Artistry Skincare Set ($680 value!) Review & Giveaway #AmwayArtistry

Designed to make your skin look and feel younger, Amway’s Artisty Skincare line is a skin care line I hadn’t heard of before but have been recently checking out.  Of course I had heard of Amway but didn’t know that they are one of the top five largest selling skincare brands.  They are dedicated to making sure their products take care of your skin and let’s face it ladies, we aren’t getting any younger and can use all the help we can get!

Not sure what you need skincare wise, they have a Skincare Recommender on their website where you can answer questions to find out what products might be best for you!  I also love the Virtual Makeover which is a little addicting.  Pick a model’s face whose skin is similar to yours and you can play around with the different products online to see how they will look on you – check it out, it’s actually kind of fun!

My favorite product thus far has been the Artistry Creme LuXury. Here’s a bit of info about it: Creme LuXury gives women the power of CellEffect, re-energizing skin for optimum performance and a revitalized appearance. Look forward to firmer, softer, smoother and more radiant skin that acts up to 15 years younger.

Fewer Wrinkles, More Glow with Sadick Dermatology

Paging through a magazine while I was on the elliptical a few weeks ago, I came across a dermatologist singing the praises of a new anti-aging serum – PM Reversal Serum by Sadick Dermatology. It promised to reduce wrinkles and normalize skin pigmentation with two key ingredients I’ve been eying to add to my skincare regime – peptides and retinols. Sadick Dermatology was kind enough to send over a sample of their new serum and here’s the nitty gritty on this new anti-ager.

What’s In It

- Dermplex™, a combination of powerful anti-aging stimulating peptides and stabilized retinol to help strengthen and support the skin structure and reverse the visible signs of aging.

- Peptide complex which works to create smoother, clearer and more radiant skin by improving collagen production and cell regeneration

- Retinols and Alpha Hydroxy Acids which improves your skin’s elasticity and barrier function by stimulating epidermal turnover and collagen production

How to Use It

Apply once a night after cleansing. One pump dispensed the perfect amount of serum to cover my face and neck.

The Results

Granted I’ve only been using the product for about three week now and to be fair, you want to give most anti-aging products 3-6 months to begin to see accumulated results, but so far, I’ve been very impressed. Here’s why I’m already a fan:

- It feels great. No stick residue. No tacky sensation. No headache-inducing or husband-avoiding scent. It goes on smoothly, sinks in and leaves my skin feeling moisturized until morning.

- Perfect packaging (almost). After dipping my finger into the jar of my last night cream for the umpteenth time, I’m glad that the PM Reversal Serum has a sanitary pump. And even better that it dispenses the perfect amount. The jar is tinted to keep the light from breaking down the ingredients, but unfortunately this also means that it’s tricky to know when you are running out.

- No irritation. If my skin isn’t happy, it definitely lets me know it but with the PM Reversal Serum I’ve had no irritation, no redness and no breakouts.

- Is that a glow? I know it’s only been three weeks, but already my skin tone is more consistent and there’s an improvement in the smoothness.

You can buy PM Reversal Serum by itself ($48 for 0.5oz) or as part of Sadick Dermatology’s three-part Park Avenue Prescription starter kit for only $70 (that’s a $52 savings!) which also includes AM Protection Cream and PM Rejuvenation Cream. It’s available now on Sadick’s website, and coming in July will also be available at Sephora stores and Sephora.com.

Botanical Skincare from Annemarie Borlind

Recently, my skin has seemed a little, well, dull. Could it be the lack of sleep from my newborn baby? Post-pregnancy hormones? My recent 30th birthday? Turns out, it was a lack of moisture. I had a chance to check out the LL Regeneration line by Annemarie Borlind, one of Europe’s leading botanically-based skin care lines that relies on natural ingredients to cleanse, treat, and protect your skin.  Geared for women 30+, the LL Regeneration line is specialized to promote cell renewal, smooth wrinkles,  strengthen the skin to resist aging, and replenish “dry, poorly moisturized skin over 30″ as each product description reminds you. Ouch. Sounds so depressing. Fortunately, the products in the LL Regeneration line remedy this. (The “dry, poorly moisturized” part, not the “over 30″ part. The latter, you are stuck with.)

I tested out the Cleansing Milk, Blossom Dew Gel, Night Cream, Day Cream and Eye Wrinkle Cream. When I first applied the products, I thought they were way too thick and moisturizing for my skin. But I soon realized that moisture was just what my skin needed. The first morning after using the products, my skin looked plump. Throughout the day, downright dewy! My favorite products are the Cleansing Milk and Day and Night Creams. The Cleansing Milk is gentle, soft even, yet effective at cleansing the skin without stripping any natural oils. The Day and Night creams are thick and luxurious, but absorb into the skin nicely. With ingredients like shea butter to moisturize, Vitamin E to heal, coneflower extract to strengthen and calendula to soothe, the Day Cream leaves your face soft, dewy and glowing. (I do wish that the Day Cream came with an SPF.)

I was also impressed with Borlind’s aim to use botanical ingredients that provide the most effective results, their commitment to complete disclosure of ingredients – even trace elements, and their strict cruelty-free guidelines. You can read more about their rigorous ingredients’ standards here and about their clinical test results here.

Borlind has a number of skincare lines so if you don’t fall into the “dry, poorly moisturized skin over 30″ category, visit their site to check out their other collections – http://borlind.com

Outdoor fun with these products from CVS

Why pay more for a brand name when you can get the same stuff for less?  I didn’t have any idea CVS had its own line of sun protection & outdoor skincare products.  I recently sampled a bunch and have to say I was impressed with the quality of everything – which I thought was on par with most of the more expensive sun lotions I usually buy.

Although my husband complains we go through these a lot faster than the lotion, I love the continuous spray baby and kid suntan lotions.  Simply because (and I know I’m not alone on this), putting sunscreen on your kid can be a pain – especially when you have multiple kids to cover up and you’re crunched for time.  So I was excited to see that CVS makes this Baby Sunscreen with 50 SPF for less money than other name brands on the market.

Also nifty is this Travel First Aid Kit, which is a must-have to keep in the car (and only $2).  Or this pocked-sized anti-itch spray which is hydrocortisone 1%, for burns, bug bites and skin flare ups when you’re out and about.

Lastly, my favorite was the Cooling Mist with 45 SPF, which was a double bonus to use for adults:  sun protection and a refreshing mist on a hot day in the sun.

One good thing to note: the spray products can only be shipped via ground so if you’re in a hurry, get over to your nearest CVS if you have one to save on the shipping costs and time.

Mama Mio Launches Their Newest Bootcamp as MWS Launches our New Site. Let’s Celebrate with a Giveaway!

bootcampfortummiI’ve been raving about Mama Mio for a while, and its time, once again, to share some of it with you. So I have to tell you about their newest Bootcamp: Bootcamp for Tummies.

Bootcamp for Tummies is a great system and can be used pregnant or not, but the results won’t be visible if you are pregnant. So, while I’ve been trying out the system, I can’t yet attest to the results. However, I can vouch for it all the same. The recommended exercises are very similar to Pilates breathing and I was completely hooked on Pilates until I wasn’t allowed to participate. (oh… baby… can’t wait until you’re 6 weeks old and I can get back in there and practice Pilates.)

These exercises do make a difference in your belly. They work the inner stomach muscle (aka your transverse muscle) that is so very difficult to reach, no matter how much of a gym-enthusiast you may be, unless you know how to breathe right. Bootcamp for Tummies teaches you how to breathe correctly to help to get your tummy in shape. Included in the kit are Tummy Toner (which I reviewed in the past) and Mama Mio’s new Get Waisted, which is designed to” eliminate puffiness, tighten your tum, discourage fat deposits and – most importantly – maximize lipolysis. Lipolysis is the way your body breaks down the fat stored in fat cells; giving you slim fat cells and a slimmer silhouette.”

I’m so looking forward to, postnatally, completing a Bootcamp for Tummies (in fact, I plan to do all 3 Bootcamps next fall.) And, because I’ve already tried out Get Waisted and Tummy Toner, I know how simple it will be to add a month of a 4-minutes-a -day series to my morning routine. I’m sure you want to join me.

To help Mommies with Style celebrate our relaunch and to celebrate and introduce our readers to Bootcamp for Tummies, we’re running a giveaway this week.

Here’s how to win your kit of Bootcamp for Tummies (a $135 retail value), its as simple as the bootcamp! Make a comment to this review and tell us two things: 1. which MWS style are you? and 2. pledge to do one month of Bootcamp for Tummies, should you win.

Make sure to include your e-mail address on the comment form (otherwise we can’t contact you to let you know you won). A winner will be selected at random next week and she’ll have 24 hours to reply to our e-mail before an alternate is selected.
