Sometimes I see a baby product and I think, man, I wish I had that when my kids were younger! The Pognae Baby Carrier is one of them. Soft and comfy, this baby carrier is one both you and your baby will love! I was a huge fan of baby carrying with my youngest – it’s so key to be hands free when you have more than one you have to deal with when you’re out and about.

One of the key things to look for with a carrier is comfortable straps. Depending on how much your baby weighs, you want something that’s going to support that baby weight. Love these padded straps from Pognae to help support carrying the baby.

There’s also a mesh cooling vent to help keep you and baby cool (it can be a workout to carry baby around).

The Pognae Baby Carrier comes in 8 different patterns that are all super cute! They are normally $89 but range in price on sale right now for $55-$65.

Disclaimer: A sample (which is now being happily used by a friend with a newborn) was provided of a Pognae wrap.

Since my little guy was born I had all intentions of being on the baby wearing train. It just made perfect sense. You got to keep your baby close to you, as well as have the opportunity to be somewhat productive. Win win right? There are a bunch of different types of carriers, and one type I like at this point is the wrap style. The Baby K’tan Carrier is that type, and makes baby wearing both easy and comfortable.

The Baby K’tan Carriers give you the wrap style without all the “wrapping”. The original carrier ($62.99) is made out of cotton, and the new Breeze style (which I tried $67.99) is made out of both cotton and mesh. This mesh/cotton construction reduces heat and moisture, making it more breathable and comfortable for the infant and caregiver during outdoor active use, while retaining the same stability and ease-of-use as the original.

One thing about wraps is that they can sometimes be difficult to figure out and put on, but The Baby K’tan Carrier makes it easy by using a 2 loop structure. This structure allows you to use the carrier in as many as 9 different ways to suit your needs, and can hold up to 35 pounds. Another good thing about this particular wrap is that it’s not one size fits all. They have different sizes so that you can choose the size that fits you best.

The original carrier comes in four different colors (soft sand, warm cocoa, basic black, sage green), and 2 organic styles (natural, pure honey). The breeze style only comes in 2 colors, white and black. I thought that was the only downside to the Breeze Carrier. Although it is mesh and able to breath I think black is a tough color for hot days since black is known to attract sun. White of course dirties easily which is a definite downside since babies are known to bring messes.

Anything that is said to be good for my baby’s emotional and physical development is good for me. It took some time for our little guy to be comfortable being worn, but it’s starting to stick. I think that as his head gets stronger it will be even better. In the meantime I will continue to use The Baby K’tan Breeze Carrier, and look forward to it even more once the weather turns and I can “wear” my son outside!

I was provided with a Baby K’tan Breeze carrier for the purposes of this review. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

It comes in all black base, but you can buy a set of 3 different colors (which will run you around $30) to change up your look. Each cover attaches easily (via snaps) and it makes it easier to match to your outfits, child’s outfits, your diaper bag… Then you just attach the pocket (which comes in black) via velcro over the colored fabric. How cool is that?

We sampled the ERGObaby with the Bold Pack ($30). I loved the fun geometric prints – since I wear a lot of black, brown and red, I was able to match what I was wearing. The India Pack (with exotic, floral prints) is also available. We’re fans of this innovative concept!

If you don’t own an ERGObaby yet, I highly recommend it. It can be used from newborns to toddlers (just use the infant insert with babies with poor head control). The weight of your child is distributed on your hips, not your back. You can wear your child facing into you, on your back, or on your hip.

Thank you to ERGObaby for sending a product sample to for review purposes.

I know I don’t have a baby just yet, and I know that sometimes babies decide for themselves what they like and don’t like, but I am a huge fan of the idea of “baby wearing”. It just seems so practical to me! You get to have your hands free, and your baby still gets to be held. A win win situation in my book. That’s why I was very excited to try out my first “baby wearing” apparatus. The Action Baby Carrier from Heavenly Hold, which is the newest soft structured carrier on the market.

Let’s first talk about fit and comfort. I thought it was great! It took me a minute to get the thing on, but once I did it felt great! It was comfortable and very light weight. Here’s me!

I put a stuffed animal in it to make feel more real. What do you think? You can either wear this carrier on the front, the back or the hip, which is convenient and versatile. You can also use it till your baby reaches 40 lbs so it can be used from newborn to the toddler years.

Another great thing about this carrier is that it’s rather affordable. At $89, it is said to be the lowest priced US made soft structured carrier. I liked the idea of it being made in the US, since not much else is these days.

Let’s recap… we’ve got great fit, versatility and a very nice price….definitely worth a try!

It was painful and awful. But the worst part was when the doc told me: “No more slinging your baby.” That was a crushing blow. I loved wearing my baby, and the closeness of carrying him almost everywhere.

My back is stronger now, thank goodness, but I’ve still been advised not to carry my baby in a sling or wrap style carrier for any length of time. I was told to try out a frame carrier, if I was thinking of carrying. Problem was, I was not seeing any frame carriers that I liked. They all looked like camping gear to me. Kinda funky and grungey cool, but not something I would choose to wear unless I was fully accessorized for a woodland hike and headed out on a national park trail.

Then along came Kokopax. This company has put the cool back in frame packs. Their gorgeous fabrics and simple design have brought babywearing back into my life for one last gasp, before my little guy is too big.

I cannot tell you how thrilled he was to be carried in this backpack carrier. He loved it so much that he refused to get out of it, even after we were done. He wanted to sit in it longer. He gets a huge smile whenever he sees the Kokopax and this is a ringing endorsement from a child who hates to be constrained and who will only sit in a stroller for naps.

Kokopax are very easy to load a kid into and put on.. There is a handy pocket on the back of the carrier for bringing along a few essentials and a ring for toy attachments. The fabric choices are just beautiful. If you feel that regular soft carriers are hard on your back, this may be a good alternative for you. It’s not as versatile as some soft carriers, and it is a little more bulky to store, but it’s definitely more comfortable to wear for an extended period, especially with toddlers and larger babies.

We love using the Kokopax at Kindergarten pickup. It allows me to greet my older son with both arms open, while my younger son gets to stay close and happy as well. It’s a simple but brilliant thing. I’m so glad that Kokopax has brought modern style to the classic frame backpack carrier!

Finally, seeing no easy way to strap the carrier onto him, I decided to have a little fun. 8 months pregnant, I carried the baby in my belly on front, and my preschooler on my back. And I have to tell you, it was such a simple carry. AT 34 pounds, he felt lighter strapped onto my back than he had in over a year being carried with my arms up front. What a thrill… and why hadn’t I been using a BabyHawk before?

Knowing how useful it can be with a three-year-old, I can’t wait to carry my baby in a front carry. BabyHawks have a padded headrest so that even the youngest of babies can cuddle closely and safely in front.

When my 3-year-old was an infant I was terrified of a Mei Tai (Asian Baby Carrier). All the super long straps were intimidating, and, of course, the biggest concern, how could I guarantee baby wouldn’t fall out? I learned that Mei Tai’s are like origami; bend, fold and twist, and they work. Follow the detailed instructions on BabyHawk’s site and you’ll be as surprised as I was at how easy they are.

When searching for an Asian Baby Carrier, definitely look for padding, and lots of it. You’ll want the shoulder straps (which go around your shoulders) to be padded, as well as the leg straps for comfort of your child. And a padded headrest is such a necessary bonus to allow for ultimate comfort and support for baby. BabyHawk has all of this.

BabyHawk also has fantastic fabrics. All are preshrunk and, of course, match every style. Select from pre-made carriers of their most popular combinations, or design your own–you’ll get to pick the pattern for the center as well as straps and padding color. And, for only $10 extra, you can design a reverse side (something I would so do because I can never make up my mind.)

My infant carseat expires in about 3 months… not quite enough time to use the old seat for my new baby. So I’ve been surveying the aisles of Babies R Us, Target, and the like for a new seat.

And, really, if I’m going to get a new seat, I might as well get a travel system to make life easier, right? The Bertini B5 catches my eye time and again at BRU, and not just because its also in my garage. With its sharp-looking fabric of black and white with yellow piping, its certain to be a set you give a second look to as well. (Please, go to the store and take a look yourself, or see my image of the stroller here. Its so much a sharper look in person.)

We’ve tested out the B5 carseat in 3 cars, making sure it fits with ease. (According to Car Passenger Seat Tech Dr. Laura Jana, this is extremely important when selecting a carseat. Always ask to take it outside to your car(s) and make sure its a comfortable fit.) Surprisingly, I could fit the Bertini, a Britax Roundabout and a Britax Marathon 3-across in the second row of my Honda Pilot. The squeeze was extremely tight, but it was doable. In the VW Routan (image here) which I recently tested, I found it difficult to install, but not so much because of the B5′s LATCHs, more because the LATCHes are difficult to access in the Routan. It also fit nicely in our Honda Accord, though only 2 seats will fit in there.

A feature I love in the B5 is the ability to keep the handle in the upright position. This isn’t something all seats do (read your instruction guide because all seats are different) and with 3 kids any little step you can avoid (like clicking the handle down) is a bonus.

The seat features EPP ProTech foam (energy absorbing) and adjustable stay in car base which uses either LATCH and tether. As well you can strap the seat directly into the car. And while it provides more legroom than the average seat (allowing for longer babies and longer use than many seats), it also comes with an insert for smaller babies. The seat has been tested and approved for babies 4 to 35 pounds.

The stroller, which is approved up to 50 pounds, offers a large seat base, huge basket, and an easy-to-collapse one handed release. The highlight to the stroller? It stands upright and clips in the baby seat simply by placing the carrier onto the stroller.
