I’ve been a big fan of Bertolli food and meals for awhile now.  Their authentic Italian-inspired foods is made with only the best quality ingredients that come straight from Italy.  Their latest product are these Bertolli Meal Soups for two.

My family tried the Chicken Minestrone – my boys went nuts for it.  The veggies definitely tasted fresh and it was amazingly easy to heat up as it came straight out of the freezer into the pot.  We made two Meal containers (since one is for two) and definitely had a bit leftover so they are ample serving wise.

- Multiple levels: LeapFrog does such a good job at creating toys that offer multiple levels of play. The Solar System Map offer two levels of content so both my older boys can use it and be challenged.

- Information variety: The entire Tag series does a great job of packing in the information. From facts and data to games and activities, the Solar System map teaches and reinforces the learning through a variety of methods.

When I moved into our current home I brought with me couches that were purchased after I graduated college. I didn’t want to buy new couches for this home because I believed we would soon move, and therefore decided the couches would work for a bit. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has been putting more warnings out there about the dangers of furniture and TV’s tipping, and harming your child. A new data report (pdf) shows that between 2000 and 2010, CPSC staff received reports of 245 tip-over-related deaths involving children 8 years old and younger. More than 90 percent of the incidents involved children 5 years old and younger. In more than half of the 245 fatalities (56%), the child was crushed by the weight of the television, furniture, or appliance. The majority of these children suffered fatal injuries to the head (67%).

In addition, more than 22,000 children 8 years old and younger are treated in hospital emergency rooms every year (2008-2010) for injuries related to instability or tipover of televisions, furniture, and appliances. And like the fatalities, a majority of these injuries (56%) are to the head.

We’ll spend a frightful amount of money on Halloween this year: $6.86 billion. From costumes to colorful cosmetics, candy, decorations and more, costs quickly add up when prepping for the big night. This year, don’t get tricked out of funds and treat yourself to monster savings. Get creative and take advantage of limited time online offers for the best savings!

Giveaway & Book Review: The Digital Mom Handbook

This one’s near and dear to me:  my good blogging friends Colleen Padilla and Audrey McClelland are publishing a book!  The Digital Mom Handbook (Amazon, presale price $10.10) is available starting July 26th (which also happens to be my birthday and clearly a sign that it’s an awesome book everyone must purchase).

So often, my line of work comes up in everyday conversation.  People who aren’t in social media are so curious.  How do you make your money?  How did you get started?  What does it take to run a blog for business?  Some people ask out of curiousity but others want to know because they are considering doing it themselves.

The Digital Mom Handbook answers all of these questions.  Colleen and Audrey have managed to achieve what most women dream of: a successful career while they can still be home taking care of their children.

As I read the book over the weekend, I found myself nodding along to much of it.  I’ve been in this space for many years myself and I know these ladies well.  They are honest and forthright in their recommendations on how you can get started and how you can succeed in the space.

This is a fabulous book if you are even thinking about starting a blog.  They put you on the direct path to get started easily.  And if you’re already a seasoned blogger?   It’s still a worthwhile read!  Audrey and Colleen offer lots of quotes and success stories from other bloggers in the space and it was neat to read their stories!  And it’s always great to freshen up and get a different bloggers perspective on how they do things.
