couldn't concentrate enough to read during labor or after I gave birth. I didn't think of bringing snacks for my husband or even a clean t-shirt or toothbrush for him (most men don't give these things a thought at all!). We also forgot our camera, so we borrowed one from my father in law to get those important first pictures of our new baby. Basically, I felt very unorganized. Wouldn't it be great if someone actually packed the essentials for you?
The Birth'a Bag, created by Shari Miller, is making things much easier for me. A mom herself, she started packing her friend's hospital bags and it turned into a business. The Birth'a Bag she kindly sent me - will be coming with me to the hospital and is totally packed with everything I need for labor and my hospital stay. Shari uses all natural and organic products and has really thought of everything a mom needs to get through the birth. She even has some kosher snacks included. And if you are going to be delivering via C-section, all the items included are useful to take care of you before and after your C-section.
You can choose from the Birth'a BagVIP ($180) or the Birth'a BagBasic ($110). They use the same bag, but the products inside are a little different. I saw the VIP bag.
Products included in the Birth'a Bag V.I.P are:
B. Kamins Face Cleanser - Vegetable based and gentle B. Kamins Facial Moisturizer White Towel Service Lavender Infused Washcloth Wooden Hair Brush Lizard Lip Balm Recycline Preserve Toothbrush Weleda Natural Toothpaste Radius Natural Silk Dental Floss Chandler's Natural Body Butter - for hand and body moisturizing Chandler's Natural Lavender Body Powder Weleda Natural Rose Deodorant Weleda Lavender Relaxing Body Oil Perx Organic Lavender Towelettes CleanWell Natural Hand Sanitizer Spray - I absolutely love this healthier anti-bacterial spray 100% Cotton T-Shirt - for your birthing coach, husband, partner (or all of the above) may need to change into something a little more comfortable - who knows how long labor will last! (Specify size small, medium, large or x-large on order area) Yummy Earth Organic Lollipops (kosher) - to help with feeling dehydrated Chomp Natural Cookie - a yummy snack for your birthing coach Endangered Species Chocolate (kosher) - for the coach (or as a treat for you after delivery!) Original Music CD - Calm relaxing birthing music that you can also download unto your iPod or MP3 player Kodak Disposable Camera - so you don't have to worry about packing your camera and wondering where it is during labor.
You can chose from four colors for the cute diaper bag that everything comes in- Jelly Bean Black, Olive You, Navy Blue-Gaa and Gimme Gray. The bag is roomy and is currently holding plenty of other items that I want to bring to the hospital. It will clip onto my stroller (after we come home from the hospital) and I love the orange paisley lining. I've already packed my dearjohnnies gown and Binsi birthing apparel (I posted about dearjohnnies last week. Click here to read that review. I will be posting about Binsi next week. I also put in 1 More Push's Labor Kit ( another fab mom idea which will air the week after that). I also put in some other items like contact lens solution, my extra pair of glasses and a contact lens case. I'll also stick a toothbrush in for my husband and his deodorant. 35 Weeks Pregnant: dearjohnnies hospital gowns - cover that tush!
At 35 weeks pregnant, I'm busy getting ready for my baby daughter's birth. In the next few weeks, I will focusing on products and items I'll be bringing to the hospital and using during labor and delivery (and the aftermath). This week I'll be discussing dearjohnnies hospital gowns.
I hated the hospital gown that I wore when I gave birth to my son two years ago. I'm sure most women had a similar experience to mine. Every time I had to go to the bathroom, I felt a breeze! The gown was also ugly, faded and who knows how many people had worn it before me? I also didn't like airing out my tush for the world to see - when I wanted to get up. A nurse told me afterwards that I should have asked for a second gown to use as a robe (gee, now you tell me!!). I ended up doing the 2 hospital gown thing for the rest my stay, but I still didn't feel attractive. When your whole body feels like crap, at least looking good can make you feel a little better!!
Rachel Zinny, the owner of dearjohnnies, sent me a gorgeous hospital gown that actually fit me! I'm loving the plus-sized Mimi Gown ($65) from her Limited Edition collection- which features cool, funky prints.. I liked the snap up back (yeah, no breeze) and that it comfortably fit my 8 months and 3 weeks pregnant tummy. The two ribbon ties (a classy pink grosgrain) were secure and tied tightly. The gown was well made and comfortable. The company suggests you wash it a few times before you use it to make it a little softer. My husband actually picked out the Mimi Gown, which was a mintish green with yellow, blue, orange and pink circles. I felt pretty in it. My tush didn't show either. Since it is a hospital gown, I don't think I'll get a problem from the nurses. You can easily pull down the shoulders for breastfeeding access ( a plus!).
Owner Rachel got the idea shortly before her first daughter, Cece, was born. She and her husband planned to take pictures and realized that the ugly hospital gown was going to be prominently featured for posterity. Before her next daughter was born, she made two gowns herself and wore them in the hospital. Her friends began ordering them as gifts for baby showers. And her business was "born".
Celeb moms like Jennifer Garner, Jennie Garth, Mariska Hargitay, Brooke Shields, Tori Spelling and Samantha Harris have all received their own dearjohnnies. Mariska wore hers for son August's birth. Tori Spelling mentioned dearjohnnies in her US Weekly article. Samantha Harris couldn't wait to wear her gown and robe, when her daughter, Josselyn Sydney Hess, was born recently.
Adorable and pregnant mommy-friendly, dearjohnnies offers two gown collections (limited edition, which I mentioned, and the Wellesley Collection). You can get most gowns in the small/medium size or the large/extra large size. The Mimi, Lucy, Cece and Ellie also come in plus sizes (size 16-24). You can also pick a matching Wellesley robes (so cute) and swaddle blankets (even cuter) for your babe. I picked the Lucy swaddling blanket ($26 for one, 2 or more are $23 each). Since Ben is so obviously wearing the hospital swaddling blanket in his first pictures, it will be great to wrap up my baby girl in the Lucy blanket for her first pictures!
You can choose a gown, a robe and a swaddling blanket for $141 - with a discount of $20 for their Set to Deliver Promotion. You can also choose the Pick a Pair promotion (get two gowns for $55) or the Pefect Pair Promotion (get $15 off when you order a gown and a robe). You can also get monogramming for each item that dearjohnnies sells (for an extra $8 per line).
Thank you Rachel, for making your gorgeous hospital gowns in regular and plus sizes. My tush thanks you too!

This is right around the point of a pregnancy when the nights get longer, the trips to the bathroom get more frequent and my regular clothing no longer cuts it. I've been looking for some humorous tees to get me "over the bump" as it were, and the ones from baby&momma fit the bill.
My personal favorite is the "I'm With My Inner Child" tee. It's super soft and stretchy in a lightweight cotton/spandex blend. Other humorous phrases include "SugarMomma" and "Who's Your Mommy?".
After the baby arrives (and inevitably looks like his siblings did) I am going to enjoy dressing him in a onesie that says "Clone". Other clever tees in the line proclaim "Patent Pending" and "Are You Really My Relatives?".
33 Weeks Pregnant: Belly Beats - Grooving to the (heart)beat
I have to go to my OB's appointments by myself - my husband works during the day (they don't have night or weekend hours) and my two year old can't handle staying quiet and calm during my doctor's appointments - but what 2 year old could? So my mother meets us at the office and takes care of him. But I wanted to share the experience of hearing our baby's heartbeat with my family. Belly Beats came to my rescue. It's a service that will rent or sell you a fetal digital doppler device (very similar to the one your doctor uses) to hear your baby's heartbeat - while in the comfort of your own home. So, my son and husband are able to share in this experience with me, while in our own home.
We checked out the digital fetal heartbeat monitor. It will cost you about $45 a month to rent. Or you could buy it for $599. The unit comes with a manual, a recording of the maternal and fetal heartbeat sounds, a 9 volt battery and a 2 oz tube of ultrasound lotion. You can buy more ultrasound lotion (8.5 oz for $7.95).
According to their website, "The Fetal Doppler Baby Heartbeat Monitor listens to reflections of small, high frequency sound waves that are reflected off of the baby's heart. Since high frequency sound waves do not travel readily through air, a liquid such as water, oil, or Fetal Doppler Ultrasound Lotion is applied to the mother's belly in order for the Fetal Doppler- Baby Heartbeat Monitors probe to detect these sound waves. These signals are picked up by the Fetal Doppler-Baby Heart Monitor and processed and amplified so that they are audible in the instrument's speaker or earphone and you are able to hear the fetal heartbeat!"
Now, I caution, this is NOT a substitute for regular medical appointments. It should be used in a supplemental way (kind of like gravy). The FDA has approved this unit for home use by expecting mothers with the approval of a physician - which I did get.
It made me happy to hear my daughter's heartbeat whenever my husband or I wanted. My doctor showed me how to find the heartbeat using the digital fetal doppler in a matter of seconds. As your little peanut is growing in your tummy, you'll have to adjust where to find the heartbeat. Packing for a journey where one leaves as pregnant woman and comes home a mother, deserves special attention. Perhaps this is why I have approached this task with OCD zeal, attempting with each pregnancy, to pack the "perfect" bag.
Baby books are all full of helpful hints of what to pack for the hospital and mommy boards are full of even more suggestions. From socks to hairbands to sour candies, lots of people have practical suggestions for the items you will need to make your labor, delivery, and recovery comfortable. For me, the little things mean a lot. Such as bath/body products without conflicting or annoying smells, and clothing and nursing attire made from all natural non-synthetic fibers. Even the bag itself merits careful consideration. Assembling everything is an endeavor that usually takes me weeks.
Thus, with each pregnancy ( I am now on my fourth child) I've started packing my bag a little sooner. Last time, with potential bedrest looming, I started to pack as soon as I entered the 2nd trimester. And once again, I have started early this time. The only difference is that this time I got it all done in one day. Because this time, I let someone else do the packing. And then I put my feet up. Live and learn!
The Little Stork has outdone even an OCD girl like me. Their bags are truly perfecty packed and they have thought of just about everything. When you order from them you not only save time and money (items would cost you far more to assemble separately), but you save yourself the stress of running around to find all this stuff. And later you save yourself the annoyance of having to send your significant other out to fetch forgotten items, at a time when you should just be basking in new parenthood together and bonding with the baby.
The Little Stork's generously sized and attractive canvas bags come filled with all the high quality essentials, but leave some room for you to tuck in your own additional must-have items. Most of the bath and clothing items are organic and have soothing natural scents. You select your own size for clothing items, so the bag is really tailored to your individual needs. There is even a handy toiletries kit for your significant other or labor partner and a cute outfit for your baby. For a complete list of bag contents, click here.
It's no surprise that busy celebrities like Gwen Stefani and Brooke Shields have headed to the hospital with Little Stork bags. I'm thrilled to be in such clever company. Little Stork bags make amazing baby shower gifts and are an absolute lifesaver for moms on bedrest. I'm so thrilled to have mine ready to go. It really provides such peace of mind to have a great bag all prepared. Now I just have to figure out what to do with all that time and money that I saved!

22 Weeks Pregnant: Things are looking up on the Boob Tube
They say that certain things head south for new moms. One minute you're pointing due north and the next, your headlights are aimed somewhere in the vicinity of Tierra Del Fuego.
Which is why Mama Mio came out with the Boob Tube. Pure hope in a bottle, this lotion delivers what it promises, perkier parts. Applied daily, it really does what it was made to do, which includes vanquishing the words "saggy" and "baggy" from your bosomly vocabulary.
I hear that Santa is from the North Pole. So he'd be the first one to suggest putting this little pick me up in your stocking this season. Let me be the second. Because we all could use a little lift now and then.
Purchase Boob Tube directly from Mama Mio for $35. Use code freeship for free shipping on all orders over $65.
As a planner/desperately trying-to-be organized type of gal, I'm narrowing down what things I will be packing for my labor and delivery. Ben came at 38 weeks, so with possibly 6 weeks to go, it's time to start thinking about this. I'm definitely taking several of Bella Mama's products with me.
For labor: their Face and Body Spritzer ($11.50) will be wonderful during contractions and delivery. It comes in a 4.6 oz bottle made with pregnancy-safe herbs and essential oils (rose water, extracts of cucumber, green tea, rose bud, aloe verbal, as well as vitamins A, B & E.
After delivery: I plan on using the Sitz Bath with rose water and and green tea - for soaking those lady parts and their Nursing Salve with shea butter (I think you can guess what for).
Right now, I'm using their Belly Oil ($15 for 2 oz, $24 for 4 oz) and Belly Butter ($9.50) to keep those stretch marks at bay, as well as curing the extreme itchiness of my belly. I also love their Foot Salts ($14 for heaven in my footbath!). Besides smelling terrific, these products are so soothing!!
These products are offered in several types of gift sets. You can find these products in the UK at mumstheword.com and pregnantandbeautiful.com and for a directory of Canadian retailers here. You can find US retailers here.
