Fashion Friday: LA Celeb Fashion & Oscar Looks For Less

No doubt about it, there were some beautiful dresses at the Oscars on Sunday night.  But since the majority of us aren’t out shooting movies we make well over six figures on, we can’t afford the designer dresses to go along with the whole LA style scene.

Here are some more affordable options and alternatives to give you the same look as some of your favorite Hollywood stars:

Here’s Reese Witherspoon in Armani.

For a more affordable option, try the JS Boutique Beaded Chiffon & Strapless Gown – $188 at Nordstrom.com.

Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang

For a more affordable option, try this BCBG MaxAzaria Pleated Maxi Dress for $148

Halle Barry in Christian Louboutin

For a more affordable (although still expensive but not Christian Louboutin prices) and stunning, this Aidan Mattox Gown is $385 at Bloomingdale’s.

Not satisfied with a similar look?  You want the exact looking dress? eDressMe.com actually offers knock-off replicas to the Hollywood starlet dresses for much less than the original prices.  This is kind of cool – you can actually pre-order all of the dresses seen on the major stars last week on this Hollywood Recreations page.  Check it out – isn’t this one a dead ringer for Reese Witherspoon’s dress?  And a lot less at $215.

My favorite Stella & Dot Jewelry pieces (25% off today only with coupon code plus a #giveaway!)

If you haven’t heard of Stella & Dot jewelry, you will soon. I was recently introduced to this awesome company by my friend Jen (and fellow MWS writer) who is also a Stella & Dot jewelry stylist. The company, which is a little over two years old, is run by some amazing women (one who started Weddingchannel.com) and sells incredible and ultra-chic, celebrity and press-adored jewelry.

I recently hosted a Stella & Dot trunk show and got over $400 in free jewelry rewards! It was a very fun shopping spree! Here are some of my favorite pieces that I selected, many of which are perfect for the holidays or gift giving.

These Leather Wrap Bracelets are so in right now and look great layered with other bracelets. Have you seen the Tory Burch ones or the ones from Chan Luu? The Stella & Dot ones are equally chic and at a much better price point! ($39 for single wraps, $59 for double).

I love these gold fringe hoop earrings — they look amazing on and are a great price at $44. They also come in silver. I ordered both pairs!

I love the Stella & Dot charm collection — I can mix and match my perfect necklace and make something special for my daughter, mom, sister-in-law, friend, or for myself! I wear my charms on a long gold chain (it looks great layered with shorter necklaces) and my 7-year old daughter wears her initial on a pretty hot pink ribbon (with a peace sign, of course!)

This gorgeous hematite ring looks great with casual or dressy outfits. I couldn’t decide between the hematite or gold…both are amazing! At $49 maybe I should get both!

My daughter couldn’t decide between all of the adorable girls items, and they recently launched a collection of tween items too. (Most girl and tween items are $14 to $29!) They make great gifts and come in adorable tins — no gift wrap needed! (Actually, all Stella & Dot items come beautifully boxed and wrapped in tissue for great and easy gift giving!)

If you have never experienced a Stella & Dot piece, now is your chance! Jen is raffling off your choice of her best selling bracelets: the gorgeous gold Stella Vintage bracelet, or the fun and funky silver Bardot spiral bracelet. Both are beautiful and would be great additions to your wardrobe! How do you enter? Enter a comment below with what bracelet you love. For an additional entry,  follow the latest Stella & Dot news by following Jen on Twitter @JenThomas19002 and follow MWS @mommieswstyle. For two more bonus entries, please tweet about this contest!  Be sure to @mommieswstyle and @JenThomas19002 so we know you’ve done so! Contest ends on Sat Dec 4th.

Want to make a Stella & Dot  purchase online? (They make great gifts and are wrapped in adorable packaging!) Take advantage of a very rare offer and take 25% off any item of your choice, today only, 11/26, using code USFAM10 at checkout. Happy shopping, enjoy!

Moms in the ‘Wood: Silver Spoon Style!

wigdogOne of the very best parts of being a Mommies With Style west coast writer, are the opportunities I have to hang out with Celeb Moms and hear about the latest and greatest products they are using, as well as the old standards that are still their faves. Recently I attended the Silver Spoon Dog and Baby Buffet. Moms, dads, kids and furry babies all attend this family friendly event each year and get treated to organizer Melissa & Lorena’s latest finds. It’s one of my favorite events to attend: celebs, great products, families, what’s not to love?!  Plus, if you are really lucky, you might even see a dog in a pink wig.

Some of my favorites from this year’s event included classics like:

I was also delighted by some new (to me) finds :

Expect more detailed reviews of some of these products in the weeks to come!

Celebrities in attendance at this event included  Tori Spelling, Chad Lowe, Scott Baio, Kara Dioguardi, Ali Landry, Audrina Partridge, Samantha Harris, Joley Fisher, Candis Cayne, Jai Rodriguez, Karina Smirnoff, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Barry Watson, and Allison Sweeney.

Be an Angel with Scott, Renee and Bailey Baio

baileyangelScott and Renee Baio were filled with joy when their daughter Bailey was born. But they were to receive difficult news that tempered the joy there were feeling. Shortly after her birth, Bailey tested positive for a metabolic disorder known as GA 1. For 10 weeks the family struggled with the impact of this diagnosis. And then upon later testing, Bailey was cleared. She’d had a false positive. She did not have the disorder.

Scott and Renee were thrilled, so thankful for this miracle. But they realized that most families in their position are not so lucky. They couldn’t just move on and forget what they had been through. It is their wish to support children and families affected with GA1 and other OA’s (organic acidemia metabolic disorders) So the couple vowed to do what they could to heighten awareness on the importance of expanded newborn screening and its availability and necessity for every newborn. This is what drove them to form the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation.

This Saturday, May 30th from 8-4 the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation is hosting a Celebrity yard sale in Studio City. Shop from amongst 25 of your favorite “go to” kids brands at prices below retail, with proceeds going to the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation. Great deals, a great cause and a live performance at 11 am by “The Jumpitz”.

Check out the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation Website for more information and for an Invitation to the Celebrity Yard Sale.
