We have yet to dive in. My youngest (and the Skylanders guru in the house) turns 8 in early November so we always hold out for his birthday to open up the latest version of the game. You would think it would get easier as each year passes but every October is a serious test of his patience as he sees all the commercials and is dying to play!
There seem to be two different versions of the starter park – the plain Skylanders Trap Team Starter Pack ($74.99 on Amazon) or the Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Pack ($99.99). The Dark Edition includes some additional characters which seem cool.
What’s also awesome with this latest release from Skylanders is the Skylanders Tablet version. Kids can now play the game entirely on their tablets with a free app store download. You need the Skylanders Trap Team Starter Pack Tablet Edition but the price is comparable to the game systems ($74.99) and is a great option for kids who don’t own game systems. This is seriously a great holiday choice for any kids or family members on your list who you are unsure about their game system.
I’ll come back with a review in a couple of weeks once we’ve unboxed it – plenty of time for a holiday purchase. So stay tuned! And in the meantime, I’m going to be on the hunt for character sales and will share as I find them (comment if you know of any good deals!)
