Cowboys & Fab Clothes: Fun in Nashville with CAbi

Breakfast the Opryland Hotel w/the bloggers: Valerie from Mom Street Style, Erica from Women on the Fence, Me, Jo-Lynne from Musings of a Housewife & Jamie from Blonde Mom Blog

I’m sure it’s going to take me a few days to get my head on straight but I arrived home last night after several fun-filled days down in the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN with CAbi.  CAbi, or Carol Anderson By Invitation is a line of clothes that is sold via direct sales only sort of like a Tastefully Simple or a Stella & Dot.  Local parties are hosted with a CAbi rep selling the pieces.

The CAbi Scoop is an annual event where all of the consultants get together to see the latest line and to hone up on their fashion skills.  There were thousands of reps in attendance at this event and I was there as a Blogger guest along with four other bloggers.  We got a sneak peak at the Spring 2011 line which will be available for sale the first week of February.  (You can have a sneak peek here too in some of the photos – all of the models in the photos are wearing the new Spring line!)

CAbi was generous enough to give us a gift card to purchase some of their clothes at their shopping event and I got some fabulous pieces!  I’ll be sharing them all in a fashion haul video later this week.  I really did love their clothes.  My perception is that their target for their audience is women ages 30-60 or so.

What I loved the best (besides the fab clothes) was the enthusiasm these women have for their company and the product.  I’ve never been to a conference with so much hooting and screaming.  These women are devoted to their jobs and for some, becoming a CAbi rep has been life-changing.  The entire event was inspirational.

Welcome to the Scoop

Runway models showing off the spring 2011 line

I thought this model on the left looked a lot like Courtney Cox and I only hope that when I'm older I can have awesome hair like this model on the right

Disclosure:  I attended the CAbi event as a media guest and while my trip was all-expense paid, I was not compensated and all opinions are my own.

Don’t Tell the Tailor about Zakkerz

picture-12I have a problem with commitment. Especially where my clothing is concerned. I wring my hands over what to buy and tend to spend the most on versatile pieces. So I dread making the big decision when I get a new pair of jeans: Heels or flats? Jeans are expensive! Why should I have to choose?

Good news is I don’t have to. A clever woman has come up with the solution. Zakkerz are magnetic fabric pants-holders that keep your jeans (or other pants) perfectly cuffed when you want to wear flats. Lose them when you need the extra length.

It’s simple and it’s brilliant. Every mom needs a pair or three of these. Extend your wardrobe without overextending your budget. No surprise that I discovered these clever devices at a store dedicated to clever items for busy moms. Pick up a pair of Zakkers for yourself at the Clevermom.me shop.

Affordable vintage inspired women’s clothing and accessories at Unique Vintage

I love vintage items, but often they are difficult to find or too expensive. So when I heard about Unique Vintage, an e-boutique featuring vintage inspired women’s clothing and accessories at very affordable prices, I was very excited!
Virtually every type of clothing style, from the 1920′s through the 70′s are represented on the site. You can search by style (sundress, mini dress, etc) or by era, or by type of dress (pinup, flapper, etc). The site has so much to choose from, it is really fun to browse around.
I was excited to try out a pair of vintage inspired shoes from their vast line of accessories. The natural raffia wedge with slingback will definitely make a statement this summer when I pair them with some cute skinny jeans.
If you need something special for an upcoming event, take a look at this site. With some amazing, unique dresses, you are sure to find something to fit your needs. Make sure you take a look at their awesome jewelry and other accessories, too, to complete your outfit.

25 weeks pregnant: Wearing my 2Chix Maternity tee-shirt again and again

I am not happy with my maternity t-shirt selection. I mean, there are very few shops around here that actually have maternity any longer. And I find that I have very little cute to wear.
So I was so excited to get to test out a maternity tee from 2 chix. They have cute and sweet little sayings, mine says “love brings out the child in you.” Which, when you think about it, really works in 2 ways when you’re pregnant. I’m thinking if I give this bump more and more love, it’ll have to be brought out eventually. Hopefully sooner than 42 weeks!
The shirts, which are one size fits most, are incredibly stretchy. They’re meant to fit tight and sexy, which is the look I really want this pregnancy. Every time I put on one of those big muu-muu-ish things that seem so in this season, I just get disgusted at what a boat I look like. So I totally wish I had more 2 chix t-shirts and clothing.
