I get hugely overwhelmed each year during open enrollment. I hate the emails and phone calls from hubby about it. Should we switch the plan we’re on? Let me send you these bazillion emails and see what you think. It can totally be daunting to get through it all and choose the plan that’s right for you.

And that’s just healthcare. Then you have to pick dental vision care too. OMG!

Did you guys know that women are the primary decision makers when it comes to these choices! (Not shocking, right?)

VSP Vision Care, the nation’s largest vision insurance company, has provided a few simple tips to help guide people through this year’s open enrollment decisions:

o Find a plan that is simple to use. When choosing a plan, it’s important to make sure that you understand exactly what you are signing up for and find a plan that is simple for you to use and understand. Make sure your plan is flexible with an extensive list of doctors to choose from, is easy to view online and includes easily printable reports.

oAssess the value and savings within this plan. If you choose the right insurance plan, it can actually save you money including total out-of-pocket costs, co-pays and discounts on overages. Many plans allow you to see your savings before you actually enroll so you can map out how much money you’ll be able to pocket.

oMake sure your plan is personalized for your needs. Choose a plan that caters to the specific needs of you and your family. Focus on the quality of care provided by doctors to ensure that your overall wellness is cared for year after year.

oDon’t skimp on vision and dental benefits. Often, vision and dental benefits are overlooked when they should be part of one’s plan selection. Annual eye exams can detect the early signs of chronic diseases like diabetes, glaucoma and high blood pressure and early detection of these conditions can save you from extensive medical bills in the long run not to mention ensure you’re healthy overall!  Make sure to take advantage of the vision and dental benefits packages offered by your employer or look into affordable individual plans.

So what are the benefits of enrolling in vision insurance?

oKeep your eyes healthy

o Save money

o Get access to great eyewear

o Enable your family to experience life to the fullest

We already have VSP, so we wouldn’t save any more than we already are. 🙂
