In today’s electronic world, it’s harder and harder to get kids playing the “old fashioned” way – outside, riding bikes. I know I’m constantly limiting time on the DS, Wii, computer, etc and trying to push more exercise-related activities to help keep my kids active and encouraging their gross-and fine-motor development.
Recently I was introduced to the Ybike – a vibrant and cool-looking balance bike, perfect for 2-4 year olds. Prior to seeing the Ybike, I had never heard of a balance bike. My only experience with bikes for this age group were trikes (which I needed to push my son around with a push-bar for awhile) and our Cozy Coupe, which wasn’t so easy for my son to maneuver with his feet.
The Ybike, however, is extremely easy for my son to use and encourages balance and motor coordination. The bike looks like a mini-motorcycle and upon seeing it, my three-year-old son was excited to jump right on. He enjoyed cruising around our house (it’s cold out here so we played with it indoors, which was great!) and had no problems figuring out how the bike worked or maneuvering it around. It took him a few minutes to find his balance, but once he did, he gained confidence and enjoyed riding around on the bike. He simply sat on the bike, and used his feet to move around and maintain his balance. Very simple, yet effective in aiding with gross-motor development.
The Ybike is made with tough construction that has no small parts and no lead paint so it is safe for your little one to play with. The back wheels are hidden, which helps little feet stay safe when riding. Overall it is a very safe introductory bike for your little one to learn how to ride.

Disclaimer: Ybike sent a sample of their award-winning bike for this review.

I’ve read several positive reviews about the ybike. We have found that integrating large muscle activity helps our child gain coordination, motor planning and self regulation. This bike can do all of these things. Best of all, maybe he can keep up with his other siblings down the road
my daughter would LOVE the ybike! she can build confidence and learn better balance skills on it.
So far he doesn’t have anything in his “collection” that has a primary focus on balance. Introducing this type of bike would be a huge boost to his confidence once he masters the ability to “ride” it on his own. I have looked a many of these bikes on line, read reviews, etc. This one looks like the BEST!
This would be great for teaching balance.. My 2nd old is still too small for the trikes with pedals. This would be perfect!
My little one love vehicles and since this totally looks like one he’d love learning to ride it. Plus it will help him with teaching him balance. Great!
A Ybike would help my son gain the confidence he needs with being on a two wheeler that he could learn to spend more time focusing on the steering part.
This is such a cool idea. They say you need to be able to ride a bike in order to read a book and this might help give my child a better sense of balance and a feeling of control a regular bike does not.
Thank
My 2 year old daughter would have something to ride to keep up with her 4 year old brother. This would help her learn balance to be able to ride a “big girl” bike. Looks super cool!
The Ybike would be wonderful to teach my 2 year-old daughter to balance herself on a 2 wheeled bike without pedals getting in the way. I believe the first step in learning to ride a 2-wheeler is mastering balance, and THEN working the pedals. I’d love this for her!!
The Ybike would be ideal for our two-year-old son. He is big for his age and it has been hard to find something that is built for his skill level and size. My husband wants to get him a bike with training wheels, but he just isn’t ready for that yet. This Ybike sounds perfect for him.
Great giveaway – would love to win!
This is the ideal gear to train our kids to ride, avoiding their serious injuries. Ybike is a good idea for great gift this Christmas for me !
My son would love this and it would help him release a lot of energy throughout the day!
The YBike Balance Bike would help my son to get over his fear of riding a “real” bike – building confidence in his riding skills. Thanks for the chance!
