I find it totally awesome that big brands like Staples are on board with offering green product options.  Now Staples has Sustainable Earth, a line of organic and green products available online and in-store.

They have a variety of Sustainable Earth products like:  All-Purpose Cleaner, Printer Toner, an Eco-friendly Notebook and even a Sustainable Earth Calculator for $5!

Staples.com offers free delivery on all orders over $50.

Fashion Friday: Happy Earth Day

While I agree with many of my blogger friends who argue that every day should be Earth Day (why does it take just one day for us to appreciate the world and natural resources at our disposal), I always like attempting to feature some of the more eco-friendly products out there around Earth Day.

Here’s a few of my favorite earth-friendly products and reviews from Mommies with Style over the course of the last year:

Tegu Blocks -Tegu Blocks: The Toy I Want to Keep for Myself – these wooden blocks are made out of Honduran Wood and completely eco-friendly.

Cute SipFor Earth Day, Go Green with Sippy Cups from CuteSip (Free Shipping, Too!)

Earth’s BestBaby Detergent from Earth’s Best – Free of petrochemicals and chlorine free, it’s not tested on animals. There are no artificial colors and it’s HE  (High Efficiency Washing Machines) compliant.

Grow Ums - Vegetable Garden Fun with your Kids with Grow Ums – have your children grow and maintain their own organic vegetable garden in your back yard.  It doesn’t get more organic or local than that.

Zulugrass - Zulugrass: Beautiful, Eco-Friendly Jewelry from Kenya – This contemporary jewelry line is made from environmentally sustainable materials. The gorgeous strands of colorful grass beads are dyed in a wide range of colors and strung together with sparkling hand-blown Czech glass beads that make stunning pieces.

Green Your Kitchen With Full Circle

I’m always looking for ways to green my kitchen and Full Circle Home has a number of useful, beautiful and eco-friendly products to help keep you kitchen clean and green this holiday season.

Crystal Clear Glass Cleaner – at our house, the holiday means lots of entertaining which inevitably means lots of dirty glasses to wash. Over the years I’ve broken many a glass trying to shove my hand and sponge into them to scrub out the remnants of last nights wine tasting. But no more. With the Crystal Clear Glass Cleaner, my glass are clean – and in one piece. ($7.99)

Scoop Sponge – heard those statistics about the germs and bacteria that can be harbored in your kitchen sponge? One of the culprits is an always-wet sponge. Full Circle solves this problem with their all natural cellulose Scoop sponge. Notice the arch of the sponge? That helps the sponge to dry faster which means less of the gross stuff growing in your sponge. ($4.49 for 2)

Stick ‘Em Magnetic Kitchen Towel – My husband often justifies leaving the towel on the counter by complaining that it’s “too hard” to hang the towel over oven handle. Problem solved with the innovative Magnetic Kitchen Towel. A built-in magnet helps the towel hang on your fridge, stove or other metal surface. Goodbye wet towel on the counter. I’m stuffing this one in my husband’s stocking.($8.99)

Buy a bunch for an eco-kitchen gift pack or just a few to stuff into stockings. Visit www.fullcirclehome.com to see the entire collection and to purchase.

I’m a Parent Ambassador for Healthy Child, Healthy World

I’m really excited to announce my participation with Healthy Child, Healthy World as a Parent Ambassador. I’m in great company along with 18 other bloggers and actress Amy Brenneman (Private Practice, Judging Amy) and I’m thrilled to be a part of this movement.

About: Healthy Child, Healthy World is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding global awareness and understanding about the environmental hazards that are potentially hazardous to children that unfortunately exist in today’s modern world. They aim to increase awareness one parent at a time – so we can make better choices for our children.

To me, it’s about making small, daily changes.  Global change starts with one family, and over the last few years, I’ve been trying to make subtle changes in my family’s living on a daily basis.  The world isn’t what it was when we were once kids.  There are chemicals everywhere and they are harmful to our children.

My hope is that in being a part of this volunteer position, I can not only help to spread the word but help to learn what changes I can make in my own home to make it a safer environment for my children.  Because I’ll be the first to admit that while I’ve made a lot of changes in the last few years (eating more organically, buying all-natural products when I can), I’m still pretty mainstream and I’m looking forward to educating myself and my family towards living a healthier lifestyle.

Some info for you guys.  First off, watch this video.  If it doesn’t move you to want to make a change, then you weren’t paying attention and need to watch again.

A Wake-Up Story from Healthy Child Healthy World on Vimeo.

I could go on and on but we’ll start with this intro post.  In the coming months, I hope to bring you tons of useful information via Healthy Child, Healthy World that will help to educate Mommies with Style readers on ways to have a cleaner and safer home.

Giveaway: Along with this announcement, I have one prize pack available from Healthy Child, Healthy World.  It includes a copy of Healthy Child Healthy World: Creating a Cleaner, Greener, Safer Home, and other print materials including a pocket shopping guide (awesome for trips to the store).

To enter, leave a comment below.  Get a second entry but retweeting this post or posting about this giveaway.  Be sure to @mommieswstyle so I know you’ve done it!  One winner will be selected after June 14.

Zulugrass-Beautiful Eco Chic Jewelry

I recently discovered a beautiful Eco chic jewelry line by The Leakey Collection that is handmade together by local skilled Maasai artisans of Kenya. My favorite piece is from the Zulugrass line. This contemporary jewelry line is made from environmentally sustainable materials. The gorgeous strands of colorful grass beads are dyed in a wide range of colors and strung together with sparkling hand-blown Czech glass beads that make stunning pieces. Zulugrass is extremely lightweight, durable and very versatile, since it can be worn as a bracelet, necklace, anklet and more, giving you several looks! This video is helpful in giving you ideas on wearing it. It’s available individually or multi-strand, which allows you to get precisely the color, depth and weight of the jewelry that you want. It has an organic look and feel but is completely modern. I love how different this jewelry is from any other pieces I own. It is truly unique and special.

The Leakey Collection was born out of a devastating drought in Kenya back in 2001, which devastated the Maasai people. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the collection goes to help support this nomadic tribe.  Click here for additional details.

Kidzsack: An awesome, reusable, eco-friendly craft activity

kidzsackMy kids love having fun, creative activities to do. So when we were sent a Kidzsack, they were thrilled and so was I! Kidzsack is an eco-friendly backpack that comes with 8 washable, non-toxic markers which makes it a perfect reusable arts and crafts activity.

Here’s how you create with Kidzsack: your child colors the backpack with the included markers, then uses the bag for whatever they want (great for carrying around all sorts of stuff) and then when they want to color it again, just pop it in the wash and start again! How neat is that?!! It’s also made from 100% recycled fabric, made by combining recovered 100% cotton scraps and recycled polyester made from plastic soda bottles. Even the straps are made from natural fibers! Keeping my kids occupied and happy while waiting anywhere is always a chore, but I’ve been whipping out the Kidzsack and they have been so excited to color on their backpack! I’ve even brought it out at home when they are trying to interrupt me when I am on the phone. It keeps them busy for a while and they love coloring on it! The Kidzsack is offered in several different fun screen prints for coloring.

A 2009 Dr. Toy Winner, this cinch sack is made in the USA and is a high quality, multifunctional, and durable bag that kids will love to grab on the go! Perfect for keeping a sibling occupied and happy at their older sister or brothers sporting game, purchase a Kidzsack and bring it along!
